Dialogue *You meet with Katia near Edelia on Tkaanie; Katia is now wearing a Chaosweaver attire with Master Soulweaver's soullooms following her final exams in Edelia; she looks at you with great sight as they were Tomix's companion.* Katia: Ooooh... yeah. I can see what he saw in you. <Character>: Uh... <Character>: Beg your pardon? Katia: Nothing! Thank you for coming, <Character>, and on such short notice. I'm Katia! <Character>: Hello! <Character>: Nice to finally meet you! <Character>: You said in the letter that your hometown is afflicted by some sort of a disease? Could you, perhaps, elaborate? Katia: Someone much more knowledgeable will, I'm just the messenger! Please, follow me, hero. *You follow Katia to the intersection between Mortem and Edelia on the Tkaanie Path; you and Katia meet a weaver named Saga, who is wearing a headmaster attire similar to Danyel.* Katia: <Character>, may I introduce you to Saga! They are the new principal of Edelia and someone who finally has the guts to help Mortem! Saga: Greetings, hero. *You greet Saga with a questioning look.* <Character>: ...Hello. <Character>: Uh, why do you need me, then, if you already have the help? Katia: The more, the merrier! Saga: Please, Katia, allow me. Katia: O-of course! Saga: <Character>, what I'm doing isn't exactly... by the books. I am acting on my own. Saga: Going rogue, so to speak, abandoning the Weaver's Council's pitiful inaction. Saga: Mortem was, at one point, also my home, and it pains me to see its people suffer. <Character>: Right. <Character>: What does that have to do with me, exactly? Katia specifically requested my assistance. <Character>: Don't get me wrong, of course I'll help! <Character>: Just look at me, I'm a helper! <Character>: Thing is... why couldn't you do it, yourselves? Katia: Well, you see, we kind of need you to— Saga: Katia. Katia: Oh, sorry! Please, go ahead. Saga: As you see, it's just the two of us. Well, three now. All of this is not, strictly speaking, a sanctioned endeavour. Saga: Like I've said, I'm acting on my own. I'm going against the Weaver's Council decision... because I'll be casting a forbidden magick. *You question Saga's plan to use a forbidden magick.* <Character>: And that's... bad, yes? Saga: Positively extremely very not good, correct. Saga: Katia agreed to help me, because I have history with her family. Katia: What's left of it, anyway... *You and Saga sadly acknowledge the dwindling Katia's family-the Danao surname-following the deaths of Tomix and Danyel.* Saga: When I asked her if she could think of someone else who would be willing to "bend the rules", so to speak, she told me about you. Saga: I recognized your name right away. Who wouldn't. Saga: You've been rather naughty in Nieboheim. Saga: All over, really... and word has spread. <Character>: Naughty?! Saga: The Shapeless Gazette tends to exaggerate. "From zero, to hero, back to zero"... and whatnot. <Character>: ... Saga: Moving on, the forbidden magick. Saga: I was able to deconstruct and retranslate one of the forbidden spells that I came across, into something that will allow me... Saga: ...Us, rather... to physically enter the Plane of Elemental Spirits. Saga: Because that's where the souls of Mortem's people have been taken. Saga: Yes, taken. Saga: And held captive, most likely. Why, I do not know, but knowing the location is enough to put an end to this. Saga: What maladies Mortem is not a disease or an affliction. SomeONE, or someTHING, is deliberately gathering human souls... Saga: ...and storing them in the Plane of Elemental Spirits. <Character>: Oh... I just remembered something! Tomix told me that the human soul shouldn't remain in the Plane, or it won't be able to return to its body! <Character>: Some of the villagers' souls must have been there for a long time! How would we get them back? Saga: We will cross that bridge when we get to it. We ourselves won't be affected, thanks to the spell. Saga: And so... will you— <Character>: Oh, I am in! I was already willing to help, but now there's no way I'm backing out! What needs to be done? Saga: I'm glad to hear that! Saga: To set the forbidden spell up, a runic circle has to be drawn around the village, accompanied by focal points, which I already prepared. Saga: But... Saga: Umm... Katia: ... *Multiple question marks surround your head, indicating what Saga is trying to do.* Katia: That would mean harming household spirits, because they'd retaliate... *You question Saga's decision to harm household spirits in order to cast a forbidden magick.* <Character>: Okay? Saga: We can't do that! *You scream at Saga for the reason why you're here in the first place: harming household spirits.* <Character>: THAT'S what you need me for?! Saga: We simply cannot bring ourselves to harm our forest guardians... it would be sacrilege! Katia: But you could do that! Easily! Saga: We'll follow you as you clear the path, while I draw the circle and place the foci. <Character>: I'm... I'm questioning the morality of this. Doesn't this seem a little disrespectful? Saga: The last time you were here, you left a path of beaten-up household spirits. It is known throughout the country. *You blink repeatedly before smiling as you recall the events of Culture Shock.* <Character>: Oh yeah, I totally did that. <Character>: Let's go, then! *You fight various monsters as you draw a runic circle; after drawing the runic circle, Saga looks at it upon its completion.* Saga: And... there. Saga: Once I activate this, per my retranslation of the spell, a dome should engulf Mortem. Saga: If it does, that means the spell worked. And when we enter said dome, we should be in the general vicinity of where the stolen souls are... Saga: ...in the Plane of Elemental Spirits! <Character>: Should? Saga: This is my FIRST time deconstructing and retranslating a FORBIDDEN magick spell... found in a BANNED book! Saga: I may be a prodigy, but I'm quite literally creating brand new magicks here, so accidents MIGHT happen! <Character>: ... <Character>: Understandable. Saga: *Deep breath* *Saga touches the runic circle, activating the forbidden magick; the magick's activation creates a dome around Mortem, which causes a portal to the Plane of Elemental Spirits to appear; as a consequence of activating the forbidden magick, a part of Saga's hair turns white.* <Character>: It worked! Katia: Are you alright? Saga: ...Yes, Katia, I'm fine. <Character>: So, do we just... Saga: Enter, yes. <Character>: Understood. Keep close and stay behind me. *You, Katia, and Saga enter the Plane of Elemental Spirits; scene cuts to black.* Complete Quest Loot for DCs - opens Stolen Souls Loot for DCs shop.
