An idea I had after I had just fought some STR Bounty that beat me with Skill Points invested into only 2 skills (You know which ones). I've been thinking, since Focus exists to add incentive to balance stats, shouldn't there be a bonus to balance your Skill Points or, how I propose them, to fill/partly fill your tree or part of it? What I propose is a system more or less like this. The "bonus" being referred to is an Energy Cost reduction: - You can only get the bonus if your Skill Tree is full (1 point in everything) - The bonus starts to apply to all the tier 1 skills first when they each have a minimum of 2 (this rule applies to all tiers). If they have an ever higher synergy (like 3), they get a stronger boost (similarly to Focus). - The next tier (Tier 2) can only receive this bonus if the previous tier (tier 1) has already gained their bonus. Also, the tier's bonus cannot exceed the bonus of its previous. Here's an example: Take a Skill Tree and assume it has 1 Skill Point invested in everything (full). Next, assume the first set of skills (tier 1) has a Bonus Level of 4 (4 points invested, at least, into FM and the other 2 skills). The tier 2 skills can now receive up to a Bonus Level of 4, but for the sake of example, let's say they only reached a Bonus Level of 3 (3 points invested, at the least, to each of the tier 2 skills). Now, the tier 3 skills can get a Bonus Level, but only up to the Bonus Level of tier 2, which is 3. Let's say the player could only fill that tier up to Bonus Level of 2. Finally, tier 4 skills can get a Bonus Level of up to 2. For the sake of making sure people don't start to discuss whether my proposed numbers are balanced or not, I didn't put values, only gave you the idea. The idea...wait: Tl;dr The idea is that players get rewarded for evenly distributing Skill Points in their tree, much like how they are rewarded with Focus for doing the same with stats. What are your thoughts? Many time, the most effective builds are those that focus on maxing one stat to win, while you get nothing (except weaker skills) if you distribute them evenly.
