Riprose123 -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/21/2014 19:41:36)

Still haven't been able to post my intro/read anything past the first post IC-wise. Working on it now.

Bastet -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/21/2014 20:36:25)

Name: Symphony

Age/Race/Gender: Symphony is somewhere between a spirit and a human, being the result of two beings fusing togheter. Due to this, age and gender have lost meaning when applied to them. Chronologically, combining both Symphony’s age and the girl’s, they would be a little over their twenties.

Physical Appearance: The result of the union kept the appearance of the girl that once was, with a small amount of differences. Symphony isn’t particularly tall or short, standing at 5’6”. The most noticeable difference between Symphony and the original human form is the difference in hair and eye colour. The former changed into a shade of blue undistinguishable from violet, while their eyes became a bright orange, almost glowing. The rest is fairly unremarkable: fair skin complements their petite physique. Because of their origin, any magic sensitive creature will sense large concentrations of a unique kind of it in them.

Personality: Symphony is a very jovial character, who lets their wanderlust drive them to explore the world. They often avoid influencing the world directly, as they feel they don’t have the right to.

Armor/Clothing: Symphony’s attire is about as noticeable as her physical appearance. They wear a gold-hemmed black shirt, tightened by a belt, along with pants of the same colour. On their head sits a wide flame-red hat, with a golden plume attached to its top. Their guitar is often tied to their back, when not in use.

Weapons: Their instrument is the only weapon they accept to use.

Other Items: Symphony doesn’t carry anything but their clothes and guitar. They have no need for anything else.

Skills: To defend herself or to help others, Symphony has developed their own kind of spellcasting. Through their instrument, they can cast spells from any school of magic. Each spell requires different kinds of notes to be played in specific sequences that have to be memorized by them, the more powerful the magic the longer the sequence. Due to their relatively young age, they only have a vague knowledge of what notes produce which kinds of magic. Notes can’t randomly be stringed togheter, the spell will fizzle if not following a specific sequence.
They also seem to be able to sense secrets and know things they shouldn’t, though they don’t make remarks about what they learn with anyone but the one they drew the knowledge from. They enjoy leaving people confused by commenting things they kept to themselves.
Unlike a regular human, they have no need to sustain themselves through eating, drinking or sleeping.

History: Symphony is the result of a fusion between a dying girl and the spirit that inhabited the theatre of a village that has long since been destroyed. It was a mostly pacifist town, relying on trade and agriculture to survive. A band of highwaymen took notice of the village’s lack of a true militia, and it wasn’t long until they found a way to exploit it. On the eve of one of the most important festivities the community celebrated, most of the populace was attending an exhibition inside the local theatre. The bandits immediately took care of the small amount of undistracted citizens, and locked the opera building from the outside while setting it on fire. The raging inferno consumed the disorganized mass of fleeting people, even trampling the girl under their cruel steps. After the situation had stabilized again, a mysterious spirit appeared over the girl’s body. She, ironically, hadn’t even been harmed by the flames, but by the cruelty of man. Rapidly bleeding out, the last thing the girl did before expiring was accept the benign spirit’s offer to merge with her to save her life. A feeling of peace enveloped her, fusing their two beings.
She woke up not long after, combining the girl’s consciousness and appearance with the spirit’s magic. Not even once did the girl turn back as she fled the village, vowing to leave her old life and embrace the spirit’s gift. She gradually learned from the spirit’s knowledge how to play her instrument and how it could channel magic, even calling herself Symphony to put as much distance between the memories of her supposed death.
Merged wholly, they went from towns to villages, exploring the world as the girl had never seen it.
Their travels eventually brought them to Darkwald, their objective in life to master the use of the magic guitar and wander the world as the girl never could.

Might be a bit rough around the edges, as I haven't had the chance to scrutinize it thoroughly.
Let me know if I should change anything.

Tdub -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/21/2014 23:51:25)

The response is up. I'm sure Lock looks quite threatening with a black eyes and a woman's coat. He's still likely to cut and run, so hopefully this is convincing.

As usual, if there are any issues, let me know.

blankmaskara -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/22/2014 13:09:51)

Name: Franklin Fullrich

Age/Race/Gender: mid-20s/Human/Male

Physical Appearance: Although sunken eyes with irises of a dark, dirty crimson stand out amidst Franklin's face, several scars, scrathes, and specks of dust balance--and maybe even dull--this out, along the way darkening what would be pale white skin. Besides that, streaks of grey can be found in his otherwise dark black nest of curly, unkempt hair.

His body, on the other hand, may seem to be the typical figure of a journey-worn traveler, but upon closer inspection, it isn't quite. It is indeed certain that majority of his body looks average and nourished well enough, with some degree of muscular strength found within his legs and left arm (although a slight limp on his left leg can be seen). However, the right half of his face and his remaining arm are a different story.

His arm and the right side of his face seem stripped down to the bones, with nothing more than grey, dying skin to cover up these skeleton-like features of his body. Besides that, numerous ominous, runic tattoos cover these, taking on a harsh red glow whenever Franklin taps into his mana.

