I see you're continueing your story into the game. *cracks knuckles* Okay, let's begin!

quote:

upon his back rested a young woman and a small Moglin

.... Young?

quote:

damage caused by the gorillaphant's ruthless horns.

tusks

quote:

A knight had revealed the stronghold's name to him in good faith

This sounds a bit as if Oaklore Keep is something secret.

quote:

The forest of Surewould has been unreasonable

To my knowledge, Surewould lies to the east of Falconreach. Across the river that separates the keep with town.

quote:

How is it that they hair turned those colors?"

I'm not sure what you're going for here.

quote:

Go now and assist Lady Celestia!

RPG-logic kicks in again, I see.

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (11/26/2011 7:03:18)

Faerdin does not know of Oaklore Keep (Making it something of a secret to him), nor does he know that Lady Celestia is really older than she appears.. he still has yet to discover that last part. ^_^
Thank you for your assistance, Dwelling Dragonlord; you're helping me fix all of the little details that bug me when they're wrong. Does the forest near Oaklore have a name?

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (11/26/2011 7:19:12)

Oaklore forest (as per described in the book in the Falconreach Town Hall), as the tree is what gave the forest it's name.

Shadow Ravena -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (11/26/2011 18:11:28)

Yay, more of this story! This was one of my favorites from the writing contest, I'm glad your continuing it.
So far its pretty good. A bit flowery style, but not excessive (not that I'm complaining ;) ). An interesting take on a story we all know- though, why does the captian of Moonridge have trouble with the gorrilapant? Was he just weak? And how does he know Rolith and not Oaklore Keep?
Besides that, good start!

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (11/27/2011 0:05:35)

If it makes sense, I want the normally weak monsters of Dragonfable's story to appear as formidable as they possibly can. Though we think of them as the nooby monsters that we fought ages ago, gorillaphants would be absolute terror if they existed in real life. And after all, didn't we all struggle to defeat that gorillaphant in the beginning of the game? ^_^
As for Rolith, Faerdin only knows the Captain's name. He overheard it when one of the people who had escorted him to Oaklore Keep addressed Rolith. I'm rather relieved that you and Gingkage have been enjoying my writing, Shadow; I wasn't too sure of how I was doing until I saw your comment!

Helixi -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (11/27/2011 14:02:22)

It's general practise to double space paragraphs; it's hurts the reader's eyes less. xD

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (11/27/2011 15:32:44)

Spaced out the paragraphs; sorry if I've been hurting your eyes.. Dx

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (12/20/2011 17:50:15)

After quite some time, Chapter 3 has finally been completed! Anyone who wishes to read it may do so now. ^_^

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (12/20/2011 18:05:13)

quote:

leaving in their wake a certain calm amongst the other bandits as their initial feelings of hopelessness dissipated.

calmth

Is Faerdin planning to romance Lady Celestia? It sure looks like it.

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (12/20/2011 18:29:35)

Had he been single before the events that took place in Moonridge, perhaps. However, there is a certain someone who shall refuse to rest until Faerdin is safely returned home. In addition, Faerdin will be far too distracted by his destiny to think of such things.

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (2/3/2012 3:29:14)

After a while of neglecting this story, I have finally finished Chapter Four. I wrote all of this in a single night and I am very tired, so forgive me if there are a considerable amount of errors.

Helixi -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (2/3/2012 5:17:08)

I love the update. :D I'll come back later and read it in more detail.

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (2/6/2012 18:09:57)

Chapter 5 is up! This one is a little shorter than the others I've written, but its main purpose is to introduce Faerdin and the readers to Falconreach.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (2/6/2012 18:16:55)

I sense an ArchKnight beacon black as the night, cold as steel and swift as the wind that carries it.

Glais -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (3/8/2012 3:32:16)

Read chapter 1, liking it a lot so far. You've done a great job of describing the setting and such. Now I just wonder what happened to warp Faerdin into "The Cliff."
Anyways, seems great so far, the rest should be interesting.

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (3/11/2012 19:48:38)

@glaisaurus: There was some intervention by a watchful guardian.
Chapter Six is finally up! In this Chapter, you will finally see some events from the perspective of a certain prince.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (3/14/2012 9:03:41)

Ash shouldn't be so harsh on Faerdin, even King Alteon doesn't know his most loyal knight has defected and is destroying his kingdom along with the rest of Lore.

Anyway, the story is coming along nicely.

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (3/14/2012 19:29:47)

Ash isn't necessarily being harsh; he's just a little incredulous and expects someone like Faerdin to be aware of Sepulchure. ^_^

Glais -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (4/6/2012 3:09:00)

Read Chapter 2, everything is shaping up nicely. While it is a recount of DF's story, it adds enough detail to hold my interest, can't wait to read the rest, so many stories though...

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (5/6/2012 2:32:42)

I've changed things up in this thread in order to accommodate a new story I am writing. Feel free to comment if you wish!

nield -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (5/6/2012 2:43:41)

Hmm... I cannot help but feel you meant to write prologue instead of epilogue, as one does not start one's story with the end. I shall endeavour to bring to light all tyops I find.

quote:

Once he neared the very bottom, he leaped down
Grammar of the English language is exceedingly complicated, so this is an understandable mistake. However, the true form of the word at this point is leapt.

You paint an intruiging picture, Faerdin. I shall look on with calm enjoyment, I do believe.

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (5/6/2012 3:03:17)

With the help of a certain Gingkage, I had actually caught that a few moments after I posted my story. My drowsiness caused me to write "Epilogue" instead of "Prologue." Maybe my brain just thinks that word sounds fancier and leaped for the chance to use it. This is what I get for beginning a story at midnight. xD
Thank you for the typo correction! It's a pleasure to know my writing has caught a little attention this early on.

Gingkage -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (5/6/2012 3:16:34)

Fae, you're going to make me blush. :P I didn't do that much. And it was an honest mistake. I'm pretty sure anyone could have done it when tired. I do have a question, however. Is Faerdin actually an Elf? And how is this language instinctive? Okay, so that was two questions, but it would be interesting to know both facts.

Faerdin -> RE: (DF) Faerdin, or The Shadow of Ignorance Discussion Thread (5/6/2012 3:22:47)

Indeed, he is. Which kind of elf Faerdin is and why he has been seperated from his family will be revealed later on, however. o;
As for his language, elves (At least in my story) naturally know their language. It is partly because they have a deeper connection to their language and to nature than humans do. Essentially, the instinct to express themselves and communicate with the world around them allows elves to use their language much earlier than humans do.

Edit: Must have been tired when I wrote this. Faerdin is an elf, but only partly. He is half human, half elf.
