Liz Vicious -> That's it for me. (7/24/2011 7:27:29)

I've not played for a while. So, I thought I would come on today for a few matches. Got told to shut up, swore at and had a player attempt to offer me varium. All from saying 'Hello' In 1v1.
So, moved to a a few 2v2 games and suffered more players abusing and generally being unpleasant to each other. So I announced mid match that I had just had enough of this game left and logged out.

So that's it for me, Which is a shame. Been here since the founder phase but, I've got better things to do with my time then log into a game and witness the attitude of its present community. A majority of players who joined when I did and were are on my friends list are no longer playing so, now I think I will be joining them. Yes, you have seen posts such as this many times and, It's not a critic of the game. Just thought I would share this with you. If its of any interest to anyone. I will still visit the forum from time to time and contribute my thoughts.

LunarWarlord -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 7:34:18)

The community is quite rude now and days. They will flame any one including staff members. Although I know this is going to get deleted. U agree. It's way too many scammers. and Flaming.

T.600 -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 7:40:02)

I feel very disheartened that such a great, legendary player such as yourself would be leaving this game due to the concurrent issues in this game. The younger community that we have now is probably the cause of this name calling, although it could be due to frustration from losses that can occur due to the big varium to non-varium gap, it could even be due to the huge inflation of prices in Epicduel. All of these issues result in the name-calling and scam attempts.

Is it the arrogance of the devs? Is this game becoming too massive for them to handle now? Or do they just not realise the problems that we have in Epicduel. Anyway, I hope you enjoy doing those 'better things' in your life :). I have found myself playing less and less of Epicduel, and I've discovered much greater AE games such as; AQW, AQ, DF and HS. I especially adore how much you can get with those one-time payments, they sound great and of course there's consistent updates and the staff inform the players of everything that's going on. I'm not saying that Epicduel is a terrible game, but it's certainly an understaffed game with many flaws. I hope that Epicduel will improve in the future because the concept of the game is great, and it was heading in the right direction at some point in time (beta :P).

That's all I have to say, we can only wait for things to improve.

The Shadow Dragon -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 7:43:39)

The EpicDuel you knew is long gone mate. This is the dark era, we have to pay, and there are loads of inmature people in it.

MirageD -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 7:43:59)

sorry to see you go liz :(...you will be missed

LunarWarlord -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 7:46:14)

EpicDuel is at war. The Devs. vs. the Players. So far we are loseing, Which is why we are in the dark era.

T.600 -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 7:47:55)

@above: I hate to compare it to this, but we are the people living in a communist society and the devs are the government. They do what is best for the 'majority' of the community.

LunarWarlord -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 7:51:12)

I have never thought about it like that. Very true. Players are quitting day by day. I've been seeing many threads just like the one. I hope one day this game will see brightness again.

T.600 -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 7:52:36)

Atleast there's an escape :D.

hauki -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 7:54:15)

i wish devs could add ignore button in 2vs2 so u cant see messages from player u have ignored

Liz Vicious -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 8:11:00)

I've been logging on less and less for the reasons I mentioned above. It was when I sat back earlier today watching the interaction between players whilst waiting my turn in a 2v2 having a horrible Déjà vu moment that I thought-that's it I've had enough. Jaded, is essentially the feeling I was having. That's not the feeling your supposed to be having when playing an online game is it?
As i said before, this is a personal perspective and, not a comment on the game as a whole. It's just what I feel. I'm a teacher and on my summer holidays now. The first of the many music festivals I've planned to go to over the summer start next weekend :) So a long fun summer is planned for Liz's pleasure :) I still intend to drop in on the forum every now and then. Who knows, maybe at some point I might dust of my Rixty Ripper and play again. Being a teacher it's probably the Juvenile behavior I see every day at work echoed here that annoys me. It's like taking my work home with me........This won't bother younger players so much. Ironically, they won't even be aware of what there doing or saying. These were all considerations I was critically aware of being an older player In a young persons community but, hey, there you go.

MrBones -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 8:18:56)

Hey what can you do.. It is a kids game Liz. As an adult like you, I wish the community would be more mature.

I understand your point of view, especially because of your line of work.

We had schoolyard bullys back in my days, now they are cyberbullys. Things never changed.

