Insult to Injury!
Paxia War

Today's Event » War in Paxia! (Insult to Injury!)

You may skip this cutscene at any time.

«Scene: The home of Clan Nocturu. Xov Arakue's Truphma have surrounded the Chiropterran clan leader.»

Xov Arakue: Noctros, is it?
Noctros: Perceptive, aren't you? Why have you come to my sanctuary?

«Xov enters.»

Xov Arakue: You know why I have come. All of your so-called leaders knew I would be here eventually. And yet, all of you sat in your sequestered palaces and did nothing.
Noctros: I have ways of seeing beyond my walls. I know you are not having such an easy time yourself. Perhaps getting out of your own palace has done you some good.
Xov Arakue: Tsk, tsk. You are in no position, Noctros, to bait me. You are surrounded, and your blessed abode is failing. Even now, it is succumbing to my power, our power.
Xov Arakue: Surrendering would be best, but you are like all others who "watch" over the elements and warriors. You will let them do everything for you while you watch.
Noctros: You are not welcome here. Leave, Xov Arakue, and do not set foot in my realm again.
Xov Arakue: Bring him!

«A Nocturu clan member is brought in by two Truphma.»

Xov Arakue: Tell us all again your rousing words when we entered the palace!
Moap: My leader is the Honourable Noctros! I will die for him!
Xov Arakue: Honourable is a strange way to describe your fearless leader. You are a Chiropterran, are you not? Not of Lore's blood, but of another place.
Xov Arakue: So, Moap, you are to believe that your leader, who abandoned his people, who left his world, who has never looked back, is what you wish to emulate?
Xov Arakue: You wish to follow, blindly, one who dismisses his own in a heartbeat for greener fields?
Xov Arakue: That, sir, doesn't sound like an honourable leader to me. That sounds like someone willing to sacrifice whoever it takes to be where he is most powerful.
Xov Arakue: Truly, you fit the darkness stereotype to a T. You are not honourable, you are nothing but a dark evil!
Noctros: Darkness is not evil, Xov. Get your facts straight.
Moap: Though we follow the Darkness, we're not evil! Thought you won't believe me, we're the ones who pray the most on the island of Paxia.
Xov Arakue: You think praying the hardest is a good thing? I would say it was the opposite. If you must pray so hard to have your leader turn his blind eyes towards you, then he is no leader at all.
Xov Arakue: He who has to pray the hardest has the most unfeeling leader or god. Your prayers only show me that it is rather pathetic that anyone should have to pray so hard for their leader to notice them.
Moap: But...
Xov Arakue: Take him away. He's served his purpose. Noctros, don't you think that they have all questioned why you left your people, abandoned them?

«Moap is taken away.»

Xov Arakue: Did it ever occur to you that maybe they all fear you would do the same to them?
Noctros: You have had your say. Now go before I dispose of you.
Xov Arakue: I am only getting started. Bring him in!

«Another clan member, Riffus Maximus, is brought in.»

Riffus Maximus: I love Nocturu! Our oldest members were full of creativity and imagination!
Riffus Maximus: The sacred halls of this castle drove them to create the story of our clan, to chronicle all that we are about. They created tenets and religious and historical archives.
Xov Arakue: But your current members are lacking? Sounds as if your leader has fallen short again.
Xov Arakue: You've encouraged nothing in your people, Noctros. You've let them flounder, alone, their minds filling with ideas that counter peace and tranquility.
Riffus Maximus: That isn't what I said! Our creativity and religious devotions are what we are known for best. You cannot get any better than that!
Xov Arakue: Oh, but you see, that is exactly your problem. What has your creativity created but a glorification of unsettling and disturbing things like war, hatred, revenge, pain and sorrow?
Xov Arakue: What do your prayers do but implore and beg for the abilities to inflict that on others?

«Noctros raises his wings.»

Noctros: That is enough!

«Yet another clan member, Undersoul, is brought in.»

Undersoul: Shadows dwell in all men's hearts, and in Noctros's spire the shadows dwell everywhere. Nocturu is peace, and it is war.
Xov Arakue: So you prey on the shadows that fill men's hearts? Shadows that kill, maim, hurt. Shadows that create turmoil and strife. Nocturu isn't peace, Noctros. It is war.
Xov Arakue: It is a war of the soul desiring for a peace you cannot fathom. You devour the shadows in men's hearts to fuel your own desires.
Xov Arakue: See what you have done, Noctros?! You have created a following that is delusional in regards to what peace is!
Xov Arakue: You have given hope to those who do not realise you are a coward and a deserter. Just as you are blind to the world, they are blind to YOU!

«A winged Truphma beside Noctros stands up.»

Xov Arakue: I'd be doing Paxia a service by divesting you of your throne. Seize him, my soliders. Seize him and turn his mind! No more will people flock to this dark leader and his blinded, ambitious ways.

«Scene fades. New Scene: The palace of Clan Lucian.»

Xov Arakue: Greetings, Lucius. Such an undignified display for one such as you. I was under the impression that a creature like yourself was more graceful.
Lucius: What are you doing in my realm? You are not welcome here.
Xov Arakue: I am doing my job, Lucius.
Lucius: Your job is nothing but the depression of spirit and truth. You are a blight on our world.
Xov Arakue: Tut, tut, Lucius. Resorting to name-calling is so beneath you. Surely someone like you would be enlightened enough to see that what I have to offer is for the good of all.

«More Truphma enter.»

Xov Arakue: The fact of the matter, Lucius, is that you don't have a choice.
Lucius: Begone, you monster.
Xov Arakue: Here you go again with the name-calling. Is that as creative as you get? Apparently, even though you represent light, your people are far from enlightened. Bring him!

«A member of Clan Lucian is brought in.»

Xov Arakue: Recite for me your art.
SIGMUND: Shiny. Powerful. Graceful. Pegacorn.

«Xov makes a mocking face.»

Xov Arakue: *claps slowly* Is that all your clan is? A bunch of pretties who wish they had power?
Xov Arakue: I have to say, for such an inspiring element, you are woefully undermanned. I met few willing to come to your aid upon storming the castle.
Lucius: What have you done to my people!?

«Xov's face returns to its usual expression.»

Xov Arakue: Nothing more than give them enlightenment. Though, this one resisted well. She has spirit and will serve me well. Bring her!

«A female clan member is brought in.»

Xov Arakue: show me that spirit again, young one. Show your enlightened leader what you are made of.
Theosenia: Our leader is beautiful, noble and wise! Our clan has done some quite remarkable things in the past, and it's always read to rise and shine again!
Theosenia: We still have some of the oldest members who are extremely active.
Xov Arakue: Again with the compliments of superficial attractiveness. Is that all you are, Lucius? A superficial creature, vain, and in need of such attention?
Xov Arakue: And you might have done remarkable things in the past, but what of the present? Are you that reduced, that decrepit, that you cannot be a force to be reckoned with now?
Xov Arakue: Oh wait... you have the oldest members. There's your problem. So you've failed to attract new blood to carry on your "valiant" and "noble" teachings. Will such goodness die with you, then?
Theosenia: That is NOT what I meant! You twist my words, you cruel, lifeless witch. In the case of a war, let me assure you that you'd much rather have Lucians as allies instead of enemies!
Xov Arakue: Charming. Seems they do take after you, Lucius. Name-calling seems to be what you are best at...
Xov Arakue: Rein him in, my soldiers. It's time to take this pony out to pasture.

«Scene fades. New Scene: Aerodu thinks.»

Aerodu: Rumour has it two have fallen.

«His eyes shut in contemplation.»

Aerodu: Rumour. Should I put my trust in rumours?

«Scene fades. New Scene: An Aerodu Clan member sounds the alarm as she sights Xov.»

Jerenda: An enemy at our doorstep! The shrieking battle cry of our leader will be the last thing you hear as our warriors descend on you.
Jerenda: You will fall to the might and glory of our blade. We will not be broken. We will not fall.
Xov Arakue: My, such passion and ferocity. I think I will keep you.

«She transforms Jerenda, dulling her instantly.»

Xov Arakue: Perfect.

«Scene moves as Xov advances on Aerodu.»

Aerodu: Then it is true.
Xov Arakue: I must say, you run a pretty tight ship here. I had the most awful time getting to you. Such devoted followers...
Aerodu: Yes, they are. I don't have to abuse my followers into blind submission. Your minions are nothing but damaged goods.
Xov Arakue: Such strong words of confidence. Yet I am here, which means your precious followers fell to me. Perhaps such a tightly run ship has issues. *snaps fingers*

«Two clan members are brought in.»

battlesiege15: Aerodu is a graceful and care-free clan where you can basically set yourself free and do whatever you want.
James Lu: Aerodu is honourable, nice and does not turn away anyone.
Xov Arakue: Tsk, Aerodu. You seem to have a clan full of people with weapons and no self-control or discipline. They can do whatever they want? You do not turn any away?
Xov Arakue: What are you doing up here? Creating a military or creating an asylum of halfwits, undisciplined mobs and careless vagrants?
Aerodu: That is not what they said.
Xov Arakue: On the contrary, it's exactly what they said. You have no real control over their behaviour, do you? Bring in the other two.

«Two others are brought in.»

Xov Arakue: Tell me again about your clan, loyal fighters...
Doomsday: Our leader is a giant bird that pilots a spaceship with missiles and lazers.
Muchiha: Our enemies are just jealous of what the Aerodu Clan has. We just simply "look down" on them.
Xov Arakue: So you are telling me that your leader is a creature capable of flight, yet feels the need to pilot a flying machine? I truly apologise for him.
Xov Arakue: It seems you follow an impotent leader harbouring some crippling fear that he hides behind the great flying machine you so dearly love.
Xov Arakue: You "look down: on the other clans? I don't know how you're able to do that if you can't drag yourselves away from your mirrors.
Xov Arakue: Such self-importance is the downfall of all powerful nations and clans.
Aerodu: Enough. I will take you down myself.
Xov Arakue: Not so fast, Aerodu. You have soldiers who would throw themselves off of bridges if you ordered them to, but lack the wings to soar through the sky.
Xov Arakue: Instead they'll plummet to the ground and die. Before he fell, I asked one called hict98 what makes you strong. He claims that you have a great second in command.
Xov Arakue: *Claps*

«The aforementioned second in command is brought in.»

Aerodu: Ultrapowerpie... no...
Xov Arakue: He fought bravely, led many against me and mine, but he fell, just like you will. And this one, who proclaimed such fierce devotion the moment I set foot on the ship will help.

«The turned Jerenda enters.»

Aerodu: Jerenda...

«Scene fades. New Scene: The Igneus volcano.»

Xov Arakue: (off-Scene) I will hand it to you. If you don't want someone to reach you, live in a volcano.

«She enters.»

Igneox: Xov Arakue! This cannot be...
Xov Arakue: Oh, it can be. I came upon such fiery followers on my way in, too. Admirable to a point, but more disturbing.
Xov Arakue: You, Igneox, are the epitome of why I am on Lore. You and yours are the embodiment of why I spread my message.
Igneox: Do tell, Xov. What is it about my followers and myself that you find so terrible that we are the examples?
Xov Arakue: Because you asked... Bring the first in!

«Yazoi is brought in.»

Yazoi: We will become a RAGING UNSTOPPABLE INFERNO and burn everything away. We will not be stopped, ever!
Xov Arakue: You and your clan seek to consume everything? What will happen when there's nothing left for you gluttons to feat on?
Igneox: ...
Xov Arakue: No reply? No fiery retort? Shame. Shall we hear out another?

«CH4OT1C! is brought in.»

CH4OT1C!: Those who follow Igneus are often those who love destruction. WE have the power to destroy.
Xov Arakue: THIS is why I am here, Igneox! Wanton destruction, determination to annihilate, the will to wipe out all that is in your path.
Xov Arakue: This I find irresponsible and despicable. I have no mercy for you. THIS is what the mind does when it is allowed to create and imagine.
Igneox: You misinterpret what they are saying.
Xov Arakue: No, Igneox. You mislead and misguide your own followers into the path of destruction and downfall. You put these horrific thoughts and actions into them. You indoctrinate them into violence and hatred.
Igneox: That is untrue!
Xov Arakue: Bring me the one who calls himself whackybeanz. I will take care of him.

«whackybeanz is brought in.»

Xov Arakue: Tell me, whackybeanz, what it is that you proclaimed to my commanders.
whackybeanz: Igneus prides itself for being one with burning hot passion in whatever we do, be it on or off the battlefield.
whackybeanz: We strive to do the best in whatever we do, because like flames, we believe that our power cannot be extinguished easily.
Xov Arakue: He was a shining spark among these blackened embers. He will join me by my side with another from Aerodu to fight my fight now. I'll leave the remains of your clan to burn themselves out.

«With a splash of dullness engulfing him, whackybeanz is transformed into one of Xov's kind.»

Igneox: No! You cannot do this! You are the one in the wrong here!
Xov Arakue: Don't worry, I'll rescue you from the utter destruction I have decided upon for your fortress of fire. I'll save your hide.

«Scene fades as a host of Truphma rushes toward Igneox. New Scene: The home of Clan Glacius.»

Xov Arakue: The perfection of snow, the beauty of white, the comfort of cold...

«Glaciar enters the scene.»

Glaciar: So, it is my turn, Xov. I had wondered if there was any significance to the order in which you have visited us all. There is always a method, even amidst madness.
Xov Arakue: You believe my mission is madness?
Glaciar: No, I was just quoting someone. I believe your mission is misguided. But, no, not madness, despite what the others may think.
Xov Arakue: Misguided?
Glaciar: Yes, Ms. Arakue, misguided. I cannot, for sure, speak of your past or what drove you to this course of action, but something did.
Glaciar: The past has a way of corrupting the best ideals and thoughts. Perhaps that is the problem.
Xov Arakue: ...
Glaciar: I have been around a long time. I have seen the misguided action of those around me, including other clan leaders.
Glaciar: We jump to conclusions, we jump to action and we sustain our fight and thoughts without re-evaluating them over time. And, suffice it to say, things get convoluted...
Xov Arakue: And that is why I do what I do. It is why my mission is to give people a life without all of that. Fear and envy, the base of most violence and dissonance, is a product of our imaginations.
Xov Arakue: If you cannot imagine your fears, your emotions, then you cannot do things that are terrible in response.
Glaciar: Yet, you've stormed my palace. Have you not imagined your fears and are now acting on them?
Xov Arakue: There is a difference. I have not hurt anyone. I have merely defended myself as I wore down your fighters, enlightening those who crossed my path.
Xov Arakue: I have given them a life that is free from negative emotions; free from the imagination that causes them such pain. I have given them a second chance at life.
Glaciar: Yet, I caught you in here before I arrived, looking around. I swore I saw something in your face that does not match up with your philosophy.
Glaciar: Almost as if... you missed something. Perhaps, regret?
Xov Arakue: Your imagination made you think you saw something. Bring in one of his fighters!

«The Truphma drag in Turtle_King.»

Xov Arakue: Speak your piece.
Turtle_King: We are guardians, protectors and those who face the bitterness of cruelty like we face a bitter cold blizzard.
Turtle_King: Head on! Glaciar is mostly quiet and wise yet powerful enough to deserve to lead and protect.
Xov Arakue: For the first time since I started this crusade, I have heard intelligence. Shame it is not yet perfect. I will applaud you, Glaciar, for teaching your charges to stand against cruelty.
Xov Arakue: The problem is that you cannot dispel cruelty until you rid yourself of all the ways you succumb to it yourself.
Glaciar: No one is perfect, Ms. Arakue. We do what we can, and learn along the way. Some learn better than others. Regret is as powerful as envy and fear, Ms. Arakue.
Xov Arakue: Bring in the other one!

«Nephanie is brought in.»

Nephanie: Glaciar has taught us wisdom in the face of the deep cold. He has shown us how to stand against the bleakness and see the beauty that can be.
Nephanie: There is nothing wrong with Ice, with the biting chill, as long as the heart stays strong. An enemy is only an enemy when he proves to use evil to get his way.
Xov Arakue: No, nothing wrong with Ice. The quiet, frozen solitude is the best place to know what should be...
Glaciar: Ms. Arakue, please, see how your misguidance has changed you into the very thing you loathe.
Xov Arakue: No, I am not misguided. Take him.

«A group of Truphma appear in the background, ready to hold Glaciar captive.»

Glaciar: No, Ms. Arakue, that will not be necessary. I will go willingly, if it will eventually help you see the error of your ways.
Xov Arakue: Then... lead him... away...

«The Truphma head toward Glaciar as the scene fades to black. Xov pays a visit to Nautica's meduse, next.»

Xov Arakue: *yells* You have the cleanest floors? Is that all you can boast about? Is that all you have, Nautica? Can you not muster even the smallest contingent to defend yourselves?

«No response.»

Xov Arakue: ....... . . .
Xov Arakue: *yells Just like those who let their imaginations and creativity consume them. Always the artist, never the realist!

«Nautica enters the scene.»

Nautica: Do you think it is necessary to behave like this?
Xov Arakue: Oh, look, someone has finally pulled themselves from their "art" to pay attention to the real world.
Nautica: Art is a complex concept that demands attention to be made truly great, something that this clan understands. Without us, who would capture the beauty of the world around us?
Xov Arakue: If you looked up from your 'art' every once in a while you might see that the picture you were drawing has changed. Changed for the worse.
Xov Arakue: You've championed inaction and self-absorption to such an extreme that you've dropped off the face of the earth, secluding yourselves beneath the sea.
Xov Arakue: All so your artistry won't be disturbed.
Nautica: Such mean accusations. You make us sound as if we have no care for the world. Quite the--
Xov Arakue: Spare me your excuses. Your clan is everything that me and mine find offensive. Creativity, imagination... you embody one of the most dangerous results of these things.
Xov Arakue: Complacency and apathy! This is unacceptable.
Nautica: Perhaps you ned to participate in one of our poetry sessions or paint a picture, Miss.
Xov Arakue: . . .
Nautica: I assume your silence is just you trying to figure out which is more to your liking.
Xov Arakue: Unbelievable. You are so consumed by yourselves you have no idea what is going on! Bring in Archmopecake. *mutters* The names in this place...

«Archmopecake is brought in.»

Archmopecake: My leader! Nautica! Have you told her how wonderful the undercurrents of depth, peace, and loyalty run in our family?
Archmopecake: She will not believe me. I think there is something wrong with her...
Xov Arakue: So, all of you have are undercurrents of these things? Undercurrents are weak, pathetic and a sign of an inability to stand firm on anything.
Xov Arakue: Have you become that weak, that deranged, in your artistic complacency that you cannot even muster your convictions in strength?
Nautica: Again, such mean words. Why do you attack us so?
Xov Arakue: Bring in the other, more verbose one.

