I am not a fan of randomly tossing discussion about a subject into a specific thread since usually that causes bedlam and confusion, but there have been copious threads started almost daily regarding this controversial feature. As such, this shall be the official thread for fame and all matters related to fame. How do you feel about fame? Do you want fame gone completely? Do you feel that fame can stay if there are certain limitations imposed? If so, what are limitations on fame you would place? Discuss here!

How do you feel about fame? It sucks. Do you want fame gone completely? Yes. Do you feel that fame can stay if there are certain limitations imposed? Maybe. If so, what are limitations on fame you would place? Remove both leaderboards, and remove rising star achievment. Oh and it might be good to remove facebook comments from character pages, all I see is spam.

How do you feel about fame? Its a completely pointless and useless addition to the game. I really don't know what staff were thinking when they made it. They're supposed to be working on things like 2v1 and varium sellback but no they give us this. Do you want fame gone completely? Yes. It shouldn't have even be thought of. How do you feel about fame? Its Breaking the Game, This game should be PvP not Fame contest , most players stop playing and asking F4F , its wrong Do you want fame gone completely? Achivments can stay but remove the both leaderboards , Fame is a good thing if only seen in Charpages ( what is the Todays Fame leaderboard :S , Its basicly new Battle mode which doesnt fit PvP )

How do you feel about fame? I quite like the idea, it's something which i have never before seen in a game and i am fond of the idea behind it. Even though it does not have much use at the moment i believe giving the team time to expand and think on ideas on how to improve it will benefit from the feature. Do you want fame gone completely? No, if it were removed then the achievements would not have needed to be and the time spent creating all this would be pointless. Plus the Leaderboards would be scrapped and the time spent people trying to get onto them would be lost, and from what i have seen a vast majority of people seem rather determined to be on there which is good as it shows determination and communication (however slight) amongst players. Besides, i believe any new addition to a game has potential in the long run, it just needs time. Do you feel that fame can stay if there are certain limitations imposed? I see in game that people often get annoyed, or are even rude towards those asking for fame, i believe if it were made so that you can fame only after battling someone (so you feel like it is being earned rather than just "there" like clicking the arrow button) If so, what are limitations on fame you would place? if people ask for fame i just say if i see u a few times in 2v2/1v1 then ill fame and thats it. takes about 5 seconds to do it and it makes people happy. i couldnt care less anymore. the game is great fun [even with mercs running rampant] and im gonna carry on enjoying it.

How do you feel about fame? Absolutely hate it. Basically whoever is the most active in begging is the most famous, I cross my fingers every time I 2vs2 that 'm not with EldiestPriest. He is a beggar. I'm serious, you should not be in the same room as him. Do you want fame gone completely? No. I just want fame to be a thing that is earned, not begged. Who is better: Steve Jobs/Bill Gates or Beggar Dude that earned 5 bil USD? Bill Gates because he EARNED his cash. Fay Beee and Comicalbiker/BLUEBIRD NO 1 deserve the fame. So does Angels Holocaust and Buffy. And the KIND, NICE, people that actually did something that everyone knows about. Do you feel that fame can stay if there are certain limitations imposed? xD, Yup! How about, fame, f@m3, f@me, and fam3 be banned from chat? That would stop people from asking for fame. Also ban fame (and alternate fame) from Facebook.\ If so, what are limitations on fame you would place? I believe Ialready mentioned that, also a maximum of 100 fames a day. Also, some people use multiple computers and browsers to get more fame.*

I usually don't agree with Nubula, because of his normally caustic way of thinking and replying, but in all honesty, fame needs to go, PERMANENTLY. This is PvsP, not fame4fameVSfame4fame. I think one of the problems here is that the ED team thinks they can keep us occupied with these little bit and piece in each update to keep us distracted from past promises. This is rather deplorable, and very disappointing.

I just want to say again, promises in ED do not exist. if they said "pay for this and you will get it" and had a contract to deliver what was promised then either you would get it or you would sue them. I am 100% sure that if they could deliver every feature that everyone wanted they would but at the end of the day, this is a business, and anything that potentially generates revenue comes ahead of what the longterm players really want. you can call me a brown nose all you want, I just think your all being overly petulant.

fame has been nothing but a begging contest. we should get 1 fame per win or something other then how it is now. at this rate people will all together stop fighting and just sit at oz 7 crying for fame.

