@soulprisnerx

Vix said it is for 1 month.
But it is irrelevant how long it is. It should not have happened in the first place.
There has to be a better way to sort this one out.

this is easy to sort out both accounts will have different email addresses so get help team to check

there are several ways to check to prove someone is innocent
wiseman just didn't feel like spending time investigating and just hit the ban button.

u can check my post on Account Sharing Investigation 101
quote:

Account Sharing Investigation 101

when trying to see if someone account shares or not there are several ways to check. however these ways require for the mod the mod to not be lazy and hit the ban button just because the IP pops out the same. so listen up newbs for u will actually learn how to run an investigation. so listen up newbs.

1) varium purchase
A. if they are varium users u can track their purchases and addresses depending on their paying method.
B. if they purchase by credit/debit card a home address is required, so they can check home adresses thru that.
C. if they purchased by phone they can check the phone numbers, or a possible phone bill by the user
D. if its by paypal they can also check the home address aswell
E. ask both players for transaction if u think that a certain account is someone else's alt

2) chat
A. u can also check by their chat ingame if any
B. private chats
C. faction chats (only to NW and titan, because i feel that some mods may abuse this to gain knowledge of enemy factions)

3) battle
A. not sure if battles are recorded but wins are. so u can check their usual time when they get the wins to see any anomalies.
B. NPCing or not, and battle strategy.

as u can its pretty stupid to even think that vix has an alt in his faction or that he account shares.
vix already has his problems in real life and sometimes cant keep up with his win requirement
so why would he have an alt in his faction that gets 200+ wins a day on average?

and comical u been in CAD before, u were here before double trouble joined CAD and u know how active vix was.
do u honestly believe he could be that active with double trouble when he wasn't that active with his account?

theres also the varium part, vix right now has no varium so why would he buy varium for a supposed alt when his main has no varium?

@comical That depends, because you could have two accounts, with two different e-mails, but only one person.

Guys, in the earlier versions of this thread (I think there have been 3), it was made clear that when someone is banned, you can't check who is who.
Maybe it's the devs' fault, maybe it isn't. If it was sharing the same wifi, I think the ban could let up after a while, just long enough to teach us a lesson.
I'm not exactly pleased vix is gone, but raging isn't a solution.
But more on-topic, I can probably list 10 people who share accounts. Maybe more. It's against the rules, but it's common. Like sitting in the car without your seat belt.
Again, I'm not sticking up for the mods. This ban is absolutely ridiculous, and I find it hard to hear, because we've all broken rules, and the fact that one icon of the game is banned whereas the majority of us remain the same, leads me to assume they're teaching us a lesson.

Best of luck, Vix, Hope you return soon.
Guys, really stop freaking out. It happened, but we have to move on. I get frustrated too, but you're simply going to tick them off, and that won't be fun.
A month ban is far too long. I don't think anyone should be banned unless they have a good reason.

The Ip where the two emails were created can be find, though it will need some time. Also, as it is not my problem but I see many trying to help VIX, double trouble should justify, and a way to prove you're innocent, get your parent's help and said them to called AE and explain the problem you're having. Why I'm saying this? A parent would never lie to protect him of something he did.

Most the time when people are banned for account sharing etc. is when two IP's have tried to log in to an account at the same time (Which isn't possible by one person) and other reasons.

Remember that your IP also shows where about in the world you are. So that's another reason, if it's being switched between two very different locations, then it's rather obvious that it's being shared.

We don't just ban accounts because it's been logged in to under different locations - just there are sometimes extremely suspicious situations that can only be explained by account sharing (like the ones stated above). When accounts are banned for these reasons, it isn't just because your IP has been changing, because that makes sense, everyone moves around, it's when it moves and changes in ways that just aren't realistic.

EDIT: As stated earlier in the thread, Varium purchase etc. is also quite an easy way to find these things out.

the way i look at it is
both same IP address that is OK as long as they has both diff email address so i see np next door has one vix has other and a one month ban is far to much 7 day at the most if not guilty account restored at once this all sounds a bit over the top
and also why would he want to play 2 accounts as he would not rise on leader board does not sound right to me

if My Neighbour sometimes plays Epicduel at my house and sometimes i play ED at his house it's again'st rules?
rainaka when i'm playing ed at my friend house that's mean my laptop is connected to his Router, so that's mean i will have the same IP as my neighbour , i don't see what i did is wrong since Nightwraith says this :

quote:

VIX,

You can play your character on machines that don't belong to you or on
other networks (friends house, net cafe, etc). The danger is letting
anyone else log into your account for any reason. It can also be risky
if you log on with other people around and and leave for a second to get
a snack. So, as a general rule, make sure if you're logging in with
another computer or on another network that you're present the entire
time your character is logged in. You also run the risk of someone
getting your password with a key logger that could possibly be on your
friend's computer or another foreign machine. Use common sense and a
bit of caution and your account should be fine.

Thanks,

VIX, this is NOT the place to start posting about this - we do not deal with these things, contact the help team!

@Fay - It depends, because if they keep switching from their house to yours, then it looks quite normal, but if it's always, or almost always played at your house, then it does look suspicious! It's one of those things that we do look for a lot of evidence and the history of the player (whether they have been in trouble before, whether that's for cheating, attempting to hack, dummying or what), then a decision is made off of that!

VIX and Goldslayer1- Please contact me directly if you have a problem with one of my staff or moderator policy.

VIX- please contact the Help Team: http://portal.battleon.com/help/mailer.asp

Here's the PM I sent Goldslayer1, I feel it's appropriate for all:

We know that having the same IP doesn't necessarily mean account sharing- often, when people report shared accounts, and even when we check and see that the IPs are the same, it turns out that they're roommates or siblings. It's actually routine for us to have someone report two characters, and it's totally innocent. We use more than IP (unless it's something like the same person logging in from the US, the Philippines, and South America in the same day- that's just ridiculous). We even take into account school networks (I actually got banned when my university was IP banned because of attacks on the server!), we use a multifactorial check process, and often won't take action when multiple characters in a faction have the same "home" IPs (the IP address used most frequently) unless there is something else shady going on.

I understand that VIX is your friend and factionmate, but this is really between him, us, and the Help Team (who often tune us in to such things- they're much more experienced with dealing with account sharing/trading/etc. than we are), so I cannot give you specifics.

I hope that this addresses your concerns to your satisfaction. I'm locking up this thread since it's truly not up for discussion.