«Dethhollow is brought in.»

Dethhollow: My beloved, all-loving and creative leader!
Xov Arakue: *Sigh* Delusions run deep here... just like the currents you float upon.
Dethhollow: We are great! Our clan is filled with the knowledge of an age long past.
Xov Arakue: Ah, dwelling on the past. Does that help you cope with the present? Or do you even care about the present? Does your ability to dwell on your artistic pleasures derail you from the reality of the world?
Dethhollow: Reality? *sputters* The leader is as the sea, patient and understanding yet with the potential to be cruel and merciless.
Xov Arakue: Yes, with such creativity running rampant here, it is no wonder you can boast of having such a cruel and merciless leader. Your creativity has sparked an imagination that breeds conflict and pain.
Xov Arakue: When your wonderful leader can tear his eyes away from his canvas, all he can do is be cruel? Yet, you willingly follow this individual? And the others wonder why I do the things I do.
Nautica: I feel that you are misrepresenting my character. Perhaps we could discuss how you're wrong over a spot of tea?
Dethhollow: I follow because Nautica is so great! Stop and think about things from his perspective.... You're on an island. The island is surrounded by water.
Dethhollow: Nautica's element is the boundary between Paxia and the mainland. In the end, Nautica controls the sea. And Nautica has the ability to stop any trade with Paxia, if its wise leaders should choose so.
Xov Arakue: I see. So, not only is your leader and clan willing to be cruel and merciless, you are also apt to controlling every aspect of life that does not pertain to you.
Xov Arakue: So, all your artistic creativity and imagination is used to torture and cut off all other peoples and force them into submission to you?
Xov Arakue: And everyone thinks I am such a terrible person for my desire to spread my lifestyle. You are far worse.

«A group of Truphma appear behind Xov, advancing slowly, ready to take Nautica away.»

Nautica: I am sure that is not what he is saying.
Xov Arakue: Oh, no, he has spoken very plainly. And, thus, has sealed your fate. TAKE THEM, NOW!

«The Truphma charge toward Nautica as the scene fades to black. Over at Geoto's clan base, Geoto is deep in thought.»

Geoto: I must be strong, resolute, and ready for her when she comes. I have seen her army swarm our island.
Geoto: I have asked my clan to meet her, but the reality of the situation is, I will see her on my doorstep.

«A group of Truphma find Geoto, breaking his chain of thought.»

Geoto: The vanguard, I presume...

«Xov enters the scene.»

Xov Arakue: Not as pushy as yours were, though. To be honest, I was touched that you sent them so far ahead.
Geoto: You've gone to the others, taken their leaders, punished the clansmen and women. I assumed you intend to do that here.
Xov Arakue: Well, you've at least saved me some time. Shall we proceed with why I intend to take you prisoner and make you see my way of things?
Xov Arakue: *Smiles* I see you thought I would do something terrible. I am not a barbarian.
Geoto: Could have fooled me, Ms. Arakue.
Xov Arakue: *Smiles* Bring him.

«The Truphma bring in Neo_Manni.»

Neo_Manni: Geoto is full of knowledge and wisdom. Imagine how being so balanced could get my leader out of any situation.
Neo_Manni: He is like the greatest warrior of LORE. Magical creatures are ready to pounce if provoked on his command.
Xov Arakue: You're using your powers over the earth and its creatures to raise an army instead of using it to aid people.
Xov Arakue: You'd rather kill than help hundreds more survive the next winter. That alone tells me all that I need to know, but there's plenty more blasphemy to be heard.
Geoto: Hear what you want, Ms. Arakue. Nothing I say will change what your ears perceive as truth.
Xov Arakue: Perhaps hearing the blind love for you and your clan from your clan head will help enlighten you. Bring in the next one.

«Oliver Bell is next to be brought in.»

Oliver Bell: I have been dedicated to this clan because of the community. Geoto has a habit of attracting people who are dedicated and hardworking and with a wide variety of views and ideas...
Oliver Bell: It is the people more than anything else which have made this clan truly great.
Xov Arakue: Yet, such a close-knit community has its pitfalls. When all your attention is on yourselves, you end up forgetting about the outside.
Xov Arakue: Sure, you attract dedicated, hardworking people, but what about once they are a part of your community?
Xov Arakue: They become content with your clan and the relations they have within in and lose all will to reach out to the outside. How do you sit in your home and know that this is happening?
Oliver Bell: While Geoto is not perfect, no being truly is, he is clearly an intelligent and capable leader who has served the clan well, in addition he is able to recognise and learn from his mistakes.
Oliver Bell: I would be willing to bet he is also skilled in battle when the need comes for it.
Xov Arakue: You... have not seen your fearless leader fight? How can you be so dedicated to someone you cannot positively rely on in case of battle? You bet that he is capable, but you cannot guarantee it.
Oliver Bell: If the threat is clearly from a foe who we cannot avoid conflict with then we would have to respond aggressively and pursue the conflict on our terms rather than theirs.
Oliver Bell: If the enemy is one who is either misguided or misled then the response would likely be to try and correct this issue first as calmly as possible but if that fails then once again we would have to adapt.
Oliver Bell: If the matter is more ambiguous of the motivation of the enemy is unknown Geoto would likely choose to offer peace rather than hasten to war.
Xov Arakue: I would consider those words intelligently presented, if it were not for the fact that they are not tried and proven actions by your leader.
Xov Arakue: You cannot actually tell me if any of those are true behaviours of your leader. You've never truly seen him do anything, have you?
Xov Arakue: He presents and casts an aura of peace, patience and due process, but that is all it is.
Xov Arakue: Something that piques your imaginations, stimulates your creative minds and feeds the shade that is pulled over your eyes.
Geoto: That will be all, Xov Arakue. You have had your time here and now it is time to go. You have no business here.
Xov Arakue: On the contrary, Geoto, that is all I have here. Important business. Capture the stoic earth commander and throw him in with the others.

«A large earthen hand rises from the ground and surrounds Geoto.»

Xov Arakue: As for you, Oliver Bell, you are now mine. You will do wonderfully alongside the others I have claimed...

«The scene fades to black, and Xov arrives at Dynami's generator.»

Xov Arakue: You think as one, yet we act as one. You love being the queen, but your reign is at an end. I am here to run your clan the proper way.
Dynamo: No one can run my clan better than me! I AM THE QUEEN!
Xov Arakue: Yes, and such a bygone, spent queen you are. You lead with a temper that rivals the very creature you look like. Short, quick and hot, leaving no room for intelligent reasoning.
Dynamo: I know your methods, Xov. I know that you take without asking. I know you force everyone you touch to submit to your ideals. You are not fit to be in my presence.
Xov Arakue: Ah, yes, your presence. Your presence is not so wonderful. And let's not point fingers at methodology...
Xov Arakue: Isn't it you who's infected your clan with your chemistry, connecting them all together so that you can constantly monitor and manipulate their thoughts?
Dynamo: It's not manipulation!
Xov Arakue: It isn't? But, how can it be that so many come to you, yet all end up just like you? Hot-tempered, jumpy and ready to attack? Or unable to think on their own, only able to do as the whole does?
Xov Arakue: My Truphma may all believe in the same ideals, but they still are individuals who serve me. While I might have opened their eyes, I haven't taken their freedom.
Dynamo: How dare you! You come into MY home, you attack MY clan and threaten ME! ME?!
Xov Arakue: And now we come down to the truth. It is all about you. You, you, you. Such selfishness is quite unbecoming a true queen.
Xov Arakue: According to one of your most faithful I have taken prisoner, you are all that holds this clan together. If you die... so does the clan.
Xov Arakue: And that would result in hundreds... thousands of people lost, confused, without direction. YOU are too important. YOU are what is wrong. YOU deserve to go down.

«A group of Truphma enter the clan base.»

Dynamo: I would like to see you try.
Xov Arakue: Look around, my Lady. You were so concerned about yourself, you didn't notice that you have lost all your precious followers.
Xov Arakue: Your self-absorbed importance cost you your precious people...
Dynamo: Nooooo!!!
Xov Arakue: Bring in Zyrain.

«Zyrain is brought in.»

Xov Arakue: My thanks, Zyrain. Your impassioned pride in your clan helped me immensely in capturing your Queen. Your emotions got the best of you, and gave the best to me.

«The scene fades to black...»

Xov has wrestled command of the island from the leaders, thinking that the clans have fallen to weakened a revolting states, no longer capable of being the once proud and powerful fighters they once were. Each leader is slowly being exposed to Xov's ways. It is up to you and your fellow clansmen and women to resuce them and take back what is rightfully yours.

«When three clans [Igneus, Aerodu, Glacius] hit 100% on their war meter, a new cutscene, "Reinforcements?!" appeared in the war camp.»

«Scene: Paxia. Xov stands beside a portal while she speaks to her underlings.»

Xov Arakue: Reinforcements, NOW! Igneus and Aerodu were FAR more effective than they should have been.
Xov Arakue: And... Glacius is free too, his people awakening the way I had hoped they wouldn't... I want to know WHY we have failed!
Truphma Commander: My Lady Xov, I fear that maybe the information gathering for the clans may have been sabotaged.

      «Xov flies into a rage.»

Xov Arakue: Sabotaged? How... did... you... allow... that?
Truphma Commander: My thoughts are that the incomplete soldier has had a hand in this.
Xov Arakue: The report said it was taken care of.
Truphma Commander: I... I guess not, my Lady.

«Xov extends her hand a massive power begins gathering on her staff, illuminating the scene...»

Xov Arakue: Failure is NOT an option. Not with what I suspect of this... Hero...

«Xov sends the blast of power right at her Truphma Commander, obliterating him.»

Xov Arakue: Commander Four! In here, NOW!

«Commander Four flies into the scene.»

      Truphma Commander: My Lady.

«Xov extends her arm and gives her orders to her commander.»

Xov Arakue: Command my reinforcements from Stark 3 and Dretke 5. NOW! I will not be shown up by this island of misfits.

      «Her commander nods.»

      Truphma Commander: Yes, Lady Xov.

«From the portal, silhouettes of Truphma can be seen pouring out from the portal... This caused the remaining five clans' war meters to fall, with the addition of Truphma forces to each of them.»
«Regardless of which clan, after defeating 100% of Xov's forces in that clan...»

«You»: Your plan has failed, Xov! I'm taking you down before your dreary corruption infects my clan's leader!
Xov Arakue: Think again, «You». You will never rescue your leader because you will never make it past my golem!

«Xov stretches her staff out and summons an Earthen Fist from underground!»

Ooh! So this... wasn't really mentioned. This will be added to the Squire training post. Pria/Emoran posts will begin from level 6. Stormfallen... we'll wait and see.

    quote:

    Knight Level 5
Tathlin: Your basic training is now complete, my friend. Your safeguarding of the Eye has earned the faith of all three of our allied kingdoms.
Tathlin: Purify the Eye of the Unholy, and take your rightful place as a full-fledged Knight!
  • I'm ready!
  • Not yet...

Tathlin: Excellent! The magi are preparing the purification ceremony now, so we will have time to talk.

«You don your Squire's Training Armor and meet with Tathlin.»

Tathlin: We have a bit of time between now and the ceremony, friend. Have you thought about which kingdom you intend to join?
    «You»: Yes, I have.
Tathlin: I'm eager to hear your decision! Which kingdom are you joining forces with?

«You are given the four kingdoms to choose from.»

    «Kingdom of Rennd»
Tathlin: I am very pleased to hear that, friend!

    «Kingdom of Granemor / Deren»
Tathlin: I am very pleased to hear that, friend! My only regret is that we must part ways, but I am confident that you will be an excellent Knight in any order.

Tathlin: Come then, let's get the Eye purified. The magi should be ready now.

«If you gave the Eye of the Unholy to Urgoth previously...»

      «You»: Er... about that, Tathlin...
Tathlin: ....you have the Eye, right?
«You»: ....I must be honest, friend. The Demon Knight forced me to relinquish it.
Tathlin: WHAT?! You should have told us immediately!
Tathlin: We could have sent others to pursue him...
Tathlin: Do you not realize the trouble you've caused, «You»?
Tathlin: I thought I could trust you...
«You»: You can, Tathlin! I just couldn't bear to see you hurt. I thought I'd have more time to retrieve it...

«Off the screen, a voice can be heard.»

???: Not to worry, «You». It's right here.

      «A few Demon Knights enter.»

«You»: You! You still have the Eye? Why?
Demon Lord Urgoth: My Queen recognizes power. What better way to show my power than to slay the head knight of Rennd?
Demon Lord Urgoth: You can't stop it from happening. While my minions deal with you, I shall dispose of him!

      4 BATTLES: Demon Knight
Full Heal after battle #2 and #4

«Urgoth and Tathlin are caught in an intense battle. After exchanging a few blows with each other, Urgoth retreats and returns, riding on a salamander. The salamander breathes fire on Tathlin with such power that he falls to the ground.»

      «You»: Tathlin!
«You»: I won't let you harm him further. I'm going to beat you, and get the Eye of the Unholy back!
Demon Lord Urgoth: You may try, but you won't succeed!

      1 BATTLE: Demon Lord Urgoth
      Full Heal

      «You»: Ha, got it!
Demon Lord Urgoth: ...impossible! Give it back, or die!

      «Tathlin returns to the battlefield.»

Tathlin: I'll take it from here, «You»!
Tathlin: Take the Eye to the magi and get it purified! Then we can use its might to finish this!
      «You»: Right!

«You rush off to find the magi.»

Tathlin: As for you... shall we pick up where we left off, now that you lack your dishonorable magics?
Demon Lord Urgoth: Even without the Eye, I still have plenty of strength to crush you.

«Tathlin raises his blade, now glowing in a blinding yellow.»

      Tathlin: We shall see.

«Tathlin charges toward Demon Lord Urgoth.»
«If you did not give the Eye of the Unholy to Urgoth previously...»

«You»: Alright, I'll retrieve the Eye from its hiding place and rush it to the magi....

«A Knight of Rennd enters the scene.»

Knight of Rennd: The demons are coming! They must have found out about the ceremony!
Tathlin: Curses... «You», take the Eye to the magi.
      «You»: What will you do?
Tathlin: Hold them off as best I can. I can't stop them all, some will get past... but...
«You»: Tathlin, I don't want to abandon you here!
Tathlin: I will not fall to them. They haven't the strength to manage that feat.
«You»: Alright... fight well, Tathlin, and Battle On!
    «Scene: Purifying Grounds»

«You»: You need to purify the Eye, fast! The Demon Knights have come to claim it!
Magi: We can only work so fast. Can you buy us some time?
    «You»: Absolutely!
Magi: Good, because here they come!
      4 BATTLES: Demon Knight
Full Heal after battles #2 and #4
Magi: It has been purified! Quickly, take it and go to Sir Tathlin's aid! We cannot lose the heart and spirit of Rennd!
«You»: Don't worry. He will survive!

«You return to Sir Tathlin, his hands full with defending Urgoth's onslaught.»

«You»: Demon! The Eye is purified, and your force is broken. Flee now and perhaps you'll be spared.
    Demon Lord Urgoth: Absolutely not!
Tathlin: Then we shall end this, together!
      1 BATTLE: Demon Lord Urgoth
      Full Heal
«Urgoth falls to the ground, defeated.»

    Tathlin: «You», you've done it!
Tathlin: For your heroism this day, you may take the Eye with you on your adventures, wherever you go.
Tathlin: I have sent ahead correspondence. They will be expecting you.
«You»: Thank you, Tathlin. I will see you again as soon as I can.

Congratulations! You are now a Level 6 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

  • Advanced Knight Class Training - Frogzard Knights

    Knight Level 6

    «Scene: Practice fields in Deren»

Cerin: Greetings, «You»! Ready yourself for the intense training of the Frogzard Knights!

«A new option - Join Another Order! - is unlocked for you, and can be accessed from the Knight Class menu from this point on. You will now train as not just any ordinary Knight, but a Frogzard Knight. The Frogzard Knight Class shop is open as well, containing the Frogzard Knight Armour, which Cerin tells you to "use this equipment well".»

Cerin: Welcome to Deren, new recruit! Tathlin has spoken highly of you and believes you have excellent potential.
Cerin: Our order is best known for its tactical intellect and ability to adapt to a variety of combat conditions.
Cerin: This is because we embrace the traits of our order's mascot and mount: the Frogzard! Are you ready to learn how to ride one?
  • I'm ready!
  • I need more time to think about this.

Cerin: Excellent! You'll want to go get fitted for your new armor, and trade in your training gear.

«You equip the temporary Frogzard Knight Armour and meet with Cerin on Deren's practice grounds.»

Cerin: I'm glad to meet you, «You». Let's begin with...

«A Frogzard Knight enters the scene.»

Knight: My lord, I've received a report that the thief has struck aga... oh, I'm terribly sorry, have I interrupted something?
Cerin: It's quite alright. It figures that our little thief would strike another garrison's supplies at such an inconvenient time.
Cerin: With so many knights committed elsewhere, the thief has gotten bolder as he knows we have no one available to track him down....
«You»: Allow me, sir! I'll catch your thief!
Cerin: Hm, but you've not had any formal training yet. Still, with resources stretched thin, I suppose it's worth a try.
Cerin: Bring us one of the fastest steeds we have available.
    Knight: Sir!

«The Frogzard Knight leaves the scene.»

Cerin: Are you quite certain that you can handle a Frogzard mount without training?
«You»: I will manage. If it means helping Deren, I'm happy to help.

«The Frogzard Knight returns with a Frogzard mount.»

Knight: This one is fast, but she has a fierce temper. Be careful!
«You»: I will be. And I will return with our thief.
Cerin: Excellent. I wish you luck, then.

The knight informs you that a garrison in a nearby village has been plagued by a thief who has been stealing supplies. The thief has struck the garrison many times, but has never been caught, leading Cerin to believe that the thief has some special training that allows it to avoid detection.

Following his advice, you ride swiftly to the garrison in the hopes of catching the thief. But will your mount cooperate with you in this effort?

    Frogzard Cavalry
Have you gained your mount's trust?

    Stat Used: Charisma

      «If you fail the roll...»
    «If you succeed the roll...»

The mount seems to tolerate you for the time being and takes you straight to your destination, avoiding undue delays. You arrive at the garrison and wait for night....

    «Scene: Garrison, night time»

    «You»: All quiet so far....

«A ninja dressed in grey drops from above!»