I personally view fame as a feature that promotes elitism. (Basically: I R MOAR POP-U-LAR DEN U) Not only that, but it can discourage others who may not be as "famous" as others. We all know the other issue, "FAMEZ 4 FAMZEZORZ!" pushes beggar away and we know that the recent update just did this, "FAMEZ MAH NAO, FAMEZ4FAMZEZ!" So now that we have that established, let's get into my solution. Fame used as an Overall Score Being famous in this game wasn't about clicking a, excuse my french, freakin' UserPage. It was determined by the numbers of wins, losses, and how helpful the player was. Now, taking this into thought, let's bring up faction scores. Faction scores are determined by several factors: Faction Wins, Flag Points, and Faction War wins. (forgive me for excluding anything) With this being said, instead of using fame as a tool for beggars who want to be "faked famous" let's give players work for that right. On paper, the concept of fame was probably a good idea. I even think it was a good concept. However, it was executed the wrong way. You must take the concept and apply it to your community. You'd have to treat it like a scientific hypothesis, "If fame will give the more notable and popular, then the lesser players will begin to beg." My solution for Fame is that it be calculated as a total overall amount of various factors. What factors would effect this? -Wins -Rarity Score -Achievement Score -Faction Score(only viable if you had been a faction founder after faction scores were released) -Number of Missions Completed -Houses Owned As you can see, it's a combination of various game aspects. THAT is how fame should be calculated. As for those who already got achievements, etc. it's really simple, adjust the scoring, and number of points to get an achievement, if some people already have one of the achievements, but do not have enough points after the switch, let them keep the achievement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now, this next part is purely a suggestion, but I decided to include it in here. You can keep the UserPage button, and just turn it into "page hits." and for every 20 page hits, the user could receive 50 credits. So that the feature isn't entirely wasted. Opinions? Comments? Criticism?

Do you feel that fame can stay if there are certain limitations imposed? If Fame stays, they should limit it to one vote per person FORVER. In doing this the fame scores would be deducted to fit the new requirement. ~Zean

@lotus, Great idea. this is an amazing why to fix this mess. it would give a purpose to houses, missions and rating scores. pvp is about skill, not pleading.

How do you feel about fame? I don't think it was the best idea, but I'm not fully against it. Although I feel the fame leaderboards and achievements have got people asking for it more often. @Jehannum I highly doubt you'll see an increase of "pagehit so I can get 50 credits!". You can get 50+12 credits within 2 battles(1v1). While getting 20 page hits could take a while, 2 battles are quick.

I have been completely annoyed at this addition to the game, not because it doesnt add much, but it has led to the rise of 'fame4fame' people, and an awful lot more begging. its almost like the trading problems, aside from its not a huge target for those that hack and there are no benefits to the system Do you want fame gone completely? However, the pagehit thing (explained above) could work better in terms of amount of spam-talking If so, what are limitations on fame you would place? It must be tossed in a lake of fire, attacked by thirteen (the most powerful number for doom) hordes of undead pirates, broken under a car, its remnants dissolved in acid and then left on the peak of mount everest for a couple of years ... then i may consider it coming back as something changed by those experiences, and entirely new. It must also save the world, and have watched all the dragonball z abridged episodes, and completed the impossible quiz (all the way to 110, no cheating, and the computer version, not the ipod touch/iphone version)

Do you feel that fame can stay if there are certain limitations imposed? maybe If so, what are limitations on fame you would place? instead of having players "fame" u. u do stuff like being on any leaderboard at the end of the daygets u fame points. winning a daily 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 give u fame points. beating NPCs like big tuna give u fame points. beating bosses give u fame points. doing quests give u fame points. these are good ways of having fame not the usual noob walking around asking "fame for fame"

I Will Continue To Remain Publicly "Silent" On My VERY Passionate Stance On Fame In Epic Duel. However...I Will Point Out A "Problem" Which Reveals My View... Today A Complete (NOBODY)... I Mean, Unknown Player... Spammed For 350 Votes In One Day. There Are Several Ways To Do This, From Begging For Votes, Trading Votes, And Even Using Multiple IP Addresses And "Social" Sites...To Get Votes. In One Day, This Player Got More Votes Than 99% Of The ED Players Had Each Received For Themselves In Over One Week. Obviously, This Fame Feature Can Be Abused And Expolited. For The Admins To Have Not Forseen This As An Issue Was Foolish, To Say The Least. I Will Ask You All This... Is This What You Want For YOUR Epic Duel? Which Is, And (Used To Be) A PvP Battle System. Do You Like The Direction This Game Is Going? As Oppossed To...Let's Say, NEW BATTLE MODES? And Most Importantly, On Topic, Is This Person Actually FAMOUS In Game? Well Known? Accomplished In The "History" Of ED Somehow? Doesn't That Say Something About This "Fame" System? Feel Free To Discuss Amongst Yourselves.
