If I may ask, the feedback thread here is read and worked on right?

Also, why can a ombie hit me from all the way across the room now? Tried backing away from one in the Nightlocke lair and it could hit me from a million miles away throgh a pillar. I do not like this.

Yes, the feedback thread is monitored.

As for the long range melee hits it's unintended but we're aware of it. No ETA on a fix yet though.

The last reset was the final reset planned. If an unplanned reset is required in the future it will be announced in advance.

So I haven't played this game for approximately a month and have a few questions:

1) I noticed that the graphics of the game seems slightly..."different" in a way compared to what I remember last month. Is there a change in it or is it just me?

2) I am currently level 10 and currently at the Doomwood Forest and it feels like I am struggling quite a bit fighting the monsters. Before this, I have farmed quite a lot of EXP prior to this and if I didn't, I would probably still be at around level 8. I actually wanted to farm more EXP at places such as Shatterskull Bridge or Yulgar's Sinkhole but it is always empty. I also wanted to get some crafting materials from certain monsters which are pretty tough for me. Is there a place where I can ask for people to help me out for EXP grinding/ getting certain items? I know there is the Let's Party! thread but only one person has posted it there so I am not sure if it is very active or will anyone actually sees it because not a lot of people post in the AQ3D forums as well.

3) Speaking of farming EXP, I heard from some people saying that the amount of EXP required to level from level 13 to 14 is 70k and the amount of EXP required to level from level 14 to 15 is 738k, which is more than 10 times of what is required to level up from 13 to 14. This seems sort of unbalanced and I am curious is there a reason for this?

4) When I went to Shatterskull Bridge just now, there are quite a few people there killing the skeletons over there, which seems quite normal as that is what the people there did back about a month ago but it seems different this time. Back then people would be using Warrior due to its AoE but know most of the people there are using Mage because it seems like the Skeletons there won't attack back if it is being attacked from a distance away. It might be slow but it is a reliable way to kill it. Is is suppose to be like this?

5) Just curious, will any of the ideas from the suggestion/feedback thread being implemented? One example is slightly changing the combat system. Will there be anymore major changes to the game before it gets released next month? I feel that at its current state it is not really ready to be launched yet.

6) Last question, can AQ3D be played without opening Steam?

@Zippleclopper

1. Some minor edits to lighting but that's about it as far as I'm aware.

2. You could try asking players in Battleon.

3. That is correct. It's intended to give players something to work towards in the beta as level 15 is the cap.

4. The pathing AI in Shatterskull Bridge is currently bugged, but we're working on a fix.

5. That's up to the devs. They monitor that thread themselves.

6. You can play AQ3D on an Android device as well currently. In the future it'll also be available on iOS and possibly via the Windows Store on PC as well.

Thanks for the response Undead Lunatics.

I am sure that as time progresses, the max level will be increased and how will it be at that time? Will the EXP from level 15 to higher levels be even higher or will it be lesser than 738k? It is the latter, then wouldn't it be unfair to those who have achieved level 15 currently?

quote:

Yeah I guess you are right. I am sure the devs know what they are doing and I believe they will make this game successful.

A few more questions:

1) I noticed that after I selected a server to log into, the game just freezes/stop responding for a while before I log in as usual. Also, after I exited the game, it will also get stuck and then a pop-out saying aq3d.exe has stopped working and Windows is checking a solution to it appears. After awhile, it will then say Windows couldn't find a solution to it and then closes the program. However I was able to play again after that but these two problems persist everytime I play. This didn't happen back in the last time I played, which is about a month ago. Am I the only one experiencing this problem or is it suppose to be like this?

2) About how long does it take to farm the NightLocke Weapons? Are the Fragments guaranteed to drop?Or does have a low chance of dropping? Does the NightLocke monsters in the Crypts(dungeon) respawn after being defeated?

3) Regarding crafting: If I wanted to craft the Deathly Zed Sword, which has a craft time of a day. do I need to stay in the game for a day OR I can log out and log back in after 24 hours to get it OR say, if I log out and crafting time has 23h remaining and if I log back in the next time, it will still remain at 23h remaining? Also, why does the crafting time for the items in Yulgar's Craft Shop so long? Is there a reason to this?

4) I sorta forget about this so I will ask it: when did AQ3D went live on Steam? I think it is around March but I think it is wrong.

A long shot admittidly, but do we have any news on the Alpha Pirate Class, and item mergeing? I'd like to dress up as a Pirate but the items are no good stat wise. Also we need a cutlass/pistol weapon.

