The "strongest class" really depends on what you're after. Do you want a class that's good at farming? At long quests like the Deepest Neverglades? Or maybe for a specific boss fight? The answer to the question varies and only fails to offer variety where DoomKnight is involved. The safest bet would be to say that all classes labeled as "tier 3" in the Armor Tier Breakdown are equally balanced together, and collectively make up the "second best" that DragonFable has to offer.

But if you would like some specific examples of which class is good for what, I'll offer these as my personal opinions:

Ordinary Battles (Single Target): Ascended Chickencow, Riftwalker
Ordinary Battles (Multi Target): Ascended Chickencow, Evolved PumpkinLord, Kathool Adept
Boss Battles: Ancient Exosuit, Ascendant, Cryptic, Death Knight, DragonLord, enTropy, Icebound Revenant, Master SoulWeaver, Pyromancer
Farming: Ascended Chickencow, Riftwalker, Kathool Adept
Endurance (Mana intensive activities): Ancient Exosuit, DragonLord, Pyromancer
Versatility: Death Knight, Cryptic, enTropy, Evolved PumpkinLord, Icebound Revenant, Master SoulWeaver

Obviously it's not perfect. But all or most tier 3 classes fit into at least two of the categories I listed. For general use, I'd probably look in the Ordinary Battles and Farming categories. Endurance is for really, REALLY long quests and boss battles where Versatility has classes that are jacks of all trade and can do a little bit of everything. Either way, you can't really go wrong with any of the tier 3 classes. Just use the one that works the best for you.

I wanted the Ice Bound Revenant class was changed to the original design art Black with purple and blue ice as Cronix showed me via Twitter https://twitter.com/cesarmelo831677/media the name for this class if to leave as NPC would be Queen Lamavre sister Pallor Queen and has a super cool sword think I could paint in the color that he did. To why the scythe Frost icebound and black and white. You could also have the ice can not so ice attacks could add the Aegis powers as ice serpent. I would also have the base classes with the most elegant clothes and fashion could be renewed clothes as already done with the face before the eyes were black and now thin face with blue eyes and more defined. I wonder what the point of being one of the Dragon base classes, if the powers are the same as creating base classes and the clothes are older and simple after Nythera accounts is a Dragon Mage purple and the Dragon Mage class has no power equal to it?

Did Ninja ever get a revamp? It feels so weak at current meta.

Ninja was indeed revamped -- you can see the new skills in relation to the old ones here -- but it is categorized as a tier 2 class and is therefore weaker than more preferable story classes like Master SoulWeaver or Death Knight. It looks like it'd be pretty good for someone who just finished the Wind Orb Saga, though! Try racking up DoTs to empower Catalyst! Even without the Summon Honda trinket, 190% weapon damage on a one turn cooldown provides some nice filler until Shadow Strike is available again.

@Samira: Ash had planned to differentiate the ordinary and Dragon Base Classes in some way before his leave from staff. Now it's kind of up in the air. :(

Just bought the Pyromancer. Cannot wait to test it out with my ShadowFire Axe.

EDIT: That feeling stacking 4 DoTs (ShadowFire,Paper Cut,Burning, On Fire) with Malcifer.

The Dragonlord classes, 100%. While Guardian is trying for a similar concept, its animations are pretty weird so it ruins the feel for me.

DragonLord, Guardian, Paladin, Death Knight, and Icebound Revenant all feel quite knightly to me.

If I had to choose one over all others... Well, I couldn't really do that from an objective standpoint. They all wear the motif with style. Even amidst the dazzling, magical attacks, many of their skills employ little more than magically empowered melee strikes, and all the classes in that line-up have sterling damage mitigation to satisfy the fantasy of an armored knight.

My personal favorites are Death Knight and DragonLord. :)

Depends on how you define a knight

Paladin has the most "Knight in Shining Armor" vibe but Dragonlord and it's variants have the most "Order of Warriors aranged for a common goal" vibe. Guardian has it too, but having gotten into AE though AQ I have trouble seeing it as a "real" class.

DeathKnight has a pretty good Black Knight vibe.

So a post that just was locked in the GD titled "what do you believe is the Strongest Calendar Class? why?" led me to do some tests to personally find out which is the best as I have every calendar class other than archivist (soon dang it!). I only looked at the most damaging moves/combos and used the soulforged sword (95-95 damage range). I'll update this post with my findings

Chronomancer:
Notes:
  • Has a 40% damage boost that also does damage (140%)
  • Continuum slash does a maximum of 15% of monster hp per hit so 30% total. This means it has big damage potential if the enemy is weakened but from experience, it is rarely useful.
  • Assumed 33% crit rate for damage values (I used Doomknight gear and Elemental Unity at max level)

    Damage (unboosted)
    Record: 248
    Blade of Meanwhile: 498
Blink: 330 + whatever skill you use afterwards (max damage possible is Blink + BoM which is 828)
Time Bombs: 197 + 48 DoT for 5 turns (437 delayed total damage)

    Damage (boosted)
    Record: 348
    Blade of Meanwhile: 696
Blink: 459 + whatever skill you use afterwards (max damage possible is Blink + BoM which is 1155!)
Time Bombs: 274 + 48 DoT for 5 turns (514 delayed total damage)

