 Yes, the draw strength is measured in pounds. 20-45 lbs is normal for beginners, so I thought that'd be good. My hunting bow's 60lb, and it's kinda hard to pull, so a lighter bow would be better for my character. I could make it a compound instead if a recurve, but that would make it more accurate, which I don't want.

Edit: Whoa, I replied before I even realized Kinz posted! Yup, I'm a pretty big fan of archery. My bow is a compound, but I explained why I thought a recurve would work better.

Oh, and thank you for answering my question. A bow actually being 45 pounds would be ridiculous...

I have a 35 pound longbow, and a 50 pound compound bow.

I like bows.

 I meant the finite weight of the actual equipment, not the drawstrength required. A bow actually weighing 45 lbs. WOULD in fact be ridiculous.

Oh. Yes, that would be ridiculous.
My longbow is like 2-4 pounds to hold, but the compound is like...7-12.

 O_o A 50lb longbow? That must be pretty hard to draw. As I said, I've got a 45lb compound, and it takes done muscle toget that thing back all the way. Then again, it is as tall as me. Literally.

 While I don't own an archery set per se, I can draw a compound bow of 30 pounds right now. Ok, I'm no Robin/a Hood, but the first few times I tried out archery, I could hit the target about three-quarters of the time.

@Crystel I love target shooting! Great stress reveler. Though I haven`t been able to shoot at a target since we moved into a apartment!

 Sadly, I myself haven't been up to the archery range in a couple months. See, I had this really cool 35lb compound bow, really nice one. Only, my brother always took it and shot the fiberglass (hey, they're cheap) arrows at tree stumps and rocks and busted most of them. Then he dry-fired the bow *shakes head* and snapped it in half. We went out and bought me a new bow ( 45lb hunting bow, rather huge) but we don't have arrows for it. Well, I have a couple barbed arrows that might work, but I'm not really comfortable using them.

wow you guys have a lot of stuff
I haven't tried a bow yet but I tried a gun shotgun I think
which is I think works better and faster and wider and easier
Although I don't know about all those lbs things I just shoot stuff and reload
as long as the bullet fits it's fine with me

Pic Related: While we're on the subject, about two weeks ago I went shooting. I've always been a handgun guy myself. Not sure why.

In this picture I think I used two cylinders of a Governor. My aim was pretty off on a few of those shots, but this was from pretty far away so... Meh.



I like Swamp's little piece there. You're definitely one of the best writers on this side of the forums lol.




EDIT: No idea what that is a broken image. Anyway, 7-8 shots where placed in the dead center, the rest were scattered about. A total of 12 bulletholes.

 Ah, guns. *smiles* *somehow just flung iPod up and hit self in face IRL* Ow...

Anyways, I like guns. I go trap shooting every Tuesday, if the weather is nice. But it's not my favorite gun related sport- the whole thing about not aiming sorta bugs me. Plus, I have to use my brother's Tristar Youth 20 gauge, and it is a bit too small for me.

I've shot a few .22 handguns, can't remember what type as it was almost a year ago. I was a fair shot with those, but the targets were at 25 yards soo... Lol.

Then there are rifles. Sweet, glorious rifles. I personally own only one (a little Marlin .22, I call it my squirrel gun) but my family has a very large collection of guns. A couple weeks ago I went down to the range (see picture) and shot my squirrel gun, another .22, and a 300 win mag. The win mag was AWESOME- got a bipod, which makes it so it has no more kick than a .22! I'm a pretty good shot when it comes to rifles, I think.

I think I confused the person working at Sports Authority yesterday. While my brother was getting his snowboard, I went up to the gun counter (note I am very small for my age, and it was hot out so I was wearing a short ruffles-and-lace-and-floral skirt and tank top) and asked to see the longbow they had on display. Lol.

No, no, the compound is 50 lbs, the longbow is 35lbs.
I tried shooting with a rifle once. It was meh.
Shot a desert eagle...
Bashed it upside my head from the recoil...

I like bows better...

 Ah, I see. That makes sense.

For me, I prefer bows over guns, too, but I generally go shooting with guns than my bow.
