Mo -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/23/2008 15:07:46)

Here's a tut. My very first one so it isn't very good.

Icey background.

First, open up a new canvas. Mine was 430 by 300. First, choose any circle brush and choose any color that looks like cyan. Then, make a circle in the bottom left corner. Then, make a larger circle over the first circle, but make sure to lower the opacity. Ideally, by 10. Keep repeating this until the entire canvas is filled. Now, go to filters<distorts<mosaic. You screen should look like this

Now, if you want to brighten the background, use choose the color white and change the opacity to 23.5. If yuo want to darken, do the same thing but with a dark blue brush. Now, if you want, go to light and shadow<gradient flare<default and then move it to where you would like. This was my result:

Caldoo: You need to register yourself in PlanetRenders. After logging in with that account, you are able to click on an render. This render will open in a new window in high quality with often a white background. Then right-click >> Save as. Save it. Open in GIMP or any other programm as a layer. (Open Layer)

Take Care,

~CD~

Creditzz... :( I want to be in credits :D

I'll never forget what you have done to me ZTG :D. You made me from a newb >> the best sig shop owner in Sigs and Avvy Requests! After the purge and I nearly got 10 pages, which makes me having the most evah! And all of that on my own >:D. (Yeah, SOE, you didn't even make 1 request, so I don't count you :\)

zenron the great -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/28/2008 15:39:24)

[:)]you did it yourself dude. I only hlped you along a little. congratz on nearly 10 pages.

can I join it BTW. im kinda bored right now and dont want to open my own. only temp though :P

Cheesefreeak -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/28/2008 15:41:12)

You should add the hotkeys, they are a big help. I'll list the ones I can think of here:

p = select paint brush tool
b = select pen tool
shift + b = select bucket tool
ctrl + c = copy selection (if nothing selected, it copies the layer)
ctrl + v = paste (pastes into a 'floating layer' which must be anchored)
ctrl + x = cut selection (if nothing selected, cuts out layer)
ctrl + z = undo (GIMP can undo up to 20 or so steps)
ctrl + scroll wheel = zoom
i = select magic wand tool
shift + scroll wheel = scroll left and right
scroll wheel = scroll up and down
press and hold scroll wheel = grabs canvas, drag to move around
shift + left mouse button (while on paint brush tool) = line tool, when you click it creates a line from that point to the point you last clicked
ctrl + left mouse button (while on paint brush tool) = select color tool, click anywhere to select its color
shift + left mouse button (while on pen tool) = create new point
backspace (while point selected with pen tool) = delete point

There are a bunch more, and you'll probably want to organize them and group all the hotkeys for each tool together. Those are just all the ones I use the most and therefore remember.

zenron the great -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/28/2008 15:50:03)

no worries dude. Trip has a threa for exactly that. I'll put it up now.

Cool Dragonz -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (3/1/2008 10:42:35)

I still got no PM back from you ZTG, still want to join? (Remember, make at least 1 request a day). Btw: Tut Tut tut! The ultimate GIMP tut source --> http://tutorialblog.org/gimp-tutorials/ . Websites I never heard about are here.

zenron the great -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (3/2/2008 4:16:11)

I dont get the one request a day. If I join it I don't make requests...I do the requests.

Cool Dragonz -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (3/2/2008 12:14:37)

Whoops, English isn't my main language as you see :D. I mean do 1 request a day and you are accepted. Btw.. add that site I gave you in the previous post under tutorials :D

zenron the great -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (3/2/2008 15:37:51)

Update: added a banner. The text took longer then the actual tag....

Gers1 -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (3/2/2008 15:41:51)
