Frostval 2021 Gift Delivery - The King of Rats and Tatters

Despite the trouble caused by the Royal Ratinue's plot against Famine, the gift delivery is well underway when you reach Frostvale with your new allies. Unfortunately, you were right to expect trouble: Ragged and humiliated, the former King BURP doesn't realize the folly of toying with certain powers... And doesn't care.

This year's delivery war may look a little different as we have added multiple houses to visit plus other various graphical updates to make deliveries more fun and festive!

We just had the Z-Guantlets back back in September. Not that I am against them returning yet again (they should) because of No Way Home (it was a great movie!). Who knows.

Anyways, I'm interested in seeing how long this war is going to last. This is probably going to be faster than the usual delivery wars which usually last a month because of the extra characters and thus estates that will boost the speed of war completion. Though still hoping that it will last a good while so we can keep the gold circulating for the contest. Also unresolved questions about if this year's delivery painting is going to cost 1500 or 2500. Or if only for this year it'll be 1500 and then 2500 the next year.

Also not exactly related to this part of Frostval, but perhaps the Fae Wanderer pet is either too strong or is bugged to heal more than it should? The values that it's healing make the old bugged DL weapons drop their mouths 20 miles deep into the earth. Hopefully we'll see the answer to that too.

It's not bugged I don't think. It's just coded to explode in power like every other "eater" functionality.

I have seen it as low as 18 heal and have seen it over 6k. There seems to be a bevy of factors. I have seen people claim INT helps, and I *know* lucky strike helps. I also think water resistance helps. I have seen people claim the monster's level also plays a role.

There may need to be a clawback added, just so as to not easily always have full heals in both with specific items used. It will be adjusted. They went from "fixing" SP issues with the DL weapons to telling the old DL weapons to hold my beer with this thing.

I do think it will remain pretty darn strong, though, as the eater functionality has pretty much remained the strongest set of ideas to date. Damage caps are attained the easiest this way. Even the blind eater mystic rainbow spell is crazy good. The status removal is viewed as justification, and if staff sees fit that it's ok, I would expect it to remain powerful...but maybe not THIS powerful.

BTW, the ranged sPell is outstanding too, and it doesnt even remove the panic. Full heal with ease.

Will the delivery war bring us an armor and a shield with synergy? If so, watch out.

I mean, imagine the shield inflicting panic upon the monster hitting you, and the armor having an SP toggle that also inflicts it? And the FSB is stronger panic?

The pet info sub mentions savedc affects healing. Since monster level affects savedc of status effects yes it is an influence

basically it's the penalty/advantage on the infliction/save roll. Usually that's just 0 but they can go from -20 to +20 and also take into account potency.

EDIT: at the very least I'm certain the amount of potency directly influences that value.

The formula might be wrong by a factor of 10.

(1 / (100-[Save DC])) should probably be (100 / (100-[Save DC])) instead.
Since that is what necromancer cloak grasp essence unravel blood uses.
And it has a min of 1 and a max of 10. Which in the current state means any Save DC <= 99 gives a modifier of 1. And a Save DC = 100 gives a modifier of 10.

I thought Save DC would include all modifiers to the status roll, not just the +-20 from the skill/spell itself and potences? So that would include level, major stat/vstate, and minor stat.

With this being the last of the holiday events for the year, I wanted to get a jump on something I've been wanting to talk about in the hopes that IF something about this can be done, that I've mentioned it with enough time that something could be done about it.

If anyone has actually looked at my suggestion thread outside of the few people who have actually left a comment, I suggested a "Ninjachaun" armor in lieu of what I believe we should have gotten back in 2018.

Virtually every time Sham has donned some other gear or armor outside of his typical leprechaun outfit, we have gotten either the same thing or some variant of what the was wearing for said circumstance:
Posts: 2, 3, & 5 = this
Post 4 = this
Captain Sham (no direct monster link) = this
• Mr. Frostvalverse (no direct monster link that I could find) and that one with the muskets (during frostvale; no direct monster link that I could find) = Festive Leprechaun (no direct link)
Love potion Sham (I don't remember true monster name & no direct monster link I could find) = this and this (if I remember correctly)

I don't know what theme is being planned for the upcoming Blarney event, or if a void boss could/would be added in lieu to provide this. I am not attempting to advertise "my" specific suggestion, but one of this theme and aesthetics, and I think the addition of this armor would help with the fact that:

...If only more player suggestions were actually implemented, even if things had to be fleshed out for balance sake.

I'm afraid there's this notion that suggestions have to be perfectly balanced, almost as if to make the workload as low as possible...or it's even more of a waste of time. That may be unfair, untrue, and even a little bit offensive to some, but I'm not trying to be. It's just how it looks and feels to me. I would LOVE to be proven wrong, and words otherwise here don't really serve much of a purpose.

As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words.