Zippleclopper: i can answer a few of those:

If getting to level 14 and 15 is a goal to work towards, it will probably be rebalanced on full release. For now it's just a end goal.

I do beleive you can log out and it will progress. I think I did anyway. I do know at least you can pick them up from your menu rather then going to the crafter though.

Yes, the exp requirement for level 15 will be adjusted when the game goes live/when the level cap is increased. The idea is that you get to achieve level 15 before that gets changed and you get to say you were level 15 in Closed Beta.

1. We're aware of this bug but I don't have an ETA on when it's going to be fixed. (You're not the only one affected.)

2. Depends on how quick you clear the dungeon and how lucky you get with the required drops. The mobs do not respawn (except for a room or two where the room objective is not to defeat every enemy in order to open the portal).

3. Your items will continue to craft while you're offline. The Brutal Horn and Brain Slime were icons that represented having completed a fairly long quest line in an older patch, therefore I believe that's why the craft times are longer.

4. March 9th, 2016.

Nothing yet, you'll see it first on the Design Notes though as I'm not allowed to announce content or news that has yet to be announced by the devs.

Umm, bit of a silly question, but I created an account and I'm wondering... where do I go to play the game? It says I have early access granted, but I'm not sure where to find this early access thing.

You need to play the game either via Steam or through Android. If you want to play it on Steam then refer to this design note for help.

Thanks for the reply guys.

Good to know that items will continue crafting even if I log out.

1) Regarding dungeons(just went on a few runs today, lucky enough to find a few people doing it as well) and it seems like the drop rates for the crafting materials were pretty low. Is it just me or is it suppose to be pretty low? Dungeons that I went to are Crypt of the War Axe and Umbral Caves.

2) Regarding items: What are the best weapons currently? I think it is the NightLocke Weapons. Then what are the weapons behind it?(2nd, 3rd and so on)

3) Removed

4) Is there any chance of another wipe occurring? I know they have stated this is the last one but I just wanted to make sure. I am almost level 13 and I have played quite a lot over the past few days and I hope it doesn't go wasted.

4) I had asked Cysero on Twitter on August 29th 2016 and this is the response I got:

Will there be another Character Wipe before the game is fully released or are we done with those?

quote:

Cysero @Cysero
@GojetaDragonAE We hope not, but this is beta so you never know. It's always good to assume there will be.

Link to tweet

The best we can do now is to keep our eyes peeled on the design notes for any relevant information.

I see. It seems like there might be a small chance of a reset happening from how it is stated it the message. I certainly hope not because I have played quite a lot of hours over the past few days and am currently level 13. I am sure quite a lot of people have played for long hours just to get to level 15/some crafting items.

What about these questions:

If there is a reset, it would hurt the game more that it would help, unless there was a BIG overhaul of how items work as a whole in the progression. (In that case it would make complete sense).
I mean, players already spent real money, there was promotional stuff happening, it would deal a huge blow to the hype of the game, in my opinion.

About those questions:
1) I crafted all the items from all the dungeons, so I can tell you that yes, the drop rates are quite low (the special ones from bosses). Its supposed to take a while, although it can feel frustrating to go 20 times to a dungeon to never get the drop you want. But you can also be lucky and find 4 items out of 20 tries/keys.

2) For me, the best weapon is NightLocke Scythe. It has the best damage output, always awesome at higher levels where your survival is already decent anyways, and enables you to clear content more quickly in pursuit of other items, too.
If you are tanking, Going with Nightlocke Axe is really a good idea. It is unmatched in defense, and the extra 5% chance to hit helps prevent your combos from being broken.
Third best could be the Axe from doomwood bridge. (shatterskull, I think?). It has overall a bigger amount of stats, even if it doesn't excel in anything. Its good if you don't have different Nightlocke weapons to swap around for each need.

I guess I will just use the Bridgekeeper's Axe then. Unfortunately that is level 14 and I am only level 13. I have considered farming for Nightlocke but on the same time, I also wanted farm EXP to level 14 so I can use AK ll Helm. Which would be a better choice?

I went to the NightLocke dungeon today and this happened: http://imgur.com/a/B0CfL
Explanation of whats going on: I went to the dungeon(this is only my second time) and I wasn't really sure how to get past the first part(I will state later)and this guy in the dungeon got really mad and thought I wasn't doing anything but just leeching. Apparently I wasn't and I was having trouble getting through. I am sure if I asked how to get through, it will probably be a similar response coming from a person like this. Last 2 lines were when we reached the boss. He is reluctant to fight it and wanted me to get it to low health and then he will attack. That's pretty terrible I guess because I probably won't win the fight.