    Chronocorruptor:
    Notes:
  • Has a +40% crit chance boost (this is a +80 crit boost, and gave me a 75% crit chance)
  • Continuum slip does a maximum of 15% of monster hp per hit so 30% total. This damage is based on how much damage is done on the turn prior to when it is used, so it is more useful than chronomancer's slash, but still isn;t useful for normal monsters, only against high hp bosses.
  • Assumed 33% crit rate for damage values (I used Doomknight gear and Elemental Unity at max level)

    Damage (unboosted)
    Scratch: 248
    Cannon of Meanwhile: 498
Dark Blink: 330 + whatever skill you use afterwards (max damage possible is Blink + BoM which is 828)
Tempus Blade: 197 + 48 DoT for 5 turns (437 delayed total damage)

    Damage (boosted)
    Scratch: 326
    Cannon of Meanwhile: 498
Dark Blink: 441 + whatever skill you use afterwards (max damage possible is Blink + CoM which is 939)
Tempus Blade: 261 + 48 DoT for 5 turns (501 delayed total damage)

    Timekiller:
    Notes:
  • Timekiller has a 15 crit boost from the arbalest charge skill, this adds to the damage somewhat (gave me a 52% crit chance, I assumed this for all damage values)
  • It also has a 30% boost skill
  • Everything other than quickshot, rapid fire, and unload require arbalest charges, and unload requires use of rapid fire to unlock.

    Damage (unboosted)
    Quick shot: 744
    Final: 934
    Lightning Flash: 180
    Powershots: 512
    Rapid Fire: 280
    Unload: 424

    Damage (boosted)
    Quick shot: 968!
    Final: 1215!
    Lightning Flash: 243
    Powershots: 666
    Rapid Fire: 364
    Unload: 544

    Chronoz:
This one is a bit tricky to test so I'll just summarize what it can do. It has a 50% damage boost which can then be rewinded to do the dimensional rift attack. Other than that, its best damage combo is to repeatedly use blast followed by bow to do 400 damage per turn. This completely blows any other chrono class out of the water in terms of damage AND healing.

    Avatar of Time:

    Damage (unboosted)
    Orb of Time: 412
Staff of Meanwhile: 231 + 38 DOT for 4 turns (383 total delayed damage)
    Lux Et Tenebrae: 370
    NeverWas Cross: 911
    Timeline Shift: 515
    Time Storm: 459

    Damage (boosted)
    Orb of Time: 581
Staff of Meanwhile: 323 + 76 DOT for 4 turns (627 total delayed damage)
    Lux Et Tenebrae: 634
    NeverWas Cross: 1267!
    Time Storm: 645

    Conclusion:
Chronoz is definitely the strongest calendar class of the ones I tested. It does 400 damage per turn repeatably forever until your mana runs out and also has the amazing dimensional rift combo which does even MORE damage when it coolsdown. No other chrono class can repeatedly do 400 damage every turn, forever. Thus, ChronoZ's average DPT is higher than the rest. Furthermore it has 2 heals that each heal 50% hp in one turn and one of which even heals 100% mp!

The only calendar class that hits harder than chronoz is archivist, provided that the user uses the orbs skill and stacks a bunch of boosts. However, since archivist's cooldowns carry between battles, it's massive damage strategy must be reserved for bosses and cannot be used repeatedly. ChronoZ on the other hand is great at both regular mob fights and boss fights. In fact, even in multi battles, it's multi can be used every other turn, easily taking care of groups.

Thus if you wanted to choose one calendar class to buy, choose ChronoZ.

(If you really hate having to memorize combos, the next best option would be Timekiller followed by AoT. Why TK over AoT? One word: Quickshot. It lets TK 1 turn kill every solo monster battle and lets it open up on boss fights with a massive hit. All the turns saved by quickshot easily make up for the turns wasted gathering arbalest, making TK more efficient than AoT which will need to two turn kill every monster or waste a ton of mp on orb of time...

In the Ultimate Strategy Guide, which I did not too long ago, I did a mathematical damage comparison of all classes, and while I got rid of it for being clunky and inefficient, the key conclusions were as such:

    -DoomKnight is DoomKnight
-Ascendant is ridiculously OP in a long fight
-Cryptic is arguably the best class in the game short of DoomKnight, and enTropy is kind of in the same mould
-Riftwalker falls short after a few moves
-ChronoZ (as you concluded, pitties) is really good, miles ahead of any other calendar class (I don't know about Archivist, this was before Archivist was released)
-Evolved PumpkinLord is really good (surprisingly so)
-Master SoulWeaver is good in a long fight.

I will see what I can do with that analysis and make a definitive list of classes, so as to rank them all by offense and defense.

Why is cryptic the best? Is it the best well-rounded (decent damage, decent defenses), or is it the best in every category short of DmK?

Oh and I'm curious about your Evolved Pumpkinlord analysis, I haven't really used it much... And how much damage does ascendant do per turn on average? ChronoZ I found does 400 damage every turn (taking into account player stats and all that).

