^I admit, I do agree that it would be slightly unfair to people who got forced into an alignment they didn't want to be in, and that instead of subtracting points, that it could simply be dirt cheap in rating points, like 50 or something(That's just my opinion of cheap, though). However: quote:

The factions are supposed to be like that in a way, and if they didn't have them as focused on the story, it wouldn't be as coherent and the plot would be slightly shifted. I arrived at this conclusion because the word "guild" simply means, "a group of people joined for a common cause". In this sense, the 2 alignments are very similar to guilds, because of 2 common yet radically different purposes. Therefore, making them more like guilds might inadvertingly create new alignments with different purposes, making the story much more confusing and complex enough to drive people away from ED as a whole.
