I have no idea what the argument is even about at this point :

ShadowMoon -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 7:16:15)

@above there is no argument, just a discussion

quote:

huuuuuum, not sure about that, first of all, so far as i know that is only true for AQW, in DF seppy's canon might be different from that

seppy's last words in DF.

Sepulchure: No.... no... Lynaria....

not gravelyn, but lynaria. generally, npcs tend to keep the same basic roles across each game like artix being a paladin/undeadslayer, serenity being an inn keeper, twig being a trouble making nuisance, victoria having the alternate ego robina and being one of alteon daughter's ect

TheFarReach -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 8:06:34)

I think it came from Lore Questions 2, but for some reason I can't actually find the thread.

LyRein -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 11:48:38)

Wargoth could never exist as he and the Professor are one in Warlic, who will never be able to go on a rampage because of magic restrictions.

Xan would never exist as he could never get the Pyronomicon, which is what made him so dangerous.
The Magic Academy in Swordhaven will become much stricter, pranks and duels in-between or after classes would count as breaking the law and there would likely be older students and teachers patrolling the corridors.

People like Noxus couldn't be as powerful without the Necronomicon either.

They would all be put down before they could take action.

The Rose, under Jaania, will have confiscated these things and placed full protection with magic defenses around them.
They are much more prepared and organized than you think, I mean, after the events of Book I, do you really think they'd forget about guarding us from external threats?

Imaru -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 13:16:21)

I would have to disagree. The rose is only trying to eliminate or capture low-level magic at this point in time. In order for them to have enough power to stop Sepe from rising up again or 4 any other power outside of our universe from infiltrating they would need to use a tremendous amount of magic from other sources not just magical items. All of your arguments are about whether or not if magic existed with this of happen or this person came to power. That's not what we're debating right now though magic exists currently. People already know how to use magic. So by placing restrictions now you are stopping the magic from protecting the people who need to protect.

Brasca123 -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 13:29:55)

@above. not exactly that... i mean, surely, the main point of the discussion is if what the rose is doing is right or not

what lyrein is trying to show is that, in the hypothetical scenario that the rose was on power on book 1 already, they might've stopped the big threats before they actually became big enough to be nearly unstoppable

that is kinda holding true for pretty much all villains we've had so far, so, basically speaking, the point is, rose's method aren't good, but they get the job done, they are indeed protecting the people, which is why the rose is more of a grey antagonist instead of a clear enemy, it's an organization that does it's job in helping people, even if they hurt others in the process... which is a lot better than what alteon was doing, in which he lost his whole army to a single mage (granted, it was a SUPER DUPER MEGA POWERED MAGE, but well, he wasn't able to do anything after that was he? the rose on the other hand is doing a good job keeping people protected... even if they are hurting magical beings in the process, so, a grey organization, has good and bad points to it)

Dark Lord Urmi -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 13:52:51)

i do wonder....what would the rose do after they angered the "im invincible lololo" safiria...she existed a lot longer than anyone else. makes buildings go poof and im still quite sure the shapeless would have to deal with the rose at some point as they are trying to kill their entire civilization.

Wolfofdoom3 -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 13:54:24)

^They will just use silver?

Dark Lord Urmi -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 13:56:17)

^ yeah because we saw how well that worked.

then we have kathool who would mind control the rose to give him the orb of water and make him invincible. they would literally hand him the orb.

LyRein -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 14:04:57)

@above

Except the orbs would never be in possession of a random fodder rose member.
They would always be near Jaania, who is a major character and therefore is protected by plot armour

Dark Lord Urmi -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 14:08:41)

the rose took years to find a hidden village i wonder how long it would take for them to find the locker in the ocean and since magic items potions included would be banned the water wouldn't be breathable as that would be an "affront to nature"....their incompetence knows no bounds also its far more likely to be in ark's hands while jaania feels good about herself.

