I'm pretty sure this has been asked and answered many times already. The answer is yes, it was intended and it has always been this way since the start of Omega.

Omega is a mystery. Even after a year its does surprise me.

Mysterion. -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 9:17:54)

Well, this pretty much makes me want to quit ED for good.
Really, hidding losses?

That's like the only thing that makes someone look good, their win/loss ratio and they remove it?
Now they just show wins, and that doesn't say they are good, it just shows how much time they spend on ED.

Really bad update, hate it.
And what about the NPC wins, it says 0 on players who did thousans of NPC wins beta/gamma/delta, they should have counted those in it and removed them from the PvP wins.
Another bad idea, because it does not show how it really is.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 9:32:12)

Oh yeah, let me change my game engine to distinguish NPC wins from PvP wins, when it was completely re-written during Omega, and change every single players' win records, including LB, cheevos, ranks, etc. The change is not ex post facto. It's impossible, and even if it was possible, so much time would be wasted for no gain or whatsoever, apart from possibly upsetting hundreds or thousands of players (total) due to losing their places on LB, their cheevos, their emblems, etc. Tell me about how it'd be a "better update", apart from pleasing the minority who want to name and shame the NPC'ers.

They won't bother with few hardcore players saying it's bad, when the benefit is for whole community, from psychological point of view. Mecha Mario has already said it may be toggle-able, but no promises, so each player would have a choice, but it's the minority of those hardcore players who play hours each day, who don't like it.

You can't please everyone, but a very small minority of players won't stop the Devs from making bigger decisions, that benefit the majority.

Mysterion. -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 9:39:15)

Or you look at it this way.
PvE isn't PvP.
Counting NPC wins to the 1vs1 records was a terrible idea in the first place, because it simply ARE NOT 1VS1 PVP wins. It are PvE wins.
Big difference, Trans.

People that got in the lb with NPC wins should be removed from it a long time ago, because they won PvE and NOT PVP.
They were never supposed to be on there.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 9:45:04)

Yes, thanks for pointing out the difference. Now, I'm asking you to differentiate NPC wins from PvP wins, when the engine used to put them together AND it was re-written after NPCs stopped giving wins. Hence why it's not ex post facto.

Of course, everyone would love it if that was possible, but it wasn't possible to differentiate the wins in the first place, so it's a no go. The mistake, yes, was making the count as PvP wins, but it's a mistake that cannot be corrected anymore.

Mysterion. -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 9:52:15)

I highly doubt they just deleted all the old data when making Omega.
They must have some back-up saved from the old delta ED, or they are just the worst company I ever met.

They were able to track all the varium we spent on enchancements, so they must also be able to differentiate NPC from PvP wins.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 10:00:34)

@ Mysterion

I have to ask even if they did have data to tell the difference between the two I must ask you what would they gain if they used it other than ticking off those who played in a past era that didn't know this would be happening by

1 Making them lose cheevos they worked hard to earn
2 losing rank if NPC wins made them have enough
3 Punishing them for paying any of the old NPC wars (Frostland infernal, ebilcorp)

I mean seriously don't you think if the staff could have done something like this, they would have done it first with the cheevos that counted how many times you won that cheevo, or how many times you beat a boss?

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 10:00:49)

Varium is a paid currency, and that one is tracked across all of AE Games. Wins are only used for your level - of course they are tracked, because they grant you Exp, but there was no difference between PvP and NPC win, because they all were counted as PvP wins.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 10:28:24)

Mysterion, it wasn't an issue of statistics, as in the devs had numbers for PvP and PvE and just decided to lump them together. It was an issue of coding, whereby those numbers could not be differentiated. Omega changed that, and that phase is over. It's awfully trivial of you at this point to insist on retroactively separating wins, which is an unfeasible, unproductive, and probably impossible task.

Mysterion. -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 10:51:15)

@Mother1

How exactly is it punishing them?
They still get what they did, they beated NPC's and it now gets counted on the way it was supposed to be at that time?
They won't lose any achievements, just their rank on the leaderboards, which is justice since it never were PvP wins but NPC wins.

