As you may have noticed, this week's release was unfortunately delayed. Dove is having some severe pain issues with an impacted wisdom tooth, and is doing his best to schedule an appointment.

Unfortunately, we aren't sure when we'll be able to get things resolved with that (along with recovery time, etc).

For the sake of Dove's health and release quality, our schedule this month may have to be adjusted to make sure Dove is able to recover and get the rest he needs!

The normal mode Chickencow challenge will be added to the Arena at the Edge of Time at a later date, as well.

Also, we finally got the titular Fear Engine!

I wonder if the existence of the Fearspace means we'll be seeing an equivalent themed inn board to play on like Dreamspace although this time exploring battles or concepts the Hero explicitly fears.


I'm also curious about those images we saw that were clearly of Sirius' life or more specifically events or potential possibilities that cause him some semblance of fear. In the first image we see a man and woman presumably conversing with one another, in the next we see Sirius being coronated, and in the last we see Sirius grieving over a woman whose outline is pretty close to Khassandra's design. Based on this observation, the first image is either of Sirius' parents or Khassandra's parents. If it's the former then it's likely that Sirius fears the expectations put on him by his parents or worried that he might become them while he's put in power (given that he mentioned that lying was a specialty of his family and he didn't seem to like that trait one bit).

The second image of course would just mean he's terrified of being made king in the first place as evidenced by the fact that the Hypogenophobias, fear monsters that represent the fear of responsibility, are wearing the exact same crown that Sirius was about to have placed on his head in this image and the fact that they're also carrying royal scepters. There's also the fact that he made clear that him being a prince was unfortunate.

Lastly, the last image shows to us that deep down that he deeply fears losing Khassandra, not just to this fear fiasco but also at any point in time.

That is what I believe is happening if the first image was of Sirius' parents. This what I think might be happening if the first image was of Khassandra parents however and I warn you that it's a crazy theory. You see it seemed odd to me that one of the first things we learned about Sirius' family was something negative and not just negative but the issue here being lying. Until I remembered you can do a lot of damage with lies especially if you're in charge of an empire. Coupling this with the fact that Sirius really doesn't seem to want that crown beyond angst prince stuff, an idea began to form.

What if Sirius' and Khassandra's families weren't all that truly close and either directly or through some political maneuvering Sirius' parents had Khassandra's parents killed or got them killed by accident. The reason why Sirius is so afraid of becoming ruler of the empire is could still be because he's afraid he'd end up with his parents worse traits but also because now he'd be aware that he'd likely have to uphold an Empire that played a role in the deaths of someone close to him. He would be an even worse situation on throne though if his family did this politically because if that's the case then it likely means other noble families within the empire are likely doing the same and it would mean Sirius would have to constantly watch his back and stay on his toes just to survive or rule effectively. Which brings us to the dead Khassandra imagery. It still means he's afraid to lose her, as anyone would for a dearly beloved family member, but an extra layer would be added here because he'd be constantly terrified of her being placed in danger due to the political machinations of the empire and failing to protect her in his eyes would be the same as failing to protect or save her parents from his own family. This of course is a pretty out there idea but if it's true then it means Khassandra already knows what Sirius' family has done because she called them liars in the previous quest and while that could be referring something else it be pretty heartbreaking if she found out about all this and that's why she ran.

But that's just my thoughts on what might be happening there. There's also of course the matter of the Fear Engine being on full monster production now. I wonder if now that's unleashed we'll see those other fear monsters that were noted to have had their production ceased in the Tizheruk quest. Also didn't realize at first but much like the Warden Artifact the engine itself has a bound gear attached to it. Wonder what's that about.
