in one of my previous posts i did mention desire to experiment with new builds https://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=22424999
so after reading this post yesterday https://www.battleon.com/gamedesignnotes/Stat-Overhaul-Details-9446 ,
i did a get a better understanding of the stats , however 1 question still remains at least for me
so given that ranged weapons damage grow in damage with each turn
if i want to do a build with only ranged weapons which means bows AND spear/glaive type
that build meaning 250 dex luck and int/cha , do the spears lose damage cuz of 0 str ?

They do not. Only main stat that matters is dexterity. Strength is not involved here anymore.

Hi there!

Firstly, the post you linked is outdated. I detailed the most recent effects of DEX in a pending forum guide. The tl;dr of that for DEX is:
  • Stat damage to Ranged weapons/skills/etc.
  • Stat accuracy to Ranged weapons/skills/etc.
  • Adaptation: The game tracks whether you hit or miss the monster with a Ranged attack, and then adjusts your accuracy lean according to the number of times you hit and miss. The formula is quite complicated, but look at the guide if you're interested. The number of hits and misses is tracked throughout the battle and it's modified on each hit. This means your damage/accuracy are constantly being adjusted. The takeaway message is: the more you hit, the less accurate you become and higher damage you deal. The more you miss, the more accurate you become and lower damage you deal.
  • Style Bonus: All weapon attacks gain +4.25 BtH (so they're more accurate). Additionally, you gain a boost to damage dependent on the chance of your weapon using a special. It scales from 0 to 100%. Weapons without a special get no boost; weapons that always use specials (like bows) deal +15%. The formula and explanation can be found on the guide.

You can absolutely run a build with bows and spears. The problem is those weapon types are suited to different playstyles. Bows/other weapons that use specials are independent of armour lean. This means FO won't boost them (and FD won't reduce their damage...). Spears, by comparison, normally don't have high chances of a weapon special, and regular weapon attacks do follow armour lean (which FO benefits).

As @Aura Knight said, you also don't need STR for Ranged weapons. They just scale on DEX.
