*Skip to the bottom for the short version.* Well, first of all: Battles only last about 3 turns anymore. And the whole point of the thread is diversity. If everything is the same it gets boring. The real issue in ED's old days, was the extra stats that varium players had over non varium players. The skills took the fall for that however. By the time omega got here, the staff realized what the real problem was. It was the massive varium boost. This is a strategy based pvp game. There is NO strategy in focus, focus, focus, focus, focus! Now that the varium issue has been resolved, there is no point in the changes that were made. A lot more would change than what you realize. A great example: in beta, if somebody sacrificed the majority of their stats for just one (like strength); they would have low support, (=no crits, gets hit by crits all the time) low dexterity (gets blocked a lot). It became easy to beat a strength abuser. All you would have to do was take advantage of the clear weaknesses. If somebody wasted everything on dexterity for blocks, all you would have to do would be shoot them, problem solved! If somebody was a high damager, tank him and USE THAT FIELD MEDIC that you could use every 3 turns that was effected by support. Then the loop healing controversy comes up. How can you beat a mage with high hp, and is healing every three turns? Quite simple, in fact, the answer can be summed up by a single word: Damage. THAT was what strength builds were for. Look, you can give me ANY build from beta, and it could be countered (varium aside). And now that varium is not the issue anymore, if we went back to that, EVERYBODY would have a fair chance. The biggest determining factor would be your mental abilities. The smartest players would (and should) win the most. When I was in beta, I was a free player for a while. I was able to kill just about any varium player. Why? Because I didn't just slap a build together in 15 seconds. I had to calculate the numbers, I went through scenarios, that way, no matter what I ran into I had a decent chance. All of that changed when the varium issue got out of hand. The reason I won't shut up about varium is because THAT WAS THE ISSUE, and I cannot stress that enough!! All of the issues now were caused initially by that one problem. The main cause has been eliminated, now we have all these other problems. But they weren't there before the initial one got out of hand. Simple solution, go BACK to the way it was BEFORE that initial problem arose, but leave the solution to the initial problem in the game. From a scientific perspective, this SHOULD work. Now about the issue that "mother1" keeps bringing up. Wouldn't the battles end very quickly? Well consider this. Right now, the average player at the level cap has about 90 hit points. If the game were to revert, you would be talking about 3 (or was it 4) hit points per stat. So the average player at the level cap would theoretically have ~145-160 hit points. I don't know about you but that sounds like potential for a longer battle than 90 hit points. Heh, I've seen people die in 2v2 without even having 3 turns the way the game is right now. That's a quick battle if you ask me. Guys, this game is NOT meant to be a no brainer (although it is going in that direction). Right now a battle is mostly determined by whoever gets lucky. One deflection, block, cirt, will make or break a battle. That's shortness in itself. Something else I think is worth pointing out. When I log on, I normally see less than 1,000 players online at any given time. Years ago when the game was newer, (the start of beta) I used to see (If memory serves) about 2,600 Players on at any given time. I think we all see the hidden message there. People are leaving this game because it's not as fun anymore. Because all of the diversity has been draining out of it. The nerfing is killing this game, so please, stop doing it. It doesn't work. If it did, we wouldn't still be discussing it to such a degree. What I can't understand is why this is being treated like a small issue (or at least it seems like it). _______________________________________________ *Short version* Completely support!