???: Strange, the knights aren't supposed to patrol this route.
«You»: Wow. I didn't think you would drop in right in front of me. How convenient.
«You»: In the name of the Frogzard Knights, I hereby place you under arrest!
???: Ah, a tenderfoot knight. That explains the breech in our agreement.
«You»: Hey! Are you listening? Shouldn't you be... surrendering?
???: Not hardly. Look, you're new here so I'd really rather not kill you if possible.
«You»: Sorry, but I have orders to bring you in. You've got no choice but to fight me if you refuse to surrender!
???: A pity. I had hoped you would be less duty-bound, like your comrades. As you wish!
      1 BATTLE: Deren Ninja
      Full Heal
    ???: You fool!
«You»: You have connections with the knights here, which means they let you steal their supplies! But why?

    «Cerin enters the scene.»

Cerin: They were no doubt receiving compensation for looking the other way. How disappointing.
Cerin: I had hoped that perhaps you were a misguided member of our rather secretive allies, but it seems you're merely a petty thief.
???: Petty? I have more connections than you kn....
Cerin: I'm quite aware of your connections, actually. They were all arrested earlier this very night.
Cerin: My thanks, «You»! You made it all possible.

    «Scene: Back at Deren's practice grounds»

Cerin: I see Tathlin's praise was well deserved. I am honored to welcome you into the Frogzard Knights!

Congratulations! You are now a Level 7 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

    Knight Level 7

Cerin: Your first assignment has gone well, but do not rest easily just yet.
Cerin: I have already prepared a new assignment for you. This one will send you deep into Stormfallen territory.
Cerin: Since you will be estranged from our assistance, this may be a good time to teach you basic First Aid.
  • I'm ready!
  • I need more time to think about this.

Cerin: Excellent! I hope you remembered to bring your Frogzard Knight armor.

«You equip the temporary Frogzard Knight Armour and meet with Cerin on Deren's practice grounds.»

Cerin: Your mission is of the utmost importance, «You».
    «You»: What is it, sir?
Cerin: Previously in your training, you encountered some Demon Knights experimenting with corruption magic, am I correct?
    «You»: How did you....
Cerin: It is unimportant as to how. What matters at this point is that I believe these knights were not acting under the authority of their queen.
    «You»: Sir?
Cerin: What I am about to tell you is classified information, known only to my most trusted operatives within the order.
Cerin: It is the belief of King Tralin, and of myself, that the war against Stormfallen is being fought under false pretenses.
Cerin: It has long been perpetuated that Stormfallen started the conflict, yet ancient historical texts suggest that this is not the case.
    «You»: Then what actually happened?
Cerin: It is said that a war between demons and humans many years ago sparked an event in which a portion of the Western Expanse was obliterated.
Cerin: The event led to a distrust of mages at the time, and especially of demons. It is believed arrived shortly after this event, so her arrival was ill-timed.
Cerin: My king believes that the Paladin Order mistakenly marked Tyranna and her followers as another invasion force from Heck.
Cerin: If this were the case, then Rennd would have followed suit. And Rennd was among the most influential kingdoms at the time.
«You»: But what does the Paladin Order have to gain from this?
Cerin: It's uncertain if their intentions are malicious or not, but Rennd seemed too eager to make Tyranna into a threat, and I suspect that is why she became one.
Cerin: The war that followed destroyed virtually all of the West.
Cerin: The devastation dwarfed even the first such cataclysm. If this war was, in fact, the result of human manipulation... then thousands have died for nothing.
«You»: So we're seeking to prove the truth behind this war. Very well. What must I do?
Cerin: In order to confirm my king's hypothesis, we need evidence that the conflict is being exaggerated.
Cerin: I want you to venture into Stormfallen territory and investigate some of the villages that have fallen to Stormfallen's legions.
Cerin: I also want you to further investigate the corruption magic. I have a feeling that Tyranna does not endorse it.... in fact, I suspect she isn't even aware of it.
Cerin: I have identified one particular legion which I believe has crafted this demon magic in secret. They may be followers of Stragath who wish to see Tyranna fall.
Cerin: If that is the case, it means that much of the case against Stormfallen is a finely-crafted lie perpetuated by outside forces.
    «You»: I will investigate immediately!
Cerin: Excellent. Since you are headed into hostile territory, you will be in danger and aid cannot reach you.
Cerin: I have prepared a First-Aid Kit for you. It is full of herbal remedies that do wonders for healing injuries, illnesses and ailments.
Cerin: If you return successfully, I will teach you how to craft a First-Aid Kit of your own.

    «Scene: Near Stormfallen»

«You» (Thought): Cerin told me that there was a village near this area which fell recently to the demons.
«You» (Thought): Reports from Rennd suggest that the villages were forcibly relocated and have been used as slave labor.
«You» (Thought): I hope Cerin is right.... for the sake of those villagers.
      4 BATTLES

«You»: ...Not here. Maybe over the next hill...

«You repeat 4 BATTLES as above, followed by another roll.»
«If you succeed the roll, you enter the village and find a Demon Knight holding a villager hostage!»

«You»: Halt, demon! Let the villager go!
Demon Knight: I don't know what you're doing out here, Frogzard Knight, but this village is under the Obsidian Legion's protection!
Demon Knight: Leave while you still draw breath!
«You»: Wait, protection? Rennd has reported that you're using these villagers as slave labor.
Villager: Slave labor? We were merely relocated because our resources were running out.
Villager: Tyranna's troops have been very kind to us for the most part. They've given us shelter and food, and kept us safe.
    «You»: Safe from whom?
Demon Knight: From the Crimson Legion.
    «You»: The Crimson Legion?
Demon Knight: Tyranna doesn't like to admit it, but some of her followers are more zealous than others about the war.
Demon Knight: The Crimson Legion has been slaughtering villages against the Queen's orders. We relocated this village to hide them.
Villager: I've heard they even take some as captives and subject them to horrible experiments!
«You»: Why does Tyranna allow this?
Demon Knight: She doesn't want to, but the Crimson Legion are some of her best warriors. If she disbands them, Rennd would have us at a disadvantage.
«You»: I see... that is a very different tale than Rennd has been telling to those in the East.
Demon Knight: Unsurprising. They have been after us from the start, swaying other kingdoms to attack us, and....

«From off the scene, a voice can be heard.»

???: Do my eyes deceive me, or are you making casual conversation with a Knight of Deren?

«Demon Lord Eir enters the scene.»

Demon Knight: ...! Demon Lord Eir of the Crimson Legion! What are your scum doing here? The Obsidian Legion is....
Demon Lord Eir: The Obsidian Legion is weak, and refuses to do what must be done. Our Queen's orders to destroy the invaders are quite clear.
Demon Lord Eir: Yet here I find one of yours striking up conversation with the enemy, feeding them information.
Demon Lord Eir: Perhaps I should inform the Queen of the Obsidian Legion's treachery, giving our enemies information. Then the Crimson Legion can assume control of this camp.
Demon Knight: You would lie to the Queen to consolidate your own power?
Demon Lord Eir: Who says it is a lie? It is my word as a Demon Lord against yours. No one can vouch for you.
Demon Lord Eir: Besides... you're dead.
  • !!!

«Through the silhouettes, Eir can be seen viciously striking the Demon Knight, ending with a finishing blow that causes the Knight to crumble and fall to the ground.»

    «You»: I won't permit this!
Demon Lord Eir: Then try to stop me, human!
      1 BATTLE: Demon Lord Eir
      Full Heal
Demon Lord Eir: Ugh.... I underestimated you. It shall not happen again. When next we meet, you will fall.

«Eir swiftly retreats from the scene. You are presented with two choices.»
  • Use First-Aid on Demon Knight!
«The Demon Knight recovers from his injuries.»

Demon Knight: You... healed me? Why?
«You»: You are protecting these people. I have no quarrel with you.
Demon Knight: Even though we may meet on the field of battle one day?
«You»: If that should happen, then so be it. But today, it is clear to me that there is no reason for you to die.
«You»: You have a responsibility to uphold, regardless. You must inform your superiors and your Queen of today's events.
Demon Knight: Indeed. I am glad that we crossed paths, Knight of Deren.
      «You»: As am I.
  • Leave
«Regardless of choice above, you return and meet Cerin on Deren's practice grounds.»

«You»: It is as King Tralin predicted. There is a single faction within Stormfallen, the Crimson Legion, that is responsible for the corruption of humans.
«You»: The reports from Rennd are most likely fabrications as well.
Cerin: I am pleased with your diligence on this assignment.
Cerin: It will be a little while until your next assignment, so let us retire to the alchemy labs so that I may show you how to produce your own First-Aid Kit.

Congratulations! You are now a Level 7 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

      Knight Level 8

Cerin: It is time to look into some rather distressing rumors surrounding Granemor's special 'benefactors'.
Cerin: When rich benefactors arrive out of nowhere and transform a city virtually overnight into a strong military state, something is amiss.
Cerin: Since you may be facing some very defensively-oriented foes, this may be a good time for you to learn the Wounding Arrow Barrage.
    • I'm ready!
    • I need more time to think about this.

Cerin: Excellent! I hope you remembered to bring your Frogzard Knight armor. You won't be allowed to train in anything else.

«You equip the temporary Frogzard Knight Armour and meet with Cerin on Deren's practice grounds.»

Cerin: The events you experienced in Stormfallen's domain have me concerned. However, there is another problem: there are suspicious things throughout this entire war.
Cerin: For example, Granemor has long been heavily invested in defense, due to its proximity to Darkovia. The destruction of Granemor seems to have changed that, though.
Cerin: They quickly rose to become an elite military power, with ample funding to commit to the war effort against Stormfallen. And they seem eager to get involved.
Cerin: The aid was desperately needed, so no one asked any questions at the time. But King Tralin has begun to worry.
Cerin: It seems odd for so much anonymous funding to spring out of nowhere.
«You»: Then where is it coming from?
Cerin: We aren't sure. But something is very much amiss. We'd like you to investigate.
«You»: Are you certain I should be wearing Deren's colors while I go snooping around there?
Cerin: You're right, you definitely shouldn't be. That is precisely why I'm going to issue you some standard issue 'Emoran Knight armor.
Cerin: Be careful. If your deception is caught and traced back to Deren, we will likely spark a political incident.
      «You»: That won't happen.

You sneak into the fort wearing Granemor's knight armor and try to fit in by performing some menial chores around town. A captain of the guard stops you and asks you to perform a routine "cleaning" of the graveyard... this would be a good time to get some archery practice to help you learn the Wounding Arrow Barrage!

«You commence a mini game, where skeletons run amok in the cemetery. Click on the skeletons to shoot them down.»

«Take too long to shoot 10 skeletons and...»

«You»: Do these undead ever die? ...Re-die?

«You return to the mini game for another attempt.»
      «Once 10 skeletons have been shot down...»

      Wounding Arrow
Have you cleared the graveyard of enemies?
      Difficulty: 61

        «If you failed the roll...»
«If you succeeded the roll, you obtain the Arrow Barrage skill and meet with a Granemor Captain in the town square.»

Granemor Captain: Good work, soldier! Now take these parts down to the underground. I'll meet you down there shortly.
      «You»: Err, yes sir!

«Click on the pile of bones held by the Granemor Captain to proceed with the dialog.»

«You» (Thought): "Project"? What sort of project requires the body parts of undead?

You gather up the parts and bring them down to a well-hidden underground passage within the keep, as directed by the captain. You then find a convenient stone to hide behind.

«Scene: Underground Lair. The Granemor Captain speaks to a Necromancer.»

Granemor Captain: We've brought some premium parts today, sir.
Necromancer: Excellent. And you are continuing to bring in shipments of the dead soldiers from battlefields in the West?
Granemor Captain: Of course. We bury them in the graveyard to avoid raising suspicion.
Granemor Captain: Then we simply wait for them to rise as undead, smash them apart, and bring the leftovers to you for recycling.
Necromancer: Clever. The Necromancer Order is quite pleased with how efficient your order has been.
Necromancer: It seems our investment in this town was worthwhile after all.
«You» (Thought): How horrid! So they're taking funding from necromancers in exchange for providing raw parts to grow the necromancers' undead legions?
«You» (Thought): This is bad news. I'd better get out of here and report back to Cerin.
Necromancer: What was that? I heard something. Captain, were you followed?
«You» (Thought): Shoot! I'd better get out of here fast!

You dump your armor and attempt to make a quick escape... but can you make it out?

You escape pursuit and make your way back to Deren.

      «Scene: Deren, practice grounds»

«You»: Sir, I bring word from Granemor. Their funding comes from the necromancers, in exchange for a steady supply of bodies to build their undead armies.
«You»: I had to flee to avoid capture before I could learn more, though.
Cerin: What a gruesome deal. It seems that our allies are not as forthcoming as we would like. The motives behind this war grow darker with every day.
Cerin: We shall have to check up on Rennd, I suspect, as well. I hope you are ready, for this could be dangerous.

Congratulations! You are now a Level 9 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

      Knight Level 9

Cerin: You have performed all of your assignments so far most admirably. Yet this one is perhaps the most important of all.
Cerin: It's time to look into Rennd. Their order initiated the war with demonkind, and I fear there are things we haven't been told.
Cerin: This task will require a knight of formidable skill, so it is time you learned of the Harmonizing Strike!

Cerin: It is unfortunate that I must ask you to do this, but it is time to investigate Rennd itself.
Cerin: We know now that the war has been perpetuated by lies from Rennd and the treachery of Stormfallen's Crimson Legion.
Cerin: And Granemor has no interest in ceasing the bloodshed. It falls to Deren to be the last voice of reason, and to bring an end to this war.
Cerin: To do this, I need concrete evidence of the falsehoods fueling this war.
«You»: What can I do to prove something like that? It will take a great deal of evidence...
Cerin: And we know where to find it. Rennd's historical archives.
«You»: Why would Rennd keep accurate historical logs of the war? Wouldn't it make more sense to keep false records to perpetuate their lie?
Cerin: They wouldn't. But there is a way to prove that the records are falsified. Stormfallen has access to a spiritual entity called the Flame of Truth.
Cerin: It is a neutral creature that exists only to record Lorian history, and unlike the unreliability of human historians, it lacks the capability to distort the truth.
Cerin: I have sent a secret correspondence to Queen Tyranna, asking for her permission to access this powerful entity.
Cerin: If we can obtain copies of Rennd's historical archives and measure them against the truth-telling records of the Flame of Truth...
«You»: Then Rennd's treachery would be exposed. But Cerin....
Cerin: You are concerned about Tathlin.
«You»: I am. I don't know how much of this he is aware of, but he doesn't seem the sort to commit his men to death in a bloody war like this.
«You»: I'm not sure that General Herous is entirely satisfied with his situation either. They both seem like honorable men.
Cerin: That is a fair point. However, we must consider the greater good here. This war has claimed many lives. Ending this war will prevent countless more senseless deaths.
Cerin: The ends do not justify the means, «You».
      «You»: You're right... alright, I'll do it.
Cerin: In order to give you the best chance of success, I will grant you a special magic spell.
Cerin: Our order has long believed in harmony with nature, and adapting to its changing conditions. It is why our techniques are designed to adapt to changing battle conditions.
Cerin: Our keystone technique is the ultimate representation of this: a blessing from the Elemental Lords that shifts the nature of our attacks to inflict a variety of powerful ailments!
Cerin: Fortunately, as it is a blessing, this power is fairly easy to grant to others, provided you have the authority to do so. And so, I shall recite the proclamation and grant you this power.

«Cerin leans backwards, looking at the sky, as he prepares his recitation.»

Cerin: Hear me, Elemental Lords! I can testify to the virtuous nature that lives within «You»'s heart!
Cerin: As a knight of Deren, their blade has served justice and their shield defended the innocent. Grant me your approval to bestow them with the honor of the knights of old!

«The sky rapidly descends to darkness and clouds form above you.»

Cerin: By the authority given to me by King Tralin of Deren and the Elemental Lords, I hereby grant you the blessing of the Harmonizing Strike!

«Lightning bolts rain down from the clouds onto and all around you. Shortly after, the sky clears and Cerin ends his recitation.»

Cerin: The blessing is granted. It will take you some time to wield its power fully, so I suggest you get practice with it while on assignment.
«You»: I shall. Thank you, Cerin. I will prove myself worthy of this blessing, and return with the evidence you need.

      «Scene: Kingdom of Rennd»

Tathlin: Greetings, «You»! How goes your training with Cerin of Deren?
«You»: I have nearly completed advanced training. I wish we could spend time catching up, friend, but I have urgent business.
      Tathlin: Of course.

«You are presented with two choices.»
    • Deren wishes to know more about the war's history. May I please see Rennd's historical archives?

Can you convince Tathlin to grant you access?

          «If you fail the roll...»

Tathlin: I am sorry, dear friend, but what you ask is impossible. The archives are our only logs of the war's events, and we are told not to grant access to anyone.
«You»: Then I have no choice but to insist, by the authority of King Tralin of Deren, that you grant me access to the archives as part of a criminal investigation into the war.

«Dialogue continues below, where you demand access.»
          «If you succeed the roll...»

Tathlin: Well... I could get into quite a lot of trouble, but you are one that I trust with my life. I suppose it would be alright to let you in.

          «Scene: Rennd's Archives. Tathlin accompanies you.»

«You»: Ah, this is the book I need....
Tathlin: Hold on now, friend, you didn't say you were going to borrow anything. I can't let you leave with our historical records.
«You»: Cerin only needs a copy of them, Tathlin. I'll bring them back the very moment that he's done.
Tathlin: All the same, «You», I am bound by the law. You cannot leave with it.
«You»: I must, Tathlin. If you cannot let me go....

          1 BATTLE: Sir Tathlin
          Full Heal

«Dialogue continues where you return to Deren below.»
    • Deren is conducting an investigation into the war, and we demand access to your archives!
Tathlin: ....what? This is a gross overstepping of King Tralin's authority! You can't just demand the right to access our secret archives!
«You»: I was afraid you'd say that, Tathlin. Unfortunately, I don't have time to explain myself. I'm going into those archives, like it or not.

        1 BATTLE: Sir Tathlin
        Full Heal

«Tathlin kneels on the ground, defeated.»

«You»: I will take the utmost care in handling your archives, Tathlin. I'm sorry.

«Scene: Rennd's Archives. A Pria Knight stands in your way.»

«You»: I wish I could have done this peacefully, but... I need those archives.
«You»: By order of King Tralin of Deren, I demand that you stand aside and grant me access.
Rennd Knight: Not a chance! I serve my king, not yours!
        «You»: As you wish.

        2 BATTLES: Pria Knight

«If you fail the roll, repeat 2 BATTLES as above, followed by the roll.»
          «If you succeed the roll...»

«You»: Ah, this is the book I need....

          «Tathlin confronts you.»

Tathlin: You can't do this, «You»!
«You»: Tathlin, please stand aside. I must return swiftly.
          Tathlin: I cannot!
«You»: Then I am forced to make you.

