Just an observation I've made about the current standings in ED. There are only a handful of factions that dominate this game and they dominate by far. And the thing is, every up and coming good player wants to join those handful of factions thus widening the gap between the elites and the rest even more. It can be directly related to the statement "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer". So can anything be done about this? Is there anyway to stop the ED elitism or should we simply accept it as it is? Just an interesting point i'd love to hear your feedback on.

Well, i can say that it is not impossible to beat the elites by getting 1st all-time.
Look at HAX, they already passed Lords Eddye who dominated the jugg mode. In only 2-3 months?

If you have very active members and you pull out the best you can surpass them.
Like HAX did.

But i do agree that elites dominate and everybody wants to join them instead of a new faction.
Even if the new faction promises to be good, they will always choose for the elites.

Im not one of them. I hate factions that demand a certain amount of infl, like they dont give a dmn about you but only on your infl and tokens.
Therefor i always join semi-casual factions.

I would hope there are way more active players then there are spots in these elite factions.

But yes, it is hard to keep players in a startup faction. In fact I, myself, am kind of guilty of leaving a growing faction for one already near the top.

Its just more exciting to be part of something that's already super good than to patiently wait for a faction to gain momentum and risk the possibility it never gets off the ground.

their are many players far better then anyone in the "elite factions " factions mean next to nothing to alot of us so we dnt bother with them all i think when i see a "elite" faction is wow thoose guys most be active and play a whole lot has nothing to do with being good or bad . im not saying their bad but yeah their no better then anyone else . ive been offered a place in hax and other "elites" and turned them down i have no interest . cos tbh i dnt need a faction to make me look good/ smart . i know im good . xD

And people like Blitzex is the reason why start up faction stand a chance for greatness. Takes a lot of effort to recruit People into a start up and takes tremendous luck for a good active player.

The secret is to recruit and help lower level players, so they are loyal to the end.

This only happens because everyone thinks that they can lead a faction.

^ Well, everyone CAN, but not everyone is good at it or cares enough to create a good faction.

I've never been interested in joining an "elite" faction, because I doubt I play enough to stay in one. I like to join decently active factions that I can stay in for a long time, and get to know the other people in it a little bit.

i think it depends on a player if he/she want to join elite factions or not. as for me, i was a former member of Ed
War Tribunal. been there for almost 2 years but since shun and pebs not into the game anymore, i still didn't leave the fact untill a friend of mine made her own fact. not so being boastful, there were lots of factions offering me to join, to name a few (CAD, Meganet and HAX) but i still choose to join a newly created faction for the reason of helping other fact members. So if anyone wants to join an already "established" faction, let them be, there's nothing wrong with that. But it's really good to see some factions rise up sooner or later as soon as omega releases.

First day I made it with The Bomb Expert (Now leader of Da Bomb Swuad; a 2v2 fac, GO JOIN HIM ;) We made it a chill faction with me and some beta friends like Sundance, I am A Walrus and many others.. Then 2 hours before reset we were like... Why not? Lets go for 1v1.. And thats how HAX started. Well HAX is a lil under 2 months old... I started out with it just with old beta friends and it grew.

The things I think you need to run a successful faction:
1) 3-4 Loyal friends who are active, whats better than loyals AND friends?
2) Good personality. be a talkative person, get to know your players
3) Friendly, noone wants to join a leader whos annoying and mean
4) Wellknown, it helps in certain suituations when you are just a little bit behind
5) Good resources, know your friends and who is made avaliable
6) You have to be strategic and stay organized
7) Be a friend to get a friend
8) Know the players in the certain battlemode... watch the boards and see those loyal people abnd the people who go hard.
9) Weekday players, most of Epicduel is all kids so its lucky to find those weekday players
10) People with blending personalities, causes less drama and no fighting
11) Have a reliable co-founder who can run the faction when you arent around

Starting out I always reassured my players that they were doing a good job. I sent messages every hour saying how good they were doing... Nowadays I dont even have to tell them when or when not to fight. They do it by themselves, no leading neccessary. You gotto have a backbone though, many juggernaut factions are very spiteful...

Also I had a unique recruiting style
;
1) Recruited people without a juggernaut daily, because then they are more inclined to going for it=giving your faction 200 jugg wins that day.
2) Recruited bestfriends; they are loyal to the end and fun to talk 2
3) Recruit underdogs; they are more willing to prove themselves and be one of those age old "Pros"

Casually after time, they start coming to you thats when the fun begins. But you always have to stay loyal to the end, otherwise your doomed to fail. Always have to remain greatful for the players you already have.

