Satan I really don't agree that Titan and Nightwraith keep Buffy here just for her money. You see they could replace Buffy rather easily with other paying customers that wouldn't be as controversial as Buffy. Maybe they keep Buffy here for some warped amusement. :D

so long as the begging could be restrained, i would accept this feature. I don't find any real interest in it, but others do, and passionately by the sound of some of the posts in here. Its getting close to being out-of-hand. I, myself, am not at all interested, and would only rather see it go because the amount of those that beg. If they didnt beg so much, the feature could be ignored by those wishing to ignore it. P.S. @either side of this argument - i am not in any faction, so you cannot dismiss my post because of that, it is my true and honest view. If you dont like it, feel free to complain, what do i care. My opinion is what i get to say on these forums, and i will say it, and say it well, if not epicly.

Like ive said atleast a dozen times, I hate it. But if its gonna serve a greater purpose then begging so be it(just hurry and show us the real purpose, and yes i mean other then achievements), I have somewhat joined the crowd of the so called Fame beggers but i do not ask for it, im the guy that says sure when asked. But once i get to 500, well should i say IF i ever get to 500 ile be happy. Oh and i gotta throw this in, "Jeez....and they call us the trolls".

@above I've need been fully against f4fing. I just dislike it when it's spammed by "said zealous users". I will f4f but I rarely initiate the question. If someone asks me, of course I'm going to be polite.

If you have something unrelated to discuss with another member, you can do so via PMs. I've gone ahead and removed the off-topic posts. You could always change it, from Fame to Beggar. This way the achievements could stay and the beggars get the "fame" they deserve.

I thought this was a discussion on fame and not delusions of grandeur. My spider senses tell me that fame or "lack of" is going to some players heads. Also ... Buffy ... the entire faction of RM are hardly interested in your posts and quite a few don't even come to the AE forums. Sorry to tell you that you are not the centrepiece on our table. Your only cranky because Satan called you out for being the biggest fame spammer that is offering players varium to fame you. If its not you at OZ world 7 then its Heart Zel demanding (not asking but demanding) we fame you. This fame thing was a huge mistake. It won't be taken away because I know our admin too well and I know they will not modify anything to help the nasty spam situation they are putting us through. ^Nice take on it Concrete. Yeah use it in reverse ... you can go from fame all the way to down and out beggar.

I was fighting a war on my alt about Fame with Lotus,and Zeal Overlord First of all.... Zeal begs for fame and he never famed a low level... People like him beg for fame and they get on the LB. Its quite funny how players like him don't beg or ask for fame but they arn't on the LB. Lotus only fames people who ask him.Thats quite nice,but the begging needs to leave ED

Almost no famous players are even on the fame leaderboard. Can you honestly say if this was based on how many people ACTUALLY know about you that people like me, barney, g00ny and arcanis wouldnt be on that list?

@ voidance, buffy only tried to get back on topic to suck up to the ak like always and @ xen, EXACTLY. skilled, talented, true "famous" players have abandoned this system because theres no reason for it. people used to gain "fame" though ability(win ratio,amount of wins, helpfulness), and charisma(respect, and moral). now it seems like everyone has became a hobo ( CHANGE!!!, CHANGE!!!!!!,, FAME!!!!!!!!!!!). the only way we can fix this is to change how fame is calculated. maybe add 5 fame per vote, then add in other parameters such as wins, ratio, faction score, achievements, houses owned, missions done, and ratings(forgive me if i missed anything)

I'm let buffy handle that comment. Thats a dumb idea, why would fame be effected by things such as houses and missions, not to mention achievements and rating are basicly the same thing so to factor but in would be stupid.

How do you feel about fame? I don't really care for it, but it's a pretty good aspect of the game, just needs more work arounds. Do you want fame gone completely? I wouldn't really mind either way. Be able to fame people from their stat page, and not their character page. Only being able to fame during battle, and not outside of battle.

I think there is far less mystery to the reason we have had “Fame” crammed down our throat than we are admitting. Ed is not the Ma and Pa operation it once was. It is a part of Artix Entertainment. It is corporate. Now, parts of that suck. It means that player input and players wants become a distant priority. If you look at it from an economic stand point they have 3 main sources of income (Game currency packages, Ads, and merchandise). Game currency packages are what we like to think is the most influential on these forums, and I am talking about myself here. We pound our chests and demand varium buy back and a trade system and a million other things that aren’t in line with the current model of any of the other AE games. Face it, Ed is in the AE family and like it or lump it they will do things the AE way. The reality is that they already have “us” and they have to focus on “them”. They aim their resources and updates on increasing the player base. Which has more to do with Ads (# of people online for longer durations = more ad $). Fame is for “them”, it has nothing to do with “us”. We are the poor unfortunate souls who simply have no choice but to be subjected to it if we want to play ED. On the flip side of this are the parts that no one wants to look at and admit that it is in our best interest. AE has a successful MMORPG business model. If ED were to continuously deviate from that model at the whims of its players and end up collapsing we would be no better off. I think we attack the Ed team with the accusation that they do nothing, when really most are mad that they aren’t doing what “we” want them to do. They are two very different things. Do I hate fame? With all my heart. Do I think its going away? Not a chance. For the same reasons , I highly doubt you will ever see any of the other main requests we constantly see on here ever happen.