          1 BATTLE: Sir Tathlin
          Full Heal

«Dialogue continues below, where you return to Deren.»
«You return to Deren and meet with Cerin.»

«You»: Sir, I have brought the archives. Unfortunately, Tathlin would not part with them willingly, and I was forced to fight him before I could make my escape.
Cerin: It is unfortunate, but I was afraid this day might come. The alliance of our three kingdoms has been slowly fracturing... perhaps this will be the wedge that finally splits it apart.
Cerin: Tyranna has received our message and is preparing some sort of special event. We will be able to finally reveal our hand there.
Cerin: Though I suspect that the events of the days to come shall only bring more suffering than ever before... I pray that I am wrong.

Congratulations! You are now a Level 10 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

      Knight Level 10

Cerin: I am proud to say that you are a fully-trained Frogzard Knight. I have no more skills to teach you, and I welcome you at my side defending Deren.

      Barry Jotter!

      «Scene: Warlic's Shop»

Warlic: Ah. «You». Thank you for coming.
«You»: What did you want to see me about?
Warlic: Let me introduce my "nephew".
Warlic: This is Barry Jotter. He's spending some time with me while he's on a break from Zardwarts.
«You»: I thought that was just a myth.
Warlic: What? (Chuckles) No, no, Frogwartz is the name of the wizard's academy he attends.
      «You»: Ah, I see.
«You»: What did you want to see me about?
Warlic: One moment. Barry, will you please check the cauldron in the back and make sure it doesn't boil over?
      Barry: Yes Uncle Wally.

«Barry leaves the scene to check on the cauldron.»

Warlic: Argh, I dislike that name...
      «You»: Well?
Warlic: You have to help me «You», the kid is driving me crazy!
      «You»: I'm not much of a babysitter.
Warlic: Kalanyr told me you had a way with... the younger crowd.
«You»: Oh, did he also mention how my last adventure with the Jr. Squires ended?
Warlic: You don't understand. Every time I turn around he's moved something, broken something, or fiddle with a potion.
Warlic: Yesterday I was brewing a healing potion for a client and when he drank it, he sprouted an extra head, arm, and a 6 foot tail!
Warlic: Barry thought the potion needed more "purple". So he added some moon berries.
      «You»: Still I don't see what I can-

«The cauldron at the back suddenly explodes and black smoke fills the ceiling!»

Warlic: Please «You»! I'm losing my mind. Can't you just take him out for a few hours and show him Battleon?
      «You»: Well, I don't.......

      «CRASH!»

Barry: Ummm... Uncle Wally? Hypothetically speaking - what is the best spell for extinguishing flames?

      «Warlic looks down.»

      Warlic: ....
«You»: All right. I'll take him for a few hours.

«You take Barry along your travels. First stop: Aria's Shop!»

Aria: Hi «You». And who is this?
«You»: Hi Aria. This is Barry. He's Warlic's "nephew" and I'm showing him around.
Aria: Hello Barry, welcome to Battleon.
Barry: Hi, thanks. You have some cool animals here.
Aria: Thank you. Feel free to look around.

«Barry leaves the scene to explore the shop.»

Aria: So why are you babysitting Warlic's "nephew"?
«You»: (Chuckles) Because he's been driving Warlic crazy getting into everything.
Aria: Oh, he seems harmless enough.

«CRASH! Silhouettes of animals can be seen running across the scene!»

Aria: My pens and cages! He let all the animals loose!
      «You»: Don't worry, I'll get them.

      «Scene: Plains»

«You»: Stay close. I can't believe you let all of Aria's animals go.
Barry: (Sniffles) I just wanted to pet them.
«You»: Looks like we've got trouble. Stay behind me.

      «You»: Shhh, there's one of Aria's beast. Don't...
      Barry: I'll get it!

«Barry chases after the Platypulse which swiftly flees.»

«You»: ...chase it. This is going to take a while!

      Several hours later. Aria's shop.

Aria: Thank you «You» for rounding them up for me.
«You»: You're welcome. Now Barry has something to say to you. Don't you Barry?
Barry: I'm... I'm sorry Miss Aria.
Aria: It's okay Barry. None of the animals were hurt.
Aria: Trouble! It looks like some of the forest beasties followed you home.

      «You»: Not soon enough.
      Aria: Mmmmm.
«You»: I think maybe we'll leave you now, you've suffered enough.

«Leaving Aria's shop, the next place you take Barry to is Yulgar's Inn.»

Yulgar: Hey «You»! How is it going?
«You»: About as well as can be expected.
«You»: This is Barry. Warlic's "nephew". I'm showing him around.
Yulgar: Yes, I've heard about it.
Yulgar: Hans, why don't you take Barry into the Lounge and give him some cider or something.
Hans: Will do. Come on Barry.

«Hans leads the way and Barry follows.»

Yulgar: I've heard you've been having quite the time.
«You»: Has it spread around that fast?
Yulgar: You know Battleon, word of disasters travel fast.
«You»: I don't know how much more of this I can take.

«CRASH! Hans returns to the scene with some bad news.»

      Hans: He smashed both mugs.
Yulgar: What did he do, throw them?
      Hans: No, he touched them.
      Yulgar: ???
«You»: Maybe we should go.... Barry!

      «Barry returns to the scene.»

      Barry: Sorry Mr. Yulgar.
Yulgar: Come on Barry, I think it's time to go.

«You take Barry back to Warlic. Twilly is in his shop too!»

      Warlic: «You»! Back so soon?
      «You»: Actually, it's been a few hours.
Warlic: Has it? It seems like you just left.
Barry: It was great Uncle Wally! We fought monsters and chased animals... and...
Warlic: (Cringe) That's great Barry. Why don't you get ready for supper.
      Barry: Okay!

      «Barry leaves the scene.»

      Warlic: How much damage?
      «You»: Some, nothing too terrible.
Warlic: I tell you what «You», I'm not sure I'll last the week.
«You»: Oh, he's not that bad. He's just young and excitable.
Warlic: Great! I'm glad you feel that way.
«You»: Oh, no! I'm done babysitting!
Warlic: Please «You», I have to get these orders out!
      «You»: (Mumble)
      Twilly: «You», I have a question.
      «You»: Yes, Twilly?
Twilly: Why does everyones keep referring to Barrys as Warlic's "Nephew".
«You»: Would you want to claim him?
Warlic: It is more complicated than you know. I have no relatives, not in the way that most mean by the word.
Warlic: Barry is the son of one of my oldest friends, Jameson D. Trotter... one unfortunately that...
Warlic: It's far too complicated and sensitive to explain fully now. Suffice to say I made a promise a long time ago...
«You»: You had orders to get out... we can explore Barry's storied origins at some later time. The sooner you get done the better.
      Warlic: Right.

«Warlic goes to work on his orders as the scene fades to black. The next day in Warlic's shop...»

«You»: What do you mean "gone"?
Warlic: I mean "gone". I went to his room when I didn't hear any crashes for a while and he wasn't there.
      «You»: And that upsets you?
Warlic: Well.... of course it does. I made a promise to keep him safe. And besides, there's more.
      «You»: More?
Warlic: A stone goblet is missing.
«You»: Maybe he just moved it.
Warlic: No, it's gone. I've looked everywhere.
      «You»: I'm sure they'll both show up.
Warlic: You don't understand! The goblet...
      «You»: Yes?
Warlic: Well let me use just one word, Akriloth.
«You»: Oh my! This can't be good.
Warlic: We should be okay as long as it doesn't come in contact with blood.
«You»: Err, we are talking Barry here.

«Scene: Yulgar's Inn. The missing stone goblet is on Yulgar's counter!»

      Hans: It is pretty.
Yulgar: Yes, but I suspect it is far more valuable than young Barry knows.
Yulgar: No doubt Warlic is going to be looking for it.
Hans: What do all the symbols mean?
      Yulgar: I haven't a clue... OUCH.

      «The goblet jumps a little.»

      Hans: Are you okay?
      Yulgar: The thing bit me!
      Hans: You're bleeding!

«A jet of black smoke erupts from the goblet as it slowly fills the inn. Over at Warlic's shop...»

      Warlic: ???
      Both: BARRY!

«Warlic and you rush over to Yulgar's Inn. As the black smoke clears, Yulgar and Hans can be seen with black soot all over them. The stone goblet is also missing!»

      Warlic: What happened?
Yulgar: Hans and I were examining the goblet Barry left here and it bit me.
      Warlic: Bit you?
Yulgar: Well, maybe not bit. I guess I snagged my finger on a sharp edge or something.
Hans: The next thing we know the place is filling up with smoke and heat.
Yulgar: Once the smoke cleared, you and «You» were here.
«You»: Just what exactly are we dealing with?
      Warlic: I don't know.
«You»: Well, how bad is it?
      Warlic: I don't know.
«You»: You did trap this thing?
Warlic: Not exactly. After the Fire Wars it was given to me for safe keeping.
«You»: And how is that working out for you?
      Warlic: You're not helping «You».
«You»: Sorry. If you didn't trap it, who did?
      Warlic: Akriloth.
«You»: Oh boy! If Akriloth felt it necessary to trap this thing, it can't be good for us.
Warlic: That's what I was thinking. We have to find Barry.

      «Back at Warlic's shop...»

      «You»: What now Wally?
      Warlic: Err, «You».
      «You»: (Chuckle) Yes?
Warlic: I never promised YOUR father anything! (Glares)
      «You»: Right. Sorry.
Warlic: To answer your question, I need something that belongs to Barry so I can scry him.
      «You»: And that's why we're back here?
      Warlic: Exactly.

«Warlic leaves the scene and returns with a grey sock.»

      Warlic: This should do.

«Warlic drops the sock into the cauldron.»

      Warlic: I see him.
      «You»: Where is he?
Warlic: I'm not sure... lots of trees...
«You»: He's in the forest. We need to narrow it down, the forest is a big place.
Warlic: I see... he's... BARRY NO GET OUT OF THERE!

      «Warlic collapses. A short while later...»

      Warlic: Ugh... how strange.
«You»: I've never known you to faint before.
      Warlic: I didn't.
«You»: You were passed out on the floor.
Warlic: I know, but I didn't faint. I was attacked.
      «You»: ???
Warlic: It felt like a hand reached out and clubbed me.
      «You»: How could that happen?
Warlic: I'm not sure, but I think they followed my scry line to Barry.
«You»: That would mean a tremendous power.
Warlic: Not only that. It means a tremendous power that has Barry!
«You»: You mentioned something about the forest.
      Warlic: Did I?
«You»: Yes, just before the attack. Do you know where Barry is?
      Warlic: I believe so.
«You»: You don't seem too sure of it.
Warlic: I'm pretty sure, I just wish I was wrong.
      «You»: Where is he?
Warlic: He's in the Chamber of Fire.

«Scene: Forest. In the background, red rocks can be seen.»

Warlic: The chamber is just the other side of that rise.
«You»: Aren't you coming with me?
Warlic: No. Once we subdue the thing we need to re-imprison it. I need more time to prepare the goblet.
«You»: What am I supposed to do?
Warlic: Stall... and try to keep Barry alive.

«Warlic levitates away from the scene.»

«You»: Barry?! Need to make sure I keep myself alive!
        4 BATTLES
Full Heal after battles #2 and #4
«You»: No point in putting it off.

After traveling a distance you find an outcropping with a partially hidden doorway among the rubble...

«Scene: Inside the Chamber of Fire»

«You» (Thought): I've been in some hot places before, but this place is an oven!
«You» (Thought): Barry can't survive here for long. I have to find him.

      Barry: «You» wait!
        1 BATTLE: Fire Djinni
        Full Heal
      Barry: «You», stop!
      «You»: Barry! Get away!
Barry: NO you don't understand. He's good!
      «You»: What?
      Barry: He's good!
«You»: Barry, "good" people don't kidnap little boys.
Barry: He didn't kidnap me, I followed him here.
      «You»: He was imprisoned!
      Barry: Because he was good!
      «You»: ???
Barry: He wouldn't do what Akriloth wanted to he imprisoned him.
      «You»: Barry....
      Barry: No! It's not fair!

      «Warlic enters the scene.»

Warlic: «You» what is going on?
«You»: Seems Barry is under control of this beast. He's defending him.
      Warlic: Barry??
Barry: He won't listen to me Uncle Wally! He's good, not bad!
«You»: He says Akriloth imprisoned him because he would not cooperate.
      Warlic: I guess it's possible.
      Warlic: Does it talk?
Fire Being: I talk quite well Wally.
«You»: I bet you didn't promise his father anything either. (Chuckles)
      Warlic: (Glares)
Warlic: Do you have a name?
Fire Being: Of course, wizard. But with you I will not share it at this time.
      «You»: What do you mean?
Fire Being: I have suffered much in my long imprisonment. I must learn more about this new world before I share my name, so my allies may call for aid and my enemies may quake in fear.
«You»: How do we know you are telling the truth?
Fire Being: I did not hurt the boy.
Barry: He protected me from the others in the chamber.
Fire Being: I met some of them.
      Warlic: The boy can leave?
Fire Being: He is free to come and go as he wishes.
Warlic: Very well then. We will allow you to remain here.
      Fire Being: Thank you.
Warlic: But, be warned. I will hold you responsible for any more fire activity.
«You»: I will be watching you!

«Barry, Warlic and you leave the Chamber of Fire.»

Couple of dialogue additions for the Barry Jotter quest - both from the last paragraph after Warlic enters

"Fire Being: I have suffered much in my long imprisonment. I must leave __________ this new ________ I share my name, so my allies may call for aid and my enemies may quake in fear." -> "I must learn more about this new world before I share my name..."

      Rescue the Sacrifice!

Though the Paxia War was fought hard and true, and the Leaders were brought home, some in worse shape than others, the clan members Xov took for herslef never came home. When she claims something, it appears she means for keeps. Eukara Vox is asking that those who have attained Guardian status and training go on this dangerous mission to rescue the Clan members who are still prisoners in Xov's Base camp.

«Scene: Eukara's Library. Her Portal appears into the scene.»

Portal: Ms. Vox, you summoned me?
Eukara Vox: Yes, Portal. I need to talk to «You». Bring the Hero here, please.
Portal: I am afraid I cannot do that. You are overworked and still recovering. Taking the children on that trip was a bad idea.
Eukara Vox: You are my Portal. I am ask-
Portal: And I won't. I can take the Hero a message, but you are not going back to Lore's surface until you are well.
Eukara Vox: I love how everyone else thinks they know what is best for me.
Portal: Ms. Vox, I will take the message. You know that «You» and I have a great relationship.
      Eukara Vox: ...
      Portal: Relatively...
Eukara Vox: Very well. Even though it seems the Paxian leaders were rescued, the clan members were not. They are still in Xov's grasp.
Eukara Vox: «You» must infiltrate the base camp and get them back.
Eukara Vox: If they remain in Xov's grasp for much longer, I may not have the ability to heal them. As it is, I am not sure if what I have found is going to work.
Portal: I will take the message to the Hero. YOU, on the other hand, stay here and heal so you can be out there with them again. I know you miss being with the people of Lore.

      «Scene: Lolosia»

«You» (Thought): Something isn't right in Lolosia, but blast it if I can get a straight answer from anyone here.

«Vox's portal teleports into the scene.»

      Portal: «You».
«You»: Oh, no, not you. What is it this time? A zap to the backside, and spin on my head. Oh no, wait, a drop from the top of a building?
Portal: All plausible alternatives to my mission, and better ones, to be honest. But no. I have a message from Ms. Vox.
      «You»: Is she... okay?
Portal: She would be better had she not gone to school and tried to teach while still weak! No one listens to me.
      «You»: Yeah... Trigoras. *shivers*
Portal: You must rescue the clan members that never made it home. If they are in Xov's keeping much longer, they will not be...
«You»: ...able to come home. At least, as they should be, not as Xov wishes.
Portal: Yes. Go to the base camp and rescue them. It will not be easy. She has a great amount of reinforcements there, according to Ms. Vox.
«You»: No worries, Portal. Tell Eukara that I will not fail her.

      «Portal vanishes from the scene.»

      «You»: I hate that thing.

As you walk towards the base camp, things seem very off. Patches of the beautiful forest and roadside flowers become bland and colorless. At first it was a splash here and there, but soon enough, you become convinced this was the right path. The patchwork blandness became more widespread, until whole swaths of the country side was without the liveliness of color.

Clicking on the correct tent yields unique messages to each clan. Regardless of which tent you enter, you engage in 2 BATTLES, with a Full Heal after battle #2. Re-entering tents repeats the battles.»

Igneus - The clan members from Igneus have been spotted!
Nautica - The room with missing Nautica clan members was not easy to find!

Clan Members: Get us out of here «You»!

Dynami - Dynami's missing clan member has been discovered!

Zyrain: Get us out of here «You»!
«Once at least one clan is rescued, you receive a message "You have rescued «» clans!" after visiting a tent. Once you have saved at least four clans, you can proceed with the dialogue by clicking on the Leave button.»

Well done hero! You have rescued the missing clan members, however Xov's magic is terrible. Leaving the rescued in various stages of dulling. Even amongst the worst of them you can sense a glimmer behind the dull, expressionless faces. You know hope is not lost as you race back to Eukara....

«Scene: Eukara's Library. You bring in the entire group of now freed clan members to see Eukara.»

Eukara Vox: I hope you rescued them in time, «You». If not, this is all my fault.
«You»: I am sure they will be okay.
Eukara Vox: Your bravery is unquestionable and will be rewarded indeed. Right after I fix this mess.

«Eukara extends her arm holding the staff. Colorful beams flood the scene, and as the beams disappear, Eukara is seen collapsed on the ground from over-exertion, as she retracts her arm, the final sprinkles of magic fading away.»

«You»: Portal, take them all back to their clan leaders! I will stay with Ms. Vox.

«Portal appears and whisks the entire group of clan members away.»

      «You»: Help! Anyone!

«Kastio appears from the jar of sand he was residing in.»

Kastio: My lady! I will take care of her. You... read something while I attend to her until Portal comes back for you.
«You»: You're giving me... something to read? *shrugs* Okay let's take a look.
«You»: The history of Potheet V and the Movement of Peace. The bookmark is on the chapter "The Era of the Downward Spiral". I wonder...

      Xov's Fire Part 1!

Xov: This has been an unforeseen disaster.
Truphma General: All the reports... they ensured a victory.
Xov: My words given to each leader still hold merit. Though the clans came out of this, they barely pulled through.
Xov: Their leaders were affected, even if only slightly, and will slowly begin to succumb to our ways. The island will fall.
Truphma General: The clan members we lost, though? Reports have come in saying they are back in their clan homes and look to be returned to their original, imperfect state.
      Xov: Eukara Vox...
      Truphma General: Yes, my lady.

