Tech Mage, as a class, is slow, and speed is awarded more in this game. Being a patient class, it requires patient thinking players to operate.

What makes class builds overpowered is when there is no strategy and basically it is auto-play and achieve a very high ratio. Every stage in this game, every class had a "auto-build". When those builds are introduced, the class change factor shifts the game to those builds.

Back to the question of what could make Tech Mage better, I personally don't know. This class, with a few tweaks, it could be overpowered, or vise versa, tech mages becomes extremely difficult to operate. They are the class of limbo.

In regard to Assimilation, I just feel it should balance with medic in regard to scaling as player's level. Assimilation is a thorn in many Tac merc builds, and if one utilizes timing, it can dominate a game at a slugs pace. Tech Mage wins against equal competition involve quite a bit of time and thought, and that alone, it is an unattractive class to many.

I am truly enjoying the game now cause every match means something. The only times I was unhappy was during the release of Azrael and the Support Auto-build reigned, and when the introduction of Agility which was too low, at the time, for reroute to be effective.

Though I had extremely high victor ratio against equal level players during initial Azrael's release, I found myself in true boredom, due to, the repetitive nature on letting support do the battling, and I just sit and wait for a Rage Aux.

I have to agree with you entirely JZaanu. As a techmage myself I have found that we are perhaps sluggish when it comes to 1v1. Quick builds such as smoke, massacre or smoke beserker, etc have been rewarded due to their efficiency. As one said, "patience is a virtue" and as exemplified in the parable the tortoise and the hare "slow and steady wins the race". Yes we TM are evolving in terms of power and efficiency, but we are evolving at a much different pace than the others and perhaps even at a precarious altitude.

Delving in this history of ED, TMs had a bumpy road. Builds such as high hp tank builds before the imposed agility were highly oped and resulted into "slow" expeditious time-consuming battles, high support build with conjunction with the merc before the introductory or the evolved classes were perhaps "le creme" of the crop builds. From the transition of a surgical wave of imbalance and nerfs, the sense of PvP strategy has lost it's stratagem edge; people are merely trying to copycat "breadwinner builds", which are usually already oped and abused in terms of stats and power.

As I'm seeing it, ED battles are becoming western shootout duals where the battles only last for a short duration. This can be seen in TLMs; all have unnaturally the same smoke, high strength, frenzy build with reroute which results into extremely quick battles.

Since I'm a nonvarium and lack the full capacity to enhance all my weaponry, I'm more-so forced to adopt abusing builds (such as support), and hope it doesn't lose it's edge in battles. But in regards to the topic at hand, yes I believe TMs deserve some SM, Assimilation buff of some sort.

TM is awesome. The creepy thing about TM that it's just so standard.
You can notice that TM is changed quite a lot after time, Focus change, Sup change, Stat change, FM change, Lv effect TM a lot, other classes counter TM and build that counter TM.
And bam! After so many threw at us, TM just can't die. It's always in the middle not horribly UP or OP (beside Heal loop). People find new way to kill us, we evolve!
The second creepy way about TM that when they nerfed on of our build. We still can use it. That's pretty cool. Look at BH when they nerf Poison. Look at TLM when they nerf FM. Look at Mer (ugh... so many nerfs)...now... We have Tech (Focus) build, Dex build, Sup build, and STR build (I used STR since early Beta lol)
And that's third terrify thing about TM: Can use anything. We can abuse any stats, from STR to Tech from HP to MP. We can max any Skill from DM (yeah that was good in 2vs2) to Multi (well in 2vs2 though:) and even Bludgeon. I'm possibly the worst kind of TM out there using Physical Gun and Aux with such outdate gears and didn't enh much (change build... so much) and I still survive

TM is the standard. They change this nerf that. But every thing in Delta spin around us



Something in mind... out of the drunk.
Also I really want to replace DA with Multi. I only use Multi in 2vs2, but anyone who use that Tree branch can take advance of even lv 1 DA. Already have some build in mind >.o

Honestly I don't believe TM is an underpowered class. Letting apart losses against TLMs, you can only say a class is underpowered if it gets beaten constantly by most other classes, and in my opinion TM doesn't. I have recently used a heal looping 4 focus build with all stats about 40, 124 HP, 106 dex (all enhancements), and a lv7+ heal. It worked really well even against some weaker full varium TLMs my level and above. I can detail the build if anyone wants.

TM is indeed an amazing class, with an exceptionally well-thought skill tree - unlike the new, evolved classes, where the skill tree seems randomly assembled.

JZ: Before I go doing actual comments on this, let me ask... what is considered a "slow pace"? How many wains and with what percentage is considered "good" in general for all classes?

(I'm kinda curious on how many wins the fastest class/build can currently gain)

iv always said this and ill say it again.. techmages do need a buff on the feald medic .. i think it were easyer witht he support tlm rather then nerfing feald medic , now people abuse str so what are mods/devs gonna do ? nerf str ... yea but then again tlm have a tank 5+ focus build that is better then both str/support tlm builds so any way tlm are over powered if your gonna nerf a class chose the right one plz that's the reason i changed class because the nerfed feald medic.. Why... just instead of giving tlm the 2 strongest skills in game why not just nerf one of the skills ?? i seen many good ideas and i thing aqw play is right devs/mod dont listen to the players at all in my opinion .. don't think about money for a change and plz fix the balance .. don't worry about updats we are fine with the weps we have. just fix the balance and if you decide to put 2 of the most powerful skills in 1 class do you think it'll be opn.. atm there is about 1% merc 6% blood mage 10% techmage 30% bounty and more then half the game TLM .. why ? because there Opn Duhh.. hmmm how can we fix this problem leme think... look at the community ideas all you need to do if fix the feald medic and nerf a TLM SKILL not a mage skill... Please listen to the players for a change ... why cant you do there simple changes .. ?? do think about nerfing support/str because then the only think left in ed will be lame 5+ focus builds and then again is tlm don't get a buff they are still over powered .. there you go there is no way on nerfing support/str without nerfing another class on the way . the only way if to nerf/change a Tlm skill.... and fix the feald medic system because its useless atm Thank You ! * i hope they listen this time*

I don't see how TM's are UPed cuz to me they're like timebombs which can blast you away if you don't deal with them as fast as possible

Assimilate should get a buff but making them unblockable is just too OPed

Someone who knows how to use mage properly is a weapon of mass destruction. Mage is EXTREMELY powerful, far stronger than TLM, it's just very difficult to know how to do it, and to be able to use it that well.

I like the idea of being able to use caster spells at level 1. After all, other skills are still at least somewhat good at level 1, but to use caster skills they have to be at least level 7 to be any better than a normal strike.

I was thinking of the Tech Mage's Skill Tree and make two probably good skill trees. Here they are:

Field Medic - Def Matrix - Plasma Bolt

Malfunction - Assimilation - Overload

Plasma Rain - Technician - Deadly Aim

Bludgeon - Reroute - Supercharge

OR


Field Medic - Def Matrix - Plasma Bolt

Reroute - Technician - Bludgeon

Plasma Rain - Assimilation - Deadly Aim

Overload - Malfunction - Supercharge

So guys what do you think of the skill trees?
I really like 1st skill tree, it is really well adjusted, and will give a lot of variety to TMs
2nd looks far more for tanking builds that offensive, but as Jzaanu said, tech mage is a passive class

I actually wanted a buff to the skills, not just rearranging the skill tree o.o
If the skills don't get a buff, then a skill tree rearrangement won't help much :S
