aqwshadowking14 -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 1:12:54)

Well I do think its overpriced, I think ED has to understand that all permenant rares need to a lower price. I liked this game when bunnyzookas were only $20. If ED thinks about it, they actually gain more if they left every promo from $20 to $35.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 1:26:39)

With Rixty items, only $20 was needed for the lowest varium package to obtain. Artix upgrade card was exactly the same for the Bunnyzookas.

Rixty was a new feature when the swords were released. Not only were they were valid in this game, but also in AQW too.
http://aqwwiki.wikidot.com/rixty-ripper

And with a $20 upgrade card, one was able to obtain 2 sets (low/high level) auxes. And if I am correct, the same option was available for aqw for a chocolate bunny pet
http://aqwwiki.wikidot.com/choco-bunny

The promo items should be near equal costs of standard varium weapons.

It is amazing to think, the game values rares more in stats, power, status, over already in-game store items. And if anyone who has Varium, in-game, they are paying a taxed rate. Essentially when a person buys Varium, for special or promo items, inflation takes place.

If a standard price item already costs 1k varium why do they add 1.5k price tag along with over the top credits requirement. The Eggzooka's were 2200 varium and same inflated credits.

Value of new money is more important it seems instead of already paid customers.

The Promos are already free of Varium and credit cost, so that should be the incentive to get them if one wishes for them as a promo, but to tax existing varium holders the "Premium" price tag is extremely unkind. The cycle continues to be repeated over and over.

pinoy idols -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 7:29:24)

I only have 2 things to say:

FIRST, AE should reduce the prices of the Varium packages. I mean, 50 bucks? Converting that to Philippine cash, that's 50*43.29= around 2k Php. that's already our monthly electric bill. I am living proof of this:
quote:

Every promo that was added in game, was either a Holiday promo, or like in the Rixty Rippers case, something that couldn't be bought easily in certain countries.
I think the prices should be reduced to around 30-40 bucks for the full 10k package. It's simply ridiculous. The prices just remind me of the rampant CORRUPTION in my country.

SECOND, AE should expand their payment options. I mean, of all payment options currently available, only some are available in the Philippines: Credit card payment and PayPal. Aside from those, Rixty, Coinstar, Cherry Credits, Ult. Game Card, none of 'em exist here. If AE added Western Union and Cebuana Lhuillier to its list of payment options, I'd be happy enough 'coz they're the only available remittance options here.

Lately, I've had a feeling that buying varium is now a requirement, just so you could win battles and have access to REAL useful gear.

@the guy above jzaanu yeah stuff here's really overpriced. I suspect that AE 's been cooperating w/ former. pres. Gloria Arroyo, known for being very CORRUPT.
@below of course I do, im just joking about that

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 7:48:07)

@pinoy idols

Your conspiracy theories are amusing. You do know that AE is a US-based company, right?

I am pleased to see that most responses have been civil and rational, despite this topic's touchy nature. I too feel that either or both the cost of varium and the in-game item varium prices should decrease. This would also result in less tension, less individual expenditure, but more people being willing to buy varium and thus greater overall profits for the devs. A true win-win situation.

Khannibal -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 7:53:04)

I support this topic, and in doing so, one of the issues arises;

Khannibal, Xendran, JZannu, Shadronica, Angels Holocaust, there are 5 Founder's and in some cases, Elite's and Alpha players, who believe that the exceptional amount of money required to obtain some high tier equips is ridiculous.

As Wiseman stated, we do not HAVE to buy these items, but we would lose unnecessarily if we did not, it just seems the game is extracting as much financial income as possible in a very short period of time, which is worrying me, I think there may be an underlying reason behind this.

It dissapoints me that Founders, not just varium players, but those who fully supported your ideas and progress before this game became what it is now, are being completely undermined, I would really like a direct answer from Nightwraith or Titan, I understand Cinderella is our link to the Devs, for which I am truly greatful, but if the creators of the game cannot speak with us, how will they truly know how we feel about their work?

This game is only in the Gamma stages, I doubt very much that once this 2D Flash Game is fully released, it will get any cheaper. It is wrong for anyone to say, "You can quit whenever you like", I've not been on much this year due to University and at some points boredom, but I have followed the updates and been on when I can, would you spend $300 on a Television, and because you need extra components to make it operate at maximum effectiveness, just leave it in a corner to gather dust? The answer is no, we aren't here to spend money and leave because we are disatisfied at present, we are here to have our say, be heard, and get what we paid for.

We need answers, and co-operation, the other AE forums have Staff communicate with paying players. We need it too.

Khannibal

Shadronica -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 8:00:50)

I feel that everyone is slightly missing the point here.

