Dialogue Konnan joins you as Guest A. Nirios joins you as Guest B. *Scene opens with Xan being unconscious due to Wargoth's manipulation on him in The Professor's hideout as you and your allies have brought him and Veyla back from his volcanic fortress; the unconscious Xan is sitting on a chair and covered with spectral chains from Etaos and Nirios; Nirios, Etaos, your dragon, you, Konnan, and The Professor prepare to wake him up and interrogate him.* <Character>: I almost feel bad for him. I've never seen him so... burnt out. Konnan: Do you think he might be pretending? <Character>: Hmm. There's one way to find out. Nirios? *Nirios moves the purple bubble containing the fire imp from The Professor closer to Xan; the imp laughs, causing Xan to wake up.* Xan: ...Get that... Get that stupid thing away! <Character>: See? He's fine. *Nirios moves the purple bubble containing the fire imp away from Xan.* Xan: What do you want? *The Professor projects Jaania from his mechanical arm.* The Professor: Who is this? Xan: ... Xan: HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAaa... Xan: You brought me here just to taunt me? To torture me? HAHAHAHA!! The Professor: You're here because we want to stop Wargoth. Don't you want revenge? Xan: I'm good at revenge. What does Jaania have to do with this? <Character>: That's Jaania?! The same Jaania you and Warlic fought over? <Character>: We saw her in the shared dreams of Wargoth and the Professor. She might be the key to everything! Xan: The "key" to everything? HAHAHAHA! NO! Xan: She is everything! Xan: This eternal fire? She's why Warlic did this to me! Xan: She's why Warlic was so mopey until he went and exploded! HAHAHA! <Character>: Hold on. We've been looking for Warlic, too. You think he exploded?! Xan: That's what he always said would happen if he used too much magic. Xan: Maybe he took one step too far and...HAHAHA! Kablooie! No more Blue Mage! Etaos: That doesn't make sense. We know Warlic made a portal... Nirios: A portal with uncountable destinations. What if he did "explode", so to speak? <Character>: Then even if we had all the... pieces... how would we even put him back together? <Dragon>: I'm good at puzzles! I can help! | *Helpful chirp!* <Character>: Thanks, <Dragon>, but I think that might be a little too complicated, even for you. The Professor: Xan, you and Warlic... <Character> said you fought over Jaania? Xan: ...Warlic was always the arrogant one. Always getting in the way... Xan: Yeah. We fought. And thanks to him, I ended up like this! And Jaania.... HAHAHAHAHA.... Xan: Jaania is trapped in a crystal of ice to this very day! Xan: And it's all his fault! Whatever happened to him, whether he exploded or got grated through a portal... Xan: HAHAHAHAHAHA! I hope it was painful! The Professor: I... see. I have a theory. I think we need Jaania to defeat Wargoth. The Professor: Tell me about this spell that keeps her imprisoned. Xan: HAHAHAHAHA! Don't be stupid. I've been trying to free her for... since... Xan: Forever. Xan: And so has Warlic, when he isn't too busy playing you all for fools! But of course he couldn't do anything! Xan: This fire... Warlic's fire keeps me alive. Keeps healing me. Xan: HAHAHAHAHA! Keeps hurting me! Xan: My spell... Something went wrong. There was so much magic flying around... Xan: I almost had that arrogant fool, it should have cut right through his fire! Xan: But he lost control. Everything rebounded. Ha... And then... Ha... The Professor: I can tell that this is a painful memory. The Professor: But we must know what happened in order to even attempt to free Jaania. Xan: Whatever Warlic did... The ice that traps Jaania, it's like my fire. Xan: Even the Ice Orb itself couldn't fully stop the burning in my skull, ahahahahHAHAHAAA. Xan: And my attempts at mastering ice magic as a human torch... were not successful, HAH! <Character>: You mean... the ice heals itself? Xan: HahahahaHA! The ice... and all the strains of other elements contained within it, HAHAHA! Xan: Do you know all the elements that a human body contains? That ice preserves... while fire burns? Xan: HAHAHAHAHAHAAA! The Professor: So if your spell had succeeded on Warlic then... You would have had him trapped... Forever. Xan: If he hadn't shoved me head first into the Plane of Fire... If my spell hit who it was intended for... Xan: I would have had full control over the spell. I could have undone it whenever I wanted! HAHAHA! The Professor: Surely Warlic would have realized that too? Did the two of you ever try to free her together? Xan: HAHAHAHAHA! Don't ask stupid questions. The Professor: It isn't stupid. The Professor: If it was your magic combined that caused this, then it only makes sense that it would take your combined magic to undo it. Xan: HAHAHAHA! Too bad he's gone! AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA! The Professor: But we still have you. If I could see the crystal for myself, see how it reacts to your magic... The Professor: I may be able to figure out how to align the elements to shatter it. <Character>: Do you think that's really possible? The Professor: I wouldn't have said it if there wasn't a chance. Etaos: Alz'ein won't leave Veyla's side, and Isiri is keeping them shielded from Wargoth. Nirios: I'll go. That way, if anything comes up, we can still communicate. The Professor: We need you for this, Xan. Can we count on your cooperation? Konnan, <Character> (in unison): ... Xan: I'll kill you if you try to stop me from coming along, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *You are now in the Deadlands; you fight various elementals as you find Jaania's crystal.* <Character>: Are you sure this is the right way, Xan? Jaania's crystal is out here in the Deadlands?, Xan: HAHAHAHAHA! Of course I know the way... A certain Blue Mage thought this would be the safest place for her! Xan: He moved her from that dingy basement, and I wasn't allowed to object! HAHAHAHA!, <Character>: Wait, then how did you find out where Warlic moved her? Xan: ...Warlic told me. Maybe he was feeling "guilty" or something., Konnan: ...Or maybe he wanted to try to work together with you. Konnan: Wait, why aren't you helping us fight?, Xan: HAHAHA! I could always heal the fire elementals for you, if you wanted! HAHAHAHA! Konnan: Point taken., <Character>: Besides, he's carrying all of the Professor's equipment. Isn't that normally your job, Konnan? Xan: Hmm... There weren't usually this many elementals around, though! HAHAHA!, <Character>: Maybe Warlic was keeping them under control, before he disappeared... Or... Nirios: Or maybe this land wasn't spared the recent surge in elemental activity., Xan: HAHAHA! Who cares? Jaania's cave is right here! Mind your heads! The Professor: Now that we're inside, my instruments are picking up intense readings. Warlic must have shielded this cave from outside detection., <Character>: And yet there are hostile elementals in here, too. Nirios: The elemental balance here is shifted, isn't it, Professor? I believe it's like this all over..., The Professor: If this world's elements are unbalanced, perhaps Wargoth is taking advantage of that for his campaign. A solid observation, Nirios. The Professor: But let us first focus on the task at hand. All else can wait., Xan: HAHAHA! That's right! Nothing else matters! HAHAHAHAHA! Xan: ...Jaania's just around the corner. *Eventually, The Professor, you, your dragon, Nirios, Konnan, and Xan find Jaania's crystal in a cave as it was sent by Warlic from the basement of Swordhaven's tower to the Deadlands beforehand; eight strange symbols can be seen throughout the room.* Xan: HAHAHAHAHA! Not so easy, is it? Konnan: Shut up. The Professor needs to focus. Xan: ...Whatever. *Scene shifts to The Professor, who is looking at Jaania's crystal.* The Professor: ...To think this spell was crafted by accident... The Professor: Apprentice? I need you to set up my tools. *Scene fades to black.* Complete Quest Loot for DCs - opens Cooperation Loot for DCs shop. Shattered Blade - opens Shattered Blade (Shop).