«Xov extends her arm holding her staff as she commands her general.»

Xov: Leave me! Seek out one called Bree'ha. A... Drakel leader. His people are next on my list, creative individuals with machinery and technology. Tell me what you find.
      Truphma General: Yes, my Queen.

«The Truphma General leaves the scene and Xov retracts her arm.»

Xov: Why is this world so annoyingly resistant? I have never had this much trouble, nor anyone else in our history!
      ???: You are forgetting something.
      Xov: I forget nothing.
???: But you have. You are forgetting the Prophecy.
      Xov: The Prophecy... Surely not?
???: Think about it. What does the Prophecy say?
Xov: "There will come a day, when striving will cease and the leader of the people will have to come face to face with that which could destroy her and all that her people have worked for.
Xov: This person, The One, will be waiting on a world where the leader will find herself at a loss. Battles will not be easy. Wins will be few.
Xov: It is only when The One is destroyed, will the world fall and the Leader will fully extend her reach over the multiverse."
???: So, Xov, who is your real enemy?
      Xov: «You».
???: And who is responsible for this enemy?
      Xov: The Order of Moravion.
???: Very good, my child. Very good.

Robina: Well, he is close to Paxia, «You». Perhaps, with the war won, he has uncovered information about Xov's plans or movements?
«You»: Of course! Thank you, Robina.

«You»: I will need a way to get there. Looks like I need to visit Captain Rhubarb.

      «Scene: On board Captain Rhubarb's boat»

Captain Rhubarb: Ahoy, «You». And what brings ye here on this fine day? Can't get enough of my boat?
«You»: She's a fine vessel, Captain, but I am here to see if you can grant me passage to the Dark Lands.
Captain Rhubarb: Hmmm, Dark Lands... Probably carrying a note from the lass for Vephoma, aye?
«You»: A note from what lass?
Captain Rhubarb: Ms. Vox, the teacher, matey! Everyone knows that there is a sweet somethin' 'tween 'em.
«You»: I wouldn't let her hear you say that, Captain. She's rather sore about the rumors...
Captain Rhubarb: What for? Vephoma's a fine lad. Keeps the beasties in line, rules his own lands. How about... this. All the lads and lassies love a good dinner on a pirate boat under the stars...
Captain Rhubarb: Why, for a bit of coin, I am sure I could add in a bit of accordion playing too.
«You»: Captain, sir, it's really not necessary...
Captain Rhubarb: An old Petey the Parrot here does swimmingly in a butler's outfit.
«You»: Um... Captain, about that passage to the Dark Lands?
Captain Rhubarb: Right, right. Keep yer secrets, landlubber. But, if they should be needin' dinner...

Captain Rhubarb: Be seein' those bland sea monsters lately about these parts. Can't say I like it, not at all.
«You»: Xov has now gotten her hands on the sea. *sigh* Land, sea, air... No one is safe.

«The vessel sails along until it is almost at its destination.»

Captain Rhubarb: Aye, well, here we be, «You». I assume I have to take you home, aye?
Captain Rhubarb: I'll stay docked here fer a spell, but if'n ye ain't back in a half an hour, ye'll be needing to swim back home!
«You»: Thank you Captain. I doubt I'll need longer.

      «Scene: Dark Lands»

      «You»: Vephoma! Vephoma, it's me, «You»!

Vephoma: Ah, «You», you came. I was afraid the affected sea creatures would have stopped you.
«You»: You know Captain Rhubarb. No sea creature would hold him from sailing. So, what is wrong? You weren't exactly detailed in your message.
Vephoma: Ever since the War on Paxia, my little world has slowly begun to change. I've fought it off well enough, but there is only so much I can do.
Vephoma: Xov moving on Paxia opened up a whole new corridor of our world to her.
«You»: Yes, that was a rough war. I wondered about the after-effects of her attack. She's no longer just staying on the mainland, she's even corrupting lands across the sea.
Vephoma: The creatures are afraid. They seem terrified to leave the boundaries of my lands. And when I go out, the further east my feet carry me, the worse it is.
«You»: She has already moved beyond your lands to the easy?! But, surely she hasn't had THAT much time?
Vephoma: She has her eyes on Deren, the K'elds, and anything else that lurks on that island. The birds communicate a degree of apprehension when traveling southeast.
Vephoma: I see more and more sea creatures who have been affected by Xov's cursed touch.
«You»: The School of Thought is there, along with the Drakel. Both... creative entities...
Vephoma: Both are targets. I know they are.
«You»: I know what I must do. Thank you Vephoma.
Vephoma: Oh... um, «You», could you do me a favor?

«Vephoma extends his arm, holding a book in his hand.»

Vephoma: I have this book, and it is really overdue. You wouldn't happen to, well, have the time later, to give it back to Ms. Vox, would you?
      «You»: Sure.

«You take the book from Vephoma.»

«You»: "Dragonflies and Their Personalities Across Systems" Interesting... choice.
b]Vephoma: Just... return the book, please.
      «You»: Alright, alright.
«You» (Thought): Now to figure out exactly where her hands have gotten in to. K'eld Naer? Deren? School of Thought to talk to Nel? I just wish I knew...
«You» (Thought): I better hurry back before Cap'n leaves me to swim home.

«The Truphma and Bree'ha enter the beach hut behind them.»

«You» (Thought): What is this... Truphma's business here? I'd better listen.

«You arrive at the entrance to the beach hut.»

      Truphma: ...that is her wish.
      Bree'ha: And her terms?
Truphma: For now, she proposes an alliance. You, above all others, seem to understand her drive. If you work with her to bring this world under her fist, you will have a part in it.
Bree'ha: Others have made such promises.
Truphma: Others were not Xov Arakue, Sir Bree'ha.
Bree'ha: Indeed. Tell your queen, Commander, that I am interested. We can work out the details upon a later date. For now, I will start spreading the message and make way for *your* queen.
Truphma: Very well. I will return to her and she will be in contact with you.
«You» (Thought): Oh... this isn't good.

      Ghost Rusters!

«Scene: Battleon. A scream echoes out from Aria's pet shop and you rush over to her shop. You find Aria with both hands on her mouth.»

«You»: Aria! I heard a scream-- are you okay?
      Aria: It was HORRIBLE, «You»!
      «You»: What happened?
Aria: I was polishing a new sword I just purchased and a monster came in and attacked me!
«You»: That's horrible! What kind of monster was it?
      Aria: I'm... not sure.
Aria: Now that I think about it, it kind of looked like my uncle Leo.
«You»: Your uncle Leo? Why would your uncle attack you? That doesn't make sense.
Aria: Even less than you think. Uncle Leo died when I was five.
      «You»: ?!?!
      «You»: So what happened?
Aria: I tried to fight him off with the sword, but he backed me up against the counter and knocked it from my hands!
      «You»: Then what?
Aria: I...I thought I was... dead... so I just closed my eyes....
Aria: When I opened them again, it was gone!
      «You»: Gone?
Aria: It just disappeared! And «You»....
      Aria: It took my sword.

Valencia: «You»! Thank goodness it's you!
«You»: What happened, Valencia? I heard a shriek.
Valencia: You got me. Ghost attacks have been happening all over Battleon!
      «You»: What kind of ghosts?
Valencia: I believe I recognized a couple of them. As far as I can tell, they're ghosts of dead heroes mostly.
«You»: Why would the ghosts of dead heroes be attacking people?
Valencia: I can't say, but this one stole one of my swords. It was really old and pretty rare.
      «You»: This doesn't make sense.

      «Another scream from somewhere!»

      «You»: Here we go again...
        2 BATTLES
        Full Heal
«You»: This is going to get old quickly.
Valencia: Why would a ghost need a sword?
«You»: I don't know. The same thing happened to Aria 'bout 20 minutes ago.
Valencia: Aria? Why would she need a sword?
      «You»: (Shrugs) I don't know. I didn't get a chance to ask her.
«You»: Anyway... where did you find the sword that was taken?
Valencia: Off the back of a travelling salesman. I figured I'd make a pretty penny reselling it.
«You»: Hmm, I wonder if Aria bought her sword from the same salesman?
Valencia: Possibly. Do you think it's a coincidence?
      «You»: No, I don't believe in coincidences.

      «Scene: Back at Aria's Shop»

Aria: «You», they're back! Ghosts scoured through here, almost as if they were looking for something. What's going on?
«You»: I don't know. I came back as quick as I could, but there was yet another ghost attack.
Aria: Oh my! Was anyone hurt?
«You»: No, but this ghost took a sword from Valencia.
      Aria: ????
«You»: Tell me, did you buy your sword from a traveling salesman?
Aria: Yes, I did. Was there something wrong with the sword?
«You»: I'm not sure. Out of curiosity, why did you want a sword to begin with, anyway?
Aria: It was to be a present for Hans.
«You»: I see. There is something about those swords.
Aria: Yulgar would be the most likely person to talk to about swords. Maybe he can help you figure out what is going on!
«You»: That's a good point. If you're sure you're okay, I'll go talk to him.
Aria: I'm fine, really. I was just shaken up a bit.
«You»: Okay, I'll check back later. I won't be going far.

      «You»: ?!?!
Yulgar: Oops... *ugh* Sorry, «You», I'm a bit on edge.
Yulgar: Some fool is going around town and selling cheap weapons. It's cutting into my business.
«You»: Mhm. I heard about that.
Yulgar: His swords are cheaper than anything I can make! I can't compete with him!
«You»: Any idea who this individual is?
Yulgar: As far as I've heard, he's not from around here. I hope he shows up -- I'd love five minutes with him!
«You»: Okay, this person is definitely connected in some way to these attacks. I need to find him.

      «A scream from outside!»

«You find the merchant who has been selling the weapons.»

«You»: Finally! I believe you're the one I've been looking for.
Savvy Merchant: Looking to buy a weapon? Sorry, but the ghosts took them all.
Savvy Merchant: (And I hope they took that little blue devil away with them.)
«You»: Little blue devil? I should have known.
Savvy Merchant: He said he'd supply the weapons and I'd sell them for a cut. He never said they were cursed!
«You»: I have a feeling it's more than that. Do you have any idea where I can find him?
Savvy Merchant: I was to meet him in about 20 minutes to give him today's take.
«You»: If it's all the same to you, I think I'll keep that appointment for you.
Savvy Merchant: Be my guest. Just tell the little thief I still expect my cut!

«You» (Thought): Hmm old, rusted weapons. I seem to be on the right track.

«Further in the hut, you see a machine churning out "polished swords" from rusted swords.»

«You»: My keen sense of awareness tell me this is the right place. Now where's the little "blue devil".

      «Zorbak enters the scene.»

Zorbak: «You»! What're you doing here? I'm totally legit this time! You've got nothing on me!
«You»: Nothing but selling old, cursed weapons as new ones! I have to say thought, I am literally astounded what you can fit inside a two-room hut.
Zorbak: One, they're LIKE new, and two, what do you mean "cursed"?
«You»: It seems that whoever buys one of these weapons gets attacked by ghosts, who then steal them back.
«You»: Let me guess: you know nothing of this?
Zorbak: Of course not! I just found a cheap source of old, unwanted weapons. I clean 'em up and sell 'em. I know nothing of curses!
«You»: And where exactly is this "source"?
Zorbak: Well, err, I can't reveal my source! It's not good business.

«Several skeletal souls come floating into the scene!»

«You»: Looks like you have some other company. Maybe I'll just leave you to them to work things out.

«The scene fades to black. When it reappears again, production has stopped, the cauldron in charge of polishing the weapons spilled over, the machine not in operation anymore. All the weapons are gone.»

Zorbak: I've been robbed! Whadda ghosts need old rusted weapons for anyway?
«You»: ... Zorbak, PLEASE tell me you weren't robbing graves for old weapons to resell.
    • -.-;

Zorbak: "Robbing" is such an ugly word. I prefer to think of it as "recycling"!
«You»: For the love of-- I don't believe it! This is actually low even for you!
«You»: I'm thinking some time in a cell in the Guardian Tower might be the solution to this little adventure.
Zorbak: A cell! Whoawhoawhoa, now let's not be too hasty! No one was hurt, and all the weapons have been returned to their (previously living) owners.
«You»: Except for the people who bought your stolen loot. You better repay everyone, or else get used to the taste of Guardian-brand gruel!
Zorbak: "REPAY"?! I don't know the meaning of that word! It's just not good business!
«You»: Suit yourself. The other inmates lost their basketball last week... hey, you're about the size of one, aren't you?
      Zorbak: Meh! Fine!
«You»: And before I forget, your salesman still expects to be paid.
Zorbak: Mehhh. Yes, "mother", I'll play nice.

«The scene fades to black. Back at Aria's pet shop...»

Aria: You not serious? Grave robbing?
      «You»: I'm afraid so.
Aria: And the ghosts were just looking for the weapons stolen from their graves?
«You»: That's about the size of it.
Aria: I think this is the lowest Zorbak has ever sunk! What are you going to do with him?
«You»: I'm making him pay everyone back as well as his sales person. He stands to lose a lot of money!
Aria: There's probably no worse punishment for Zorbak.

Shadow Minion: Yes, Emperor. Your army stands ready to advance, and your ranks continue to grow as more shadow creatures are spawned.
Ultimon: Excellent. My attack will begin much sooner than they anticipated... which works to our advantage.
Ultimon: Tell the troops to prepare for battle. We will commence our attack under the cover of night.
Shadow Minion: But sir, it's always night around here.
      Ultimon: ...

«Ultimon leaps forward and obliterates his minion.»

      Ultimon: I hate jokesters.
Ultimon: Fine, I'll do it myself. Someone get in here and clean this mess up!

      «Scene: Battleon»

«You»: It's nice to finally have a peaceful day around here.

      «ElBhe enters the scene.»

«You»: ....I just had to say that out loud.
ElBhe: Normally I'd quip about how violent you adventurers are, but there's no time for jokes right now.
«You»: That's rare, coming from you. Must be serious.
      ElBhe: It's Ultimon.
«You»: He's prepared himself for war already? After all the damage Lord Barrius did, I figured he would be out of commission for a while.
ElBhe: No such luck, I'm afraid. He's been breeding his own army using the makeup of those "fake" shadows to enhance his army.
ElBhe: Which means they might actually be capable of survival outside of The Veil. This is very bad.
ElBhe: Fortunately, Lord Barrius has come up with a plan. We'll effectively split our forces into three units.
ElBhe: The strongest veteran adventurers will be our vanguard, leading a resistance force into Ultimon's territory to do battle with his army on its own turf.
ElBhe: Then we've arranged for a secondary force of a more substantial size to reinforce them from the rear, hopefully picking off most of the monsters that manage to get through the lines.
ElBhe: Since The Veil is too dangerous for rookie adventurers, they'll be kept outside The Veil and will serve as our last resort to try to keep these things from escaping into the wild.
«You»: Ah, I see. So the attacking force will be small and fast, able to do more damage that way.
«You»: And the majority of our troops can hold a defensive perimeter around the castle to keep them from getting away. Sounds like a good plan.
ElBhe: I hope so. It's hard to measure the severity of what will happen if these creatures are able to escape....
«You»: Makes sense. We'd better get ready. He'll probably begin his attack any moment now.

Ultimon: On the contrary, I expected a pre-emptive attack. But the device is incomplete. We need a little more time.
Nith: Shall I deploy the main force, then, Emperor?
Ultimon: No. Let us toy with them first. Let them think they have won. Send out two more divisions, but leave the rest in reserve.
Ultimon: Once the device is completed, we can stop playing with kid gloves and defeat them properly.
Nith: My Lord, if I may ask.... what is this device? Why is it so important that we are playing with stall tactics rather than crushing the adventurers outright?
Ultimon: We have enslaved many false shadows, dear soldier, but we have yet to grab the biggest one of them all.
Ultimon: Once we have it under my control, there will be far too many shadows for the adventurers to stop, too many to contain within The Veil.
Ultimon: Some will escape. And they can keep all of Lore busy while I lay the groundwork for my master plan.
Ultimon: Now, go an deploy the troops as ordered. We can't let the adventurers get complacent.

Guardian: What's that? Some kind of superweapon?

        «Exodus minions enter the scene.»

ElBhe: Never mind that.... seems we have company.
«You»: What is the Exodus doing here?
Lord Barrius: I think I know.... remember, Ultimon has been seeking to capture and corrupt any creature that has a similar format to shadow creatures.
Lord Barrius: The idea was to enhance his army of shadows so that they could survive outside of The Veil.
«You»: So he's seeking to corrupt the Exodus?
Lord Barrius: He must be. And since the Exodus has generally been scattered around Lore, hiding to help itself survive, he couldn't corrupt it properly unless he drew them all out....
Lord Barrius: Whatever that device is, it seems to be attracting the Exodus to this place?

«The Exodus minions dissolve into shadows and rise into the sky. The Exodus, a colossal being gathered from all its smaller shadow counterparts, stomps into the scene, shaking the earth beneath. From below, only its leg can be seen.»

«You»: No! If he corrupts a creature like the Exodus....

«The Exodus walks toward the light beam. At its foot stands Ultimon.»

Ultimon: You, false brother, are the best known lie in the universe. People look to you when they think of shadows... instead of us.
Ultimon: So what better creature to become a symbol of my power than you? Once I make you into a true shadow, you can spread my message across the cosmos!

«With a giant leap, Ultimon reaches the height of the Exodus' head and viciously strikes it, converting it into a true shadow being in the process.»

Shadow Minion: You've done it, my glorious Emperor!
Ultimon: Of course. Now, deploy the rest of the troops. While they face off against the bulk of the army, our brethren can slip through their lines and escape into Lore.
Ultimon: Our brothers and sisters shall escape this prison and cause chaos throughout Lore!

      Nith: Of course, my Emperor.

«Ultimon leaves the scene. You enter the scene along with Lord Barrius and ElBhe.»

«You»: Nith! What is Ultimon planning?
Nith: You think I will reveal my master's plans to you?
«You»: Fine, then, I'll beat my answers out of you.
1 BATTLE: Nith the Shadow Dragon
        Full Heal
      «Nith escapes from the scene.»

«You»: He's running away! Get back here!

«As you give chase, you encounter more of Ultimon's minions.»

        1 BATTLE: Corrupted Exodus Soldier

«You» (Thought): No sign of Nith.... but what is THAT?!

Lord Barrius: ...«You»! Back away from there, now!

