It's been a long time since I last posted here, so let's reopen shop with something light. This time, it's a short story, inspired by some turns of event in my RL.

The Wanderer's Quest

Now, I know that this probably isn't all that good, and I probably hit like several dozen cliches in the book while writing it. But I had great fun with it, and I hope you would enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy your stay.

Is this some sort of allegory to a certain someone's life in the past year and a half? Anyway, it's pretty heavy on philosophical matters. It is about existentialism, is it not? Anyway, I loved how you built the world in just one, though lengthy, post. Reminds me of one of my favorite anime series, Sora no Woto. Mankind destroying himself and throwing back technology to the dark ages, the planet is a huge wasteland, little fragments of the past litter the world, and the past is nothing but an afwul nightmare than the new generation would rather forget.

It's somehow too short though, but I think that was the point anyway.

Also, for some reason, listening to this made everything (especially the scene with the 'woman', like a certain fateful meeting eh?) even more touching.

Extremely late reply is extremely late.

Yeah, this story is some sort of allegory to the vagaries of my (internet) life from early September until the time it was written. Suffice to say I had gone through a number of revelations and discoveries in that time span on the subject of ethics, morality, aesthetics and the like. So in other words this story is "Philosophy + Self-Discoveries + Beer"

Unfortunately, any similarities to Voice of the Sky is entirely coincidental. To be absolutely honest, this is the first time I heard of that anime.

Thank again, LK. My works are kinda sorta likely to be left unread to gather the dust regardless of where I put it, so I appreciate that comment.

and then some?

His soles left their marks all across the uncharted sands of the furthest ends of the wastes.

farthest (I too once failed to see the difference, furthest is there for something you cannot physically reach, poorly put.)

I don't think this is correct.

Well then, after reading your story I cannot do anything else than welcoming you to my wasteland.

Ah, these errors must have slipped my eyes somehow. Thanks for bringing them to my attention.

Anyway, I must inform you that the wasteland is not the point of this story. Theoretically, the framework of this story could have been set literally everywhere and the message it is supposed to convey remains the same. Which makes sense, since it is an event in an online forum that inspired me to write this

Speaking of wastelands.

Replace the swords with literature.

Admit it, if you died and went to the throne of heroes you'd bear the same fate as EMIYA.

A hero with no identity, who was betrayed by his ideals during his youth.

Your reality marble would be a wasteland similar to what the Wanderer in your story travels but is littered with the countless works that you penned.

At least hey, you get to have an awesome theme song that gets remixed over a thousand times. hehe
