Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 15:22:42)

@RedEyedDrake: You do realize Terra is the world we (the players and the staff behind the avatars) live on?

RedEyedDrake -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 15:24:31)

Oh? I know it refers to planet Earth. I'm pretty sure it is an ingame Earth, though.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 15:42:14)

@RedEyedDrake: I highly doubt it, Dhows Epsilon even refers to us (the players) as "peeping terrans".

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 15:52:24)

No, Terra refers to any of the iterations of Earth. We are on a Terra more prime than several of the Terras mentioned in-game (like Seattle Prime, Third City, etc.).

RED: Vespiria is in Lore's universe, Abeir-Toril is separate from both.

RedEyedDrake -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 16:08:57)

You mean Toril and Caelestia aren't in the same universe? Also, are all Vesperians members of the Network or not?

Oh and are Lore, Caelestia, ect. Supposed to be vastly different analogs of each other or something?

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 16:14:39)

Nowhere was it said that Lore and Caelestia are analogues. And, no, Abeir-Toril is somewhere else entirely.

Also, correction, I'm sorry; Vespiria is NOT in Lore's universe, it's in a Terran universe.

I have no idea whether all Vesperians are members of NOVA or not.

RedEyedDrake -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 16:20:20)

Alright, now we can move on. How much of Lore's universe does Lorithia govern? Is it all of it? And are all the worlds (or at least those that evolved life/sentient life) in this universe created through her and the Elemental Lords' usage of the engine of creation?

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 16:24:11)

The scope of the story keeps changing, so I have no definite answer.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 16:45:42)

Vespirian, isn't that from Venus?

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 16:46:26)

No, the Vesperians are from Vespiria. In the Pleiades.

Veral77 -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/24/2012 16:57:48)

Is there a story line significance as to why moglin ghosts leave behind skeletons but human ghosts do not?

Mortarion -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/29/2012 7:08:10)

Hey, ArchMagus, IIRC there are more types of Necromancy, right? And if so, how do they affect the undead? I am sure that a Light undead is different from a Darkness undead

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/29/2012 7:13:11)

Veral77: Probably just a thing in monster design.

Mortarion: I have no idea whether there are inherent differences among Undead animated by different elements. An answer would have to be forthcoming from a certain Loremaster.

Falerin -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/14/2012 18:38:55)

Bumping this as there are those seeking this information

jwang059 -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/14/2012 18:58:47)

so can someone basically summarise what the recent war is all about? why is giving Dhows a name important? why do we need his 'home coordinates'? what did we achieve by entering that door and teleporting Erebus there? what exactly was the 'earlier' scene about? what are we trying to achieve exactly? what exactly was Dhows trying to achieve by killing Falerin and generally stirring up trouble or is it just in his nature?

lots of questions but much appreciated if someone can answer them.

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/14/2012 19:05:04)

Giving Dhows a name is important because it allows for action upon him; the specific action we're trying to achieve with Falerin is an abjuration, which expels Dhows from Lore and places him back in his home universe. We need his home coordinates in order to do so; most abjurations would not require such, but Dhows is a most abnormal being. Entering that door is an attempt to discern these home coordinates. We brought Erebus with us to prevent him from interfering with his past and so confound our efforts to glean information from said past and befuddle our attempts at ascertaining the home coordinates. The "earlier" scene demonstrates in-game the link between Erebus and the Shadow Universe that the staff have been telling us about this entire time on the forums.

As to what we're trying to achieve, we're trying to Fight the Shadow. :P We want to send him back to his home dimension to stop him from causing more trouble.

As for killing Falerin, I suspect he did it specifically so that he would have a God by his side, which could prove useful (e.g., by stopping the arrival of the Lady of Light's Avatar, the Commander Paladin, in Division by Zero, in creating a lot of chaos by starting a God War, etc.).
I'm going to write a plot synopsis for the Dhows Arc. Klet'sdothis.

This is the first part:

War for Darkovia

The'Galin has been driven from Lore, but not without cost-- a previous Avatar of Death Balius, known more widely as Nightbane, sacrificed his life in the battle.

Though all of Lore had united in an attempt to stop The Network in its quest to destroy Lore, the absence of an external threat has returned Darkovia to its petty power struggles. Safiria the Queen of Vampires, Constantin Petyrovich the Were-King, and Erimus, also known as WolfWing, are again at war. There have been werepyres attacking both lycan and vampire territories. Crispus (Constantin's son) and his Blackguard have been attacking werepyres and vampires. Vampires have also been reported attacking places as far as Obsidia's Fortress and Frostvale. Rather than attempting to discern the true culprit, the three go to war again. "Caught in the crossfire" are the unfortunate humans of Darkovia. Lady Evina the White Abbess comes forth from her monastery in Darkovia and asks Yulgar to alert the heroes of Battleon of the war and to call for aid in defending Darkovia.

