  • TheSin -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 0:08:09)

    The game is very good IMO. Some feedback:

    - Mercs make the game too easy, they are currently way too strong.
    - The lightning spell says it does 2 x the max damage of your weapon, but mine seemed to just do about 20 more damage than the max, not double it.
    - If your shield stamina gets knocked to EXACTLY 0 and is still up, it will begin to regenerate, and continue to do so even if you get hit as long as you hold the space bar. This makes you invincible and you can just spam spells until the enemy is dead. This is obviously some glitch.
    - After level 6 when you upgrade your shield, and get a level 6 weapon, the game is extremely easy. I hope to see much much more.
    - The fact that certain area's always have 2 mobs makes farming extremely easy since you can swipe the screen hitting both.

    I like the storyline and text though, and smooth animation (at least for me on my comp). Timing took a little bit to get used to but once I had it down it was very fun and effective.
    I don't understand exactly what the weight of a weapon has to do with anything. Some weapons were heavier than others but still had shorter times to be usable again. So if weight does not affect time of re-use of the weapon then what does it mean?

    Keep it up!
    Glad I could be of help and a beta tester.

    Yourleftsock -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 0:14:05)

    I have some bugs for the list: Sorry in advance if they don't go here

    After any of the skeletons attack the animation for their head freezes and after the body finishes its animation they rejoin.

    When your shield get destroyed sometimes it likes to freeze mid-screen but you still take damage and won't disappear until the bar partially regenerates. I have had the frozen shield even transfer between battles.

    SlyCooperFan1 -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 0:18:28)

    Another bug that should be mentioned is, when you're using the merc that looks like the AQW pet, if the damage is above 10 on each attack, the last digit of each of those attacks will appear in the top-left corner.

    Leader -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 2:10:43)

    I've noticed some of those bugs too, but not regularly. This game is great for it's Beta stage and I can't wait to see it improve in the future. The storyline is great too, sometimes though, when in battle against 2 opponents it usually starts going wild after I shield and the pointer doesn't calibrate in time.

    Overall awesome game guys! Keep it up. [;)]

    2046808 -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 2:16:57)

    This is a great game, took me a couple hours to get to lvl 10, totally worth it. I noticed some of those bugs as mentioned earlier, they're no big deal at the moment, after all it is in it's Beta phase. But yea great game, only problem I had was that the Attack, I found it hard considering I'm using a laptop to play my games and it was hard for me to have both hands so close, one on "V" and the spacebar and the other on the mousepad. I'm not complaining, I just found it a little difficult and would be nice if they implemented some new way to attack.

    beta tester DY -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 5:44:41)

    Its a fun and addictive game, but i found a glitch where when you ran out of shield stamina, your shield stays on (but doesn't protect you). I also found a bit of difficulty using the magic. The mercenary non-mem pet is the best!! :)
    Cheers :)

    BlueKatz -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 7:34:46)

    The problem that I normally face is when you open the Spell list during that battle, it lag a lot. There should be a quick spell option

    Josh245 -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 7:40:44)

    Very nice game. Although I expected less lag with shield. But still fun. I love those merc gnomes.

    PyroPuppy -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 7:46:55)

    Overall, this new system is great, and I really want to see some more options and games with this first person sword fighting feature. The things that I want to change and add are:
    -Spell shortcuts, make it easier. I know the idea is to have one spell (or maybe it isn't), but even that you can switch between them it takes a lot of time. So, shortcuts such us keys (z,x,c,v) or using the mouse wheel, with a text that shows the current equipped spell, so you won't confuse while scrolling.
    -In the third dragon battle, the dragon has 2 attacks, the fast tail hit, and the slow fire breathing. Each slow attack deals more damage, but you can see when it is coming so you can already raise your shield. In this dragon flame breath, the hit itself happens when he move is wings, and not when he breaths the fire, which makes it really hard to defence against such strong attack.
    -Some more options, like different attacks that you can add to different keys. For an example, if you press 'S' you go to stabbing mode, which is harder to avoid, but deals much less damage which makes the battle longer and harder.
    -As been said before, the game has a lots of lag, which makes it harder to hit the enemy while the enemy keeps hitting you. Casting spells with lags is also very hard, because the line is drawn only a second after you really draw it. Maybe adding some more options such disable spells animation, no background and more will help to reduce the lag.
    -For some reason, you the damage text is selectable, so if you accidentally select the damage number from your last hit it will cut your attack in the middle which makes you deal less to even no damage.
    That it for now! It is still a great game, and I hope those suggestions will be implemented.

    BlueKatz -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 8:42:42)

    Agree, the dragon on the stair is just too hard, much harder than the final boss (dragon too)

    I beat the game without paying and being lv 7 :D such challenge. The Block skills is pretty strong.

    Also there's one thing confuse me, when the dragon fall down, the water should be blue isn't it

    Mechajin -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 11:28:22)

    @Bluekatz: The color of water is reflected from the sky, and seeing as it's Night-Time when you fight the dragon it's black.

    BlueKatz -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 11:34:52)

    ya...i think on my computer it look at lot like coal 8D

    niennanir -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 11:42:53)

    I'm seeing an error where if I try to cast before I raise my shield then my shield will not raise. I have to do it the other way around. I'm ok with this for now but I'd like to get in a proper bug report.

