 Superb, I'm back in! Lovely to see everyone here. :)

Finished my MA, got my research degree, had a career as an academic, and now work in higher ed. Got married, which was great! It's been 21 years (!) since I made an account on the forums, and I do think back to those days. Nerdy, silly days, but I'm still in touch with a fair few people from then, and I wish you all the best.

PS: Sorry if you PMed me in the past decade and a half!

I just noticed that my account is at least 18 years old. I can't stop thinking about how when I first posted I couldn't comprehend how a virtual place could mean so much to people. I remember asking that in some thread regarding someone being banned and couldn't grasp why everyone was sad. Now I keep coming back here as it gives me perspective and fills me with nostalgia of older times. I miss this place and how it made me feel, how it made me feel included when I couldn't feel that in the "real world", how this was a community. I'm not sure if I ever found that feeling again.

 Insane that it's been 5 years since the last time I posted in *this thread.* Now I'm even cringing at how youthful my nostalgic posts over the past decade in this thread seem. Always so nice and bittersweet to see familiar names and avvys scrolling through.

These forums really were part of a special moment on the internet, weren't they? And of course it helps that we all miss being 12 years old. I hadn't even considered the possibility that these forums could be taken down someday until I read some of you mentioning that. I hope that never happens - would make me too sad.

I miss you all - I miss this place - I miss that moment in time. It really makes me feel something to think that we keep circling back here. Life goes on. I hope I remember to come back again, and that this is still here when I do

It's been 21 years since I first created a character in the original AdventureQuest. This "lunch break-sized" RPG is all grown up now.

 Nice to see the forums are still kicking. 20 years for me, 10 since I hit 150 on my AQ account. I'm capt.morgan123, an account long since defunct, but I was able to come back pending good behavior, and have had various alts (+10).

I was in the debate club, an approved artist, an active participant in Nautica, and a member of the Warriors of Desolation. You may remember me from the InvisionFree days, as I was frequently banned here. Mister Know It All, Battleon Town News (even guessed Gorobei's admin password once), the Random Zone, Best of the Best, OOC Newsletter, and I started the Eleventh Dimension.

Currently in 5th year as a professor, recently approved for the rank of assistant, accepted a position to manage STEM adjuncts, as well as a possibility as taking on a lab manager title for my college. I'm a student myself, two semesters out from my 3rd masters, a medical science degree in anatomical sciences education. I'm also a research assistant in a bioanalytics lab. I am published, and have a couple more papers on the docket, mostly reviews-- protein-protein interactions preceding Alzheimer's Disease, perchlorate bioremediation, and eukaryote presence in oil-bearing formations.
