You find yourself in a strange place, a grand, round room within a structure of some sorts. It is dark and empty, though by glancing up you can see holes in the structure's roof giving view to a mesmerizing purple sky devoid of any stars. You do not know for how long you've been staring at the spectacle, but slowly you become aware that the roof is gradually dissolving into nothingness as dust blown away in the wind. What scares you the most is that you remain calm despite this impending doom. "Beautiful, isn't it?" You come to your senses with a shock and look around you bewildered. There in the shadows stands a person, though you cannot discern much of its identity other than the fact it seems to wear a cloak of some sorts though if your eyes are to be believed it might as well be living shadows twirling around the figure. "I suppose you want to know where we are?" The person remarks, guessing your thoughts. "This is the Citadel of Creation, the heart of the Spirit Lord, Lorithia," the figure says before pointing at the shadowy recesses in the room, "And those are the seats of the Elemental Lords in her court." "Those "tiny" doors between the recesses are where the physical visitors would come in." You cannot see the doors, so you have no choice but to take this person's word for it. "Where are the gods you may be asking yourself?" The person pauses for a moment, "They're dying." You blink your eyes, trying to let this person's words sink in. "This is the last place left in existence, just as it was once the first. Lorithia clings onto existence yet," the figure pauses again and steps out of the way to reveal a little orb floating in the center of the room, "That is the Aegis of Lorithia, and before you ask the Eye and not the Shield." You look puzzled at the little orb which emits a faint, ethereal glow and wonder why you're being shown this or any of this at all. "You have been given the honour to synchronize your mind with that of the Eye, a boon to experience the universe through the eye of the Creator for your services. Divinum verum." You wonder if you even want to. "Reality unravels by the minute. Consider this life as it flashes before your eyes. What comes next is uncertainty, death may persist or it may perish along with everything else. It is unknown," the figure says and you feel yourself getting hollow and cold as fear takes over your senses. A world where death is an uncertainty, those thoughts echo through your mind. "Come then, Chosen," the figure beckons you and you numbly reply by walking forward, your feet marching with a will of their own even as your mind tries to tell them to stop. You touch the orb, surprised to find it matches your body temperature for a split second, then a flash of white as your mind syncs with that of the Aegis. As the white fades, you notice your body standing in fr- somewhere near you. The sensation that your vision extends 360 degrees now is overwhelming, you try to blink only to find that you cannot. You see threads in all colours of the rainbow connecting your body with that of the figure and the room acting like a large amplifier which link to the recesses which you thought looked dark before but now are bundles of bright, glowing threads reaching out to one another and all of creation. As you think these things you wonder how you know all of this. "You know because I do. Now focus on a thread and follow it to see the world as I do one last time." Comments and Criticism.
