Warlic's Magic Shop
By Artix Krieger on Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Warlic is a mage. His mysterious origins and unique magical gifts make even the least intelligent townfolk wonder why.... why would a being so powerful set up a tiny magic shop here in this small town!? oh, and let it be knonw... his Magic Shop is full of wonder, and horrifically dangerous artifacts of unfathomable power.

Skeleton? ...must have ran out of room in the closets.

There is something wrong with that fire.... normally I would not suggest touching open flames, but, today is a special day.

Also... looking back, there is quite an art jump from the original AdventureQuest to this one!

In the original AdventureQuest, Warlic's shop contained a few secrets. Candles that could be moved to solve a puzzle which opened the treasure chest. In this new Magic shop, Warlic has... a room mate.

Warlic is still moving in... more on this to come.

*is not surprised one of the first comments on the DNs was SoraToHoshi's fangirl reaction*

Warlic's room mate? In DF it's Cy but that might not be the same thing here...

@above

they use AQW as a base for majority of this game, likely to stay.

EDIT
Great, we've got Warlic in town too!
Can we actually focus on the gameplay itself now?

LyRein: I must say Artix said otherwise. From the Combat Animations DNs:
quote:

Honestly, AdventureQuest 3D probably should have been named "DragonFable 3D" considering how much the characters, animations, and general feel has been derived from it.

So we cannot affirm AQW is the base for the majority of this game.

@Azan

Dragonfable feel? I don't see the difference in feel between the other 3 games.
The whole of Battleon is shaped after AQW's Battleon as-well, Dragonfable took place in Falconreach.

Characters?
Dage is AQW since that's where he became an artist and made his faction.

Other than that there is Warlic, Cysero, Artix, Yulgar...
all in the other games too.

Animations are not comparable, 3D Motion Capture to 2D Flash Coded.

The combat is nothing similar to Dragonfable, follows the same pattern as AQW too (4 simple skills, no combos, classes have to be bought or earned and then bought).

Just because Artix said doesn't mean it isn't.
Perhaps they are AIMING towards that feel, but if so they're not doing so well.

You can argue: it's just alpha
then i'll say; why can it look like AQW in alpha but not DF in alpha?

EDIT
Why are we even WANTING to make it comparable to their other games?
Why aren't we trying to make it it's own and have it's own charm?