Lord Barrius: Look out, «You»! That portal is trying to drag you into the shadow universe!
        1 BATTLE: Shadow Vortex
        Full Heal
«You»: That... thing was a portal to the shadow universe? They're not usually so... tendril-y, are they?
ElBhe: That one's a bit different because it goes to a different place.
Lord Barrius: The shadow universe has many layers. Ordinary gates, such as the ones the SeekRat used against us, lead to the top layer.
Lord Barrius: But portals like that lead to deeper, more dangerous layers.
«You»: But what would Ultimon need in the shadow universe? What is he after?
Lord Barrius: I can't be sure, but we don't have time to worry about it. Right now we should focus on cleaning up the mess he has already created.
Lord Barrius: The monsters he has corrupted will spread across Lore and may try to corrupt other forms of life on Lore.
Lord Barrius: Ultimon's corruption is especially potent. It even seems to transcend time and space. So it's impossible to know what else he might have done to these creatures.
«You»: Which means we'd better find and kill as many of them as we possibly can, before they have a chance to give us any nasty surprises.

«Exiting The Veil, a treasure chest is on the ground.»

Advanced Knight Class Training - Stormfallen Knights

      «Kingdom of Stormfallen»
      Tathlin: ....
Tathlin: What did you just say?
«You»: You heard me, Tathlin. Don't make me repeat myself.
Tathlin: This... is a joke, right? A very cruel, cruel joke...
«You»: No, Tathlin. I have made my decision. I will join Stormfallen and side with the demons.
Tathlin: When... when was it that you decided this?

«If you had chosen to keep the Eye of the Unholy out of Urgoth's hands previously...»

«You»: It wasn't an easy choice... but in the end, it is the right one for me.
«If you had chosen to keep the Eye of the Unholy for yourself previously...»

«You»: You wanted to use the Eye... but I know that it belongs around MY neck.
«You»: It was then that I made my decision.
«If you had chosen to give the Eye of the Unholy to Urgoth previously...»

«You»: When? What a silly question. From the start.
Tathlin: Do you not realize the trouble you've caused, «You»?
«You»: Stormfallen can offer power that you cannot. It's quite simple.
Tathlin: It is NOT simple! I told you all of the tales of Stormfallen's merciless slaughter of humans...
Tahlin: And you would join the demons in slaughtering your own species? No...
Tathlin: Surely that Demon Queen... she has... bewitched you somehow.
«You»: No, Tathlin. I chose this path of my own accord.
Tathlin: Then... I hope you are prepared to accept its consequences...
      Tathlin: You... you... you TRAITOR!
Tathlin: I would never allow one of my own trainees to join them... to join those monsters!
Tathlin: I will kill you, here and now.
«You»: I don't need to kill you, Tathlin. Only survive for a time. Help should be arriving soon.
Tathlin: You won't live long enough to be rescued by those murderous scum!
        1 BATTLE: Sir Tathlin
        Full Heal
      «Stormfallen's Demon Knights arrive.»

      «You»: You can't win, Tathlin.
Tathlin: Your vile allies won't save you! If I must, I'll kill all of you myself!
Tathlin: Yes... I have to kill you all...
Demon Lord Urgoth: Much as I hate to admit it, human, we shouldn't stay long. Reinforcements will come.
«You»: Then I shall leave for Stormfallen. Please keep Tathlin from following me.
      Tathlin: «You», please...
      «You»: Goodbye, Tathlin.
      Tathlin: ...

«The scene fades to black. As you head to Stormfallen though, Tathlin's fellow knights are hot on your tail!»
        8 BATTLE
        Full Heal after battles #2, #4, #6 and #8
«Scene: Near Stormfallen's Fortress. Tyranna enters the scene with a few of her guards.»

Tyranna: So this is the human who has abandoned the knights of Rennd to join my forces?

«If you had chosen to keep the Eye of the Unholy out of Urgoth's hands, or if you had chosen to keep the Eye of the Unholy for yourself previously...»

«You»: On one condition, of course. I get to keep the Eye.
Tyranna: ...are you daring to make demands of me, «You»?
Tyranna: I had no intention of taking it from you, foolish human. But such disrespect to your queen...
«You»: Of course... please forgive me, my Queen.
Tyranna: I think not. You need a lesson in manners and humility.
Demon Knight: My Queen! Please allow me the honor of disciplining this human!
        Tyranna: Very well.

        1 BATTLE: Demon Knight

Tyranna: ...interesting. You have more potential than I thought.
Tyranna: But if you dare show such disrespect again, human, I will kill you myself.
        «You»: Understood, my Queen.
«If you had chosen to give the Eye of the Unholy to Urgoth previously...»

Tyranna: I am pleased to meet the human who aided us in recovering the Eye of the Unholy.
Tyranna: If you continue to show such... initiative, you will have a great place in my army.
Tyranna: However, it seems Urgoth will not be returning. Tathlin proved too much for him.
Tyranna: My knights were able to recover the Eye. Since you found it first, it seems fitting to let you keep it.
Tyranna: Now then, let us resume your training where the pathetic humans left off.
«You»: Of course. I am at your command... my Queen.
Congratulations! You are now a Level 6 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

      Knight Level 6

      «Scene: Stormfallen Fields»

Tyranna: Welcome, «You»! Prove to me that you deserve the power that comes with being a Demon Knight!

«A new option - Join Another Order! - is unlocked for you, and can be accessed from the Knight Class menu from this point on. You will now train as not just any ordinary Knight, but a Demon Knight. The Demon Knight Class shop is open as well, containing the Demon Knight Armour, and Tyranna says "May this equipment make you stronger in my service" as you leave the shop.»

Tyranna: I am pleased that you have seen reason and joined with my forces.
Tyranna: But other humans have done so, before... and they were too weak. Broken by my training.
Tyranna: Let us see if you will be different. Can you master the Salamander Cavalry, or will you be salamander chow?
    • I'm ready!
    • I need more time to think about this.

Tyranna: Excellent! You'll want to go get fitted for your new armor, and trade in your training gear.

«You equip the Demon Knight Armour and meet Tyranna on the practice fields.»

«You»: You wished to see me, my Queen?
Tyranna: Indeed... I am aware that you have been trained by the human knight Tathlin.
Tyranna: Be prepared to relearn much of it. We use some similar techniques to them, but we do not deny magic as he does.
Tyranna: We embrace the demonic power we have been gifted with. And we have made it a part of how we fight.
Tyranna: And our training reflects this nature. It is intended for demons who can withstand pain and suffering, not humans.
«You»: I am not as weak as some of the others you may have met, my Queen.
Tyranna: Perhaps not, but we will see. In any case, your first goal will be to learn the ways of cavalry.
Tyranna: Rennd's knights are fierce on horseback, but our salamanders are much more dangerous.
Tyranna: This is because our knights are sent out into the fiery lands to find their own mount and force it to submit to their will.
Tyranna: We call it Salamander Hunt. Only a handful of humans have been able to accomplish this task.
Tyranna: Go now, and find yourself a mount. If you are able to return, perhaps you may yet earn your place in my army.
      «You»: Yes, my Queen!
        6 BATTLES
Full Heal after battle #2, #4 and #6
«You find a salamander in the fiery fields of Stormfallen.»

      «You»: Aha, here's my prize.
      Salamander: GRRRRRRR!
«You»: Not going to come along willingly? Not surprising. Then I'll have to FORCE you to do as I say!
        1 BATTLE: Mighty Salamander
        Full Heal
      Salamander Rider
Have you "convinced" the salamander to obey your will?
      Difficulty: 41
      Stat Used: Charisma

      «If you fail the roll:»
«If you succeed the roll, you obtain the Salamander Cavalry skill temporarily.»
«You»: A wise decision, beast. Now to take my prize back to my Queen.

        «Scene: Stormfallen's Practice Fields»

Tyranna: I see you are still alive. For a human to survive the Salamander Hunt is a rare feat.

«A Demon Knight riding on a Salamander enters the scene.»

Tyranna: But will you be able to match the skill of our riders?
          1 BATTLE: Mounted Demon Knight
          Full Heal
Tyranna: Impressive... for a human. I suppose you may take a break for now.

Congratulations! You are now a Level 7 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

        Knight Level 7

Tyranna: Not too bad for a human. Perhaps not all of you are useless.
Tyranna: But you will need to demonstrate much more skill before I will consider you for any leadership role in my army.
Tyranna: Let us see if you can master our recovery techniques. Can you learn the Soul Drinker?
      • I'm ready!
      • I need more time to think about this.

Tyranna: Excellent! I hope you remembered to bring your Demon Knight armor. You won't be allowed to train in anything else.

«You equip the Demon Knight Armour and meet Tyranna in the practice fields.»

Tyranna: It seems your departure has enraged your former mentor.
«You»: Oh? What has he done?
Tyranna: Tathlin is gathering his forces as we speak. He no doubt intends to start an offensive to come after you.
Tyranna: You are one of a very few of his pupils whom he has trusted so deeply, so your betrayal must have stung him.
Tyranna: Perhaps now he knows what it feels like...
        «You»: Pardon, my Queen?
Tyranna: Never mind. If indeed he comes after you, you will need to be ready and able to stand against many knights.
Tyranna: This is an appropriate time to learn the Soul Drinker technique.
Tyranna: We use our innate magical talents to draw from the spirits of others, leeching health from them to sustain ourselves.
Tyranna: This method is perhaps not as effective as the healing methods of other knights, but it offers an offensive advantage that they can't match.
Tyranna: I'll have you face off against some of our prisoners from previous offensives. They make for good practice against the real thing.
          2 BATTLES
        Soul Drinker
Have you practiced enough to impress Queen Tyranna?
        Difficulty: 61
        Stat Used: Strength

«If you fail the roll, you receive a Full Heal and the following dialogue.»
Tyranna: Bah, they were weak. You'll have to kill more than that to convince me you're ready.

«Repeat 2 BATTLES above, with -5 Difficulty per time you fail the roll.»
«If you succeed the roll, you temporarily obtain the Soul Drinker skill.»
Tyranna: Good enough, I suppose. Let's see how you do with this final test.

«A Tank Knight enters the scene.»

Tyranna: This prisoner is particularly stubborn and doesn't go down easily. He has bested some of my weaker kin through sheer endurance.
Tyranna: Naturally, this has convinced the prisoners that they are not entirely beaten. We must remove that hope from them.
Tyranna: If you can last twenty turns or defeat him, you will incite renewed fear in the hearts of the other prisoners!

«You receive a Full Heal and proceed with the battle.»
          1 BATTLE: Tank Knight Lord
          Full Heal
Tyranna: Impressive... for a human. I suppose you may take a break for now.

Congratulations! You are now a Level 8 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

        Knight Level 8

Tyranna: It seems I was correct. Tathlin is leading a charge of knights to attack Stormfallen.
Tyranna: We shall use this to our advantage, and teach you a new skill in the process: the Fiery Arrow Barrage!
Tyranna: This is your chance to prove your loyalty to me, and to earn yourself a strong role in my army. Are you prepared?
      • I'm ready!
      • I need more time to think about this.

Tyranna: Excellent! I hope you remembered to bring your Demon Knight armor. You won't be allowed to train in anything else.

«You equip the Demon Knight Armour and spot Tathlin's knights running around in search for you. Click on each of his knights to shoot them down, your target number being 10.»
«If you take too long to shoot 10 knights...»
Tyranna: Keep going, there are still more of them!
«Once you manage to shoot 10 knights within the time limit...»

        Fiery Arrow Barrage!
Have you slain enough knights to impress Tyranna?
        Difficulty: 101
        Stat Used: Strength
          «If you fail the roll»
Tyranna: Keep going, there are still more of them!

«Repeat the mini game above, and return to the stat roll with -5 to difficulty per time of failure.»
«If you succeed the roll, you temporarily obtain the skill Fiery Barrage.»

Tyranna: That's the last of them!

«Tathlin pounces into the screen and attempts to strike Tyranna in an ambush. The attack is quickly deflected.»

        Tathlin: «You»!
Tyranna: Ah, the "hero" of Rennd has graced us with his presence. Unfortunately, it seems your army is quite decimated.
Tyranna: I will give you an opportunity to flee for your life.
Tathlin: Flee from you, Demon Queen? NEVER. «You», now is your chance to redeem yourself.
        Tathlin: Help me defeat her!
«You»: You dare to raise arms against my Queen?
Tathlin: «You», please... surely her vile magic cannot still hold your mind in its vicegrip.
Tyranna: How insulting. If anyone can be accused of slander and brainwashing, it is your overzealous legions!
Tyranna: «You»! Now is the time to show me your loyalty. If you can defeat Tathlin, I will grant you status as a Demon Lord.
Tathlin: I refuse to believe that my loyal friend was so easily swayed by promises of power!

        Who will you battle?
      • Tathlin
Tathlin: I will free you from her control, even if I must beat it out of you!

          1 BATTLE: Sir Tathlin
          Full Heal

Tyranna: Tathlin and the shredded remnants of his army flee! You have proven your worth today.
Tyranna: Take a break for now. You will need it for the trial to come.

Congratulations! You are now a Level 9 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!
      • Tyranna
Tyranna: Fool! You dare take up arms against your Queen!

          1 BATTLE: Tyranna
          Full Heal

Tyranna: It seems that I overestimated you. It seems that you humans are just too attached to your emotions to think clearly.
Tyranna: Go! Crawl back to Rennd with the rest of your kind, and wait at your king's throne like a good little lapdog for me to come and burn your kingdom to the ground.

«You are banished from Stormfallen and return to Battleon. You are stripped of all your Demon Knight levels, and automatically join the ranks of the Pria Knights of Rennd for your betrayal towards Tyranna.»

        Knight Level 9

Tyranna: Congratulations are in order, my newest Demon Lord. But Tathlin will be back for you.
Tyranna: To prepare you for the inevitable conflict, you must complete the final trial that all Demon Lords must perform.
Tyranna: You will venture into the dungeons deep beneath Stormfallen to meet the Flame of Truth, and to train with the Demon Lords of old!
      • I'm ready!
      • I need more time to think about this.

Tyranna: Excellent! You'll want to go get fitted for your new armor, and trade in your training gear.

«You equip the Demon Knight Armour and meet Tyranna in the dungeon beneath Stormfallen.»

Tyranna: The Flame of Truth has proven a very useful asset in our arsenal. It serves as an unbiased record keeper.
Tyranna: And it alone knows the location of the Ancient Demon Lords, which I have sealed outside of time and space to serve as eternal trainers for my Demon Lords.
Tyranna: However, it will see fit to test you before you can train with the Ancient Demon Lords. If you cannot stand up to the flames of truth, your body will be unable to carry the demonic flame.
«You»: I am ready, my Queen.
Tyranna: Then I shall leave you to it...

«Tyranna leaves the scene. From the ground rises an orange flame that swiftly turns purple with a red core.»

Flame of Truth: A human? It has been a long time since a human has stood in these halls.
Flame of Truth: You no doubt seek to be tested so that you may inherit the powers of the Demon Lords.
Flame of Truth: This rite is normally designed for demons, however. Human bodies do not tend to survive well against such flames...
        «You»: I can handle it.
Flame of Truth: Others have said so before. You will also need to face some uncomfortable truths about your kind.
«You»: I have abandoned them for your side, so I do not care what you reveal.
Flame of Truth: Yet you already are in error. I have no side. I do not serve the Demon Queen. I only reveal the truth...
Flame of Truth: ...and allow those who witness it to decide for themselves what to do with this knowledge.
Flame of Truth: I exist only to record history, for better or worse, for all of time. It is a terrible and tragic truth, but it is one that must be told.
«You»: Then tell me. I am ready.
Flame of Truth: We shall see.

«A red hemisphere engulfs you as red beams emit around where you stand, and visions start appearing in front of you...»

The demons of Stormfallen first emerged in Lore hundreds of years ago. They were cast out from Heck by their own kind, rejected for their belief in the ability for humans and demons to co-exist.

Tyranna herself was considered proof of this, for she was born of demon and human alike, co-existing perfectly well. This truth did not sit well with the demons of Heck, thus why they were banished under charge of heresy.

When Tyranna arrived on Lore, she was first discovered by the knights of Rennd. She attempted to open up diplomacy with them, seeking to prove to her kin that humans could be trusted.

«If you succeed the roll, continue below.»

And so she met with the knights in a grand council, telling them her tale and asking for their aid in establishing a home for her kind. But... the humans would have none of it.

The Paladin Order believed her to be the leader of an invasion force from Heck, and considered her very existence to be the result of pure sin. Her appeal was rejected... nay, never given a chance.

Her kind was hunted like vermin, driven to the far west... driven into hiding. And as they hid, Tyranna's demonic nature began to influence her more and more.

Tyranna grew to hate humanity for rejecting her offers of friendship, and began to understand why demons did not trust humans. And on that day, she vowed justice.

She forged Stormfallen and led a demonic onslaught, conquering most of the West and decimating it, turning forests to ashes and many kingdoms to rubble.

Of the great powers in the Western Expanse, only Rennd remains. The rest are minor kingdoms of little interest, or have become protectorates under her rule.

That is why the humans rarely venture to the West these days... they know what lies in wait: the demons of Stormfallen!

Flame of Truth: Survived, did you?
        «You»: No problem.
Flame of Truth: Good. The flames of truth have not burnt you to a crisp. Your body may indeed be capable of surviving the demonic flames.
Flame of Truth: Very well then. You are ready to visit the Ancient Demon Lords and fight to obtain their power.

«Another red hemisphere surrounds you. This time, you are transported to another dimension to confront an Ancient Demon Lord.»

Ancient Demon Lord: I see that another has been sent. And a human, no less... surely my Queen has not grown desperate enough to count on human aid?
        «You»: Where am I?
Ancient Demon Lord: We, the oldest of Demon Lords, wield the power of ancient demons and can imbue that power inside of others.
Ancient Demon Lord: However, our kind are the only ones capable of passing this great power on, and we were growing old and dying off.
Ancient Demon Lord: So my Queen sealed me off in a dimension outside of time and space, that I might never grow old and die.
Ancient Demon Lord: This allows me to grant the power of demonic flame to all of her future Demon Lords, for all of time.
«You»: Doesn't it bother you that you're sealed away like this?
Ancient Demon Lord: Hardly. It is an honor to serve my Queen in any way I can. And it grants me total immunity from death.
Ancient Demon Lord: I must ask you... how does my Queen fare? Has her kingdom grown? Are the humans paying for their crimes?
«You»: The Queen's domain stretches across the West. The humans have united against her, but they are fighting a losing war.
Ancient Demon Lord: That is good to hear... and once I have trained you to wield the demonic flame, you can aid her.
Ancient Demon Lord: Before we start, however... will you truly serve my Queen forever, even against your own kind?
«You»: I will serve her in life until I draw my last breath, and even then I will serve her in death.
Ancient Demon Lord: Then face me in battle, young warrior. If you can survive against my power, then perhaps your body can absorb the demonic flame and wield it as your own!
          1 BATTLE: Ancient Demon Lord
        Demonic Flame
Have you gained the power of the demonic flame for your own?
        Difficulty: 93
        Stat Used: Strength

«If you fail the roll, you receive a Full Heal and the following dialogue.»
Ancient Demon Lord: You have not embraced the demonic flame. Do you submit, then?
«You»: I can't submit! To submit is to fail my Queen!
Ancient Demon Lord: Then come at me again, if you dare!