That said, there's only 52 weeks a year, and who knows the exact number of staff partake in the weekly updates. Time and manpower is limited. It's not like they can take the hundreds, if not thousands, of suggestions and just put them all on a silver platter.

I think there should just be 2-3 times per year where an item is added to the LTS, a quest reward, or GGB for a month and then maybe 1 week out of the year is a dedicated player suggestion week where everything is based on player suggestions, even if there's no storyline or anything else that really ties into the released items.

I think that's doable.

Balance is important to the implementation of a suggestion, as it is to the creation of any item. There's no imperative to create some 'perfectly balanced' item; standards and math make hyperbolic concepts like that irrelevant. An item can be mathematically balanced, within standards, and still very good or bad. The scope of a suggestion is far more relevant to its viability than some nebulous notion that isn't being in any way pushed.

Along a similar vein, I am well aware of having mentioned that we could use more rogue aesthetics. Reiterating the quote, though, doesn't make this any less off-topic. As a reassurance, the aesthetic was recently represented in the big finale of this year's main plot, and there are more such ideas I plan on suggesting to the team.

All suggestions are read, and we keep a variety of aesthetic ideas in mind.

While I won't share specific details publicly, I will say that the info-subs formulas for the currently released status-eaters aren't full representative of what's actually going on. They're usually simplified to some degree, for better or for worse. So I would be careful when drawing conclusions based on them.

Thanks Cray sensei! I really don't mean to sound ungrateful, it's just been so long since we got something of the aforementioned "aesthetic" and I'd be devastated if a similar amount of time was taken before another were released with the false premise that the Shadowfall Raiment solved everything (not to say that that is definitively how you all actually feel). Or the conversation I had with Hollow be forgotten or lost to obscurity. Which, if needed to be said, I care more about that the aesthetic items are added in general more than them specifically being specifically mine.

Though normally, anytime I mention the desire for more options, I am usually attempted to being drowned by what I consider gluttonous mages/wizards/spell casters and sometimes by beastmasters. It isn't always where I have as much evidence particularly on a specific thing that I can feasibly and concisely reference like in comparison to when I did a scrub through every armor in existence and found (I don't remember exactly as that thread was also deleted), less than 10-15 out of hundreds of armors that aligned with the aesthetics theme, with a good few of them being perma-rare.

MY PoV is just that there are likely far more players who don't know every little balance detail that must be implemented than do. And even ones who think they know don't always know. I certainly don't and I have played this game since 2006 as I've never really done a deep dive into it, as it's not my thing usually. And it would be a shame if ideas were to be overlooked due to a lack of this realization, when the aesthetics in principle around the idea is fantastic. I feel as though it is easy to take "Joe-Schmo's" good idea, and tweak for balance while attempting to keep the theme of what's being attempted, and end up showing the appreciation for the idea by actually creating it, but ensuring balance is there.

In the following scenario:

Idea 1- New, fresh, fun idea..but needs some tweaking to make it balanced.
Idea 2- Kind of plain functonally, but perfectly balanced suggestion

I'd hope idea 1 would get the preferential treatment for implementation provided the tweaking could balance it. If idea 2 is, that's a massive problem.

I'm always excited on what the staff has prepared for us. All the new items are so diverse. Even seemingly "plain" ones like status potence or damage MCs greatly supplement some builds

Anyway, I'm really hyped for the Delivery War rewards (shield and armor). I wonder how they're going to synergize with the already released Panic items. I can't wait!

Yes, staff has been coming up with great new ideas and effects and gear. In fact, it might be the best it's ever been for that.

But that's an entirely different topic than what's being discussed.

For the record, I'd just like to state that it was not my intention to start an entirely different discussion outside of the upcoming event. My comment was intended to mention something as a heads-up, I wasn't even expecting a reply from anyone.

While based on the link to the thread I authored, I think it goes without saying that I definitely appreciate this discussion; as I mentioned, this discussion of implementing suggestions overall would probably be more relevant to this thread.

There is some very strange things happening in random adventure and I believe it is somehow connected with today's release.

If you want to battle in RA, you can make yourself invisible by clicking on the background, you then have to requip the armour or you can continue in invisible mode. After you defeat the monster you end up in the guardian tower, first with Nimrod, then you are thrown to the right and then to the left in the guardian tower.

I have also managed to click on the background and jumped from one monster to another until the game freezes.

Last odd thing that happened was that I was able to point at the background and it would give me different messages and after one fight I ended up in Bulbug's housing shop and after another fight at Yulgar's inn.

I have cleared cache but RA is totally random now.

I tried this just now. It made my char invisible, I couldn't attack only cast spells. When the battle ended, it warped me to the rip in the sky

Edit: Seems like in RA, you can click random things in the battleon background. So far I've managed to click on the rip in the sky, guardian tower, LTS, and even change RA mid battle.
