A function does exist where you can respond to a specific post without manually adding quote tags, in any case. If you Reply to a specific post by clicking this button in the top right-hand corner of a post: , rather than using the Post Reply button when viewing a thread, you can quote the original post that you'd like to respond to; there's a "Quote original" button in the Reply to Message window, under color and next to the Privacy Policy link. This method, as stated above, helps cut down on huge quote pyramids, while also carrying over any coding the first member may have included in a post, which is sometimes useful. I can't say I quite agree with a no nesting functionality, as sometimes it's important to have that ability.
