Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (4/25/2011 6:00:34)

*A skull lying before a dented Guardian shield.*

A card is played ....

CHAPTER VI is up!

This chapter contains fighting, riddles, backstory and jokes.

Great story! I love how the Orc talks, you captured their dialect perfectly. Chopchop seems to be the best orcish name for a device like that, I like it.

Azer knew that he had little chance of success and casted another sphere of light and drew his wooden sword.

Should that be cast? It has a better ring to it but I am never sure which is right or not :/

What did he sit on?

Also, first you say that the gem is a ruby, then later a diamond

There is a creature bred to hunt Guardians? Very cool! Is that something from AQ or did you invent them?

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (4/28/2011 13:35:31)

@Mritha: Thanks, I fixed the typos.

The ruby the protagonist found was not magical, nor the same gem that the bandit leader used.
Besides, if you had a diamond with that kind of power, would you carelessly let it unwatched in your tent?
(Knowing his friends were coming for him and could bump into you?)

As for your last question, take a look at this handsome guy and tell me if I catched his features well enough in my story.

Mritha -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (4/28/2011 22:50:24)

Ahh didn't notice that. I thought they were the same gem :)

hahaha you captured his features beautifully [;)]

CHAPTER VII: "Over Dinner"

To celebrate the 40% of the Final War against Sepulchure.

I will not be able to make the coming chapters for 60 and 80%, for this I apologize.
Expect the first up-coming chapter this summer.

lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/7/2011 0:21:28)

I'm only up to chapter 4, but I really love how you portrayed Orcs here. I'm not sure if this is what they actually act in AQ but they really remind me of Warhammer 40k Orks sans the blood lust. Doc Weyrd talks funny.

Question though, why did the Dravir kill Azer's family? Who sent him?

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/7/2011 4:14:48)

@lordkaho: The orcs (or Ulgathi) in AQ are a proud race, they prefer to let other races fight their wars while they reap the rewards.
Doc Weyrd is one of the Ulgathi who provides the rest of the race their weaponry and fancy gadgets.

Unfortunately the first part of your question is a rather big fish in the plot I cannot show shore yet*, as for the second, it was not so much a who as a what.

*Although I thought it was quite clear, seems it remained vague and mysterious nonetheless even without my intention of doing so.

lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/7/2011 4:28:39)

^

I see. Anyway, the Ulgathi are actually pretty awesome.

I'll be reading the other chapters now.

lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/11/2011 23:30:11)

Well that was entertaining.

The characters are fun and I like your use of "breaking the fourth wall". The story so far has a nice balance of humor, action and intrigue.

Though I'm wondering; you once mentioned your character to be Dragon Commander Azer. Does that imply something that he'll be a Dragon Lord someday?

Also, Seekers. Oh I remember them. It was back when AQ was the only AE game and I met them all of a sudden. Oh the harsh memories.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/12/2011 4:11:50)

@lordkaho: I'm glad to read you enjoy it.

The name is actually older than my DF character, my AQ character once had the name Azer (I was not aware of the fact this was also the name of a race of fire dwarves in D&D) who I, presumably in an act of divination, dubbed Dragoncommander.

Now the thing is, non-DA are no dragonlords so I made the remark in a thread that non-DA must be dragonmasters then.
Rolith popped up saying Dragonmasters too need a Dragon Amulet, so I began to think if we're not dragonlords nor dragonmasters what on earth Lore are we? Some dragontrainer (read elementizing charmander) who we feed and train till he gains new forms (Toddler/Titan).

Then it was apparent to me that the name "Dragoncommander" was actually the best to go with, so to answer your question, no Azer will not become a dragonlord. If you read my entry in the story contest, you'd know he becomes to despise them at later age.

lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/12/2011 4:57:46)

Interesting. So I presume you are going to show Dragon Lords in a slightly different light here or is this just a case of status discrimination?

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/12/2011 5:04:56)

@lordkaho: It's not that he sees them as "evil", he just does not agree with their way.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Post #49

I was both a spy to the D.U.M. due to my master's allegiance to them and a seeker of dragon magic and after doing some asking around, I found out that I was not the only person fascinated by dragons and their magic. We came together in an inn, promising eachother to return with our findings within a year. Before said year went by, all of them but me had become either infamous dragonmasters, or renowned dragonlords. I felt betrayed and alone in my convictions, still wandering Lore in search of answers. I found and documented much, but little of it was the dragon magic I sought.

lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/20/2011 18:55:21)

quote:

Jeanne would likely become obsessed with Azer

Does this hint something about his relation with Dragons?

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/21/2011 16:25:57)

@lordkaho: Well, obviously someone blessed with the "holy speech" and "holy magic" would make a target of obsession for Jeanne though that one might fear that she learns of what a certain fleshless entity taught this person.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/24/2011 8:58:42)

CHAPTER VIII: "Reality and Dreams"

lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/24/2011 22:41:35)

quote:

past the sated bookworms

Wait are these literally book worms or does this imply that there are others who live in the Dravir mage's lair? Lol'd at the reference by the way.

It seems you're building the Lich to be a sympathetic character. I wonder if he can raise the bones of his fallen dravir comrades to his side. You know, friend ship that transcends over death and all that?

I'm slightly confused with the chapter ending though. Did Azer learn nature magic or did the Seeker do that?

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/25/2011 7:32:23)

@lordkaho: Bookworms help out the dravir mage with weeding out false literature, such as the prophecy this guy will grow up to someone of importance. Should they destroy any real works they will incur his wrath and most likely end up as an Arroc-snack.

As for the lich, he merely sees that those who were loyal to him in life would make good companions in undeath so should he ever lose control he will not become victim to his former servants. He could of course bring back dravir, but he reserves that for special events.

The chapter ends with a prophetic dream, but a dream nonetheless so things might not be 100% clear.

Did you read the chapter with the music? I proof-read it and the music should last just long enough for the entire chapter to be finished.

lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (10/25/2011 10:43:30)

Yes I did. In fact it ended just as I was done reading the last sentence. Nice choice for a mood setter. I too have a special track resevered for a very fateful event.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (11/25/2011 18:12:34)

I'm currently working on the next chapter and will add something to the story which has been missing thus far.

And that is?

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (11/26/2011 7:23:32)

@lordkaho: Some physical training which would make all knights of the inquisition save for Jeanne break down in agony.

lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (11/26/2011 7:25:37)

Does it include a training montage with cheap 80's music? lol

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (11/26/2011 15:41:01)

CHAPTER IX: "To forge the steel while it's hot"

@lordkaho: Here is some cheap 80's music, might change your view on the chapter a bit though.

Varen6398 -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (11/26/2011 16:20:57)

I've read two of your chapters so far, and I am pretty impressed with your writing. Once I have finished reading through it all, I will post some proper constructive comments.