Like I said in LatinLover's thread, I am a faction of one
I like it because I can have ANY title I want, I can have the word "Circus" under my name, which I think is just fantastic
I like my title being "The Doctor" spelt exactly how I like, and not needing to be active if I don't want to

I am on pretty much everyday, regardless of school, and in 2 weeks I have gotten 6k influence
Don't know if it's good or bad, but it is what it is
I have also been invited to great factions, but I just dislike the feeling of not being on enough to stay in it, and fearing to log on without a faction under my name

Just a strong reminder before this thread goes to deep into discussions, there will be no which faction is the best or "faction vs faction" discussion here (this also includes offending other factions in any way.) We can definitely stick to talking about elite factions in ED and how they can effect the faction competition / gameplay but please remember the first sentence in that "calling out" other factions will only end up in the thread been locked and a possibly good discussion topic removed.

I was once the Co-Leader/Co-Founder of HAX before leaving on my own accord due to several different reasons (wont say them, dont ask hahaa) and i helped recruit the top players in that faction that help the faction run as well as it does today, then when those players moved on (some decided to follow me and be in my faction) the ones who were left knew how to recruit from Latin and myself teaching them. Now onto the subject matter... "Elite" factions are just another way of saying a group that has been together for a while without disbanning (which many of them do after long periods of time). The start-up factions are only difficult to make because you need people who are willing to stick through the thick and thin of the good and hard times of your fac as well as be supportive and work to help further the progress of the fac. These "Elite" factions used to be start-up factions that ended up staying alive and becoming great. I once had a what i would think would be a "semi-elite" faction back in gamma. It was the original Da Bomb Squad, we had 32 2v2 wins and great players. (disbanned due to deeply personal issues) I decided, if i am working hard and getting all of these wins, why not do it with a great group of friends and players and for a fac i know wont disappear. In successfully running a faction i have noticed there are key ideas that need to be made clear.

KEY IDEAS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1. Find loyal individuals (usually friends so you know they wont leave) and build up your officer spots

2. Go scouting for good players that would work well with your specified battle mode (1v1, 2v2, Jugg)

3. Pick one battle mode and stick to that mode. That is the easiest way to become a good faction.

4. Utilize your Head Quarters and your Head Quarters Note Bot. Use it to talk about goals and aspirations for fac, dailies, flags, etc.

5. When Scouting Make sure to be kind and show them why your fac is the right choice over anyone else's

6. Bribes do not pay off in the end. It only messes up your factions reputation and makes your members look desperate

7. When leading a fac, make them feel like they are important because in the end, they truly are. Treat them like a family, just as latin and I did for HAX and like she continues to and i run my Fac (Da bomb Squad) as a family of individuals as well.

8. Never, ever, ever put your faction members down. Always show them and tell them they did a good job even if they feel they didn't

9. Make sure you do not get tricked or duped by other factions going back on their word and either taking dailies from you or stealing players from your faction

10. When you shoot for a flag make sure you can take it, as well as keep it for an extended period of time.

11. Lastly, shoot for dailies and get your name out there and sooner or later your faction will become one of those "Elite" factions you hear about and see with amazing players and winning dailies and keeping flags.

If you ever need any help with anything in-game, aspects of the game, item help, build help, anything... I will try my best to accommodate you and your requests. I am here if you need anything, i also have been through lots of personal crap and situations, so if you need someone to talk to, I'm all ears :).

Hope this helps you all in your future endeavors as faction members or leaders,

~Da bomb Expert

i agree that factions are not fair on the lower players so how about a faction with 100 members each or something like that

Some elite factions do effect the game alot.

Especially the elite people which make another account (level 1) and then use that account to get quick wins for their faction. It doesn't make any sense these days on why elite factions get a level 1 player and use that to make their faction win.

The problem is we'd need a whole nother set of leaderboards for the new type of faction, or we'd have to change normal factions fundamentally from what they are. A faction should be a relatively small group of close knit players dedicated to the cause of their faction. If a faction had 100 members, the family atmosphere would go away. Not to mention managing such a faction would be a complete nightmare.

Another good way to keep a faction alive is if you have something in common. Maybe most of the faction are beta players, or you were members of an old faction. A good example of this was renegade masters, they were mostly remnants of my old faction once i quit leading a competetive faction, or Project Biocide, which was a supergroup comprised of competetive foudners and old faction leaders merged into one ultimate faction.

Bottom line is you got to have a core group of players who are close friends and really enjoy the game.

An ED Elite faction can be anything really. It can hold some of the toughest all time players, or it could have a good value to it.

Examples:

CAD: I consider this faction Elite just because of how well known they and how many times they have dominated the 1v1 board.

HOWEVER, I would ALSO consider factions that bring people together for fun, and not wins Elite, like The Federation Elite Factions do.

So, to sum it up. It depends on the players views of what is Elite :)

^ Federation Elite is a horrible idea for alignment loyalty, but great for friends, but anyway. I am currently talking to friends about a start-up Jugger faction, which is hard with HAX.

Who's "we"? xD And also, I'd love to join factions...but I don't usually get on much in Epicduel and that turns off lots of recruiters in factions who want super competitiveness. I can't seem to find clans who are more laid back.....