Armor/Clothing:
Disillusioned by his past, Franklin no longer sees nor finds any importance, or pleasure, in wearing ostentatious accessories and extravagant garments. Instead, he chooses to take on a drab, tanned cloak with long sleeves with more than enough room to hide a few tricks and traps. Under this is a simple grey undershirt, torn and tattered throughout his numerous travels.

Below his torso, however, is a simple, yet durable, pair of dirtied cream trousers, ending abruptly at his ankles. From then on, straw sandals are the only articles of clothing/protection that remain.

Weapons: Franklin carries a simple, gnarled wooden stave with sharp, wicked branches portruding out of one end to defend himself. Although seemingly simple, the branches seem to be arranged in a circular manner, as if forming some sort of space for an orb to be mounted upon. He uses this staff mainly as a walking stick and a means to cast spells/channel his mana.

Numerous knives and darts are also hidden within the sleeves of his cloak, tucked into straps sewn inside, securing and fastening them so as to ensure they don't fall out and drop, lost to the unknown, ominous lands of the Darkwald.

Other Items: Just like any other journeyman, Franklin carries the typical rucksack containing a few potions, herbs, maps, as well as some rations. He also carries a rag of sorts, with stains of spilt blood, carrying a terrifying aura with it.

Skills: Gifted with a sharp mind and intelligence beyond that of an average person (or spellcaster), Franklin can decipher complicated, strange runes that others would struggle to comprehend. His mind also knows a way or two around a few of the spells that foes may cast upon him.

Besides this, despite not being too capable in a fight (what with his cursed arm), Franklin is exceptional at gathering information from his surroundings, and is also gifted with uncanny aim, allowing him to pinpoint and take down enemies without having to confront them head-on.

Abilities:

- Accursed: Although for the most part harmful, the curse does provide a few benefits. It gives him an attunement and aptitude for the more dark, demonic magics, giving access to spells that he would've never even known of before. Besides that, it also grants him tattoos upon parts of his body (the right side of his face and his arm) that repel, at best, weak physical attacks like a punch with no effort. However, the tattoos, when hit by any form of magic, enhance the damage dealt to Franklin. His ability to cast spells and tap into his own personal mana is also severely limited, allowing him to cast only two to four spells at a time.

- Midnight's Shroud: Using a portion of his mana, Franklin can create a cloak of pure, murky darkness to keep him hidden during the night. It, fortunately, isn't too difficult too keep active, allowing him to have it remain for an hour or two, although the slightest bit of distraction will make this dissipate.

- Shadowflame: Franklin can create a ball of black flame and hurl it towards his target, inflicting mild burns and creating a small cloud of ash and smoke around the victim. He may also envelop his knives in darts in this fire, although this may take some time.

History:

Franklin was innocent once.

At one point in time, life was still peaceful and untainted, with the accursed traveler being nothing more than a young boy belonging to a family of farmers, everyday doing his part by helping his relatives out in the fields. Life then was simple, quiet, and his soul remained pure.

However, upon discovering his aptitude for magic and becoming the local magician's apprentice, things started to change. With each and every spell that he learnt, his ego grew, his heart slowly starting to ache for something more than a quiet life with a family out in the fields. He soon found his family and friends nearly impossible to get along with, as they were not gifted. They didn't have that spark. Besides, they didn't even have the power that he so craved for.

Eventually, the magician came to know of Franklin's change, and started to teach him less, in fear of what he might become. Even the boy noticed this, with every questioned that he asked refused, and with every plead for something new to learn about ignored. He knew. And so, with nobody left to teach him, Franklin turned to black magic, hoping to summon and make a contract with a demon who would help him grow stronger. However, instead of a contract, he was left a curse to haunt him for the rest of his life and the faint traces of brimstone and blood left by the demon after a brief struggle with its would-be-master.

The town council soon came to learn of the mage's foolish, dangerous acts and banished him. From then on, Franklin has been traveling looking for a place or a person who can help him further his goals as well as the very demon that destroyed his life. And now, his search has led him to Darkwald.

Eukara Vox -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/22/2014 15:16:46)

It's unbecoming a DM to ignore potential players, especially when it seems everyone else was taken care of but one. I am extremely disappointed. In the future, TJ, you might want to make sure you pay attention to any and all potential players. Whatever interest I had in this RP is now gone. Good luck to those who are participating.

Draycos777 -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/22/2014 16:35:55)

While you may have a point Eukara, I have a few problems with your post. The wording you chose was harsh, if fact I was taken aback by it since I don't normally see you talk in such a matter. But then again that may just be me. I can understand the feeling of waiting for awhile to have a question answer while everyone gets their turn but you, however, TJ is human and may have accidentally missed your post. Its not the first time an RPer would have done that and it wont be the last. I've remember waiting for my third and final part of the RPA to be reviewed by the mods, while bios in the first part were reviewed before my post did. Does that mean I should call this action unbecoming? No. They're human and may only had time to review and approve bios or didn't realize that part three had a new post in it; TJ is no different. I don't know maybe you had a bad day and you worded this wrong without knowing, or maybe you didn't have a bad day and I'm reading it wrong, but that fact remains that its misleading.