This new extreme marketing ploy is most aggressive. If they start introducing items in the $50 package ONLY and not available in game it means that future promo items will have to be bought for the $50. There won't be an option to buy them with the varium we have already purchased.

Mark my words if this is the latest marketing strategy being put into place then I will be truly disgusted with Artix Entertainment and I am positive that I will not be the only one.

Who on earth is coming up with these marketing ideas for EpicDuel? Whoever it is they are trying to sabotage this game.

Polandor -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 8:31:34)

So what do i do with my high cost varium already in my account ?

Since they worth nothing give us a 100% pro-rata sell back, so we can use the money to buy 10k varium pack...

We had plenty of special bonus weapon already, stun is not the first special effect.
Azraels Bane 5% chance to get crit on normal strikes Celtic Clever 7% chance to connect on normal strikes

You trying to find logic behind 2 items for 50$, there is no logic beside greed.

Varium are worth nothing now.

RKC -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 11:34:03)

The staff is indirectly forcing us to buy the 50$ package.

Zean Zapple -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 12:31:57)

JZaanu, this is how I've felt for a long time! Back, and I hate to say it because it is so abused, in Beta there was a promo or two every once in a while.

The releases were mainly patches, bug fixes and the occasional weapon/Rare. Some people may have complained about how releases wouldn't come for weeks at a time, but honestly it kept the majority satisfied, and the true lovers of ED stuffed.

m16dern warfare -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 13:04:44)

they just want to reward players who support them. remember you can get varium fro free. im alreayd working for mah next 10k package using battleon! points for free! i need 8500 more to go!!!!

http://www.epicduel.com/charpage.asp?id=M16DERN%20WARFARE this is mah character which ive used so far 2 10k varium packages. I got for free doing surveys.

I have no complaints about this game because it's aweosme!!!!

Khannibal -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 13:09:45)

@5rr5

That was not only completely irrelevant, completely off topic, but completely disrespectful to a very serious topic.
Promo is short for Promotional, so a Promotional offer would be like, a royal wedding, and a Royal item being added ingame for a limited time to commemorate said event, but added as an extra item to a current standing offer, such as the 10,000 varium package.

Soliqe -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 14:58:58)

quote:

Guys, the last promo item that was updated in ED was 6 weeks ago. The Bunny Zookas were ingame April 8th. That was the last time there was a full varium weapon in the game for $50. There is one important thing I would like to add: You dont have to buy varium, it's just a bonus feature to the game. So maybe there is a weapon or two you want that you cant get. Its alright, there will be plenty of other chances to get equally or better weapons. Also guys, you complain about features in the game, yet if you spent more time actually creating a reasonable method for ED to make a membership or any other feature im sure the Devs would listen to you guys. Please remember, just complaining about something doesn't get you anywhere. Taking the incentive to achieve that goal or new feature is where the real effort comes in.

@Practel

Don't give me this ED Dev generated crap. they say this to shoo away the haters. You're right, we don't have to buy Varium. BUT WE ARE INVESTORS. WE KEEP THE GAME RUNNING.

*ahem*

There have been many people who've made reasonable and very well constructed proposals, but the staff don't listen. Instead, they listen to the little selfish mob which presents the majority of younger players 13 and below(because they yell, kick, and scream the loudest).

I had faith in this game, but once the founder update hit, I quit trying because I was only being told, "Oh that's nice. Mhmm Great Idea," *few weeks later* "Sorry, that's still in development" Bull...

I'm done playing tag with the developers. They are great with coding and art, but they have no idea how to run their business aspect of the game.

Cinderella -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 15:33:30)

I don't set the varium prices, but I do apologize for them being high. However, we did put an exclusive weapon that really isn't a must-have- 5% stun is not that much, and the stats and damage aren't OP. We put in a weapon for the promo item that was not OP or a game-changer, which was a complaint about the Promo weapons.

Wiseman -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 15:46:54)

I decided to post again, because this has progressed into something a bit different, it's no longer just about this release.

They are not selling two guns for 50$, the money is for the varium package, the guns are a BONUS that comes FREE with the varium package. They could have no promos and just keep the varium package, and that would be within their full rights. However they choose to add promos to the package because it gives players more bang for their buck, on one hand it is a strategy to sell more 50$ packs, on the other hand they want their players to get MORE than what they paid for.

Promo items should have always been a bonus for those players that paid for the package, however they started adding them in game because some promos where hard to obtain in certain countries. They did that because they wanted all of their players to have a chance at the items, however that is not the case with all promos. The ones that are sold in the 50$ package are obtainable by all players including ones who don't live in the US. They do not have to make any of those promos available in game, however they did, for an entire year. That is what the problem is, everyone has come to expect them to do that every time, to the point where they buy varium before promos come out because they assume the item will automatically have an in game price. However this time that is not the case, and suddenly it's an outrage that the developers didn't do something that they never had to do in the first place, and that they where doing out of generosity.

