Quest! Back True Mortal: Welcome back. You have done well so far. Now the guardian Kuli-ana awaits you in the deepest of depths. True Mortal: It was believed that of all gates, the one protected beneath the waves would be the most secure. True Mortal: Obviously this is now not the case. Kuli-ana has volunteered to serve as the ocean gate Guardian, believing in the security of the gate. <Character>: Look. I need to understand something. Why do I need to attune myself to the gates? <Character>: If it's just a matter of tracking Isathaara down, then would we not be better served just hunting for his location now? True Mortal: The gates hold the key to capturing Isathaara. True Mortal: Each gate was imbued with certain properties that, when combined will give you an edge when it's time to face Isathaara. True Mortal: Each guardian is infused with a bit of the power of the other guardians. No single guardian could handle Isathaara on his or her own. True Mortal: We discovered quickly that only by our combined powers were we able to stop him. True Mortal: You are receiving a bit of that power when you attune yourself to each gate. True Mortal: The process will be complete when you reach the final gate. True Mortal: At that time, we will go on the offensive. When that time comes, I will give you more information. <Character>: Sounds reasonable. True Mortal: Good, then if you will step through the gate, you will be transported to the valley of the Triton. True Mortal: There you will find the next gate and challenge that awaits you. Search for the Ocean Gate, as you fight the monsters. Once you have fought all the monsters, proceed and talk to Kuli-ana. Kuli-ana: Greetings Hero, and welcome to my home. I have been waiting for you for a very long time. You have done well to come this far. Kuli-ana: I know of the challenges you have faced thus far, and I have an idea of what awaits you when your task with the gates is complete. Kuli-ana: That is when the real work begins now. Here and now, however, it falls upon me to test you. Kuli-ana: You might have noticed some discomfort, perhaps even a reduction in your overall health. This is to be expected at this depth. Kuli-ana: Despite your ability to breath freely here in the depths, water pressure this deep is still great. Kuli-ana: To win through here you will need to demonstrate your endurance. I have brought several heroes here to assist me. Kuli-ana: You must fight your way to the gate. Good luck. Fight your way through more monsters, as well as several heroes as a test of endurance. After doing so: Kuli-ana: Your skill and endurance serve you well. It is this kind of trait that will help you in the long fights, when the chance to rest becomes slim. <Character>: What's with all the testing? Kuli-ana: There are a number of traits that we test, and each one interacts. Kuli-ana: Skill in fighting, intelligence, and endurance all combine to create a more powerful being. Kuli-ana: Your great skills will serve you well in the future. From what I have seen of your honor, you shall do well. Kuli-ana: Despite our belief in our security at the depths of the ocean, Isathaara came to our underwater city, much to our surprise. Kuli-ana: The destruction wrought was beyond belief. Many people, trapped in cages of ice, were lost. It was this event which set things into motion. Kuli-ana: The Avatar of Water, who had long maintained a neutral state on the issue, realized the danger and chose to act. Kuli-ana: It was she who proposed that each would protect their own domain. The gates were commissioned, and placed across Lore... Kuli-ana: ... both above and below the surface. The most secure gate was to be the water gate. Kuli-ana: This gate, at the greatest depths of the ocean would be doubly protected, both by water and pressure. <Character>: What exactly is this place anyway? Kuli-ana: Once, a great city, a center of culture and learning, towered above the waves here. The city was mostly destroyed by a volcanic eruption. Kuli-ana: This temple is all that remains. Well, that and a LOT of statues. <Character>: The statues... <Character>: Who are they of? Kuli-ana: I don't know exactly. They have been here for ages. Well before I was made a Guardian by the Avatar of Water. Kuli-ana: I wish I could tell you more, but I can't tell you what I don't know.