Wolfofdoom3 -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 14:32:58)

Um?It worked preety well.They just need a safe distance and a vintage point.Also do you realise they have dragons?They could shot silver arrows while flying.

LyRein -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 14:34:57)

you're no longer worth talking to

Wolfofdoom3 -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 14:36:37)

You guys are forgetting that Rose actually does use magic.But not a whole lot.

Dark Lord Urmi -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 14:40:24)

lol im no longer worth talking to because im right? they say it in game go to book three talk to the current innkeeper :P

exact quote time "falconreach is one of the few places left where the rose hasn't taken root. we still support magic here. Every day. travelers come with new stories of the rose and their message though. who could hate moglins? fairies? potions? not all magic is bad... if only the bad magic wasn't so powerful.. i miss serenity."

dont respond to me if you are just going to act like that :/

Xrenzokr -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 14:41:02)

Someone please enlighten me of DF's geography >.>

This week's event is going to take place in the island-continent of Maar, right? And this place is located south-west from the Kingdom of Greenguard, alternatively called "The Land of Dragons" where many Dragons fled towards and apparently Dragons exist in other places too and Akriloth is not native to the Land of Dragons but from Pelekoa, a city in the island of Maar. What is the place of Azaveyr? Is it where the Roirr saga takes place? And we're gonna see these two twins, survivors of Akriloth's wrath, as Jaania's personal bodyguards in Swordhaven, right?

LyRein -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 15:51:37)

@DLU

You're no longer worth talking to because you have no idea what we're talking about.

Potions would be banned for civilians (for obvious reasons) but the Rose would definitely use them.
The world is not so black and white, why would they not use magic if put in a life or death situation where magic will save them?

Seriously...

Gingkage -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 15:58:47)

You've been told to take a deep breath and calm down. The bickering stops. Now. If the pointless arguing continues, posts will be deleted, and consequences will be had. ~Gingkage

Dark Lord Urmi -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 16:02:13)

these things happen when the rose is involved mind sets clash it will happen every time. ive been calm this entire time debating my point...i wont continue debating why the rose is wrong though if im going to get in trouble for it.

Brasca123 -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 16:23:26)

@Xrenzokr. uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhn... i kinda gave up on understanding DF's geography the moment they changed the map from book 1 to book 3, it became too confusing for me, i just assume it exists somewhere on lore and hope i'm right, it usually works

LyRein -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 18:08:54)

@above & Xrenzokr

Isn't Azaveyr the wing shaped continent to the West of Dragonia/Battleonia?

I think Maar is inbetween them, a bit south?

@below

The Rose wouldn't have this much power in the first place if they were that weak

ShadowMoon -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 18:09:12)

right now the problem is not that magic needs to be regulated, but that the rose needs to be.
the rose has to much power & is filled with people who are prejudice against magic. its all good until you realize that as they are right now, is the same way the natzi's where when they started to descend from being a organization for a better Germany to world conquerors with concentration camps.
on the topic of magic, its not something that should be restricted. the rose would be better off becoming a clean up crew. because let's face it, they don't really stand much of a chance against a beings like roirr or kathool.
also, people seem to be underestimating just how many restrictions the rose is placing & just how easily this can turn into a bigger mess then the two books prior.

Nitewolf -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 18:11:12)

@Xrenzokr Yes, Azaveyr is the continent where the Roirr saga takes place. Roirr calls the entire Eastern Continent (not Maar) 'the land of dragons' because of its shape (a dragon's head facing left) and because the dragons that were in Azaveyr have all left and travelled east.

And This post from Geo on the first page of this thread shows you where Maar is

As Jaania's personal guards they will be wherever she is so I expect we will indeed meet them in Swordhaven

Imaru -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 18:55:29)

Is the update live?

Dark Lord Urmi -> RE: =DF= Design Notes February 9, 2016 - Jaania's Thorns (2/12/2016 19:15:50)

not yet. id say give it an hour.
