Ruby: Aha! You! Just the adventurer I was hoping to see!
<Character>: Er. Hi, Ruby, I was actually just about to stop into the inn for some bread...
<Character>: I think I'll pass on the free sample for today.
Ruby: What? No! That's not what you're here for!
Ruby: It just so happens that my stew is missing a very important ingredient and only you can help!
<Character>: Only me?
Ruby: Only. You.
<Character>: ...Do I even have a—
Ruby: Deep in the web infested caves under Falconreach, there's a special tree, the only one of its kind in this land!
Ruby: And that tree... grows a very special fruit!
Ruby: The Brittle Humapple has very soft flesh, almost like a porridge. Tended to by spiders, the fruit becomes encased in a fragile lacy webbing.
Ruby: I need you to bring me one!
<Character>: It can't be anyone else? It has to be me?
Ruby: Indeed! I should warn you, however, that given how fragile the fruit is, if you take too many hits on your way back, it might just explode!
Ruby: Serendipitously, the fruit grows extremely fast, so if it does make a mess of your precious pockets, you can just go back and fetch another!
<Character>: How wonderful. Can I at least get some bread, first?
Ruby: Nope. Now, off you go!
*You are in the web infested caves under Falconreach; you fight various bugs until you pick up a Brittle Humapple, where you must exit the cave while avoiding damage from monsters and traps (see other information); after escaping the cave, you return to Falconreach while Ruby is preparing the stew in her cauldron; however, the cauldron is reaching a critical state.*
Ruby: Oh, you're finally back, <Character>! As you can see we're in quite the predicament.
<Character>: Is everything okay, Ruby? That cauldron doesn't look the best.
Ruby: Please tell me you have the humapple in one piece. If it's not added to the cauldron within about... 10 seconds?
Ruby: Falconreach Inn is going to become the Falconreach Ru-Inn. Aha.
<Character>: Ruby. What?!
Ruby: Just put the apple in the pot, <Character>! Now!
*You put the Brittle Humapple on Ruby's cauldron, stabilizing the stew.*
Ruby: Good job, you. I guess that's why they call you a hero!
<Character>: That... that wasn't actually going to blow up Falconreach, was it?
Ruby: Well, some of the town would have survived. Maybe. Or would it?
<Character>: ...Have you considered cooking in less populated areas?
*Ruby gives her thoughts from your question.*
Ruby: I will admit, this one almost got away from me for a moment.
<Character>: You can't be—
Ruby: No, no, I understand.
<Character>: Do you? If this becomes a trend some people might start thinking of you as a villain.
Ruby: Look, I'm sorry. I... was reckless. It won't happen again. I promise.
<Character>: ...Really?
Ruby: ...
Ruby: Anyway, want some stew? The taste is going to knock your socks off!
<Character>: We just saw it almost explode!
Ruby: Almost! The danger builds flavor!
<Character>: ...You know what, fine! After I went through all that trouble to get the humapple, I think I will have some!
Ruby: Great! Just let me know if you have any weird side effects!
<Character> (momentarily): Wait, what—?
*Scene cuts to black.*
Complete Quest
Humapple Stew - adds Humapple Stew to your Temporary Items. (Pop-up if Humapple Stew is in Temporary Items: You can only carry one bowl of Humapple Stew.)
Other information
Completion of this quest unlocks Humapple Stew from Ruby on Falconreach (Book 3).
The bench and the Brittle Humapple tree acts as HP/MP healing sources during the quest.
After getting a Brittle Humapple from the Brittle Humapple tree, it has 6 durability and will have the following mechanics:
- Getting a Brittle Humapple will revive all monsters except the boss.
- Stepping on various traps (Spider holes and spider spit) will remove 10% max HP from the player and any guests as well as losing 1 durability; rooms that contain the spider spit trap will reactivate continuously.
- During battles, while holding a Brittle Humapple, the player permanently applies 'Humapple Holding' to themselves on the start of every battle with its current durability; each direct hit received will remove 1 durability; if 'Humapple Holding' has 0 durability, 'Humapple Holding' is replaced with 'Humapple Broken', another permanent effect.
- The Bag of Silk, located in the northern path, can be used to gain 2 durability stacks; this can be used only once while Brittle Humapple is held.

This bag is empty. For now. - The player is teleported back to the Brittle Humapple tree if the Brittle Humapple was broken at any point (even on winning a battle) or the player flees the battle.
