Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/26/2014 19:02:31)

@trollok only cowards wait till its to late though. As you and the Jop said his power doesn't get great its just sustained by absorbing souls so it wouldn't be that much of a problem to get to him quick.

Trollok!!! -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/26/2014 19:12:46)

It is not cowardly to simply wait. Nothing was said about waiting until it is too late. Besides, all of this is speculation. The way megakyle framed the story was as if the knight JUST received the shield. He leaves the rest to our imaginations.

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/26/2014 19:55:50)

Reading back to what the jop said the knight's been searching ages for something wouldn't he have had enough time to plan a strategy by now?

Trollok!!! -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/26/2014 20:16:13)

You can't formulate a proper strategy if you're missing an important piece of the puzzle. Anyways, I think there's far too much reading into (It's more like nitpicking to be honest) the suggestion at this point. It's already been said the knight found the shield and is going
quote:

to use this power to slay Nulgath

So even if megakyle didn't give specific details as to when to attack or how the attack will be like, it matters not since the main goal is laid out for us. The main story behind his suggestion was the knight and the artifact; that has been adequately explained. He has also said why he needs the artifact. Knowing how the knight intends to use the artifact is nice but unnecessary seeing as that would be delving too much into what Nulgath himself has planned for his storyline, i.e. if the knight challenges Nulgath, where does that leave our characters?

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 1:37:13)

...I just love how my Mist Knight has started a discussion on it. I think that evidence alone it should go in game.[:D]

But in all seriousness, I wish everyone the best of luck[;)] (Though as conceited as it is I wish myself better luck-having got into the winning votes twice now and lost, it would crush me and utterly suck to lose again.[>:] )

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 1:48:55)

How many does Nulgath pick for finalists anyway? Lel.

Blackshock -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 1:53:38)

Last time, there were around three four per category I believe?

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 1:54:21)

Ah. Only 3? :L

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 1:58:58)

No, it was 4 each. And the contest before that had 6 each, I believe.

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 2:04:31)

Wonder how many he will choose this time <.>

And another thing I worry, not enough votes. I mean. .. OS is pretty dead besides forum right now. . .right? Lel. What're you going to do, advertise on other games? xDDD

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 2:15:24)

They do advertise on artix.com at least, when there's a contest.

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 4:16:25)

I think it depends on how many good entries there are. For example, the first such contest had a TON of entries so had more winning votes, whereas the categorized contests have less entries and are thus likely to have less winners, unless all of those entries are of a high quality, in which case there will be more. But that is ONLY a guess.

Blackshock -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 4:47:25)

Who knows? If we're lucky, maybe nulgath will have a hard time picking and select more winners, that or he realizes we're in dire need of more water characters?

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 6:36:42)

@megakyle
Actually, the very first contest only had 6 entries to vote on, but they were all art. That's before Nulgath realized he had to make separate categories for art and story so art didn't win every time. Plus it was only available as a poll on the forums so it only got 552 votes.

Trollok!!! -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 7:15:57)

Yeah if you look at the later contests with the polls on the game website, there's been at least 3 times as many votes.

Kiazz -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 7:21:16)

Actually, I think that water needs more characters with quality card decks; flagships to promote that element, if you will. (Player-suggested chars usually get pretty nice decks if not deliberately requested, and most people don't sabotage their potential main's power .-.) Like the cosoma titan of ice, the dire monk of neutral, and queen aegea of light. In pure numbers, there are less fire, energy, and, hue hue hue, chaos characters in their respective elements compared to water.

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 7:27:15)

On the topic of card decks do you think my Mist Knight's card deck would make for a good water char? I'm not sure hardly using the element, and one of the fourmites suggested it.

Also, if I like the design and animation of my Mist Knight should it get in game (I don't know if I will like it or not: I'm not sure how it looks exactly in my head but I know if I see it or don't see it I'll know if that makes sense) i will so make it my main. Unless I made a even better char in another contest that gets in. I don't use Water much.

Either way, whatever I think of the final design IF it get in game (which I'm sure I will love[;)] ) I hope you guys enjoy it since that's part of the reason I make them, and that you will use it often.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 7:31:08)

Good luck, but aren't you getting a little ahead of yourself? You haven't even been chosen as one of several entries to be voted on yet, and you're already hoping people will enjoy using your character. The deck seems good though, but water doesn't have much going for it. You could add some Water Rapids since they're okay cards that are unique to water.

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 7:53:37)

Yeah, i realized it sounded a little conceited and edited it. [>:]

Also, I must say, there are a LOT of good entries in this contest. Blackshock's works in particular stand out to me as some awesome pieces.

Kiazz -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 8:08:59)

-If you hope that others "will enjoy using your character", then you are therefore putting others before oneself, compromising your personal ideals, like sacrificing your own idea for a "deck" or making your "design/animation" different; another way of interpreting this. Selfless, innocent, and virtuous. And, of course, everyone thinks that their entries will make it. That's why they enter it in the first place.

-Dual-elemental-ing with two to three healing springs or fresh start, also with 2-3 of those, would make any water character better.

-Water rapids aren't affected by combo-bonus and are only 3 for 400 (extra hundred), but cost less than the 4 for 500 attack card and might fit due to a majority of your energy either going to healing or powerflow. Personally, I kinda dislike it, unless it's coupled with the stuff above. :/

-Oh, and didn't Nulgath say that there wouldn't be another char suggestion contest, instead taking suggestions from the suggestion thread at his leisure? I'm wondering about this, but I prefer contests, due to the fact that it gives us two guaranteed characters with respectable decks. The element specification makes it more awesome, even more so, with water.

Edit: Hmph, ninja-ed.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 8:10:32)

The part I was criticizing is that he expects to win already.

Trollok!!! -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 8:13:35)

I love how the Contest Discussion thread is basically droves of people asking for feedback...

Kiazz -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 8:19:14)

@Trollok Well, what do you think it should be discussing?
@Jop Hm, you may have a point. It's the underdogs who try their hardest, therefore those who expect to lose may want to compensate for it with time and effort. Though on the flip-side, those who expect to lose may give up all together and enter multiple entries to try to gain a chance to enter, without focusing on the quality.

Trollok!!! -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 8:22:24)

@Kiazz: I think it should be that, DISCUSSING. Not asking for feedback or advertising. Don't get me wrong, there are comments there but for the most part, people post one after another asking for feedback almost as if they're ignoring previous comments. If you're going to ask for feedback, at least do the honor of reading someone else's work too.

Kiazz -> RE: =OS= Character Suggestion Discussion Thread (2/27/2014 8:31:18)

Ah, but you're discussing something: their work. Feedback is just another form of discussion; I don't see any rule broken. Feedback isn't advertisement, it's more like consumer satisfaction reports/reviews. You can only discuss each post so far, and what if you have no opinions on the person prior to your post's work? The reason you're asking for feedback is because you don't think that your entry is good enough, therefore, you wouldn't even think that you had the credentials to grade other's work. Imposing your, according to you, inferior opinions on someone else's work? Never! This could be seen as humility, yet another flip-side.