I guess things like this happen and I am sure there are even worse scenarios compared to this but yesterday when I went to the dungeon there was a nice guy there who helped me out and waited for me to get through. There are also times where people stopped farming at Shatterskull Bridge to help out someone with Gathmor. I guess I am too used to the (usually)nice and friendly environment of AQ3D(which would probably change once Open Beta comes)

My question is: should something like this be reported? And what will be done when it is reported?

Next question regarding the NightLocke dungeon: Is there a tip for me to get through the gates of the part one section? Yesterday the person in the dungeon told me to climb the statue from the side and jump towards the gate. However I keep falling down and got killed by the monsters attacking there before I reach the other side . I think they are supposed to be killed so that the gate opens but I guess people wanted a shortcut maybe.

I leveled up to 14 by doing the Nightlocke dungeons over and over. The exp gained isn't so bad, even if the best place to simply farm exp is still the bridge. I would say to go for the dungeons and getting yourself a cool weapon for your time, and the exp will be earned as a bonus. :)

A similar thing happened a long time ago, a player was wanting me to fight the boss alone so he could deal the last hit... I was confused! Maybe he thought getting the last hit gives you better chances to drop the item, a myth that some players believe. Its ridiculous, specially when you recognize that when those items drop, they drop for everyone. Maybe he wanted you to fight first so he wouldn't die during the battle. Sigh.

Anyways, about those gates, perhaps I can explain better how to go over them:
First of all, you are right, killing the monsters opens the gates, and intended. But players figured out they could skip ahead to save time.
On the first gate, climb the statue. Then jump to the top of the pillar/column that is closest to the statue. Its from the there that you must jump towards and over the gate. Requires a bit of practice, but it becomes second nature easily.
Second gate is easier. Climb the coffin to the left, and from there jump up+right towards the pillar that connects the gate. These pillars all have some weird hit-boxes, so where to actually jump to might not be very apparent at first.
You must still kill the zombies in third part of the room to open the final gate, but skipping the two previous gates shortens the dungeon a lot, since its the room that takes the longest to go through.

I don't know if asking that player would have done anything, but the he seemed mad because he was waiting for you to go through the gates. He could have have helped, at least I would have. =/

You know what? You are level 13 with Alpha knight armor right? You should be able to solo the final bosses regardless of other players.
Equip Mage class, and simply run in circles around the room spamming the auto-attack button. They won't even touch you. Heh you don't even need alpha knight for that! :D
At level 13, I was soloing the Nightlocke dungeons without much effort, although the biggest challenge was never the final boss, but the Spider in the Water fountain room. That one is trickier to solo, because there's not so much space to run around the room, so the spider will still hit you sometimes.

About reporting, I have no idea what would happen, It seems awful but unfortunately, most of the times these things are not enough to take action. Maybe a warning? I don't know. :(
Sometimes a person may be frustrated into doing/saying these things because of something else with their life, and a warning would just cause them to feel its unfair to them, and provoking even more toxic behavior.
And about banning/suspending? In my opinion, I would prefer players to learn rather that being excluded from even playing. Its a tough situation. But reporting would not hurt, I guess. In the very least, if the player were to continue doing the same, multiple reports could culminate in an action being taken. I don't know what they do though, so I can't clarify.

Thanks for the detailed response. Now I actually got the hang of how to get pass the gates but still fail to do so sometimes but its fine.

quote:

Maybe he wanted you to fight first so he wouldn't die during the battle. Sigh.

quote:

Actually, he is level 15 with the AK ll Set and NightLocke weapon. He just didn't want me to get the drops as he was very pissed at me. Since you said that even a level 13 can defeat the boss so I am sure a level 15 should be able to do it easier. I am sure he just wanted to screw me up and I will leave after awhile because I have no choice and he will just stay and kill and boss and get the drop by himself.

As for the first part of the dungeon, he had got through the gates earlier while I am still struggling to get pass that time. He got to the final area and was fighting the monsters by himself and thought that I didn't want to help and got mad. What he didn't see is that I was still trying to get through there.

So today I went to the NightLocke Dungeon(again) a few times (was lucky that there were people wanting to go) and it seems like the fragment from the boss has a VERY low drop rate? So far I only have the Venom Fragment and tried to get the Blazing Fragment but no luck. I think my key supply is halved from doing it, which is kind of frustrating. Currently I already have enough Spirit Essences and Empowered Weapon Fragments.

