Are the rude players in the ED community undesirable and bad? Of course. Who wouldn't want a more friendly community? Is this phenomenon unnaturally predominant? I do not think so. Nor do I think that the devs have much influence over this. Rude players are a reflection of human and societal ills, and have little to do with ED, though its highly competitive and rapidly evolving atmosphere does create more tension. The devs cannot 'help'. The most they can do is to be more player-friendly, both through better updates and creating a positive influence through posts in the forums and helping in-game. However I do not think that this will happen, primarily because they seem to view this with amusement, shown through the sometimes provacative speeches of NPCs. Even if they do so, trolling and flaming will still occur due to the very nature of the game. In competition we often lose sight of our goals. What are they, anyway? Is it not to derive entertainment and relaxation? Sadly there will always be certain people who derive entertainment at the expense of others. But these people do not have to dictate the nature of the ED community. As many before have said, the onus is on us to create a jovial community. People like JZaanu and Fay Beee are models we can look up to in this aspect. People are ultimately influenced by the nature of society, and it is up to us to make that influence positive. I understand that many have paid to win and are frustrated when they don't. But think about it. Again, what is your aim? To win-or to have fun? Do you have to win to have fun? How often have you won without having fun? Once you regain sight of your aim, then it is much easier to affect the community positively. Don't care about winning a battle as if your life depended upon it. If you get partnered with a weaker player in 2vs2, don't insult him/her. Guide that person in the hope that the next time you get partnered with that person, he/she will be stronger and more experienced. Does Shaniqua's famous quote 'Evolve or die' truly stand? Its primary assumption is that either you win, or you lose. Sometimes the losers win. Sometimes the winners are the true losers. Simply, do to others what you would want others to do to you. Make an effort to interact with your opponent, to make light of the situation/compliment your opponent if you're losing and guide/compliment your opponent if you're winning, depending on how good his/her build is. Above all, remember that EpicDuel is ultimately a game.
