Certainly not, they follow a different timeline continuity altogether and ever since the Phone booth incident DF and AQ's timelines have been further split. AQW is a separate continuity altogether, an amalgam of the three original games, it combines elements of all three games and takes parts of their storylines as foundations and building upon those.

Guise, guise
here's how we fix this.
1. Make the AE team finish the continuity-friendly world map
2. ???
3. profit.

At the moment, Orodalf's map is as complete as the players can make them and I don't think completing the map is a priority at this very moment. Although it would be a welcome change, I'm sure.

I myself would love to know where the town of Barrowdell is/was located. (Mentioned in the quest "The AntiGuardian".)

Is there a hint as to where it's general location is or what other towns or landmarks are located near it? From memory, I don't recall Ghin's backstory as specifically mentioning the exact or general location of his town of birth/origin.

Not sure if this is any help, but here's the reconstructed map from Cutscene 3 from AQ Truphma War Finale.

Click.

The only iffy parts are the Bottom Left white island and the bottom middle curl of the green island east of the white island. Those I had to estimate a little as I couldn't get enough screenshots showing where they connected.

@James Lu: There isn't any, the fact there was a Guardian Tower makes it quite a serious matter.

@Dragoon23: Please tell me that is mirror-vision.

On another note, the team needs to put the Temple of Hope back on the map where it belongs.

What do you mean by mirror vision?

I took multiple screenshots during the 3rd cutscene of Building Truphma and just pasted them all together. I didn't flip the image.

@Dragoon23: In dragonfable and AQW, the "dragonhead" looks to the west. In your picture it looks to the east.

On the other hand, in many cutscenes (DF catapult explosion) the vision appears to be flipped though.

Oh well, here's a Flipped version also.

Odd that WF is showing mirror of AQ, yet the unflipped AQ map matches WF.

Right... so that means Ghin got rid of the second-last remaining Guardian Tower, unless Willowshire came after.

Should the Middle Isles be updated with the new locations, since the current expanded map is canonically incorrect.

Still I knew of the power of the Derenian special forces, I had seen Commander Delnar lead the Royal Guard some years prior at the battle of Casomar which spelled the end of the conflict between our two nations.

Another location for the global map by ArchMagus Orodalf, perhaps?

A little bit more detailed would the location of Oragh Swamp.

quote:

Nilia: Thanks for meeting me here. I knew I could trust you... Listen, there is someone called Goborah that you need to see. She's in the Oragh Swamp...
Nilia: ...in the lowlands between the Dwarfhold Mountains and GreenGuard Forest. She knows where this insidious "ZardMaster" is.

That sounds like it would be located west or east of the Crossroads.

I added the Veil and surrounding features. Sorry for the weird northern border, but... there isn't one in-game. So I drew a wonky horizontal line.

I also killed some of the non-locations on the map and replaced them with actual location names. (e.g., "Trophy Hunt" is now "Fenn's Camp")

EDIT: ... Whoops. Imageshack has a weird feature.

It seems I need to update the first post. I hadn't realized it was quite this out of date. I've seen that particular version of the map before, but I never did add it to the first post. Additionally, it seems I forgot to put in the first post that maps of DF and AQW are unfortunately not helpful, at all. What we've seen of the northwest portion of Battleonia, the continent, in AQ does not match up at all with the DF/AQW map. A different map was used for the planetary views in AQ and WarpForce, which establishes in the canon itself that the AQ/WF map and the DF/AQW map are different.

I'll update the first post. Thank you for reminding me of that new map version.

This seems like a relevant bit of information, Tomix is(well at the time of this post anyway...) working on a new DF map giving it to us piece by piece, quite litterally and people are working on it on this thread as well as on twitter it sounds like.

As if today, the map is finished. It reveals the entirety of the Dragon Headed Continent and an entirely new continent, heretofore undiscussed in any AE game, which is situated to the west of said dragon head, and presumably includes Tomix's home: Mortem.
Here is a link to the finished map.

What a sheer irony.

That dragon fable map looks very similar to the aqw one, With one detail i should note.

The left hand side looks like a giant. Claw! Now that's awesome.

@Dnw: That's because the continent of Battleonia is the same throughout all the games, the other continents may vary, but Battleonia is essentially the same.

EDIT: DF also has a new map: http://cms.battleon.com/df/images/MapaLore.jpg

Link to the Design Note: http://www.dragonfable.com/gamedesignnotes/new-map-4260

EDIT2: I've cropped the AQ, DF and AQW maps to include the bits of Battleonia which I was referring to:

http://imgur.com/AlYSpQl - DF
http://imgur.com/lZHHKlK - AQW
http://imgur.com/32d8aCT - AQ

As you can see, the fundamental layout is similar.

It was confirmed by the staff that AQW and DF share a map design. There could be one reason grounded in game lore for the similar layout, yet divergent designs of AQ's Battleonia and DF's Battleonia and that could be because of the timeline split among other things.

"New map of DF:" links to the AQW map, you should change it to "Map of AQW:"

To the main post you should also add the Map of DF, this image

Where would No Man's Land be? and how about Rennd and Storm fallen? I feel like a map of the west would be really awesome. But the updated map right now is amazing, how did you guys figure out the northern continents?

@shadow1531: What we know for a fact is that Stormfallen lies in the Thyranees mountain chain in the southwest of Battleonia. Rennd lies as a border between Stormfallen and Battleon, preventing the former to march on the latter.

As for No Man's Land, well that is a bit more difficult matter to assess. This quest mentions the scar to be west of Darkovia.

quote:

ORIGINAL: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=17498115

Grink: All that USED to be west of Darkovia is different than it used to be... The scar the Devourer left changed the land around it. The Obelisk is in the No Man's Land now...

The difficulties arise when you need to take into account the swaths of barren wasteland that are part of the west and which begin beyond Greenguard.

quote:

ORIGINAL: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=20370007

«You»: Ramleons!
Eukara: Interesting... Being half serpent and possessing such large paws, a desert wasteland seems more suited to a Ramleon than a forest.
«You»: Those seem to be rushing off towards Greenguard Forest, though...

I'm just going to put in my two cents here.

It's been a while since I've played the games, but I know this for certain: The DF and AQW maps are NOT connected to each other. The placement of Doomwood, Swordhaven, and Battleon show that the maps are completely different.

On the other hand, stretching the DF map down will allow you to see the same structure from Doomwood down to Battleon and Swordhaven in both BO and DF. Swordhaven is west of Battleon, like it's supposed to be, is southwest of Doomwood, like it's supposed be, etc.

This being said, the bottom of DF's map is cut off while the top and left of BO's map is cut off.

What we can assume here is that DF's map mostly represents the North of that continent, BO's map mostly represents the Southeast of that continent, and the Southwest of the continent is unknown.

While AQW definitely has the West of the continent showing the Sandsea, Volcano, etc, the fact that AQW's locations are placed extremely differently from DF's and BO's shows that the AQW map cannot be trusted.

Please note that the MQ and AQW maps are canonically stated to be different from DF's and BO's since MQ is The Universe V1, DF and BO are Alternate Timelines of The Universe V2, and AQW is part of The Universe V3.

So while DF and BO are on different timelines, they share a nearly identical map due to being part of the same version of the universe, while AQW and MQ have their own versions.

I hope this helps and clears up any confusion. :)
