I know what you're saying, but if the lvl cap was lowered it could be implemented. There would be less wait time overall if implemented with lowering of lvl cap. So the lvl 38s and 39s would have an increased range of opponents and so would lvls like 22 and 14( whenever I'm one of this lvls wait times are ridiculous). I know by itself it wouldn't work.

And what is to stop the players at the new level cap from doing the same thing all over again? It will be a repeating cycle that will hurt all players near the top who choose not to do this since more players will just level down lowering the overall player pool for player who choose not do this.

Also what is to stop these leveled down players from buying level 1 gear of their old items, leveling down and using that gear against their opponents with cores? This will hurt new greenhorn players who have no clue because they will become the punching bags of experienced players who have a truck load of credits and/or varium. Even with the new tutorial which gives players a gun and aux you still need credits to power up your gear not only for levels but for cores.

It wouldn't be fair in the least to old and new players and will cause more problems than solve.

Having played my 40 and seeing 36s and 37s in almost every battle , I'm saddened the last ditch attempt at getting players to stay failed.

Looks like they made a boo boo once again. I think it should be reported in the bug section since that shouldn't be happening.

Edit I think they only did this for 1 vs 1 to be honest because I went trying to do the 1 vs 1 mission and had 30 battles all of them except 1 was against level 40's.

Double checked with Rabble. It's actually 38 for 1v1, and 36 for 2v2 as of the update for cap players. Just wasn't made clear enough regarding that.

Oh I see now that was why I was always pulled into a match with a level 40 for 39 out of 41 fights I just had while only getting 36's if a 40 way there.

36 is still a big improvement in 2v2 though given you used to be able to very rarely fight sub-level 35 players as a level 40. I dread the day I enter level 38 because that'l probably be a trouble spot for me.