Also this:
quote:

Whatever interest I had in this RP is now gone.

If this was the case then why even post this? I don't see the reason other to make TJ take a guilt trip which isn't very nice. The RP section is suppose to be a happy place of fun and good stories, not confrontational (unless it's part of the story:P). I don't see how this is suppose to look anything but that to any newcomers that might happen upon this.

This is only my opinion of the matter and doesn't really mean much. I just feel this could have been said less hostile, though I'm sure you didn't mean it.

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/22/2014 17:16:27)

@Eukara Vox: I'm sorry I ignored you Eukara, but that was not my intention. Looking back in the pages, I saw you posted with a question:
quote:

Question: Would you accept a half-vampire? As in... mysteriously half vampire by birth? I specialise in these types...

But I also said I was too busy to really look over things that day, and I guess I accidentally overlooked the previous posts the next time I got online. I'm sorry for any inconvenience, and I am very sorry I disappointed you, Eukara, as that was not my intention in the slightest. You should have posted a bio Eukara and let me review it, or you should have asked your question again, or at least reminded me with another post or via PM. If you're still interested in the RP Eukara, I will still check over a bio, especially because you're one of the more comfortable names around here; a half-vampire would be absolutely fine though. But once again, sorry for any inconvenience.

EDIT: Lockwood's problem with Howard Phillips has piqued my interest. It's this down-to-earth, underworld type of stuff I enjoy reading. Sure, mages casting fireballs and dragonslayers fighting dragons is cool and all, but I really enjoy the simple folk, such as Kell's Marietta.

Legendium -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/23/2014 13:26:35)

I corrected the time problem in my post. Heinrich took a detour to the inn, which made him come in when he did.

Bastet -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/23/2014 15:46:41)

I'll get working on a post as soon as my bio is checked and possibly approved, I don't want to risk falling too far behind.

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/23/2014 16:02:01)

I'll try to chek these two new bios out when I get home I reckon.

Zephyrial -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/23/2014 23:20:32)

Posted!

Sorry about the delay - I'm on holiday at the moment. Hope you all have a good Christmas!

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 11:35:41)

@Bastet: An interesting character, Symphony is accepted!

@blankmaskara: Franklin is alright, and I already have some ideas in mind for what I could do with him. Accepted.

Draycos777 -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 12:15:17)

XD Kit is going to have a field day with Toren for his reaction.

It'll have to be later although since I'm traveling today.

P.S: Merry Christmas ( or any thing else you might celebrate) everyone [;)]

black knight 1234567 -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 12:31:17)

My internet subscription ran out for a few days and I was pretty on edge because I didn't want to keep you guys waiting haha.
I'll check the IC in a moment and if Dray posted i'll post after him.

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 13:12:14)

You guys are fine, I know some of you are busy. If you feel like you're falling behind, we'll work things out. I'm not a hard person to work with.

Legendium -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 13:26:51)

I probably won't be able to post until after Friday/Saturday. Hopefully nothing too important will happen during that time.

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 14:01:34)

Shouldn't. Just some replies to Toren is all. I will wait till after holidays to advance the story.

Kellehendros -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 14:09:17)

There isn't a lot for me to do at this juncture. Marietta will continue to watch, and soak up the warmth of fire and tea, unless she is directly addressed by someone.

While she has her opinions on the matter, she's too cautious of others to jump in at this point.

Gingkage -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 16:16:56)

So apparently Sera is going to be "that person." The one that's intentionally difficult. I apologize in advance. I didn't actually create her with this belligerent side. It just sorta... showed up.

Legendium -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 16:22:35)

Well, to be honest, I think it makes more sense to stay in character and find alternative ways of developing the story than to force the character into a decision that wouldn't naturally occur.

Riprose123 -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 19:05:09)

Just as an FYI, I still need to post an intro, but it probably won't be until friday or saturday.

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 20:31:59)

@Gingkage: That's fine Ging; I remember RPing as a character who took on a personality of their own; it was far different than what I had intended. Sometimes this happens and you just gotta go with it. You gotta let the character be the character. Sometimes they roleplay themselves.

@Rip: That's fine.

Gingkage -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/24/2014 21:02:08)

@TJ: I know. It's not the first time that happened. I had a character make tea one time in an RP, and that just ended up becoming her thing. I never planned that. It just kinda happened. I've already accepted that I have zero control over what my characters do or say. It's half the fun of writing them. :D

I do, however, apologize in advance for any difficulties Sera decides to bring.

Bastet -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/25/2014 3:49:14)

As a side note, I really can't wait for Heinrich's reaction to my character.

Draycos777 -> RE: The Hallows Inn - Accepting (12/25/2014 9:32:49)

Done traveling, will get started on kit's post when I get the chance.
