You still haven't explained Alexander's combat powers. We cannot accept your bio unless you do so.

Element: WATER
Name: Alexander
Gender: Male
Age Range: Mid-20's
Race: Human, taken over by Kathool Adept
Appearance: Alexander's eyes are a shadow of what they once were. He levitates about 2 feet constantly, due to the fact that he is constantly under the effect that he is underwater, because Kathool knows he would go mad if he knew that he was on land, so Kathool supports the effect by distorting his vision, to look like the sea, and by keeping him levitating. He has jet black hair and his build is handsome, but the paleness of his face, and the coldness of his eyes ruin the effect. Tentacles and dully gleaming armor with purple gems cover his body.
Belongings: Nothing, save his sword, specially crafted to always stay sharp by one of Kathooloo's weapon masters, and his armor, which sustains his life, as it draws lifeforce from Kathool
Personality: Alexander seems to be an uncaring person without willpower, but when you look into his eyes you see a deep sadness, due to this, you believe he can be reasoned with. If you anger or threaten him he goes into a primitive, murderous rage.
History: Alexander was a young boy when the fire war started. It was long and hard, and killed both of his parents. His father died when he was about 12, and his mother, at 17. By then, he was a boy capable of taking care of himself, due to many years of handling swords and knives, as his father was a weaponsmith. He didn't know where he was going, but was called to the sea by a whisper. As soon as he set foot in it, a giant fish ate him whole and swam down to Kathool's cave, who using telepathy, and made a deal with him: for his servitude, Kathool would grant him a great power. For years, Alexander handled it well, and got married with a wife, who became a Guardian. In the Friday the 13th war against Sepulchure she was in the Guardian Tower when it fell, and all but died in the crash. When he found her she was whimpering, begging for him to kill her. Knowing that her pain must be unbearable, he snapped her neck.
Weaknesses: While wounds to his flesh do not cause him pain, the tentacles when harmed are extremely painful, and if enough of them were harmed, his levitation would stop working, leaving his neck open for attack. While his heart and brain are his only points where he is vulnerable, they are easy to get to, as the armor in front of his heart has rotted away, leaving a hard shell in its place that fire could easily melt away, and his head is not covered by any helmet. Also, if the jewels on his armor are removed, he dies from asphyxiation, as he needs water to breathe and the jewels keep a constant water bubble in his mouth.

Past this point, only resubmits will be accepted for bios. Please continue to enjoy the use of this thread as your general OOC for the EC as a whole.

We have a LOT more competitors than last year. I wonder what caused this sudden interest in the EC following the spiral of doom this competition has appeared to have in the past few years.

Riprose, you seem confident in your abilities. I hope we're in the same arena.... Muahahahaha......

That reminds me of a question that came to me. How exactly does combat and the arena's work? Is there a neutral area for our character's to commune, or is it all a bloody free for all for every fighter in an arena?

There are several different arenas that are assigned randomly, splitting up the competitors. Characters can talk or form alliances within the arena, but mostly it's a free-for-all of death. I don't think there's a place for the fighters to commune, so talking for too long will get you killed. Basically, walk in and fight, or wait to be attacked.

I can only assume people have slowly been losing intrest with the RP Boards and ARP that you needed to be abart of to apply and, now that it's open to everyone, people are just sitting down and thinking "Ehh, I could spare 5 minutes to copy/ paste a bio"

Good luck to everyone~ I hope I'll get to see you in the Arena >:3

This year, there are lots of people who will stand in my way :O The shadows aren't as busy as they were two years ago, but I can guarantee that they'll be nearly as talkative this year <3

Watch as a shadow appears from nowhere.

Watch as the night closes in.

And then...

Watch no longer.

25 competitors this year.
15 competitors last year.

Of the current competitors, 14 were available for combat last year. This means that we basically gained 14 new people, due to the non-participation of TormentedDragon, Ryu Viranesh, and Mirai. I'm a bit surprised that Eukky got to join >_> she's a busy dragonfly. And there are a great deal of new faces who I am really excited to meet.

If anything, it's not a renewed interest in the EC; it's simply a relaxing of prerequisites, that's all. Remember, the application process is just as strict as it was last year!

/tickles Arthur: There's been no "spiral" of the EC, silly Dragonlord. It was the RP main boards that were the problem, and we're on the road to fixing those ever since the new system started. I'd call it more of a "slump."

*Squeaks as she's pulled from her delighted-to-have-been-approved bouncing and up against the Rose Knight's shoulder, grinning with a bright laugh as he ruffles her hair* 'Twould be a shame indeed, Bara-kun, though I'm not quite sure you're familiar with the futility of trying to pin down a breeze, so I'm expecting to be impressed by how you manage to cause the wind itself to fall~ ^ u^

And heylloes, Arthur! I'm so excited to see everyone here! This is going to be an honor, reading everyone's lovely writing. C:

While I would be perfectly content with letting Arthur take the blame, I feel I must inform Starstruck that I was the one who made the "spiral" comment. I couldn't find the word I was looking for, so I went with the first word that came to mind. "Slump" works, or "temporary depression."

Five Darkness competitors is a lot. The element has a certain attraction to it, as if every RPer feels the internal urge to create the most evil character they can imagine.

Darkness? Evil?

Ahahahaha. A popular trait associated with the element but not always so.

Anti-heroes are the closest to good, but not always pure villains.

A lot for recent EC's. I would like to participate in an EC like the ones in the past, where there was need for more than two elimination-round arenas.

@Star

You're forgetting mrbk, he's got Cadet Camp momentarily.

@Ferret/Ronin

That seems to imply there were more Characters ages ago. How many Characters were there for an element of all the ECs you've been in?

@Arthur

I don't know our clan off by heart.... Who else competing is in the Dirge?

The Fountain Arena is pretty darn cool. Woulda been cool to compete there, but not for me to decide. I'm fine with the Cellar.

Creative!

Matthew is relieved at his placement in the fountain arena, he feels the other two would have been poor matches for him indeed.

There are colors I can tolerate for text. Hot pink is not one of them. If you must used colored text in the OOC, please choose a muted color that does not hurt my eyes. ~TD

I'm glad Eyra isn't in my character's arena, as it is now his primary goal to fight her in the finals.

Also prepared to get my patootie handed to me by Eukara...

The fountain looks awesome. I'll be drawing lots of little maps for myself, haha

I've RPed only with Schiz and deth from my group. And they're both formidable.

Strange though, one can't just "waltz" into the Sky Arena.