It's not a conspiracy, they are just going back to the basics, back when ED was in its so called golden era "December 2009-March 2010" ALL promos where available in the packages, but not in the game. Then they started adding the promos into the game, and that's when ED started it's apparent downhill slide many players keep talking about. I'm not saying that's why they did this, however if you think about it, they made the best sells and had the happiest players, back when the promos where only offered as a bonus for the packages.

My suggestion to anyone that this release upset because you already have varium and don't need more, is that from this point forward, do not get the varium till you have a reason to. Once you buy the Artix Points (AP), you have already paid, whether the points go to AQW, AQ, DF, MQ, HS, or ED is irrelevant, once you buy the AP the company has made the profit. What that means is, instead of buying varium, SAVE YOUR AP, until a good 10k package is offered, or something nice is added in game that you want. Also never purchase more varium than you need at the time, if you only need about 5k for a weapon + enhancements, then you should get the 5k package, that way you will have more AP left over for large promos.

Once you buy your points, you have supported the company, and spent your money, what you do with your points afterword is up to you. It doesn't matter if you spend it on ED or one of the other AE games, the money for the points all goes to the same place. So the key to success is to save your points for when you see a great offer "like a good 10k pack promo" instead of just spending it all at once for extra varium you may never need.

A lot of the players that enjoy this release, where the ones that save their points for just this sort of thing, and many of them are also long time supporters who have spent old and new money on the game. Buying varium has nothing to do with money old or new because you get varium with AP not money, your money goes toward the AP, and whether its old money or new money saving your AP for special offers is always a good idea.

In Summery: Instead of hording your Varium, save your Artix Points instead, in the end that is a much better strategy when paying for any AE game.

On to the next subject.

As I said before the package prices and the in game varium prices can not be lowered now, too many have paid for them at their current price to lower it, and AE will not refund any money/varium to anyone (their disclaimer in the ToS pretty much says AE doesn't do refunds). However what they can do is increase the amount of varium each package gives, to be more fair to the ones paying. For instance on AQW you get 12,000 AC for 40$ and most good in game AC items cost 500-1200 AC, however on ED you get 10,000 varium for 50$ and most good in game varium items cost 900-1400V and class change cost 1500V and enhancements can cost up to 1700V. So I think for the ED price tag to be on par with the AQW one they need to raise the varium that is given for each package, if the 50$ package gave *18,000 varium it would be worth the price, and when you compare the in-game prices to the amount of varium given and add in the extra 10$ cost over AQW it makes sense.

* 18,000 is just used as an example, and may be too high or too low when actually compared to AQW AC received per package.

Soliqe -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 15:59:35)

@above

In regards to your first paragraph, nothing is ever free. It's like me saying, "I'll give you two free tickets to heaven today (since the world is ending and all) for the small low price of $50" Do you not see the contradiction? Free and money do not mix. That's what stupid infomercials do when they're trying to sell Billy May's Oxy Clean. The only small difference with EpicDuel is that you're not shouting our ears off saying, "KABOOM! WORKS LIKE MAGIC! WOW LOOK AT THAT SHINE! KABOOM! AND THE STAIN IS GONE!!!"

Honestly, if you can explain to me how free and money coincide with each other, then I will be amazed and silenced.

I agree with the rest of your post. I honestly don't hoard varium. I'm a need to buy basis. However, that's still not an excuse for the insane varium promos.

Anyways, I believe I've said enough to get my point across.

Crovile V2 -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 16:04:34)

If things were that simple it'd be a lot easy. But Ever since ED came under AE, things just have been turning to worse. Before that it was kinda Player friendly, but after that, well........

A $50 Promo Item, All right. If it had been once or twice a year, still acceptable. But now it seems like a new release every month that demands Varium Purchases. Even the 2v1 Mode. Well, I thought that we were here to battle, didn't realize that I have to pay even to battle.

Buy it or toss ? Yeah, right. That's easier to say when people are born to a rich family or get it free of cost. At times put yourselves in our shoes too. $50 isn't just a mere joke. If you had to scrap every bit of that, you'd know it.

You still want people to have faith ? Right ? But in what ?

@ Wiseman :

quote:

They are not selling two guns for 50$ the money is for the varium package, the guns are a bonus that comes FREE with the varium package.

If you cannot buy with In-Game currency but only gained with Cash then it is called Selling.

What Is ED ? Battle of the Skilled or Playground of the riches ?

Wraith -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 16:09:59)

Seriously people....