«Repeat battle above, and stat roll with -5 difficulty per time of failure.»

«If you succeed the roll, you temporarily acquire the Rite of Flames skill.»
«You»: By fire I am purged! I feel the flames boiling in my very body!
Ancient Demon Lord: Now return to your time, and safe-guard our Queen with your very life.

«You receive a Full Heal. As you return back to the dungeon, the Flame of Truth extinguishes itself and Tyranna re-enters the scene.»

Tyranna: I see you still live. That means you have been exposed to the truth, then....
Tyranna: Knowing these things, would you still serve me?
«You»: Without question, my Queen. What we did to you is horrible. They should be made to suffer.
«You»: But I urge you, my Queen. Do not give up on humanity entirely. Not all of us are so heartless.
Tyranna: Perhaps, when this is all over, I can learn to embrace my human aspects once more... but...
Tyranna: Until that day, my humanity is but an anchor, weighing me down from exacting revenge on those who attempted to murder me and my kin.
Tyranna: When that is done, I expect that you will be at my side to help encourage the co-existence of our kind and yours.
        «You»: Of course, my Queen.
Tyranna: Good. Now then... we must ensure that you are ready for the battles to come. Demonstrate your new power to me!
          1 BATTLE: Tyranna
          Full Heal
Tyranna: You are ready. When Tathlin next seeks to face you in battle, you will be able to crush him.

Congratulations! You are now a Level 10 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

        Knight Level 10

Tyranna: I count you among my strongest knights. I have no more to teach you at this time.

Here are the changes to the dialogue in the level 6 Stormfallen quest if you chose to keep the Eye instead of giving it to Urgoth:

        quote:

«You»: When? What a silly question. From the start.

        is replaced with

        quote:

«You»: You wanted to use the Eye... but I know that it belongs around MY neck.
«You»: It was then that I made my decision.

        and

        quote:

Tyranna: I am pleased to meet the human who aided us in recovering the Eye of the Unholy.
Tyranna: If you continue to show such... initiative, you will have a great place in my army.
Tyranna: However, it seems Urgoth will not be returning. Tathlin proved too much for him.
Tyranna: My knights were able to recover the Eye. Since you found it first, it seems fitting to let you keep it.
Tyranna: Now then, let us resume your training where the pathetic humans left off.
«You»: Of course. I am at your command... my Queen.

        is replaced with

        quote:

«You»: On one condition, of course. I get to keep the eye.
Tyranna: ...are you daring to make demands of me, «You»?
Tyranna: I had no intention of taking it from you, foolish human. But such disrespect to your queen...
«You»: Of course... please forgive me, my queen.
Tyranna: I think not. You need a lesson in manners and humility.
Demon Knight: My Queen! Please allow me the honor of disciplining the human!
        Tyranna: Very well.

        1 BATTLE
        Demon Knight

Tyranna: ...interesting. You have more potential than I thought.
Tyranna: But if you dare show such disrespect again, human, I will kill you myself.
        «You»: Understood, my Queen.
        Got this. Thanks! ~whacky

@Rhowena: If you choose to answer "I intend to keep it out of your hands" when confronted by Urgoth you get neither of those branches of dialogue. What you get instead is this:

You: It wasn't an easy choice...but in the end, it is the right one for me.

As for the second branch, if you answered with "I intend to keep it out of your hands", you get the same dialogue you would get if you answered that you intend to keep the Eye for yourself.
Got this as well. Thanks! ~whacky

        Knight Level 10

Tathlin: I am proud to say that you are a fully-trained Pria Knight, my friend. I have no more skills to teach you, and I am proud to stand by your side against the demons of the West.
Tathlin: Tyranna has sent a messenger claiming that she wants to end the war! And she has requested some sort of tournament...
Tathlin: I don't know if she can be trusted, but we may as well try. It's a chance for us to smite the demon legions in the name of justice!
Tathlin: Surely I don't have to tell you who I think is best for the job. Make Rennd proud, friend.
      • I'm honored.
      • I need more time to prepare.

Tathlin: Thank you, my friend! I will be at your side when the fiends reveal whatever treachery they have planned.
      • Let's go!

You must compete against champions from each of the rival kingdoms! If you can beat them at their best, your kingdom will earn the right to dictate the terms for the end of the war! Don't forget to use your class armor! You must wear your kingdom's colors in battle!

«Regardless of choice, the dialogue you receive is the same. The differences are only in the battles, as listed below.»
          1 BATTLE
          Normal: Cerin (70)
          Hard: Cerin (90)

          Full Heal
Cerin: I hope that you are fighting for honorable reasons, young Knight, for you can be certain that your kingdom is not.

        «Cerin leaves the scene.»

«You»: (thinking) What did he mean by that?
          1 BATTLE
          Normal: General Herous (70)
          Hard: General Herous (90)

          Full Heal
General Herous: Impressive! A shame that you didn't choose to join our ranks. We could have used a warrior of your skill.
«You»: I am proud of my choice. And I look forward to our victory in this war.
General Herous: Ha! The war shall never end, even if you do win. The peace can only be kept for so long....

        «Herous leaves the scene.»

        «You»: (thinking) We shall see.
          1 BATTLE
          Normal: Demon Lord Eir (70)
          Hard: Demon Lord Eir (90)

          Full Heal
Demon Lord Eir: A meaningless victory, foolish human. The war will continue for so long as I command the Crimson Legion!
Demon Lord Eir: And next time that we meet in battle shall be your last!

        «Eir leaves the scene.»

«You»: (thinking) I sincerely doubt that.

«Tathlin, Cerin, Herous, Tyranna and Eir gather in the arena.»

Tyranna: Congratulations, «You». You have won the tournament.
Tyranna: Your kingdom may choose the terms of the war's conclusion.
«You»: Truthfully, I and my army have grown weary of war. But you demons have much to answer for.
«You»: Especially you, Tyranna! Therefore, we demand that all of your demons submit themselves to justice by our knights!
Demon Lord Eir: What ridiculous terms! You think you can just exterminate us, do you?
        Tyranna: Silence!
        Demon Lord Eir: ....my Queen?
Tyranna: All members of the Crimson Legion will submit themselves for extermination, or I shall kill you myself.
Demon Lord Eir: But... my Queen! I have been loyal to you....
Tyranna: Do you think I was not aware of your experimentation with corruption magic? Or your refusal to grant safe harbor for civilians?
Tyranna: Submit yourself and your troops to Rennd's judgment.
Demon Lord Eir: I... I will not obey those orders! You are a weak queen, taking orders from a human! I shall....

«Tyranna swiftly spins around and stabs Eir with her bare hands, immediately killing him in the process.»

Tyranna: You shall do nothing, worm.
Tyranna: As you asked, the Crimson Legion is yours to kill. They are all traitors anyways. However....
Tyranna: You may not kill any of my other troops. They are guilty of no crime and you are hardly virtuous enough to pass judgment on them.
Tathlin: You dare dishonor our agreement, demon?
Tyranna: You dare speak of honor, after the crimes you and the General here have committed? Cerin, what do you have to say about this?
Cerin: In the name of King Tralin of Deren, I hereby arrest you, Sir Tathlin of Rennd and General Herous of Granemor.
«You»: WHAT?!? I thought Deren's knights were our allies!
General Herous: Arresting us? On what charges?
Cerin: Your armies have been falsely perpetuating the war against Stormfallen. We have examined historical records and found that they have been falsified.
        Tathlin: What a slanderous lie!
Cerin: Ah, but it is not. My king is certain enough of it that he is pulling his support from the war, effective immediately.
Cerin: Any further attacks against Stormfallen will be treated as an act of war against Deren, with the appropriate reaction.
Tathlin: ....treacherous dogs! As you wish, then. We shall withdraw and rebuild our forces....
Tathlin: But mark my words. Once we have rebuilt, we will come back stronger than ever.
Tathlin: And you will pay for your betrayal!

It seems that the endless war in the Western Expanse has ceased for now... but it is a very uneasy peace. Even now, the four kingdoms are rebuilding, gathering their strength for when the war begins anew. And when it does, all of Lore might be engulfed in the chaos that follows! Knowing this, you depart for other adventures... but you must remain ever-vigilant, for no one knows when the peace shall be broken....

Tathlin: We will never give up! We will take some time to prepare, but we shall return stronger than ever!
General Herous: And my 'Emoran Knights will join in the battle!
Cerin: I expected as much, sadly. Very well. Know that Deren will be prepared to come to Stormfallen's aid when you two foolishly choose to step out of line.

        Knight Level 10

Tyranna: I count you among my strongest knights. I have no more to teach you at this time. However, I have another task which I command you to perform.
Tyranna: I have sent a message to the other kingdoms asking to host a tournament, with the best knight each kingdom can offer.
Tyranna: The winner may decide the terms to end the war. Of course, Tathlin has entered in the hopes of facing you.
Tyranna: We shouldn't keep him, or the other contestants waiting. Kill them all, and we can force unconditional surrender in this war!
      • Yes, my Queen.
      • I ask only for more time to prepare myself.

Tyranna: Good. You have my full support, Knight, as well as some you may not expect. Fight with all of your skill and end this war with victory to Stormfallen!
      • To victory!

You must compete against champions from each of the rival kingdoms! If you can beat them at their best, your kingdom will earn the right to dictate the terms for the end of the war! Don't forget to use your class armor! You must wear your kingdom's colors in battle!

      • HARD MODE

«Regardless of choice, the dialogue you receive is the same. The differences are only in the battles, as listed below.»
          1 BATTLE
          Normal: Cerin (70)
          Hard: Cerin (90)

          Full Heal
Cerin: You fought well, young Knight. I hope that you are victorious in this conflict. Your queen deserves retribution.
«You»: What do you know of retribution, knight of Deren?
Cerin: More than you may think, young Knight.

        «Cerin leaves the scene.»

«You»: (thinking) What a strange conversation... no time to worry about it now, though. On to the next fighter!
          1 BATTLE
          Normal: General Herous (70)
          Hard: General Herous (90)

          Full Heal
General Herous: Impressive! A shame that you didn't choose to join our ranks. We could have used a warrior of your skill.
«You»: I am proud of my choice. And I look forward to our victory in this war.
General Herous: Ha! The war shall never end, even if you do win. The peace can only be kept for so long....

        «Herous leaves the scene.»

        «You»: (thinking) We shall see.
          1 BATTLE:
          Normal: Sir Tathlin (70)
          Hard: Sir Tathlin (90)

          Full Heal
        Tathlin: «You»... why?
Tathlin: I gave you all of my knowledge, I treated you like a brother. Why would you betray me and my trust?
«You»: Tathlin, someone like you cannot understand, and it's likely that you will never understand.
Tathlin: That much we can agree on. Justice will come to you one day, and when it does, I only hope that I can be there to see it.

        «Tathlin leaves the scene.»

«You»: (thinking) *sigh* Tathlin.... if only you knew what you predecessors have done, perhaps then you might understand.

«Tathlin, Cerin, Herous, Tyranna and Eir gather in the arena.»

Tyranna: Congratulations, «You». You have won the tournament.
Tyranna: Your kingdom may choose the terms of the war's conclusion.
«You»: The war shall end now. The human kingdoms shall surrender unconditionally to the demons.
«You»: And in exchange, our armies shall refrain from decimating the rest of Lore.
Demon Lord Eir: What a load of nonsense! I knew we couldn't trust a human to make the right decision....
        Tyranna: Silence!
        Demon Lord Eir: ....my Queen?
Tyranna: His request is my own. Stormfallen is ending the war, and I am disbanding your Crimson Legion, effective immediately.
Demon Lord Eir: But... my Queen! I have been loyal to you....
Tyranna: Do you think I was not aware of your experimentation with corruption magic? Or your refusal to grant safe harbor for civilians?
Tyranna: You are hereby stripped of your title, and your legion is disbanded.
Demon Lord Eir: I... I will not obey those orders! You are a weak queen, taking orders from a human! I shall....

«Tyranna swiftly spins around and stabs Eir with her bare hands, immediately killing him in the process.»

Tyranna: You shall do nothing, worm.
General Herous: There is no way that we're going to surrender unconditionally to you while you are at your weakest!
Tathlin: Indeed! I have not yet achieved justice for my kingdom!
Tyranna: Not willing to hold to our agreement, then? Cerin, what do you have to say about this?
Cerin: In the name of King Tralin of Deren, I hereby arrest you, Sir Tathlin of Rennd and General Herous of Granemor.
«You»: ....now this is a surprise. Deren is betraying its allies?
General Herous: Arresting us? On what charges?
Cerin: Your armies have been falsely perpetuating the war against Stormfallen. We have examined historical records and found that they have been falsified.
        Tathlin: What a slanderous lie!
Cerin: Ah, but it is not. My king is certain enough of it that he is pulling his support from the war, effective immediately.

General Herous: And my 'Emoran Knights will join in the battle!
Tyranna: Do not be so bold, humans. I have many other legions besides the Crimson Legion.
Tyranna: When you do choose to restart the war, you will be made to regret it a thousand times over!

It seems that the endless war in the Western Expanse has ceased for now... but it is a very uneasy peace. Uhhhh, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this or knows of this, but Thunder Mountain needs to be updated or something because I just completed the quest not five minutes ago and he did not challenge me.
The dialogue for this has not been recorded or anything.

I know that he IS supposed to challenge you since I played the quest when it first came out (and Krenos handed me my ripe carcass on a platter) but he didn't this time and only appeared to challenge Svadilfari after my character left saying something like if he was to leave his prey alive there'd be more rended flesh, blood and broken bones

        Svadilfari: *gulp*

        Really?
No one has bothered to make a mention of this. I wanted to challenge Krenos again because I felt ready to face him once more. The challenge excited me.
You may perhaps want to instead provide the actual dialogue that has been updated/changed/added for Thunder Mountain, or for any quest in future should you come across it ever again, so that I could instead just directly add whatever was updated instead of running the quest myself and having a look at it based on the information you just provided.

I'll be taking a look into this. The dialogue is now added. ~whacky

^The quest was bugged at initial release. Everyone can fight Krenos at that time, even players under 149 and adventurers. (I beat him by the way) It was fixed about a week later to be the same as other MC quests, ie. you need to be level 150 guardian to fight the final boss.
I'll add the dialogue related to this ASAP.

        Dragons Gone Wild!
        Dragon War of Steel

«You can skip this cutscene at anytime.»

«Scene: Outskirts of Battleon. Two Guardians confront a being off-screen. The shadow cast on the ground looks familiar...»

Guardian: Why are you doing this?
???: My kind have been hunted for so long, exterminated like rodents, and yet you still wonder why I am here?
???: I am here to restore things to the way they should be.

«The shadow of the being is revealed to be the Fear Drake!»

Fear Drake: I will restore dragons to their rightful place as the masters of all races. And Battleon will be burned to the ground!
Fear Drake: Now then, kneel before me, and I will spare you.

«One of the Guardian raises his weapon.»

Guardian: Ha! You think we're going to submit to you?

«The Fear Drake raises his head, readying an attack.»

Fear Drake: Perhaps I wasn't loud enough. I said...

«The Fear Drake unleashes a blast of fire direct at the Guardians. One collapses from the fire, while the other falls to his knees.»

        Fear Drake: KNEEEEEEEL!
Fear Drake: There, that wasn't so hard, was it?
Fear Drake: That takes care of the guards. Now then, Titanus?

«A metallic being enters the scene. Only its head can be seen.»

Fear Drake: Remember, Titanus, you must keep the adventurers of Battleon busy for as long as possible. I shall return to Mount Fear to prepare the ritual.
Titanus: Yes, my liege. I shall not fail you.

«Scene: Inside Battleon. A Fire Dragon flies past you.»

        «You»: Another dragon invasion, eh?

«Titanus, the Steel Dragon, enters the scene.»

Titanus: My master, the Fear Drake, thought you'd be rather comfortable fighting dragons again after so long.
«You»: The Fear Drake is back, then?
Titanus: Indeed. And I wouldn't get your hopes up. My master will defeat you this time!

Fear Drake: And unfortunately for you, I have already completed the ritual.

Fear Drake: And the spilling of my blood here has completed that ritual.
        Fear Drake:
Fear Drake: There will come a day in the future where you will be personally responsible for destroying the last of your draconic allies.
Fear Drake: And when that day comes, I will rise again to bring the entire dragon race back to the top of Lore's food chain!

«The Fear Drake collapses. Returning to the outskirts of Battleon, you meet up with Galanoth, with a treasure chest laying beside him.»

Galanoth: Excellent work hero, you have saved Battleon once more! I have an uneasy feeling about the events surrounding the Fear Drake.

In the Fujin quest, I fixed the typoes which said that you need to be Lv75/90 to get the last items, when it should be Lv85/105. I've already fixed the entry to reflect this.

Also, if you fail the stat rolls, then you can now resist them. I'm not sure if this needs mentioning.
Thanks for helping fix the entry! :D As for the resist portion, no additional details will be added since the entry already contains both the fail/pass scenarios. ~whacky

        Children of the Measurer!
        Mogloween 2013

«Scene: Battleon Inn. A child sits on the steps to the next floor, holding a ruler.»

Yulgar: It's that time again. I wonder what weirdness'll haunt Battleon this year.
Robina: I haven't seen Zorbak lurking around, so perhaps it will be a calm Mogloween? Maybe we will be fortunate and folks will be able to enjoy the evening and just hunt for treats?
Yulgar: Hmmm, so the children'll get to hunt for treats this time, while «You» keeps an eye out for the stray monster?
Robina: Precisely. Though, speaking of children, they've been quiet. Has Eukara Vox been testing them for the past few days?
Yulgar: I... don't rightly know, but you're right. They've been quiet ever since that field trip to the farms.
Robina: She didn't take them to Seahawk's Farm, did she?
Yulgar: As weird as that place is, surely just a visit wouldn't do anything permanent to the kids? I mean, considering what she encourages in that school of hers...

        «Silence fills the room.»

        Yulgar: Right?

«The scene fades to black and switches to Aria's Pet Shop. Aria is speaking to Hans, while two children can be seen in the background, unfazed by Aria's dog constantly growling at them.»

Aria: I don't know, Hans. The animals won't have anything to do with them.
Hans: I'll admit, her students have been acting weird, but they usually are.
Aria: Hans! I am being serious!
Hans: Okay, okay. Yes, something is wrong. The way they walk around, looking at all of us... I just don't know what is wrong with them.

