Well, though I'm certainly not meaning to add to the flood the ice applicants, this character really must participate this year. Best of luck to all. Name: Espin of the Frozen Plateau Element of Participation: Ice Class, if applicable: Hunter Abilities: Espin has the spirit and heart of the ever frozen tundra within his veins. Though he dresses in the fashion of his people, the thick leather hides do less to keep him from freezing as to allow him to remain cool now that he has traveled abroad. Any portion of his body can and will freeze if it is severed from his person, as the spirit of Ice reclaims it as its own. This includes, but is certainly not limited to, blood and hair, though the former actually must extend outside his body in order to freeze. Effectively, this means it will not freeze within a puncture wound, but instead form an icy cap overtop where the skin otherwise would be. Additionally, because his core temperature is so cold, the very air Espin breathes can be exhaled, though only with intent, as a vapor cold enough to freeze the water droplets in the air and make it appear as if it is snowing. This is of course limited to the normal breathing capacity of any well exercised human and can not coat any significant area. What is important to note about this, however, is through careful control, he can exhale through a controlled form, such as a circle formed by his own fingers, and shape a construction of solid ice, though it is limited in diameter to that of the form he uses. The length of such a construction is determined only by the number of breaths he can manage to exhale during its creation. Such must be done successively and without interruption or it can not continue to be expanded upon. <link to be added here> Vital Statistics: Espin stands at 5’7” as a rather rotund man of 210 lbs. Despite approaching middle age, he still remains exceptionally fit, though many may see the working of his muscles under the isolating layer of his fat far too late. Weaponry: Espin carries a metal ice axe with a sturdy loop of animal sinew attached to its handle. The weapon gleams prominently, as not only is it exceptionally well cared for, but his other weapons are all made of bone. Besides a hunting knife, he also can also remove the ribbings of his outermost coat, for they function not only well as armoring but also as balanced throwing daggers. Secondary physical description: Obviously a man of a land where the thick ice never thaws, Espin carries himself with dignity and self-confidence. His bushy brown hair, speckled with its first grey sins of aging, is grown long, falling just barely passed his shoulders and a full but well tended beard covers his chin and trails proudly down onto his chest. The rest of his form is rather difficult to discern under thick and multilayered hides, usually leaving one with little more than the impression of a stout, short fellow with dark, intelligent eyes. Background: Hailing from the same village as Enya, Espin lived a very different life, despite the very close childhood they shared together. When her role as Firekeeper was discovered, she became destined to be aloof, serving as a revered and untouchable treasure, as she alone provided life-giving warmth to all the people of their tribe. He, however, was gifted with control over Ice, meant to serve as their chief hunter, for only he could hope to guide them through the frozen wastes to game during otherwise deadly ice storms. Where she was always held at arm’s distance in order to honor her, he was provided with companionship and encouraged to marry, a pressure to which he submitted, for the sake of his tribe rather than love. Now many years later, Enya has disappeared. She had promised to return after her participation in the Elemental Championships, but neither sign nor word of her has reached the village. While the tribe has managed to survive through the efforts of her young successor, the girl is, frankly, flighty and unreliable and many have become sick of her presence despite her necessity. Thus it was determined that one would be sent to find what they could of the missing woman, and volunteers were requested. With no hesitation, Espin took up the role. The tribe might have difficulties without him, but they would still be able to survive; his recent efforts to stockpile food, hides, and whalezard oil aiding his argument to be allowed to quest for their missing Firekeeper. Now, armed as best as he could manage and wielding one of the tribe’s few and valuable metal tools, Espin brings his search to Enya’s last known location: The Elemental Championships. Approved. Let's see how well you try to uphold your title from last year. ~Ronin