No one forces you to buy Varium. You buy Varium for the perks. The *promo* is a BONUS feature. It is like a discount, more of. You don't need to spend Varium buying them now. If you have issues with Varum pricing, see Cindy's post about an apology.

And after checking the sellback for Stun Blaster, it should cost 12k Credits and 995 Varium ingame. So...I do think the Blasters should be put in-game. Nothing wrong with that.

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 16:17:10)

Just put the guns in to game , i have 10 k varium that idk what to do with it and now i should buy more 10k to get the guns so i will have meaningless 20k varium , put the guns with 5k varium in game i dont care but just put them i want to spent my varium.

What will happen when new promos came ??? i should buy more 10k and i will have 30k useless varium.

The promo items should be added in game , the real promos are Gamma Bot and Gamma bike i can understand if you dont put them but you should put the other Rare/Seasonal Rare weapons in game.

This game is all about promos lets compare new guns (stun blaster) and a non rare gun (boomstick)

Stun Blaster - 26 Stats +33 dmg
Boomstick- 21 stats +31 dmg

can you see the difference , non promo items are uped ,promo items not just a bonus things that comes with 10k pack they are the best weapons in game so we should get them to be strong, this game is all about promo items so if this all going to be like this i cant pay 50$ for 2 weps.

Are we asking too much ADD THE PROMOS IN GAME!!!! so we can spent some varium.

EDIT:I bought all promo items with 10k varium pack but now i will not buy it to protest this ridiculous thing your loss Titan / NW / Charfade

ajs777 -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 16:29:05)

Yea i wouldnt mind supporting a game i loved but is was what i dont like is that for what you pay it sure doesnt go far, and i know for a fact i wont get the promo guns because there is NO WAY id be aloud to spend that much at once.... man... i know ED staff needs money for support, but man... so many times you cant help but think they are lookin for ways to suck extra money from you...

Shadronica -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 19:29:20)

Well thank you Wiseman for giving us yet another important announcement that is obscured in a post. [:@]

Now my response to asking us to buy a $50 varium pack to procure these new so called non game changing!!??!!!! items for EVERY upcoming new promotional idea is this ... you are not going to have any long term players left in this game with the exception of Buffy who doesn't mind paying big $$$$ to play a game that is fast becoming the largest "still being tested" money pit game on the net.

I am most disillusioned by the lack of communication from the dev's and most disenchanted with the extremely high cost to play a 2D game that is forever being tested.

If it was announced upfront that to become a decent varium player in this game that it would cost roughly $500 - $1,000+ per year I doubt you would have many varium players at all.

I feel I have been hoodwinked and I find that the explanations (or lack of) hidden behind all these clauses in AE's ToS that we also needed to pay a lawyer to look over before we joined AE is outrageous.

Ashari -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 19:53:05)

@Shadronica: No one is asking you to buy these weapons.

And no one is calling these weapons underpower either... but Wiseman was making this point and I made it as well in the Design Notes thread-- unlike previous promotional weapons which were leagues above the other available equipment, these guns are on par with equipment that was available (Frostbolt Blaster, Skullfire Cannon, and Charfade's Blaster). Charfade's Blaster does keep getting restocked every few weeks too, so I wouldn't even consider all the comparable equipment to be rare.

I don't think it's fair to call this a scam. In fact I feel that this is a step in the right direction. Previously, promotional items were all overpowered compared to other equipment. You had to buy them if you wanted to stay at the top of the competition. By giving us less powerful promo weapons, it makes it more like a bonus rather than a 'must have'.

RKC -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 20:39:23)

@Wiseman

Why didn't the staff include the guns in the 35$ package?

Why the most expensive package? are they trying to pull a knot or something here.

m16dern warfare -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 20:44:11)

wiseman is corrupt. He reminds me of runescape which i hate, i will be making a lengthy post later about this subject.

altimatum -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 21:00:43)

we just bought 50$ worth of varium..... [:(] and now we can't use it to get the new promo?

this is even less cost effective because even if promos are expensive.... you can still get the next couple of promo.

i don't think it is reasonable at all if you buy 10k var for a promo.... only to have the next promo unavailable, leaving that 50$ worth of varium amassing cobwebs.

Polandor -> RE: Choices to Artix and Financial staff (5/21/2011 21:37:11)

Yea Wiseman you get the item for free being a mod...

Your not in our shoes many of us of spend 500$ on this web game, that more than a high tech console + many good gold complete game, yet you come to us, you do not have to buy x item.

First yes we have too, because the top player will have the best gear available and many of us want to compete at that level if not we would not have wasted many hundred of real $.

I have close to 10k varium in my account, that are now worth nothing...

Even the egg zooka could have been bought in game.