    I actually played it on my wii last night. I don't have a keyboard so I had to play a lower level monster because I didn't have a shield available. I'm thinking of investing in one though because the game play was a lot more fun. For the record the performance was better on my wii than on my laptop.... time for a new laptop!! LOL

    BlueKatz -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 12:44:25)

    There should also be a resize or remove the sentences below, I click out and Space make the page scroll and it's annoying

    hebisonic -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 14:32:28)

    Doesn't work right on chrome, when you have your shield up the cursor doesn't go where you tell it too. plus way to hard to play with a trackball, only about one in five attempted slashes actually makes an attack. (or it could be something to do with firefox)

    Ranloth -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 14:38:04)

    @above
    I have Chrome too but doesn't happen to me.. Maybe because I have Ubuntu though.

    Anyway, my own feedback ^_^
    Positive:
  • Storyline so far was good, some good pictures and characters
  • Monsters were good for their level, although some difficulties but it was even better
  • Easy to play, even your mum can play it! (love that quote from Mibbit xD)

    Negative:
  • Spells were a bit boring, especially the ones with DoT.. The same spell but different animation
  • BP made game waaaaay to easy, and it's also bad for those who don't get any Offers at all + can't buy them
  • Lack of quests, areas, etc, for those who finished already
  • Storyline was a bit short.. I finished it by reaching L8 and finishing off the Dragon

  • Nebula -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 15:24:27)

    Very fun, and extreemely addictive, game. I loved the first little storyline. Its also cool that its about
    spoiler:

    King Alteon's
    past. =)
    The Gnomes are also very useful and great pet for my non-member alt account. =)

    Spoiler tags added. Please don't spoil the game for anyone who hasn't played it yet. In the future use

    Zeraldo -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 17:21:57)

    The lag I was experiencing yesterday is gone. This mini-game is A+ material. Keep up the good work!

    Slayernator -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 17:35:20)

    im not sure if it's just me, but every time i exit the game even though i press save character, it never seems to save, and so every time i reopen the game i have to start from scratch again =="

    Orrin8181 -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 18:34:59)

    Loving it so far, but i can't seem to beat the Undead Barbarian Boss, her "scream" hits too hard, too fast :(.\

    And @Hebi I'm on chrome too, and it's clean for me. But the sword swinging could be improved..unless its just my mouse that spazzes every now and then.

    Great game AE, you've done it again!

    ATyger -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 18:45:50)

    Alright, a few things before I get too deep.

    Bugs/Annoyances:
    When I cast a spell, but it works best with the Stun spell, if I cast it and the opponent dies, and then reenter a battle soon after, the battle starts with the spell being recast (freely) and makes the battle that much easier. (this doesn't happen 100% of the time, and it doesn't work with every spell, namely the poison spell. (and it's only for the one extra battle.)

    I too have noted that if your shield is at perfect zero it makes you all but invincible. As it will regenerate.

    I actually have had no issues with the save/load feature, whether saving myself or having it autosave/load for me. (huh?)

    It's incredibility annoying that when you equip a spell from the magic menu and push the v key it doesn't drop the magic menu, instead it keeps the menu up and places the spell behind it, which costs time.

    Game:
    Okay, the basic story line is interesting, and has merit in the general sense, there is so much more you can do with it though. I enjoyed all the battles, and thanks to the Undead Banshee, and the Dragon I was able to die at least 10 times. *wink*, but eventually I was able to figure out how to beat them with ease.

    The Gnomes are a huge help, but I think you should get a bonus if you invest in all three like I did, since you can only use one per battle. (basically, I wasted 9k gold for the fact that I wanted the set.)

    For the love of God, please allow us to quick key at least three spells, even two would be amazing, it's so annoying to have to lose a quarter of your shield to cast one then go in and change it to cast another, etc...

    A good strategy would be to hold up the level 10 (or 6) shield, cast stun from v, open magic menu and cast these spells, shield, lightning, shield, stun, shield, lightning, etc... rinse and repeat. As long as you keep the shield up and running, you should be able to beat any boss from behind the shield.

    Msm -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/15/2010 21:45:15)

    A great game altogether, A couple bugs I found that others haven't seemed to mention, after getting over 100 000 gold I didn't recieve the hero of gold achivement, and for them mercs. If you use one near the end of a battle then start the next battle quickly the merc. from the last battle will still be attacking (and do damage) but you can still summon another one, effectivly bein able to summon 2 mercs in one battle.
    Edit: achievment fixed, merc. bug still working

    Numberz -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/16/2010 8:58:12)

    I appreciate AE trying to make a first person kind of game. But the basic controls and the fact you have to spend money on it if you want any cool stuff ruins it. The enemy's also have no "weak points" or any clues that its the time to attack, you just have to slash randomly until your lucky enough to hit them. And giving most enemies the ability to block/dodge makes it worse.

    ~Numbahz

    Sailor Aries -> RE: =PG= Gameplay Feedback Thread (10/16/2010 13:36:11)

    I very much like the more involved feel of the fighting in this one. The attacks are a bit trickier on a laptop track pad than they might be with a mouse, but if you go for quick jabs rather than major strikes, it works out fine. It might also be interesting to have special attacks or strike sequences/combinations that function similar to the spell casting system.

    The only other thing I might suggest is allowing the player to skip cutscenes after the first time. It would also be nice if the Mount Fouldoom boss could be fought without leading directly into the end sequence... (That surprised me when I went back to fight that boss again!)