«The scene fades to black and switches to Warlic's magic shop. Warlic is in deep thought.»

Warlic: (thinking) Something foul stirs the air...

        «Two children enter the scene.»

Cassie: He Who Measures requires your sacrifice.

«Timmy raises a ruler, with crayons tied around it, making it look like a voodoo doll.»

Timmy: Your power will be given to He Who Measures.
Warlic: Where is your teacher, Ms. Vox?

«Cassie takes out a voodoo doll similar to that of Timmy's.»

Cassie: He Who Measures will have her power, too.
Timmy: He Who Measures waits for you.
Warlic: This is very wrong. I need to find Ms. Vox. You two... aren't going anywhere.

«Warlic raises his crystal ball. In an instant, the two children are surrounded by a translucent sphere, and Warlic vanishes. The scene focuses on the now trapped students, flashing a demented smile while holding their rulers...»

Cassie: He Who Measures will have all things.

«The scene fades to black. Warlic arrives at the Battleon school, and the classroom he enters is dimly lit. Tables have been flipped and lay on the floor, and many ruler voodoo dolls are pasted all around the classroom.»

        Warlic: Ms. Vox?

        «Silence.»

Warlic: What... what did you do this time?

«Back in the outskirts of Battleon...»

«You»: (thinking) There is something weird going on... I just can't put my finger on it. It's quiet. It's the eve of Mogloween. Though I have seen nothing out of the ordinary, something in the air feels malevolent.

        «Lady Tomo enters the scene.»

Lady Tomo: Very apt word for this day, «You».
«You»: My Lady! What brings you here and away from your home?

        «Warlic enters the scene.»

Warlic: I requested her presence. We need her expertise, I fear.
«You»: We do? You're the resident magic expert, but Lady Tomo's the expert on... Uh oh.
Lady Tomo: Warlic and I have been looking into the town and the surrounding areas. There are many in danger if what I suspect is true.
Warlic: Ms. Vox's children are not themselves. Something happened to them the last time they left town on a field trip.
«You»: I keep telling her to conduct class more traditionally, but nooooooo...
Lady Tomo: What she does is fine, what is attracted to her methodology is not.
        Warlic: Or her magic... *grumbles*
«You»: Then let's get back to town and start unraveling this mystery.

        «AAIEEEEE! A scream emits from within town!»

Lady Tomo: Sooner, better than later.

«Returning to town, you spot children tugging a huge creature, with the Battleon residents bounded to it by rope!»

«You»: Hey! Kids! Stop what you are doing.

«Cassie and Timmy turn to face you.»

Cassie: Warlic is back. He must come with us. Bring him.

«Timmy takes out his voodoo doll again.»

Timmy: Yes, He Who Measures will need his sacrifice.
Warlic: What? I left you two in my shop, surrounded by a barrier.

«Cassie takes her voodoo doll out too.»

Cassie: You thought you were more powerful than He Who Measures?
Timmy: He Who Measures cares for us. He released us from your imprisonment.
        «You»: Speaking of imprisonment...
Cassie: Now, faithful ones, seize Warlic. He must be brought to the meeting place.

«A few children surround Warlic and Lady Tomo while the rest tugs the creature away.»

«You»: We... have to fight them? But they are just children!
Lady Tomo: They may be children, but what fuels them and holds them captive is not. Warlic? Surely you can create something to help «You»?
        Warlic: Um... sure...

        «An instrument appears on Warlic's hand.»

Warlic: Just use this. It will not hurt them, just distract them so we can get away. Their weakness... as her students...
      • Take gun!

«You are equipped with the Homework Cannon and cannot switch weapons for the following battles.»
          1 BATTLE: Jimmy
          1 BATTLE: Maddie

          Full Heal
«You»: That was... GENIUS! Distracting them with work. No other students on Lore would fall for that but hers. Now, let's go take care of this weirdness.
Warlic: I have a notion they are out on Seahawk's Farm. That is the only location where anything this strange would happen and no one think twice.
Lady Tomo: Yes, that is where I feel drawn.
        «You»: Then, we go there.

        «Scene: Seahawk's Farm»

Seahawk: Why are her children BACK HERE!?
«You»: Well, we think that your farm has created-
Warlic: What «You» is trying to say is that something unnatural has happened here that you are not already aware of.
Warlic: Something took hold of the children while they were here on their last field trip. We need to fix things so you can return to... normal.
Seahawk: I never gave them permission to be here! I told Ms. Vox that. She promised that she would skip my fields. But, next thing I know, the students were tromping through my rows and veggies.
Seahawk: Sure, they looked a little out of it, but they are children. I don't expect them to look intelligent all the time.
Lady Tomo: Where was Ms. Vox?
Seahawk: How should I know? Maybe one of my Frankencarrots or Pea Ditties got her for allowing the little droolers on my property.
«You»: So, she wasn't with them? How long ago was that?
        Seahawk: A few days? Maybe?
Lady Tomo: Then I understand what I felt a few days ago. Everyone is in danger.

«Lady Tomo, Warlic and you leave the scene.»

Seahawk: Why can't people just leave me and my veggies alone...

«The scene fades to black and you begin moving through Seahawk's fields. While doing so, you meet a few of Seahawk's creations! For the following battles, you are allowed to select weapons.»
          4 BATTLES
Full Heal after battles #2 and #4
«The captured Battleon residents as well as a tied up Eukara Vox are seen. Children stand beside a fire, raising all their voodoo dolls.»

Cassie: He Who Measures will be here!
Timmy: All hail He Who Measures!
Cassie: We call upon you, He Who Measures. We ask that you look at our offerings and find favor with us.
Timmy: Yes, we have done all that you have asked.
        ???: Where is the mage?
Cassie: He will be here, my lord. I promised, I will fulfill.

«The fire becomes brighter and grows larger. A translucent, red figure appears from the fire.»

???: Yes... yes, my children, bring me forth! Bring your paradise forth and be rewarded!

«The fire rages and the being begins to materialize. Shortly after, the grotesque demon fully materializes, baring its sharp fangs.»

Demon: Mahahaw haw haw! I have come! Bow, for I am Hruza.

«Lady Tomo, Warlic and you enter the scene.»

Cassie: Behold, He Who Measures! It is Warlic, as I promised!
Hzura: Along with more to feed my needs...
Hzura: Another like me... delicious. Seize them, my children. Bring them to me, to your master. Make me happy.

«You equip Warlic's Homework Cannon and ready for battle against the children. You are not allowed to switch out of the weapon for the following battle.»
          1 BATTLE: Maddie
          1 BATTLE: Jimmy

          Full Heal

          1 BATTLE: Timmy
          1 BATTLE: Cassie

          Full Heal
Hzura: GRAWR! How dare you come to my party and hurt my followers! You shall pay!
«You»: Lady Tomo, Warlic, please release the ones tied up while I fight this demon!
«You»: You do not come into my world and use children to do your nefarious deeds. You are despicable! Face me, you coward, and stop hiding behind children!
Hzura: You do not know what it is you fight, weakling. But, very well. Be ready to die!

«You can switch weapons for the following battle.»
          1 BATTLE: Hruza Silenstvi
          Full Heal
Lady Tomo: I know you. You do not belong here, Hruza Silenstvi. You were banished from our realm for a reason. And now, it is time for you to go back.
Hzura: NO! I will not go back!
«You»: I don't think you have a choice. Lore is not your home. You are not welcome here.
        Hzura: And yet, SHE is!
«You»: Yep. Time for you to go away.
        Lady Tomo: Ready, Ms. Vox?
Eukara: As I will ever be. Let's just hope my magic cooperates.
        Lady Tomo: Indeed...

«Lady Tomo and Eukara begin focusing their magic. A swirling portal appears behind Hruza and sucks him into the vortex. The magical control over the children also vanishes.»

«You»: Good riddance. How... did you two do that?
Eukara: Secret only I will ever know. Now, my poor students...
Jimmy: Ms. Vox! Why are we still at the scary blue man's farm?
«You»: It's a long story... why don't you just follow all of us home?
Cassie: Um, «You»? I thought your use of 'nefarious' was very good. Ms. Vox likes for us to show how smart we are, too.

        quote:

        Dangerous Parallels

«You can skip the cutscene at anytime.»

        «Scene: The Veil»

«You»: I got here as fast as I could, ElBhe, but this had better not be....
«You»: Oh, you're here too, Lord Barrius. Then I guess it really is serious.
ElBhe: I'm offended! I'm vry srs about my job.
Lord Barrius: ....be that as it may, we may have a problem, «You».
Lord Barrius: You have been told that the shadow universe was created when the elements collapsed in on each other.
Lord Barrius: The shadow universe, a combination of Light and Darkness, was created because Light and Darkness were the strongest in that universe prior to the collapse.
Lord Barrius: But the shadow universe was not the only universe to experience such a collapse.
«You»: You're telling me there are other universes that collapsed into elemental dualities like the shadow universe?
Lord Barrius: Yes. As it turns out, this is what the SeekRat was trying to tell us when he left that book behind in his former lair.
Lord Barrius: It was a warning, one we couldn't immediately identify. In time as we researched the odd symbols, we realized their purpose.
Lord Barrius: They were tied to an ancient cult of magi that sought to gather power from other universes, the shadow universe being one of them.
Lord Barrius: Some of those magi still exist today. You may have come across one other archetype of them in the past: what you call the Fireshifters.
«You»: Oh dear....how many different types are there exactly?
Lord Barrius: We know of four, each representing a different pair of opposing elements. Most of the Darkshifters have sworn allegiance to us....
ElBhe: ....through significant use of force....
Lord Barrius: *ahem* but the other three groups, as well as those few Darkshifters who refused to serve the Order, have mostly kept to themselves and stayed in hiding.
«You»: But like you said, I've seen Fireshifters in the wild before. Why is that?
ElBhe: You're taking too long, Big B. Let me cut to the chase.
        Lord Barrius: ....
ElBhe: What he's trying to say is that the Fireshifters have been out and about because they were spying.
ElBhe: They were looking for the hidden locations for all the duality gates. The SeekRat already opened all of the shadow gates....
«You»: And let me guess: you think that these magi-turned-tentacley things are trying to open up the other core universes.
ElBhe: Bingo. See, Big B? You need to be more direct.
Lord Barrius: ....and you need a muzzle.
ElBhe: Awww, I love you too. <3
«You»: So how do we stop them?
Lord Barrius: One of my men tailed their spies to their headquarters, a large cave hidden deep in the forests near the tip of the Middle Isles.
Lord Barrius: If we can get there quickly with a sizeable army, we can stop them before they have a chance to open the gates with another ritual.
ElBhe: We'll have to hurry. Lore barely fought off the shadow incursion. They won't be able to fight off the mist, plasma, and sand universes all at the same time.
        «You»: Then let's get going!
        WAR!

        Dangerous Parallels
An ancient cult of magi is attempting to open the other Duality Gates in Lore. If we don't stop them, Lore will be faced with at least three times the number of forces as they faced in the last shadow war!

        «Scene: Shifter HQ»

«You»: This plan of yours ends now.
Fireshifter: How did you know of our plans to begin with? We were still far from ready....
«You»: Unfortunately for you, the SeekRat had the idea first. We found his research about the Duality Gates. That led to your cult, and to you.
Windshifter: The SeekRat? But he is the one who gave us the idea!
«You»: I can't say I'm surprised. He's fooled other villains in the past, too. Tricked them into doing him favors.
«You»: What did he trick you into doing?
Fireshifter: The rat wanted access to his other selves, in exchange for his aid in locating all of the Duality Gates.
Fireshifter: We have been searching for the Duality Gates for many years, with no luck. Almost all of the records had been destroyed.
Windshifter: So you can imagine our surprise when he offered to tell us the locations of all of them.
Energyshifter: We taught him how to access the other universes to obtain his other selves without needing a gate, just as we had learned how to do to obtain the power we now have.
Windshifter: And it seems he planned his betrayal to us from the beginning, if you have been in possession of these records as long as you claim.
Fireshifter: The rat shall pay dearly for this.
«You»: Then we're too late, and you've made him even more powerful than ever. Great....
«You»: Well, I guess we're finished here, then. I'll leave you for the Order to sort out. They'll probably want to keep tabs on your movements from now on.
«You»: Lord Barrius! They're all yours.

«You leave the scene and Lord Barrius enters.»

        Darkshifter: Oh gods! It's YOU!
Lord Barrius: Indeed it is. And if you know me, then you know why I am both feared and respected by your kind.
Lord Barrius: The Order has not maintained the delicate balance in Lore by allowing creatures who wield hybrid magics to go throwing their magic around at a whim.

«Lord Barrius unsheathes Lodestar as the scene fades to black... Outside the Shifter HQ, you speak to ElBhe.»

«You»: I just hope we're done with all of these hybrid elements. Plasma, mist, sand.... it's enough to start getting really confusing.
ElBhe: The SeekRat's already got what he wanted: power from the core four hybrid universes.
ElBhe: The four core universes are the only ones that have created creatures like me, so he won't bother with them.
ElBhe: Can't blame him, either. Who would want to go to a universe where there's no one like me around?
        «You»: ....
        ElBhe: ....

«The scene fades to black. With a small light illuminating the scene, amid the darkness, the SeekRat can be seen. A magical orb flashing between multiple element colors can be seen before he crushes the orb, and the scene fades to black. Back at the Seeker's HQ, Lord Barrius is done dealing with the Shifters and has returned. A treasure chest is on the ground.»

Lord Barrius: The Seekrat seems to be one step ahead. We'll have to double our efforts to take down this fowl beast.
Lord Barrius: These Shifters may prove useful after all...

        Times Silent Keeper

        quote:

        The Past Unraveled

«Scene: Hall of Memories. Donovan and Crispus exits a door.»

Donovan: The shade's manipulations of that event were quite impressive. I despise him, but one almost has to respect his ingenuity. Almost...
Crispus: When he sent Cara to the future, he sent her, and her son, right into his own waiting arms.
Donovan: Indeed, meaning he planned for Nightbane's creation from the very beginning. He has his hands in it at every step, just as he manipulated me.

        «Cenara exits through a door.»

Donovan: The question is, how do we turn this to our advantage...

«Following behind Cenara is the White Abbess, exiting through the same door.»

Cenara: How odd. But why would Tralin have consumed that potion if it could have killed hi....

«Cenara turns around and realizes Donovan and his minion are in the Hall, too.»

        Cenara: Donovan!

        «Donovan turns to face Cenara.»

Donovan: Crispus, run along to the fortress. I will be there shortly.
        Crispus: Lord.

        «Crispus enters a door.»

Donovan: Why hello, sister dear. Enjoying the Caelestian's hospitality too, were you? How fortunate.
Donovan: And hello mother, it is good to see you again.
Cenara: Do not call me sister. You are no brother of mine...
Donovan: You make me such a bald lie with our mother standing right here? You wound me...

        «Donovan transforms into Nightreign.»

Donovan: ...but not as much as I am going to wound you.

«Cenara transforms into Gracefang to prepare for Nightreign's assault.»

Nightreign: Unless you enjoy seeing your children come to blows, mother dear, I suggest you run along...
Evina: I will do no such thing. The two of you will stop this at once!
Evina: Or by the powers I will give you all the discipline you are owed.

«A mysterious character exits from another door in the Hall.»

???: I hate to break up such a loving family portrait, and such clearly clever repartee, but we need to leave the Hall.

        «The Hall suddenly rumbles!»

        ???: NOW!
Abode: It's too late, the effect has already been triggered. I cannot cast you all out.
Abode: Scion, you need to seek aid. The barriers are breaking down already.
Scion: Sounds like you folks are in for a fun time.
Scion: Sorry I couldn't stick around to see the fireworks, but you know, people to do, things to see.

        «Scion vanishes.»

Gracefang: Abode? Who was that and what is he talking about? What is going on?
Evina: I can answer the first part. That was Scion of the Nachtfee.
Nightreign: You know that impudent Night Fae?
Evina: He had some dealings with Balius long ago. The Nachtfee or Night Fae are a somewhat enigmatic race as a whole, but Scion...
Evina: He is something else entirely.
Nightreign: What about the second question? What is going on house?!
Abode: My name is Abode. Something is going wrong with my internal workings, something major. It is almost as if in the astral plane, memory prime itself is... leaking.

«Gracefang transforms back to his human form.»

        Cenara: Leaking?
Abode: Yes. But that is impossible. Memories recorded there are immutable. Even uncreated things still have record there.
Abode: Though, such become sealed to non-divine entities and those not excluded, normally.
Abode: The collective unconscious cannot change. So the problem must be me... But how could it be me...

«Evina slowly vanishes into thin air!»

        Cenara: Mother!

«Nightreign transforms back to his human form.»

Donovan: Where did our mother go?
Abode: I do not know... I told you it's leaking! Memories are spilling into each other; the past is becoming unraveled. She is lost somewhere within my halls.
Abode: She could be anywhere or anywhen within the limits I was able to erect.
        Cenara: What are those limits?
Abode: Within Lore and about 11 years give or take.
Cenara: That is a very broa....

«Cenara vanishes into the depths of time as well!»

        Donovan: Listen house, you brin...

«Donovan faces the same fate as Cenara and Evina. Shortly after, Kid Fal appears into the scene.»

Kid Fal: Abode, I am detecting something very odd going on, what's wr....

«Every entity of Falerin splits out from Kid Fal!»

        Muscles Fal: What is this?
Lanfire Fal: Something has disintegrated us. Obviously...
Teen Fal: Enough of your biting wit. Besides, if you cannot use words correctly do not use them at all.
Teen Fal: "Disintegrated" would mean we were reduced to powder. The word you want is either segregated, disaggregated, or perhaps deintegrated.
Kid Fal: The time divides here are bleeding.
Teen Fal: I agree. The question is what caused that effect and why has it separated us.
Falerin (E): If you think I am sticking around to find out why, you are nuttier than E's fruitcake.

        «E vanishes from the scene.»

Falerin: I will worry about retrieving him from the E continuum later. We have bigger fish to fry.
        Lanfire Fal: Like what?
Ardendor: Like that fact that the only other time this ever happened to us was when Erebus killed us.
Lanfire Fal: Indicating he is probably somehow involved in this?
Teen Fal: But how, as he is clearly trapped elsewhere?

«Lanfire, Teen, Kid and Muscles Fal vanish from the scene.»

Falerin: Yes like that.... and the fact that the leaking barriers are scattering me through the Hall of Memories.
        Ardendor: Well that sucks.

        «Ardendor vanishes, too.»

        Falerin: Yeah...

«Falerin vanishes from the scene. Everyone is now lost within the depths of the Hall...»

        Abode: Hurry back Scion. Please!

        To be continued!
