I'd also just like to note that a lot of the Halloween traditions actually began within Europe, Ireland playing a particular part in that, and a lot of the first signs of vegetable carving is actually evident here - though the first records of Pumpkin Carving are in America, there is actually evidence to suggest that the tradition, as with many other Halloween traditions, actually sparked off within Europe and spread to America, just different names were used for them! So saying the tradition is not particularly strong in the UK, is far from the truth, since it is certainly dependent on the area, as stated, in my area, the tradition is still very strong. NO! NO! NO. The tradition started within America first then it developed into europe afterwards. I remember in stratford (UK) about 10 years ago, no one celebrated haloween but since there are alot of more people coming into the country in the UK from the US; it started as a tradition for us. Back when I was in school; we didn't use to have one week holidays off from school but now when I went to college we do have one week holiday. And plus I know I'm sure it developed in the US first because that came up in my exams for humanities about the traditions of haloween and I got a* (full marks) so I'm sure I am correct even though I cannot look at my paper ;'(. Sorry got abit excited ;D Haha, understood! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween - according to wikipedia and a few other sites, some of the traditions started in Europe, however I am simply running off those! If that is incorrect, then I apologise, aha ~Lycus Wiki = What I know is. Not all of the wiki is true you know.... Its like saying all of google translator is correct but it isn't ~Deathknightofdread Not all of it, but I tend to trust it when quite a few of the other sites about the subject backs up the same sort of events ~Lycus
