@T.600

I don't think so...
I'm pretty sure they stack on top of your current stat modifiers and enhancements!
(Not 100% sure on that information though...)

Banir -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 20:50:48)

So what happens to enhancements after this? Will they still be there, adding in to stats, completely removed? I'm a bit confused.

SMGS -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 20:52:40)

Previews so far are looking good, looking forward to using whatever weapon I'd like to use, too! And I see what I assume to be the Equippable Item Abilities being referred to in a tweet several days ago. I guess that means older weapons have a chance to get specials, as well. Good to know since only one of my weapons has a special.

@WT: Well, I'm here now. :P

@above: Based on DNs, it's info they plan to release in more detail soon.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 21:01:34)

dang, I should have waited before selling a bunch of underpowered seasonals and LSQ items e.e... Now they'll actually have use! Infernal slayer was totally obsolete compared to interdictor because there was no massive strike, and that's probably the item I most regret selling now .-.

drinde -> RE: =ED= Top-Secret Details Revealed! - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 21:12:36)

I... See... SUPER-MIRV!

And I like the new Stat system. It's colorful. :3

The Joker X -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 21:14:42)

Sounds awesome! Question for rabble, would it be possible to also change the type of weapon it is? For example, changing my physical primary and making it an energy weapon. This would be great for things like the beta weapons since we had no choice in its type. Answer please :)

Yo son -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 21:21:38)

wow, there is a big cheesy smile on my face, and I cant turn into a neutral face, that must mean am really excited.
Before I get overly excited, just how much will this cost?

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 21:30:15)

@The Joker X you cannot change the type of a weapon only the stats.

Blaze The Aion Ender -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 21:32:05)

I will dread to see the power of beta weapons

I will miss being able to tell a players skill by their weapons :/
Good bye seeing someone with chainsaw arm blades and thinking "I got 'dis"

f4tal1tY -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 21:42:40)

Ermagerd this looks amazing! 1 problem.... won't weapons be for looks only then? Then whats the point of the varium weapons i just got!?!? Dark varium blaster doesn't even look good, its just the stats are amazing. Same for Wraith Devastator, only bought it for the dexterity bonus T.T AND Spectral Reaper too it doesn't even look good i just wanted the +14 strength stat bonuses. Whats the point of weapons now if they can all have the same stats now!! ._.

aomont -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 21:55:54)

I foresee some badass mages with lv35 Apprentice staves ! lol
But I knew some would some would be freaking out while I read the DNs. :D

I'm farming credits, saving varium and waiting... and I'm liking how things are changing. ;)

Betabot. -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 21:57:49)

I think they will have to restructure some of the stats of some weapons (like they have done before), or put limitations on certain things (as Trans has said). Because if it turns out that a weapon that costs 14k Credits can be turned into a nearly exact copy of a 35k Credit weapon, then there will be issues.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 21:59:47)

One other limitation to picking your gear is the built-in nature of stats on your items. If you like a staff or gun, but the stats are bad for your build, then that weapon is no good to you. In Omega, you may now arrange your stats how YOU want on all of your items.

To maintain balance, you will not be able to put all of the item's points into one stat, but otherwise you can customize it as you wish. Similarly, you will be able to choose the allocation of Defense and Resistance on any armor.

Wait what. If the stat total of weapons are the same (which they usually are, at the same level), then what's the difference between weapons? Won't weapon vendors essentially be selling art?

f4tal1tY -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 22:14:25)

@above thats exactly what i said?!?!?!?! -.-

Betabot. -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 22:17:25)

What would happen with the " Frontier Blaster"? It has + 29 damage for a level 20 weapon. Upgrade that to level 35 and it would be the most powerful sidearm. Though it doesn't have any stats lol.

Blaze The Aion Ender -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 22:22:17)

@Betabot
Exactly
Gun power in exchange for low stats

DanniiBoiixD -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 22:25:52)

You guys are misunderstanding by a long run. Every level is going to have a maximum amount of stats you can use on a weapon, so there won't really be any balance issues about weapon power. And they said they are working on a new damage model so I can't tell you anything about that part.

Xendran -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 22:41:16)

ED just went from having a terrible itemization system that i loathed to having one that looks amazing.
Good job guys, looks like ED is finally getting the revamp it needs.

Rayman -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 22:57:12)

Beta: if a wep have 29 dmg on lvl 20 doesnt mean it will have 45+ on lvl 35 e,e
It will most likely have 39 dmg. Maybe on lvl 36 it can get to 40 dmg.

And just to be perfectly clear, these features will be available with or without Varium. Upgrading your gear and rearranging your gear's stats will have both Credit and Varium options available.

If this means removing the power gap, i HEAVILY approve.
A way i think this should work, is credit players should have less freedom as to where they put their stat points, but still have the same number of stat points available to them. Varium players should have full freedom, but without an actual mathematical advantage in numbers, but rather an advantage in having to carry around less weapons for specific builds.

Also, start limiting the cosmetic options that are available to free players, that is a MASSIVE cash cow. People are more than willing to pay good money to bake their character look like a boss.
For example, free players don't need the ability to fully customize armor colors. Make armors have a randomization option (with colors leaning towards certain ones, as to prevent players from constantly getting rainbows on their gear) for credits, and full customization for varium. Same with hairs, random for credits, full customization for varium.

Perhaps allowing free players full customization as well but for a fairly hefty battle token cost?

EDIT: Another way to make good profit without making varium players OP is offering them alternative skills (the ones in weapons) that are sidegrades. Not better, just different and more unique.

You can also sell a stash, that lets you store items outside of your inventory. Very useful for rare collectors that have a ton of gear that they don't use.
You can sell custom emotes
You can sell armor accessories like capes, goves, bloots
You can sell custom titles instead of the standard Warlord/Commander/Whatever
You can sell extra character slots (Yes, even in a F2P game people will buy these instead of making another account)
You can sell fancier skill animations for existing skills

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 23:13:26)

@xedran as i said in the post you suggested, that will be unfair, and utterly wrong. you said that non vars are second class citizens and should not look good in your suggestion, and how does varium make you first class citizens? so basically you want non vars to look like poor chump even though they have like 100k+ credits? the color customization system should be free for everyone to use and we already have varium only head designs, if i own a paint shop for cars and i only paint the cars of the customers that give me diamonds instead of cash, the world would be in chaos. and even though ED is a game it should contain some real life logics.

Rayman -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 23:17:53)

Trizz: these features seems very good and is something that varium players will pay for and can stay varium only like name change.
And that won't make var players OP vs non vars ones.

Xendran -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 23:18:15)

It's not unfair, you're being given the ENTIRE CORE GAME and the ENTIRE STORY for free. Random armor colors don't have to look bad, just not as unique as if you have varium.
And the diamonds vs cash issue is not the same. Both have value. Credits have no real world value attached to them in any way.

Diamonds can be exchanged for cash, and vice versa, so the person who has cash but not diamonds can simply buy diamonds with their cash and get their car painted anyway.

If it was so bad, then tell me why nexon makes so much money from armor dye ampoules in vindictus? Theyre literally the most popular cash item in the game, and they cost a LOT. I think that for ED it shouldn't cost that much, as to make it more enticing for people to buy smaller varium packages, but get a fairly good amount of customization from it. The more expensive things would be weapon skins, bikes, animations, etc.

EDIT: I also personally believe that class change should cost battle tokens instead of credits. Having it as credits severely gimps you if you need to buy new gear for your new calss.

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: =ED= Omega Design Notes - November 29, 2012 (11/29/2012 23:22:50)

@above we already have varium only hair styles and thats enough, weapon skins should be varium only but color customization should be free to use for both.
