Ninja Update
[image]http://epicduel.artix.com/images/icon/Cinderella_ED-DN_2011.jpg[/image]
Ahoy there, EpicDuelists! By now I’m sure you’ve all read Nightwraith’s and Artix’s recaps of Dragon*Con (if not, go read them now!) If you’re a loser like me and didn’t get to go, there’s always next year!

But now here’s a bit about the ninja update that just happened!

Interface changes

You may have noticed that some things look different in game- for example the home editor buttons got a lot more shiny (oooh... shiny!). This is reflective of general changes to the interface system. We’ve been improving the way that the buttons and interfaces in EpicDuel work in order to make them more streamlined. Another example is the Inventory screens, which were improved over the weekend.

Balance Changes

Mages should find that their builds are more versatile now, and sword-wielding mages no longer have such a big percentage of their skill trees blocked off. Plasma Rain and Bludgeon no longer require staffs. This should prove to be a significant buff to the mage classes.

Back to the Cave!

Since DragonCon is over, the Draconic weapons will be leaving the game! We left them in a little while longer, since there was a delay in the last update (we got delayed last time, but we’re early this week? MADNESS!). The Dragon and Back to School weapons will remain.

Everyone who purchased a weapon qualifying them for a Dragon Master achievement will also receive this valuable achievement!

Performance Updates

Titan’s still on the warpath against junk code and finding ways to make the Server Hamsters less lethargic, so players should experience a more streamlined performance (although yelling “FIX THE LAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGG” at me is still unlikely to make the server hamsters move faster. They’re kind of contrary like that.)

Welcome Hudelf!

I’d like to take this opportunity to formally welcome Hudelf to the EpicDuel staff! Hudelf is joining our little team as a programmer. Let’s all wish him a warm welcome and a smooth transition! Remember, he's still an apprentice, but he's learning quickly the arts of code sorcery from Titan!

Insect Fact of the Week: Butts!

This week, we’re going to learn about some of the most interesting butts in the Class Insecta: Fireflies!

Fireflies (or Lightning Bugs) are members of the family Lamprydiae in the order Coleoptera. This means that they are neither bugs nor flies, but beetles! They’re called Lightning bugs or fireflies due to the fact that their butts glow.

Fireflies have a set of light-emitting organs on the lower abdomen, in which a bioluminescent chemical process takes place. The light produced is a cold light- it contains no heat/infrared frequencies. The glow serves as a defensive mechanism for larvae and as a means of communication for adults. This is pretty unique among insect species- most mating signals are mediated by scent, but fireflies use visual communication. Some species have very distinctive courtship signals, where the male signals to a female, and she will glow in response to him. However, females of some fireflies will mimic the response of females of other species to lure males, who they will then eat. Nom.

TurkishIncubus -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 15:20:31)

i dont understand what is the purpose of , "sword or staff" required skills on TM-BM they cant use club or claws so simply write "None"

PivotalDisorder -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 15:43:23)

@Turkish: Maybe they have future plans for skill changes. seems weird to me too though.

MirageD -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 16:04:33)

it think the release is ok...doesn't seem to add much....but i'm sure there must have been more "behind the scenes" things....unfortunately...the lag still seems to be there..the new mage animations are cool

don't forget to check your settings....they re-set them in this release

Joe10112 -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 16:05:44)

So updates in Tech Mages but not in any others? Sorry TM, but all I care about is if something happens to Cyber or Tac Merc. Cyber up and Tac Merc down...

PumKing -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 16:14:05)

nerf for TLM, speciffically removing hybrid armor for physical shield

buffing CH/once agin nerfing the TLM by flat out switching the reroute of TLM with the stacitc charge of CH

buffing the TM, by switching the position of malf with technician, that stuff needs to be better than 3rd teir when smoke is first tier considering when you have lower dex you have lower def, have lower chance to connect hit, and have greater chance of being hit

buff the BM, remove intimidate and put up reflex boost, then reput assimilation down in the vacant fourth teir

Wraith -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 16:28:16)

^Agreed.

For most inventive mage builds (ex. my 140 HP one, 154 HP one, 180 HP one (Yea that was tough, meeting reqs was hard, switched out after a few seconds)) you don't need technician, Assault Bot fixes it.

TurkishIncubus -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 16:30:30)

@PumKing
man if you buff others after nerfing TLM the game still be unbalanced , also TM and BM doesnt require any buff

PumKing -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 16:39:55)

@turkish

1. tech mage does need the buff, how is it fair or even balanced for malf to be 3rd teir and smoke 1st eir, please think about this, I have said it twice (see last post, and infact listed all the things that lower dex does besides lowering effectivness of skills that are buffed by it as they are few and far between)

2. Of course BM needs a buff, but I'm not talking a major thing here, my suggestion is totally resonable, every BM would benifit from reflex up to third teir, seriously, a buff for 4th teir, that's just bogus (when you don't have hybrid armor which can switch what it buffs anyway)

not to mention how with out assim they are the only class with no mp steal, so what evs there as you don't seem to care much for balance, considering you aparently think that both of my suggestions for ballancing out the TLMs were completely unacceptable and did not agreee to either

TurkishIncubus -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 16:51:41)

@PumKing

1. Bludgeon = 28% requires 10 energy , Double strike =23% requires 15 energy , is this fair?

Well i dont care , if Mods decide to buff TM and BM than i love to be Oped , but in my opinion CH and BH are the ones that require buff.

Lets dont turn this thread to balance discussion.

PumKing -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 16:59:01)

@turkish, well considering that bludgeon is like the only physical skill that they have, it's pretty fair, but lets now compare bludeon(the ONE physical skill they have) then compare it to, oh I don't know maul which for 12 mp lvl one ignores a 20% def and then gets an increased chance to stun, oh or better yet compare it to berserk, oh, what's that, you don't like me showing the flaws in you're tunnel vision logic? u mad *troll face*

Joe10112 -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 17:01:17)

Man, I was thinking...

CH needs "Recharge", a passive like Blood Lust but adds energy instead of HP.

Ashari said that CH was going to get a new passive. Yay! I mean, Cyber is all about energy right?

TurkishIncubus -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 17:03:34)

@PumKing
yeah ,yeah , you are right just calm down :S

Thylek Shran -> RE: September 8th 2011 - Update (9/8/2011 17:04:41)

Thats a nice and long needed balance update and adds
more build options for Tech Mages. [:)]
