Oh. I just figured that a *2.2 GP cost supplanted the MC going into ele-compression, seeing as you're essentially paying for an MC twiceover when the "second" MC is moot. In which case, *2.1 makes more sense, but I suppose it's not worth the effort going into the database and updating all those items.

Running at least one compression shield is definitely a "must" if you wish to run CIT, but trouble is that every element has had shields with great MCs released by now. Even Fire and Light, which are relatively lacking.

Shop's currently still set to only allow the staff clan in. The quest itself was enjoyable, feels relaxing to go back to the classic AQ humor for the writing and the new dragon art was nice. Spoilering quest info:

Cutscene with Warlic that touches on the recent events with War and hints at possible future updates concerning the mysterious wastelands of the West, then four groups of 4 fights (I've seen ice minotaurs, ice snayls, fireshifters, heat shards, BlizZards, and gologowls so I recommend having fire, darkness, and harm weapons available), with a stat check between. DEX, STR, then LUK. Another cutscene involving some WolfRiders and the dragon pictured in the newsletter, who plans on destroying the ice walls for motives that currently seem related to expanding territory, then four battles with a WolfRider before the boss fight. The boss is an ice/wind dragon who uses an ice SP attack that can freeze you, and wind for the regular attacks.

Considering the elements of the boss and the stats used in the stat rollers, it seems that the set will indeed be ice/wind after all, and possibly focused more on warriors/rangers than mages.


I'll update this post when we get information on the shop and the first part's rewards.

EDIT: Kamui's fixed the shop- thanks Kam!- and I'm now redoing the quest.

The shop has 2 items- a Ranged ice spear called the Shattershard Glaive and two versions of a spell, called (Mystic/Mighty) Katabari Damage (A/B/C/D/E). The description of the spear seems to suggest that it has a damage lean, and it's been confirmed that it has a bloodblade-like effect, with the same cost and presumably the same boost. The spell inflicts defloss (-8.9 MRM for 4 rounds on a monster with 100% ice). The spell either uses MP and keys off INT, or uses SP and keys off STR, as has become the norm for Mystic/Mighty versions. I think I like this pattern, gives non-mages some nice options for spell slots that aren't just guests or heals. The letter after the spell's name depends on which tier it is- A for levels 5/15, B for 35/55, C 75/95, D 115/135, and E for 150.

I know DF lore and AQ lore are not connected but a lot of what was said here reminds me of stuff that happened in DF, especially Warlic and the Elements at war.

The reward is a ice ranged weapon and spell (comes in mp and ap variety). Haven't bought them, but it seems like the weapon saceifices a bit of hp for damage and the spell lowers the opponent's mrm.

Info on the items is in the second spoiler block of my post. And Kurtz, it certainly seems like the story is making a nod to Dragonfable. I expect it might echo DF in a few aspects, but there are already obvious differences in what happened- for one, we're now in Battleon instead of Falconreach.

Warlic hints at some great cataclysm that he couldn't stop without losing himself (could very well be the book 2 plot of DF where Warlic "died" after fighting the elements). That could be what destroyed Falconreach (which is to the west of Battleon).
Perhaps in AQ Warlic choose not to sacrifice himself (or fear what might come after with Wargoth) and so Falconreach and the lands surrounding it where wiped out (the expanse).

Boss actually uses ice and wind for both attacks, not one for Skill and one for normal.
PSA: The level 155 fire shifters use fire when they have more than 415 SP. Any chance we can have their SP bar fixed?

Yes! Yes, you did! As somebody who recently got back into dragonfable and binged the storylines of all three books, I'm incredibly pumped to find out what happened to Falconreach and the dragonlords.

I've said this before and I'll say this again, but huge kudos to Cray for fleshing out Lore, giving depth and history to the parts that were sorely lacking in it.


I also really liked the dialogue between Katabar and the Chosen. The humor's on point, and I won't deny that it's nice to get some recognition. Particularly funny is the idea of the dragon using flattery to delay the human - the irony of the role reversal is delicious.

Oh, and nice callback with "Great Cryozen's tail".

I'm super stoked to see AdventureQuest finally acknowledge the "oh yeah, Dragonfable used to be a prequel before we messed that up and retconned it" thing.

I mean that totally unironically, the game's been dodging that question for years.

There was a quest that showed how the timelines split. I think ?

I think DF explained that the timeline split had to do with some incident involving the Eternal Dragon of Time. It's never been explicitly acknowledged in AQ, to my knowledge.

The out-of-universe reason they retconned it was probably the realization that the timeline they'd established between both games didn't work at all. (The DF version of the Great Fire War compare to AQ is probably the earliest example I can think of.)