Regarding the Spider at the Water Fountain: Can it be soloed? I tried but couldn't do it. That room is VERY buggy as monsters just clump into one area and stop moving. Even the Spider stays in the hole for some reason and I couldn't attack it. Monsters were able to attack me through the walls.

Also, sort of a side question: Can you or anyone who sees this help me out in the dungeons? I know there is a Let's Party thread but I feel that an exact time would be better because I can't stay online all the time waiting only. There are rarely any people going to the dungeon now as I think most of them already have the weapons at this point. People in Battleon are usually AFK and people at Shatterskull Bridge are just farming EXP.

I will be online from now to about 11am server time and after that I will be offline. I will probably be online again starting at 7pm server time later. If anyone wants to help me out, please reply and maybe state where you are at now or just give the summon code. Thanks a lot!

I wish I could help you, to show you how to handle that spider part. Its possible that the Spider might still be still too strong for you, depending on your damage output. What weapon are you currently using?

Sadly I think my time-zone doesn't allow me to meet you at the time you need :( Right now I'm at work, but when you are able to log back in, It will be too late for me.

But I can try helping you in another way with some more info, if you find yourself alone in that water fountain part:
In the section where you find the final fountain that summons the spider, there's a dirt/mud wall (opposite to the Spider hole wall) that you can climb from a certain angle.
If you stay there, monsters that were following you will stop, and then reset, allowing to fight the spider more safely. Its possible to walk around the room in a way that the spider is barely able to hit you, so soloing is possible. (Try running around the room in an 'olympic field' shape)
Again, it could depend on your damage output. But be careful to not move too far while running around, otherwise you will reset the spider.

Regarding the drop rate, yes, the fragments drop rarely. You might use all 20 keys and find no fragment, or find 2 or 3. I would say that after farming all 3 weapons and a total of 9 fragments, it felt like a 10% drop chance, but it could be less.

It's fine. Work is more important. Thanks for trying to help!

I just reached level 14 about an hour ago. I am using the level 14 Bridgekeeper's Axe and Tegmina Cloak with AK ll Set. I believe these are the current best items.

Regarding the room with the Spider: I wasted a few keys(again) trying to solo that part several times but failed to do so. I don't know if it is just me or not but it seems like that part of the dungeon is really buggy. When I goto the middle part, the monsters don't attack me immediately but only do so after awhile. I then proceed to go up to the dirt wall and see that the monsters are STILL attacking me. they stopped after awhile though.

There are times where the monsters attack me but I don't see them at all. It seems like the monsters attacks and movements are out of sync or something. For example, when I hit a monster from a range, it will then proceed to run towards me. However, the monster is running but is still at the same position but I STILL take damage. Then after sometime, it seems like the monster teleported to me. I think the combat and movements ARE out of sync.

Regarding the Spider: After I have filled up the cups, the spider will then appear but it just stays in the hole, making me unable to hit it while taking damage myself. Is there a way to get it out properly? Also, there are times where the spider DOES come out, it will move but just stuck at one position and when I tried to attack it, nothing happens. I guess this is another out of sync situation. When things are fine, I tried to solo it but failed to do so. It still attacked me when I ran around. I have seen people bringing the spider to the front. How do they do that?

I found a video of that scenario. It seems like this guy can solo the Spider without a lot of bugs.

So is it just me or is the dungeon actually pretty buggy?

My question is: should something like this be reported? And what will be done when it is reported?

Yes, absolutely report them. You have evidence right there of a player using vulgarity to attack you. Action will usually be taken fairly quickly (either in the form of a ban or a mute); I do help Sora sometimes with things like this too.

Regarding the monsters having weird behavior, and looking buggy, I am experiencing the exact thing all the time, everywhere. It wasn't like this before, but I can tell you for sure that its just a VISUAL thing.
The monster might look still, but in reality he is moving normally, attacking normally at proper time, etc.
Its just that what us players see is actually delayed. It feels worse recently, the visual delay can reach a good 3 seconds, or even more! That's why it doesn't seem to match. monsters may be attacking from afar or from behind things, when they are actually close to you.

Versus the spider/other bosses, I ignore what I see. I just keep on the move, doing the same circular movement around the room. Getting it out to attack might be tricky, because to attack it needs to be out of the hole, but if for you it still shows it inside, you can't target it soon enough.
Its a bummer, but behind the visual lag, its probably working correctly.

Is there math on how each point of attack/defense/etc. on an item affects damage taken/done? % per point?