Oh and if you are curious this is how I got my numbers. I first found out the total noncrit damage done by the skill (no crits), which is a fixed number because my weapon does 95-95 damage. Then I took this number, "x", and calculated the following: (x*0.66)+(2x*0.33) to get the damage on average with a 33% crit rate. With my max level gear, my crit chance was actually 35% but I estimated it as 33% to make it simpler.

@Urmi: I took a look at your character page after I read your post and noticed you don't have chronoZ. Unfortunately, youtube guides on the armor don't show proper damage rotations and strategies, so you can't really know how good the armor is unless you try it for yourself. I'll see if I can upload a video though...

i have friends who play this i can use their dc/rares when i don't have them its how i tried chronocorruptor i still regret not getting that one, i own doomknight i can do 600-1000 damage min if i decided to try, my point is ive tried all the calendar classes minus archivist and Aot makes me feel more powerful even if the damage isn't as high while not everything ascetic and flair is important and im not a fan of Z's outside of its battle pose I also heavily dislike combo reliant playstyles.

Archivist certainly has ridiculously high burst damage with the ultimate orb skill, giving you an attack and then 4 consecutive turns. I do not have any exact numbers, though.

Also, considering how pretty much any tier 2 or higher class has almost no problem with most bosses (most quest bosses are really quite easy), this actually matters only for the most powerful bosses, or for how fast you can finish a quest (and in this category RW might be the best, other than DMK).

@Pitties: RW can attack on the first turn of combat for 550% damage (with power) (edit: taking into account realm cutter powerboost), not including possible critical (so theoretically up to 1100%), which is easily enough to one shot almost all non-boss enemies.

(for comparison: Pyro's max first-turn damage is 300% after crit, KAA is about 500% after crit (with red tide, depending on level), entropy is 540% after crit, and even a lvl 80 DMK (new version) is max 520% with crit (blood rite). The only possibly higher first-turn damage I found is paladin's holy wrath vs undead, which deals 600% after crit, and a RW needs only one crit out of 4 attacks to top that.)

I still like ChronoZ best before Archivist, simply because the continuing cooldowns can be quite annoying in quests.

oh okay wow 550% noncrit? That is insane! Forums says that its actually 440% though but Im assuming you took into account the powerboost yes? In that case, I guess Timekiller is fully outclassed by riftwalker... wow I was not expecting that haha

    quote:

And how much damage does ascendant do per turn on average?

Roughly 400% per turn if the passive is maxed, with their standard and loopable 4-turn combo: The Staff - The Book 1 - The Scythe - The Wand
With your assumed 95 weapon damage and 33% crit, that's roughly 500 damage per turn, but that's on average as most of that damage comes from The Wand.

But the price they pay for having the best sustained damage of anything but DmK is that the most they can do on turn 1 is a 225% guaranteed crit, which isn't enough to kill most standard quest mobs by itself.

@pitties, what gear do you use to take your damage tests? I've got Cryptic (and I agree it's crazy good), and I figured I could run some damage tests with your setup.

At any rate, I consider it to be top-tier because it has both great damage and great defenses. You can loop Illusion - Illusionary Veil - Mental Torture (2 shields and a blind), while you also have a good heal and a standard stun for emergency situations.

the gear doesn't make a huge huge difference, but I use DmK items along with elemental unity and then just whatever accessories I have on hand (deathknight's amulet & ring).

As long as you use the soulforged sword, your damage should be pretty similar. I had a 35% crit rate with my setup btw.

@Sakurai: Anyways, so Ascendant is clearly superior to chronoZ in damage, but it has mana and health issues which ChronoZ doesn't. And unlike ascendant, chronoz actually has respectable first turn damage capabilities.

But I have one clarification to make. Your 500 calculation does not take into account player stats. If you were to actually go and test it with 200 int, the damage would be much higher! (DmK does 747.2 damage a turn with my setup and best damage dealing moves: Corruption+Lingering Doom followed by Blood Rite spam) However, DmK faces issues with hp if it spams blood rite, but the damage is usually enough to deal with any boss regardless. Still Ascendant comes close to DmK without having to sacrifice any hp.

Well, here's my damage tests for Cryptic then. I calculated the average damage per turn by taking the noncrit value and multiplying it by 1+[crit value]. Also, I think your calculation for crit damage is a bit unnecessarily complicated; just treat crit damage as the same amount in Boost, except for skills with additional or guaranteed crit chance.

With my gear: 64 Dex, 230 Luk, 35% Crit

    Unboosted (noncrit):

    Throw: 308
    Rapid Attack: 396
    Backstab: 280
Mind Crush: 196 + 5 turns of 35 Poison DPT
    Wild Daggers: 157
    Mental Torture: 168
Mental Assassination: 560-728 (depending on charges of Paranoia) (always crits, don't multiply this damage value)

With 5 stacks of Paranoia (25%) and Backstab (30%), your highest crit chance would be 90%. While also staying relatively untouched because of how crazy your defensive stats scale from your equipment at high levels.

yeah that is what I ended up doing in the end heh, I'm not that good at math sadly :P

So you only posted unboosted noncrits? What I did was I figured out a good damage rotation for max damage and used boosts to maximize the DPT. That would give better results.
