Since there's no class discussion thread I'll answer my own questions here for the benefit of others. I had some questions about DPS. As usual in AE games, the best defense is a good offense... These DPS numbers assume infinite mana, no passives, and don't account for attack animation speed. They do include spell charge time though. In other words, it's a rough guide. Warrior: Free skills for sustainable damage. A little utility. Note that most warrior skills (especially whirlwind) execute slowly, preventing AA damage and optimal skill looping (less damage overall).
41.671
28.75
23.125
9 (+8.89% damage) (multi-target)
Total: 111.66 (93.546 without whirlwind)
Special: 450
Mage: Has range and utility.
26.67
21.05
28.28 (+slow)
8.33 (+stun)
Total: 84.33
Special: 475
Rogue: Highest DPS, even when not optimized. Note that both Rogue's skills AND poison are somewhat unsustainable. (1st skill is low priority spirit dump, boot is important for offense/defense.)
20 (+1 poison)
11.25 (+4 poison)
16.67 (+weaken)
7.5 (converts poison to heavy poison)
Total: 55.42 (unsustainable)
Full poison: 74.67 (unsustainable)
Max AA + normal poison + boot: 100.67
Special: 250 (+8 poison and resets scorpion sting)
Guardian: Weak, even with max marks. Guardian Dragon is also the worst ultimate. Focus is worse than stun, too. Heal is nothing to write home about, since it uses mana, marks, heals less than potions, AND reduces your DPS even further.
32.5 (+1 mark)
22.5 (+3 marks)
21.95 (assuming 3x damage with 10 marks) (+focus)
- (heal)
Total: 76.95
Special: 400 (costs 200 mana!?) What exactly do the stats do? I'm not sure about crit and haste, but attack/armor multiplies your damage. A level 20 hero with full Dragon Berserker set and Darkest Night has 1029 attack. Simply equipping Akriloth's Fire blade will increase that to 1153, resulting in 12% more DPS.
