Support abusing Mercs are still a problem. Despite the nerf, things still go wrong easily.

Having 160 support basically guarantees a first strike:

The Auxiliary deals a good chunk of damage.
Now, it's the other player's turn. But if he attacks, he might get killed by Artillery strike next turn. The best choice is to either shield or heal. EMPing isn't effective unless you specialize in it to deplete enough energy.
If the player goes defensive, the merc will delay the use of the Artillery strike, in order to rage it on the fourth turn. Or he can use it on the third turn to then rage with the aux.

But if you can survive the artillery strike, the Support merc will become powerless, and is easily defeated.
Having a Yeti to use Chomp is very useful, as it delays the second Aux attack, preventing a powerful rage, and makes the merc very vulnerable to blocks, due to his low dexterity.


However, a 160 support user is like a volatile bomb. Criticals can happen very often, and it's common to happen on either the AUX or Artillery strike. And when it happens, it usually decides the fate of the battle.
It's almost impossible to recover.
Couple that with Infernal Interdictor, and you have a Build that juggles grenades.
It may not be the best build around. It can be countered, yes. The problem is that it is very unstable, and most builds can't handle it.

Unstable means that it lacks balance. A single factor cannot decide the result.
You can say it's a relatively weak build with random potential to be deadly and that it cancels out, but it does't make it balanced.


It's like having these two attacks:
-A strike that deals 45-55 damage.
-A strike that deals 10-90 damage.

While the two attacks deal the same medium damage, the second is much more random, and it can be devastating sometimes.

With so much offensive starting power, its hard to recover from an early Crit.

I don't see where one having the infernal weapon is to big a deal since they made that weapon useless... just get the new armor core to lower crit dmg% and you
completely nullify the infernal ( except for a whole 2% big whoop... ) anyways yeah they can be deadly but if you do take either there aux away/ arty away you
can easily defeat them. I'm surprised they didn't nerf the scaling of arty or something.. it seems bad since at that support arty is roughly 82damage at max which
still does a chunk of damage unless your defenses are through the roof.

*Derp* thought there was something about a nerf to the builds in here! shows how much I pay attention :P

Well, i would rather have the Generator.

And the infernal weapon core didn't become useless. Even if everyone had the new armor core, you would still do the biggest criticals, compared to all other players who dont have the weapon.


Not supported? I did not give any suggestion here, just pointed some issues that I felt that compromised balanced fights.´

But yeah, it's not so bad because you don't see so many anymore.
The problem is the randomness. A crit destroys you, otherwise it is easy defeat them.

I agree with Vypie. Even if something is not OP doesn't mean it's balanced.

Support Mercs are mostly useless after Artillery Strike.

From what I see, Support Mercs do 3 massive attacks in a fight: 2 Auxes and 1 Artillery Strike.

Yeah but with some extra energy, they can easily fire off a SECOND artillery...

Essentially what you are saying is support mercs work well for 2v2.... every class is better at something ;)

Support abusing Merc sacrifice alot of dex and tech when abusing support so they are easy target after Aux Strike + Aux has been used. I wouldn't call them OP, they can easily be beaten...

Yes i agree.
1 atomsmasher or emp takeaway out that multi and yeti eat gun/aux. Then support abuser is boxingbag.
Very easy to beat them. Remember those support abusers need 1-3 criticals to win today too.

Yeah support mercenaries do need a crit to win, but I think that we should put a requirement on artillery strike.

Like a pain in the rear.First there were strenght abusers.They chenged to support rquirement and now there support abusers.

I'm really wondering when all those things will stop
