ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/8/2012 22:43:05)

He's a complex character. Not to mention the fact that he's incapable of comprehending evil at this juncture in time...

Somehow I hope Dhows has more of a plan than just being evil for the sake of being evil.... I'm sorry if that really is all there is to him, but I'd rather have an overcomplicated villan than an over-simplified one.
Oh I dunno, the SeekRat did a pretty decent job of that, I think. Though I see your point, having multiple villains like that would probably be pretty boring.

Fortunately, Dhows does have a motivation.

bobyjoe5000 -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 0:42:17)

question: what are the big Sagas in AQ? I know a few:

Devourer Saga
Dracopyre Saga
Bizzare Flecks
Hall of Memories
Chessmaster/Energy Orb Saga
The Absolix Saga (or whatever it is called)
Dracomancer Saga
Zorbak Saga
Seekrat Saga
and to a much lesser extent, Mogbusters

zekefreed777 -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 9:41:34)

I wonder about that... So Dhows is trying to recreate the universe in his own image, which is something that's complicated in and of itself... Interesting.

dethhollow -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 11:43:05)

That's a pretty diffacult task considering Dhows technicly has no real form.... But then again, no one knows what the heck Dhows even is so.... If the Guardian tower grows a cloak then it may just be too late! Lol, wonder if the staff will make a Dhowzard/ Erebuzard.... A disturbing thought indeed....

Darquess -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 12:17:44)

He is probably more simple than we think, but as we cannot understand what he wraps around himself, the inner core emains unclear.

Elemental Lords saving Padlin and also Lux for that matter, dosn't mean they activly act against him themselves. They cannot directly do anything to stop him, only hinder, obstruct, delay...

While using avatars and mortals (and Falerin) as their instruments to try and remove this ... er.... yeah.

Get back to you on that one

Note: Lord Barrius says that Dhows has a motivation. Interesting.

Veral77 -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 12:28:09)

Perhaps, Dhows' motivation is the same as Orochi's in the Warriors Orochi trilogy (trilogy for now, anyway).

RedEyedDrake -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 12:35:08)

@dethhollow: The sensors of the Centerprise defined Dhows as a "transelemental, transdimensional shadow". So, basically, an Eldritch Abomination of a shadow (and by shadow I mean like the shadow monsters from the shadow universe) with a perspective on existence we will never be able to truly and fully grasp since Dhows exists outside time itself.

At least one very clear motivation, I suspect he has a few different motivations actually, perhaps even several.

dethhollow -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 20:41:49)

Alright, lets see if I can use what we know to deduce what exactly Dhows is.... We know he's a Transelemental Transdementional Shadow.... That's a start...

So, he's a shadow.... A verry powerfull shadow.... Shadows come from a Shadow universe or demention, so he came here and somehow got outside of time (?) so he's always been here.... Ok, so that would explein the Transdementional part.... Shadows are light/ darkness alligned so this is already failing in logic. Lets go back, if Dhows is a Shadow-realm shadow then he must have a mirror self or something, right? So maybe the "real Dhows" is a timeless being also?

Now we're getting somewhere, if Dhows is a shadow and his other self is immortal then it must be a deity, right? So Transelemental, that leaves us with the Devourer or the Creator (forget what he's called.) So, even thou he seems to be outside logic, I'm going to guess that Dhows just might be a shadow Devourer, and he gathered enough power to escape his realm.... Ok, that physicly hurt my brain. Am I anywhere near close or just grasping at straws since the Centerprise sensors aren't advanced enough to understand him?

Falerin -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 20:49:20)

Dhows has no other self...

Lord Barrius -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 20:50:55)

"Devourer" in what sense exactly? As in "THE Devourer"?

No. He was born before the shadow universe began its grand attempt at shadow puppet theater.

Falerin -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 20:57:38)

Or is just being born now, Both are accurate in different senses of the word born... hehehehe,.

dethhollow -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 21:06:59)

DARN!!! Well, lets see.... Shadow without a other-self.... Maybe it's because he's timeless? Ha, Dhows with a dinosaur.... No! Stay focused.... So non-elemental shadow.... If we kill Dhows does reality end or something? Help me out brain.... Errr.... Shadow, outside of real- WAIT!!! The order goes thru the realities of our world and the shadow world to travel and so did.... Oh no.... Aww, holy.... And then he.... If this is what I'm thinking it is.... *Facepalm* There's no way, well, I'll just have to see what they say tomorrow. Assuming I'm onto something, should be one heck of a war. Will keep from saying anything else just in case I'm right.

It's because he came into existence before the Shadow universe started mirroring Lore. Barrius said it rather clearly.

So, Barrius...