We learn from cutscenes that the one behind the attacks was Donovan, Cenara's half-brother. He deplores the chaos of war and has demonstrated to Crispus, a Vampire, and a Werepyre that their respective subrace leaders only serve to amplify said chaos. Donovan aims to take advantage of the confusion of the war to take control of what was previously Balius's Fortress, which only Cenara, Dewlok, and two commanders of Balius's guard. By causing a brief distraction in which a statue falls onto Balius's glass coffin, breaking it. A shard of glass from the coffin cuts Cenara, who leaves the Fortress to determine the cause of the commotion.

After the war is won, Lady Evina yells at the various Darkovian powers, scolding them for their chaotic conduct. When she calls for someone to stand for Darkovia, Cenara enters, claiming that she will. At this point, she falls. Lady Evina catches her.

Elsewhere, Donovan begins to make his move.

A Cure for Cenara!

In continuation of the previous quest, Erimus enters the scene, demanding to be told what happened to his granddaughter Cenara. Erimus and Evina play the blame game-- Evina accuses Erimus of causing more fighting in Darkovia, and Erimus accuses Evina of abandoning Cenara (though Evina claims that she was only trying to save her daughter from what happened to her first son, Edward). Dewlok interrupts, revealing that what afflicts Cenara is in fact warring strains of the Darkovia subraces-- the piece of glass that had cut her was most likely contaminated with Balius's blood. The adventurers of Battleon are called once again, this time to venture into No Man's Land surrounding Granemor to gather healing herbs: Rashalia Fern, Tortello Leaf, and Triffid Rhizome.

When the adventurers had finished gathering the herbs, Dewlok attempts to cure Cenara. Despite a transfusion of healing Moglin blood, Cenara cannot be healed completely. She has aged and is now Forsaken, though "intact," as Dewlok was able to "break the link" with Death. He was also only able to combine the three contagions assaulting her system rather than remove them completely-- Cenara can now only become a Dracopyre or die.

Elsewhere, Donovan has taken over Balius's Fortress, getting ready to perform a ritual that he claims will make him a perfect Dracopyre, capable of producing others like himself. The quest ends with Donovan's bringing in two of Balius's former lieutenants, who he claims will help him in the ritual.

NightReign and GraceFang and NightReign Vs. GraceFang

The ritual has been completed-- Donovan has risen as a perfect Dracopyre, donning the name "NightReign." He begins a war to subjugate the entirety of Darkovia. The adventurers manage to halt the advance of Donovan's armies, also fighting off three of the leaders of said armies. Evina reveals that Donovan is her son by her second husband, a farmer. In response to Erimus's call that something be done about Donovan, Cenara stands, revealing that she has also become a perfect Dracopyre, taking on the name GraceFang.

The two fight a war. The adventurers must choose between the Evil Unity of Donovan and the Chaotic Good of Cenara. Cenara ends up victorious. As they fight, however, they learn of a "vast creature" moving in the Scar of No Man's Land and that Ryuusei Cartwright has also been seen in the vicinity. They both head toward Granemor to investigate.

jwang059 -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/15/2012 21:08:08)

thanks for the explanation Orodalf it made things a lot clearer.

Mortarion -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/19/2012 19:21:43)

Hmm why was Ryuusei good again? And why are this hints that he is still evil? COuld someone clear it up for me

Falerin -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/19/2012 19:46:33)

Of the two Ryuusei Cartrwright's only the beardless analog introduced in Flecks I, can be truly said to be good. The other can be said to have "learned" his lesson and to have become more antihero than villain but good is quite a stretch at this point.

Mortarion -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/19/2012 19:50:30)

Ahh ok, then why did you said in your preview that we'll see the return of the villanous side of the normal Cartwright?

Falerin -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/19/2012 21:04:42)

Trying to sell Absolix on "amorality" at knife point seems villainous enough to me.

Mortarion -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/19/2012 22:02:57)

Ok.....

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/20/2012 6:29:35)

Going through some old quests, I found a character which I thought could be relevant to the current situation of explaining Darkovia. Thrakus.

You probably don't know him anymore, but Thrakus was revealed to be one of Safiria's first sons. Does this mean she had a spouse or do they mean "children" in the creepy sense vampires use for the people they turn? Either way, we never learned what happened to him.

RedEyedDrake -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/20/2012 8:03:18)

It has been stated that undead can't breed the "regular" way.

Falerin -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (6/20/2012 8:52:36)

Depends on the Undead. The Hadeni, who are born undead. Which means that they can in fact breed in a "near" classical way. The same is true of the few other instances of "born" undead I am aware of. However, largely for beings who were once "Alive" in the classical sense; then no the process of procreation is not compatible with undeath.

If Safiria had sons before being turned herself that also might qualify; especially if she turned her own family which is common enough.
