The Legends of Order and Chaos

Chaos is a power that only the foolish and power hungry try to wield. It is the very essence of uncontrollable desire and madness and it thrives without reason or limit. It is an immense power of infinite proportion, beyond any and all measure or comparison, but it cannot be harnessed, for it serves no purpose but to eradicate all sensibility. It serves no master nor bends to any man’s will, for doing so is contrary to its very existence. Before life, magic, space, time, and even before existence itself, there was only Chaos. The Chaos was unsuppressed, undimmed, untainted, and uncontrolled. There was neither reason nor intent in its existence because it was defined only by its complete lack of purpose and consistency. It was, simply because it could be, and it willed itself into existence because nothing else could. Unhindered, it surpassed infinity and all understanding. Unpredictable and unfathomable, the Chaos exists because it simply can’t not exist.
In the realm of Chaos was the multiverse forged. The power of Chaos was beyond infinite and it was perhaps even more powerful than itself. But from the depths of Chaos’s own madness was forged another power, just as great and terrible as its own; the realm of Order. Born out of the hatred and insanity of Chaos had come a force equal and opposite of its own. Chaos was no longer without equal, and it was at war. The truly unstoppable force of Chaos had met the eternally steadfast force of Order. Both powers’ entire existence was threatened by the others’ and with all of their infinite power and will they clashed.
Existence as we know it was born of the aftermath of their endless struggle to obliterate one another. From their battle came space, time, parallel universes, and magic; each a failed attempt to snuff the other out, but ending in futility. Our world exists in a balance of forces. Good and Evil, Life and Death, every power has its opposite. Neither is right nor wrong, and neither is stronger nor weaker, but neither shall ever be defeated and neither shall ever claim total victory.
The greatest victory of Chaos lies in the endless struggle that stretches on to infinity, and it is only kept in check by Order's greatest victory: maintaining the eternal balance.
