Yes, any version of the items will work, however the Helm and Cape must be equipped in order for the 75% boost to activate (weapon can be shown as with other weapon specials to get 40% boost), so purchasing the best version of those for your level would be recommended unless you really don't need the extra stats. As per the DoomKnight armor entry; quote:
The base damage of this class's skills is scaled to your level, using the formula 1+(2*Level/100). Scaling is floored at 100% damage and will reach 280% damage at the maximum level of 90. At Level 90, DoomKnight's skills do 2.8x more damage than their listed value. With maximum DragonKnight boost, skills do 1.75x more damage than their listed value (against Dragons only). This boost overrides the DoomKnight's boost, thus losing 1.05 from its damage multiplier at level 90. For example, for a skill that would deal 200 damage, it would deal 350 damage for a DoomKnight with full DragonKnight gear, yet it would deal 560 damage for a DoomKnight without any DragonKnight gear (not taking any other gear/stats etc. into account). For what it's worth, the threshold for the DragonKnight gear to still be viable with DoomKnight is Level 37; after this point it becomes a damage reduction. In general the set benefits the majority of classes against Dragons, and is particularly beneficial to the DragonSlayer class, which has a bunch of other anti-Dragon mechanics that can work alongside the set. EDIT: I have since been informed that this is no longer the case; the DragonKnight boost does multiply as well as the DoomKnight boost, setting up for some rather large damage against Dragons with DoomKnight. I'm not sure when this was changed/fixed, but I will update those Pedia entries to reflect their current mechanics. Thanks for the prompt!