BTW, sorry for the misspelling mrs. teacher :) english is not my first language.

hauki -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 8:27:48)

lol Dbag u wish this community would be more mature? i was fighting against you in 2vs2 and u called ur partner noob.

Luna_moonraider -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 8:36:48)

The devs do not care bout 2v2 all the care bout is 1v1 the balance in 2v2 is crap partners are mostly either noobs or afk. partners keep on poofing and doing some magic trick called pressing the refresh button or dcing. and u can always off the chat log button and just ignore whatever any1 says. feel srry that u had to see the bad side of 2v2 sigh there is a good side of 2v2. try doing some rigged 2v2 they fun and are way better than 2v2 with rude people. the devs even deleted a thread which talks about 2v2 balance idk y are they avoiding the 2v2 balance or are they just plain ignoring us 2v2er.

hauki -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 8:41:45)

thats pretty hard to ignore trashtalk and some other stuff in 2vs2 when u need to concentrate to not skip ur turn but it doesnt bother me much, after all we are all tough guys in internet [;)] lol

MrBones -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 8:42:10)

quote:

lol Dbag u wish this community would be more mature? i was fighting against you in 2vs2 and u called ur partner noob.

Well that is always nice being quote out of context. Was my partner insulting me or other players ? Was he making mistakes after mistakes, refusing my help ? What is your handle name ? I will try to remeber what happened exactly.

@LUNA: Rigged 2vs2 is the way to go if you want to have fun. Now that Beastmo's chat is back, we will have fun

Luna_moonraider -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 8:49:39)

@hauki

i find it easy to ignore trashtalkers in 2v2 but having an ignore button might some how stop me from telling my super duper clueless partner what to do. he might just click the ignore button when i m telling him my strategy to win the 2v2. Now remember in 2v2 it is teamwork that makes u win not individuals which care bout themselves and themselves only.

hauki -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 9:11:08)

Luna_moonraider

thats true :/ needs gestation

Xendran -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 9:21:44)

Nothing has been done about the trash talkers in the past, and nothing will be done about it with the way things are going currently.

hauki -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 9:29:44)

Xendran

trying to remove trash talkers is mission impossible, its curse of every morpg

Fay Beeee -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 9:31:40)

Sorry Liz
Always had fun as you slaughtered me. LOL

I also wish there was an 'Ignore Button'. I am sure some would use it to shut me up, because I still talk too much :)

I hope you will change your mind. :)
(Always the optimist)

Your friend

Fay

Buffy A. Summers -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 9:39:10)

Sorry To See You Go Liz.

I Always Enjoyed Facing You In 2vs2 On My Main And Many Of My Alts.

Sadly, They Do Very Little To "Police" The Verbal Abuse And Immaturity That Occurs In Battle.

But...

Enjoy Those Music Festivals! Sounds Fun! :)

~ Buffy

Wraith -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 10:11:09)

Yea lol, its hard to do 20 battles without getting yelled at. At least some people like Master Volcon are nice and don't say Hacker when you block.

Fatal Impact -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 10:13:11)

Dont listen to them!

They all are hackers O_o

Cinderella -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 11:00:39)

Liz- I apologize personally for your EpicDuel experience not living up to your standards. While I try to punish those who break the rules (swear at you, scam you, etc.) I cannot be everywhere at once to prevent it, and for that I apologize sincerely. I do understand the need to get away from the immaturity of students during the summer (my mom is an elementary school teacher). As a teacher, I'm sure you can sympathize with my situation- some children do not improve their behavior no matter how many times they are punished, and even when I issue chat locks and bans, they can always make a new character. And until I find them, there's little I can do about it.

I apologize from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has ever been trash talked, sworn at, scammed, or insulted in-game. I truly wish I could do more to prevent all of this from happening.

It was Jean-Paul Sarte who said "hell is other people". If your relationship with another person is poison- through their actions or your own- having to interact with them will be hell. Correlated to that is the theory presented by Mike Krahulik of Penny Arcade (famous webcomic, but definitely 13+): that a normal person, presented with anonymity and an audience, will degrade into the most foul behavior known to man- essentially poisoning the waters of our game. These people WANT to make everybody else quit, and ruin the experience for everybody else. Not because they hate the game, or hate you, or anything like that. But because they want to destroy for the sake of destruction. And it pains me whenever a reasonable, mature, person leaves the game because that's one less bright spot in my life.
