lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/24/2012 2:13:55)

Wait so the Dravir Mage's command acted both as a desummoning spell AND a way to summon forth a Light Elemental?

For some reason, I half expected the Adalon to get stubborn and become unstable, forcing the Dravir mage to forcefully desummon it.

So what plane of Element will he study next?

Glais -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/24/2012 3:33:18)

Err, I said I'd start this months ago D: Eell, I finally made it now. Currently read chapters one and two.
I like it so far though there's a few typos here and there (Difficult for me to point them out now, can't quote properly). I expected the Lich I had heard so much about to be the one Dravir, but it turns out they're friends. Interesting.

The Orc, Doc Weyrd sounds like a cool guy.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/24/2012 5:11:12)

@lordkaho: Let me explain, the Greater Adalon's purpose was to fetch a Light Elemental. So when it started to implode, it was actually teleported into the Plane of Light. It is possible to do so through more immediate means, but this form is considered to be more .... polite.

Furthermore, an Adalon is a golem which means that, with some exceptions, it does not have a will of its own.

The chapter's end hints at the fact that it'll be harder to find elementals who wish to share their wisdom with mortals, though there are more grey areas that have yet to be explored.

@glaisaurus_x: I thought you might like him. He's certainly different from the usual warrior Ulgathi as will become apparent in future chapters.

Exactly. Though this may be minor, I thought it wouldn't buy Azers "What he said" command and would prefer him to be more specific. But that aside, it was pretty nice to see Azer dabbler into a higher power, compared to what we last saw him at the hands of the Seeker.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/24/2012 5:58:56)

@lordkaho: You have to consider Azer is still an apprentice. He may have been trained from young age, but his training was that of a jack-of-trades so he knows a little bit of everything*. The ability to summon a greater Adalon might sound useful at first, but it draws unwanted attention and the Adalon takes a while to fully materialize so he probably won't make much use of that spell.

*Except for monsters about which he knows quite a lot.

lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/24/2012 7:14:56)

^

So he's a Dragonmaster AND a summoner/conjurer?

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/24/2012 8:06:24)

@lordkaho: Currently, he's nowhere near being a dragonmaster. He can summon a greater adalon* along with some less impressive ones, but he has no particular affinity for summoning creatures to the battlefield.

*This is considered to be one of his "greater" abilities, seeing it draws from two elements.

Glais -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/27/2012 19:44:25)

Read 3&4, this getting quite interesting! I really like the main duo so far. They have a sort of pairing that just works.

Ayhow, this left me with a couple of questions.
What's a Kruath'Ri?
Where does this take place? At first I thout...somewhere in AQ's domain, but then Pactogonal Knights were mentioned. They also mention "The King" and I've never known a human King in AQ.

lordkaho -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/27/2012 19:47:13)

^

The title does mention AQ/DF. But I'm guessing this story is leaning more to AQ.

Glais -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/27/2012 19:58:47)

That of course brings up why Alteon's men are in AQ territory...and why Dravir have immigrated there, though I suspect that one will be explained.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/28/2012 10:50:06)

@glaisaurus_x:

quote:

What's a Kruath'Ri?

I would think that the invention should say enough to an AQ-player such as yourself. Kruath'Ri are a creator race who survived the coming of the'Galin and are yet (if ever) to submerge in Dragonfable. Deren is governed by one of their kind.

Glais -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/28/2012 10:55:50)

Ah gotcha.

And well, I hardly play AQ. I try to keep up with the basic story but I've never been too great at it. There's still a lot I'm in the dark about.

Anyhow, will read 5&6 today, which ahould be good if the last few are anything to go by.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/28/2012 11:12:37)

@glaisaurus_x: They're probably the best (most exciting) chapters yet.

Glais -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (2/28/2012 19:21:32)

quote:

"Well cow, at least us green folk stick together."

xD

Anyhow, those were very good chapters indeed. Funny how you said you jumped to a boring part as I actually found chapter 5 very interesting and story-building. Funny how they haven't noticed how long Azer's been gone though.

And for some reason, I imagine Volu looking like one of Miltonius' ArchFiends. I suppose looks could theoretically differ anyhow.

I like "the team" you have going now though, Azer, Doc Weyrd, and Volu. Teams are fun, so many stories have such solitary characters.

EDIT:2 chapters until I'm caught up. Funny, I've been commenting the entire time, even though only now am I entitled to xD

Anyhow, too bad the team was split up so fast, but Azer had to go home sometime. Volu and Doc seem to to dislike each other quite a bit...

I also wonder why his parents or guardians and such were killed at the beginning, odd...

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/4/2012 6:43:40)

@glaisaurus_x: My reasoning was that people who read the story that far were actually interested in it, thus worthy of commenting on it.

The team will re-assemble in time, but not until we've got some plot advancement.

Volu dislikes Doc since he tried to collect the bounty on his head and Doc distrusts Volu because of his demonic nature, I'd be more concerned if they became best friends in an instant.

//error: subject's jaw cannot handle revelation

Glais -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/4/2012 16:15:08)

Makes sense. Anyways tackling one of the last chapters now. So you made the Clawkin a sentient race? Huh, odd. Or maybe I'm just biased against them, I hate Clawkin...

Also, Kimilani? Amilani? Silani?

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/4/2012 16:54:22)

@glaisaurus_x: Clawkin seemed the logical choice here, seeing hardly anything sentient that can climb lives in the Dragonfable forests.

The Kimilani, Amilani and Silani are the ancestors of the Kruath'Ri, Elani, Ulgathi and humans. Which explains why the races can have children together.

Glais -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/4/2012 16:58:53)

Hm true, nothing in particular comes to mind, unless you were to invent something, but that would be both confusing and/or tedious.

Eh, I just hate Clawkins that much.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/4/2012 17:01:56)

@glaisaurus_x: Any particular reason? (So I might remedy that in my story.)

Glais -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/4/2012 17:07:10)

Honestly...it's just the art. I think they look dumb and found it odd many people seem to advocate making them a fleshed out race.

Obviously, if a character's personality is good enough, then that really doesn't matter, but as I never considered them a sentient race in DF, the entire situation strikes me as odd.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/4/2012 17:15:25)

@glaisaurus_x: That's probably because of the revelation that Furies are sentient and can speak.

I'm not saying I'm a big favourite of their art, but did you mistake their hair for their nose like I did?

Glais -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/4/2012 17:19:05)

No, I've just always thought they looked weird. Also, what are those growths on their backs? >_>

Hm, I could see Furies being sentient. They must be really instinct based like Dragons then, so most people don't notice.

EDIT:Finished. The end confused me a bit, though now the actual plot may be starting up...

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/7/2012 17:40:24)

CHAPTER XI: "Light in Sight"

@glaisaurus_x: I thought it was pretty clear. What exactly confused you?

Glais -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/7/2012 18:03:04)

I don't remember what it was exactly, but I believe the Light Elemental showing up and then leaving. And I didn't quite understand the Adalon, except that it means DravirMage wishes to venture into the Light Realm.

EDIT:Read what's up so far and I really enjoyed it! You're great at getting the atmosphere set, something I wish I could do in my own story <_> Though I think ch.5 worked...anyways, Darkovia really...felt like Darkovia. Can't wait to see what else is there.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: (AQ/DF) Legacy of Blood (3/8/2012 12:51:52)

@glaisaurus_x: Most of what you seek is mentioned in my dialogue with lordkaho at the top of this page, suffice to say that the Adalon was required to politely invite the light elemental to share the wisdom of light.

Really? I thought it lacked some generic horror film music.