1. Is the attempt successful? That is to say, are there those that are not subject to the "shadow puppet theater" rules?
2. I'm wondering who began this attempt... because the majority of Shadows seem to dislike having their lives so devoid of free will...

RedEyedDrake -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 22:27:05)

@Orodalf: Well, if Dhows is to be believed then the collapse of the shadow universe's elemental boundary between light and darkness was "man-made" so...yeah.

Also, I didn't know where else to put this so I thought I might as well post it here. Something just hit me, guys...

The Crosses might not really count since they seem kinda Paladin-ish to me but look at the Morningstar crossbows' description. Now check out Edward's description in the "Pet/Guest" part of the encyclopedia. Now realize that the Shadowslayer Shield doesn't trigger against demons. Is it thematically supposed to trigger against them? Or is being "anti-demon" a Paladin thing?

Mortarion -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 22:58:53)

There's something that confuses me, why did Donovan hated Balius? And why did he refered to Cenara as sister and to Edward as hal-brother hwne both are his half-brothers?

Rhowena -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 23:10:48)

I would guess that sometimes Donovan feels too lazy to add the extra syllable, and I don't recall him expressing any hatred of Nightbane specifically; rather, it was supposed that he resents being kept out of the loop about his family's history:

quote:

Evina: No... for he was my son by my second husband. I sought to spare him all of this from the start, so I told him nothing.
Dewlok: Unfortunately it seems that only made him feel removed and second-best compared to his siblings.

Mortarion -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 23:20:18)

Ahh I thought it went on the line as htey both where dracopyres, and thanks for the clarification RHowena, so Balius hada second marriage? WHo was the first?

RedEyedDrake -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/9/2012 23:39:00)

Read that again. Balius didn't remarry, Evina did. Said person was an unnamed farmer.

Mortarion -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/10/2012 6:28:24)

ahh thanks for the clarification

Darquess -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/12/2012 10:02:09)

back to the point,

Dhows is seriously playing mind games with us. I doubt anyone knows just what he is or could explain it in a sentence.

However, seen as every single idea we have about Dhows is deflected ever so slightly by the AQ staff, i dont know, they must know enough about his character that they can answer questions while still keeping him mysterious.

As for the shadows, they are probably many on Lore already, hence the Mysterious Necromancer Cult, maybe they are all under the thumb of the shadow thingys.

I hope the story dosnt get too complicated, as in having a couple of shadows walking around which technicaly dont exist but are beging too, all of them trying to kill us and upsurp Dhows, all the while telling us strange and offputting facts about what we consider to be reality.

It will be a total mind blower then. We've had it

Macho Man -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/12/2012 14:03:46)

I just re did the "Dhow's Arc" and I have a few more questions.

1. What did Erebus reveal to Falerin in "A Rose by Any Other Name"? This was by far the most confusing scene for me...

2. Do we know why Erebus chose Atlas to help him? Is he powerful/has a ability that is useful to him. And what on earth happened at the end of this weeks release with him getting wings??

3. Who were those three who came onto the ship in this weeks release, I think they were being referred to as "E"

dethhollow -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/12/2012 14:18:03)

I think I know the answear.... Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but....

1. Uhh.... skip? I'll have to play that quest again because I don't know what your talking about....

2. Atlas was trapped in another realm. He's willing to do almost anything to get out, including follow Dhows. Dhows gave him power, and it manifested itself in the fourm of wings... I guess.... Well why not get wings? Lets you fly and makes you look more awesome.

3. Arendor (the red-suit Falerin) is a fragment of Falerin, from way back when Dhows destroyed him so completely he had to split into seperate parts to survive. The other two were parts of Falerin and Elderon, and both shared a mind or something.... How Elderon got split is beyond me.

Huh.... Guess I'm not as well-informed about this as I thought.

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/12/2012 14:19:16)

1. "A Rose by Any Other Name" is the confirmation that there are, in fact, many different Mysterious Strangers and that the Mysterious Stranger of DragonFable is NOT Dhows and vice versa. It is also a confirmation that the timelines of DF and AQ are split. In this scene, we also discover that Dhows needs a name.

2. Perhaps it amused Erebus, because for Maxwell to go along with his plans means for him to kill his daughters AND his adopted daughter... As for his getting wings, it's something to do with Dhows using the last Fleck to "bring back a long-fallen hero."

3. "E" was revealed to mean Extra-dimensional Entity. There were two E-- one that was a Falerin Analog and another that was an Eldron Analog. We saw the latter first in the Star Blecch quest and then again in Mostly Harmful. Both were absorbed by their respective analogs.

Actually, while we're talking about E's, I have another question, though I think only WoG would be able to answer... why were there Eldron/Falerin analogs in a Lorian TDR? And are there E-versions of the other members of the Farpoint?