@Trans
And that's the problem, they should never have counted as PvP wins, as they aren't

@SSM
They are separating them now, what is so bad of suggesting they do it with previous wins aswell?

Honestly, I don't see how it is bad for them, they got what they deserve, a NPC win and not a PvP win, what exactly is the bad thing about it?
A bad thing that they rightfully lose their place on a leaderboard were they never were supposed to be on because they didn't got what was required?

Even if they can't change it, it isn't a problem for me wanting to have it that way, it's just impossible.
You don't need to attack me for it.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 11:05:00)

quote:

Yes, that is the problem. It cannot be fixed now. End of. There's nothing else that can be done about it, really.

quote:

Nothing wrong with suggesting. They are separate NOW, and they were NOT before, hence why they cannot differentiate between the two when looking at the past wins. The engine was re-written, and so were PvP and NPC records - and how it's all recorded.

No one is against the suggestion of yours, but it's impossible. The change is not retroactive, and it cannot be due to engine limitations and how the wins were counted at the time. Nothing can be done about it. In other words, you're wasting your time trying to suggest something that will never be done, because it's simply impossible. No one can do anything about it.

Simple concept, not too hard to understand. If you don't bother reading, I'll shorten it: it's impossible & not retroactive.

Scyze -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 13:47:16)

If EpicDuel gives out a great item, then I'll be happy to buy 10,000 Artix Points, but if it doesn't, I won't buy any.

Shame, I use Ultimate Game Card

CN2025 -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 17:54:56)

lol thankyou scyze is feels like ur the only one who noticed xD its a great deal if you ask me normally you woulda buy 10k ap any ways now you get rewarded for it :P and you can use it in any games so its not like you need to spend 10k you jsut need to buy it for the codes

Dual thrusters i use ultimate game card i bought 2 30$ ones for the 50$ pack because its taxed some what like 3-5$ every card so buying 20$+30$ = 45 $ so you would have to buy like 60$ if you wanted the code but its still possible

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 18:02:45)

That's also wrong. You need a single purchase of 10K Points or more, not multiple purchases. So, you either spend $50+ at once, or no code for you.

CN2025 -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 18:04:55)

they forced me to spend 60$ because of that stupid tax idk if it happens to you guys but this started like a year ago for me when they started taxing my cards

Dual Thrusters -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 18:08:13)

The last time I used an Ultimate Game card was on January 2013, before Omega Started. I didn't get taxed.

CN2025 -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 18:13:05)

and yeah before omega i didn't get taxed ... how much value ? when omega started i get taxed on the 20$ and 30$ one but 5$ and 10$ is fine

Dual Thrusters -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 18:16:15)

I used $20

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 18:19:25)

Taxation has nothing to do with Omega. Let's remember that the same rules apply for all AE Games, and you redeem UGC on the Portal site - and UGCs aren't used for AE only. So let's not jump to conclusions that Omega introduced it. (there's always that someone <.>)

Perhaps it depends on the region, and how it works in each area? I have no idea since I use my own Card for years now. But we shouldn't derail the topic either - there's been nothing confirmed about ED offer, nor this is the thread to do so. ^^

CN2025 -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/23/2014 18:27:28)

general disscussion covers this :P i just said it arrived about the same time as omega not omega brought it here my region is australia any of u being taxed there or am i going mad xD??

They have logs of what wins are and aren't NPC wins. I know this for a fact because back when they talked to players, i asked a few times how many of my wins and losses were against NPCs and they gave me the answer. They could have very easily done an automated separation of these numbers. The engine only put them together playerside, the serverside database has always separated them. Not only that but it can tell exactly which NPCs you fought and how many times you fought each individual NPC.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= January 17th, 2014 - Patch Notes - 1.6.1 (1/24/2014 1:16:54)

@ xendran

If all this is true, then why didn't they just do it instead of just doing this from this point on?
